We had already planned to visit here on our holiday as we had read about it beforehand, and it didn't disappoint. Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor we acted on the tip to park the car at the bottom of the valley and ascend from the bottom of the garden, finishing at the top. This way, you can take your time slowly meandering up the gradually sloping paths and on the way down after you have seen everything you can come back down a little quicker via the steps. We really enjoyed exploring it this way and discovering all the flora native to the Canaries. The layout of the garden seemed a little confusing at first when we looked at the map, but we managed to see everything whilst we were there. We loved the cactus garden as we had never seen so many species of cactus before, it really was very interesting. We liked the giant succulents! We also loved the waterfalls, and there were some giant (and obviously very old) trees that were very impressive. There is so much to see and we there for about three hours. There were lots of little hidden gems too - fountains, statues, monuments, wildlife and lots of other things. The whole place was just peaceful and a world away from the coastal resorts. We used the toilets and they were clean, though we didn't try the restaurant as it wasn't open. I would definitely recommend this place, but make sure you are wearing comfortable shoes as it is a fair bit of walking!

Great botanic garden in Gran Canaria with a great variety of cactus to see and also offers an interesting hike. It is much bigger than I expected and you can easily spend 2-3 hours here wandering about in a lovely sunny day. Definitely worth a visit. Plus It is free entry which is a bonus ;)

On our final day in Las Palmas, my girlfriend was adamant about visiting the Botanic Garden. While I was initially hesitant and skeptical about spending our time there amidst the lush greenery, my doubts were quickly shattered. To my amazement, the Botanic Garden turned out to be an enchanting oasis that left an indelible mark on my memory. This destination was far from ordinary—it was a realm of extraordinary beauty. If you ever find yourself in the vicinity, I implore you to pay a visit to this remarkable place. Its allure is not to be missed.

Awesome cactus garden for a family trip!! There is parking space above and below and we do definitely recommend parking below, at the lower level. This way you are not forced to climb the sometimes rather narrow pathways to the garden but can decide for yourselves. Entrance and parking is free of charge.

A pleasant and enjoyable way to pass a couple of hours. I didn't find the main part of the gardens to be run down or poorly maintained as some other reviewers describe. The paths leading down from the car park to the west of the gardens are steep and uneven in parts so I would suggest that those with mobility problems avoid this entrance. There is an alternative entrance to the east of the park which provides access to the main gardens where the paths are well maintained. I enjoyed spending a couple of hours amongst the various trees, plants and water pools. It's a peaceful place to walk around in. There is no shop or cafe so take refreshments with you. The toilets were clean. There is no entry or parking charge. I recommend you visit, and I would visit again if in the area.

Cool botanical garden, if that is a good description. Especially liked the 🌵 part of it. Access from the southern side was amazing, but no access for disabled from that side. Also if you have vertigo choose another entry point

Beautiful garden. If you enter from the down entrance, you have a cactus garden and different spaces ornated with specific plants, lakes and a waterfall. A lot of places to stay cool and enjoy the shadows. Then I recommend going up the hill on the rocky steep paths. You will have an extended view over the garden and the valley below.

Fabulous public gardens containing every type of plant from across the islands. The mixture of climate conditions, soil and landscape variations makes for the perfect site for the botanical gardens. Wandering around the well designed and cared for site is an absolute joy. Both relaxing and fascinating at the same time. Several of the plants and views are guaranteed to take your breath away in more ways than one as some of the paths up the steep hillside are demanding and even treacherous in places. There's a little restaurant at the top of the hillside and carparks both below and above. Amazingly, the park is free to enter.

Very nice park and botanical garden. Sadly some parts are a little neglected bordering dangerous.

Very nice botanical garden for succulent fans. A lot of other flora, too. Free entrance. Plan at least 2h if you want to walk through everything. For elderly / less mobile folks I advise to enter from the western entrance ("Inferior Entrada"). If you arrive and park at the eastern entrance ("Superior Entrada", closer to the town), then be prepared to climb down some 40m on cobblestone steps (and back up again, when you're done). Also, their parking places don't have many parking spots (even in the off season, early March), so come early. Overall a bit on the wild side, but not unkempt, it adds to the charm. P.S. In the off-season, the only open WC was #12 on the garden's map, near the wooden bridge.

