Great owner and location good Beautiful home but the rooms could do with a freshen up and maybe new bathrooms then it would be first rate. Breakfast was good Family charming I recommend

Don't hesitate, and stay at Freedom Lodge in Kandy. You'll have the real family home feeling in a beautiful house. Room are spacious, confortable and clean with attached bathroom. Some have a balcony. It is in a quiet area, with terrace and garden, very close to city center and the lake in few minute walking. As tourist, we should support this kind of place instead of big hotel. It is the true Sri Lanka for me. Sarath, his wife and daughter welcomed me really warmly. Thank you !

Freedom Lodge is a very nice place with beautiful spacious rooms. It’s run by Mr Sarath, he serves great breakfast with fresh fruits, toast and eggs and fresh tea or coffee. The place is close to Kandy city centre, you can walk easily passing by the lake. Definitely recommended!

Lovely place and the host was so kind, nice breakfast and affordable rooms. Easy to walk from main city. The host was waiting for us every night till me and my sisters were home, really lovely.

Sarath, the owner, was amongst the most welcoming people we have met. The room was correct, spacious and clean. The location is OK, close to the lake, in a quite area and it has a nice garden. The food they prepared for us was also very good. However, I think it was a bit overpriced overall. Just make sure to agree on the price of dinner and breakfast before you order it.

Very lovely place. Great hosts, lovely big and clean room, well located to walk into Kandy or get a tuk tuk. Sarath and Nalini organised lots of trips for us with an excellent driver, made everything very easy for us. Had a delicious meal here one night too.

Amazing accomodation and nice host, great food

We stayed here a couple years ago during our vacation, and the experience was wonderful. The hosts went out of their way to accommodate our needs, and everyone was so nice. The food is pretty good, and rooms are nice as well. I would recommend staying here from our experience, and if I ever come back to stay in Kandy it will be here.

Freedom Lodge is a perfect place to stay to enjoy Kandy a little way away from the busyness and dirt of the town centre - though it by no means far to everything you would ant to see - it is an easy and enjoyable 10 minute walk around the lake to the Temple of the Tooth. I paid a little extra for an upstairs room with a nice view and balcony and it was clean and nicely-furnished. The breakfast is great and you can also get a fantastic dinner (traditional rice and curries) for about 1,400 rupees a night if you want. The owner is very helpful and can help to arrange drivers, reliable tuktuk drivers and anything else you need. I would advise booking ahead as the day I arrived a few people turned up without reservation and sadly had to be turned away. If I was going back to Kandy I would definitely stay here again.

Spotless. My room was far too expensive and I didn't need or request a sitting area. And very very hot despite a fan and being very large? Breakfast was hopeless. Staff didn't speak English. Needs a menu in both languages so client can point to chosen dishes.

This isn't a wow factor place but is nice pleasant place to stay and good value for money. Good location with a short stroll into town past nice monkeys. Large rooms with friendly and helpful owners, who can arrange good drivers.

We stayed at the freedom lodge for two nights. The guesthouse is well situated, close to the lake. Staff was very friendly and helpful, with good tips on what to do in town. Breakfast was served on a nice terrace. The rooms don't have AC, but it was not needed as it cools down at night. The only reason we're not giving a better rating is that the bathroom was not clean.

The view is great and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. First night of our stay there was a party in a hotel nearby that went till 23.30 so we couldn't sleep till then, but they don't have parties every day. Rooms are simple and could have been cleaner. The hosts did their best to assist us in any question. In general it was good for the price we paid.
