INCREDIBLY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE! It's not every day that you leave a home stay with new lifelong friends and that is EXACTLY what we have earned from the Udawatta Kele Forest Lodge. You are not just "staying" here, you are getting a cultural experience and getting to chat with locals - which is always what we remember the most! This family is absolutely incredible. From sitting outside with grandma writing down her curry recipes, to enjoying long talks over breakfast we have enjoyed every moment and truly felt like we became part of the family! Yes there are A LOT of stairs to get there, but the view is worth it at the top. The beds are VERY comfortable, and the pillows are the best we have had so far in Sri Lanka. From here its a very short walk to the lake, the Scared Tooth Temple, and to the city center / bus station. If you are visiting Kandy, we HIGHLY recommend staying here!

After climbing the stairs to the lodge, we were rewarded with beautiful (new) rooms, nice veranda and friendly and helpful staff. Unique location not far from the city and temple (15min by foot). Good value for money.

Brand new, comfortable and big rooms with bathroom. Nice views, 10 minutes walk to the temple and just next to the forest. The staff is very helpful, nice and speak perfect English. And the breakfast is really tasty!

Had a wonderful stay. To start with, the contact person was quite helpful and there was excellent communication. Planning was made much easier. At the lodge, the rooms and washrooms were marvellous, clean and had everything you want. We wanted a different kind of fun cpz we wanted to vook our own dinner, and to our delight there was an outdoor-sort of kitchen consisting of everything you would want. The place was very homely, with the family who looked after the place, and the breakfast was delicious. There is also a good view of the cìty. The only problem is the huge staircase and I would advice you to not plan things so that you might have many trips up and down. Overall, totally recommended it.

Good host, goes out of their way to make you comfortable, the catch to get there is 120 steps and bunch of stray dogs. I was attacked by 4 of them in middle of my climb to get there. 4 stars for the family n view. Hope they do something about the stairs and dogs.

I recognize this place as best to stay in Kandy! Absolutly lovely owner and Lady. The best view, comfy bed and breakfast with monkeys. We had shower with the view, food was really good and the tea was the best. Owner helped us to organize trip to train. I promise myself I come back to this place :) Best wishes!

Great location. Great view. Great rooms, and great food, but the best part is the hosts. I came to Sri Lanka on a Buddhist pilgrimage, and they were so helpful. They told me about the history of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and drove me around to various sites at a very reasonable price. I consider the family that runs the place my friends and can very much recommend it!