Such fantastic gardens, totally worth a visit if you like exploring and being surrounded by exuberant nature. It just feels out of the city, despite it being located next to the university campus, just 10 minutes from downtown. Many species of plants, cactuses, insects and more await you here. Entrance is totally free and there's two access, one suitable for disabled people, the other perfect for adventure-seekers, as it descends throughout many levels to the bottom of the botanical gardens.

Very nice garden, with lots of different plants and trees from all around the world. Nice paths to walk, you can easily wander around 1-2 hours if you have time. Plus point: no entrance fee and free parking :)

Well worth a visit. All the plants from different regions of the island gathered in one place. The girl at the entrance was incredibly nice and helpful, answered our questions and told us about the history of the garden.

The staff was very nice and helpful speaking French and English. The parkings are giving you direct access to the botanical garden. The hike is worth the view should you want to not remain at the bottom of the park (where they are already plenty of plants to see there). The cactuses are amazing by their size and diversity. All plants are mainly local plants. Overall a nice park but the 3 stars are due to the numerous closed paths and the fact that nothing is breathtaking.

Where to even start.. This botanical garden is more of a cliff with some plants on it.. if you arrive at the top entrance you have very steep, narrow walkways down that don't have any rails (and there are warnings about rocks falling - yay) The plants along the way have absolutely no description and those that do have little plaques were so bleached and overgrown that it was either impossible to read or impossible to know which of the unkept plants around it it was referring to.. The map on top didn't really help, as some signage was bent to the wrong side or had the wrong numbers on them. As we finally arrived at the bottom (after getting lost, since the map we photographed at the beginning didn't really coincide with the actual garden and they only had two in the whole garden!) it did start to get prettier though.. A car had just dropped off a group of tourists and you could see that this was the only side of the garden they care about. Suddenly there was a toilet and shiny new plaques and watered plants. The exit was written down wrong on both maps we found and the gate they designated as the down entrance was closed and chained shut, while the actual entrance was not even marked on the map! We ended up jumping the fence and feeling stupid when we passed the big entrance.. Last warning: This place is not meant to be accessed by foot! There are no bus stops nearby and we had to walk quite a bit alongside a main road to even get there.. I don't know how it's meant to be accessed though since I would have absolutely hated having to climb back up the steep hill to get back to our car.. so either you only see the bottom part or you prepare for a hike

Such a lovely botanical garden. Very well maintained, beautiful vegetation everywhere. So glad i went here. A must visit when on the island.

Loved the Botanical Gardens! We entered at the top and wove our way down the paths along the hillside, to the bottom, through fascinating flora, and the sounds of birds. There are interesting sculptures, a fountain where the wise men behind the gardens and the study of indigenous flora are commemorated, special groupings of plants from other places (including a fascinating collection of palm trees), waterways, and good signage. I absolutely recommend taking the time to visit the gardens!

A hidden gem. Unexpected that this park was so big and so many different plants. Really nice and welcoming people working there. Bring water and food if you want to se all. There was nothing to buy when we visited. Really recommend 👌

I do very much recommend coming to this garden if you have time. There is two entrance one of the require for you to walk down the hill and then up and the other one is directly down so you don't have to walk up the hill. There are nice clean free bathrooms. There is no place to buy food and drinks so come ready. :) The garden are big, clean and beautiful and the entry is free.

The place definitely has some untapped potential but currently looks like no one cares to make it work. Some areas are interesting, but majority of garden is just dirt, dry plants and nothing to see. Would love to have more info about plants not only general. Don’t bother to go up to the hill - apart from views same plants over and over again.

I like it very much, it was lovely park, nice kept. Free car park and free entrance. Access to the toilets in the middle of the park. Map of this park available online. Nice to go to break your beach holiday. Highly recommended. Please take a drinks with you because is no place to buy food or drink.

Beautiful place, huge and peaceful. Organized in smaller sections, each one special in its own way. If you want to see it all, take at least 4 gozrs to wander around. Entrance is free. A true hidden gem!

If you choose the right time of year, this place will delight you. The garden area is 27 hectares, and a walk around this wonderful place will take you 3-4.5 hours and will remain in your memory for a long time. All plants have been carefully categorized and described, and there are over 2,000 species, including 500 endemic ones. Admission to the garden and parking is free. I recommend👍

It can be said that it is nice for a free park. Especially the garden with cacti was very nice. There are giant cactus trees and different types of cacti. It's worth a few hours. Fish, insects and plants in tiny pools should also be seen. The toilets located at different points inside were also clean. Also, the security guards were polite and helpful.

The garden is interesting but the trails are not well marked. The map at the lower entrance ( which Google directed us to) is scanned via a QR code. This garden plan is not easy to use when viewing on a phny The trail up to the main entrance where the mirador is, is very steep, narrow in places and there is no handrail or barrier. Due to vertigo, we chose to drive to the main entrance to see the mirador. There is a restaurant at the main entrance, we didn't visit it as it looked somewhat formal for our needs.

Amazing place, very curated, free entrance (at least in January). The cacti and euphorbias are the biggest I have ever seen. You can also enjoy a pause on the softest grass lawns I nhave ever experienced

Its nice to wander around in the garden.

  • 5/5 jfk 3 years ago on Google
Free entrance, free parking. Please check the opening hours and locations online. Some entrances might be closed. The areal includes several zones including ponds, forests, bridges and hillsides. Especially the hillsides with it’s steep pathways are something you won’t find anywhere. Gigantic cactuses and succulents which’s tiny siblings you might have on your window-shelf will impress you.

Nice botanic garden with impressively big cacti! The site is quite large and has a few picnic spots with tables and shade. Closes relatively early, free entry

One of my favourite place on GC. Love to walk around in the garden all year especially with my camera. Lovely walk around for everyone, there are QR code on most signs, so you can get more info. Recommend highly

  • 5/5 Mel G. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful garden on a steep hillside with local flora: all kinds of cactus, succulents and palms dominate the scenery. There is a special pine forest walk, and saw many junipers too. Accessible from the top and bottom of the garden, stone steps and paths connect all parts. Can easily spent a couple of hours wandering around making photos, or just enjoying the usually quiet garden. Practical info: There is a toilet at the lower level. in general, most paths are not accessible for wheelchairs

Amazing place definitely MUST go! There you can see almost all the variety of plants on the islands in one place. Free entrance. Prepare at least few hours because it's huge and you will need time to walk around. Highly recommending.

Excellent collection of Canarian plants well displayed. Some amazing huge cact, could have spent lots of time there......

  • 3/5 Tomasz K. 2 years ago on Google
We were there in September, so late summer. It means that a lot of plants were dried and not really enjoyable to watch. The most interesting part was the succulent garden, which you can reach directly from the bottom parking. In general I wouldn't recommend starting from the top one, as there is quite some stairs and besides beautiful view from the top that has nothing to do with the Jardín Canario, there is no incentive to do so.

  • 4/5 Sheila K. 2 years ago on Google
This is amazing. Beautiful. Just hard to find the toilets.

  • 5/5 Rachael H. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent, spacious garden with meandering paths through palm trees, pine trees, cacti and lilly-covered ponds. Definitely recommended to park at the bottom part (not the top by the university) so to avoid the steep climb. Lots of shady spots on a hot day but best time to visit is March-June when the plants are at their best!!

  • 5/5 Katya J. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely stunning and definitely worth a visit. But don't underestimate the size of the garden - there is a lot of walking and exploring to do! Definitely allow a few hours for your visit.

  • 4/5 Dance L. 2 years ago on Google
Will you see many flowers?? No, most of the time not. Is it still worth a visit??! For sure!! And they have just made a new parking lot. Recommended.

  • 4/5 Michael R (. 2 years ago on Google
Well maintained gardens, with cactuses, trees and a few bushes and plants. Well worth a visit. Free parking. Free entry. Café. Not far from the motorway. Usually only open until 2pm though, and parts of it were closed off by building works when I was there. Don't climb the steep hillside paths unless you're very confident, and yes there are prominent signs saying that.

  • 3/5 kari l. 2 years ago on Google
Nice place to visit. You should reserve at least one and half hour just to short visit. with picnic bag 3-5 hours will go easily😁

  • 4/5 Nagy O. 1 year ago on Google
The garden is beautiful. There are some safety issues if you want to climb to, or from the upper wiewpont. The roads are narrow and just carved into the cliffs. But if you do not affraid from the height, it well worth it!
