amazing pieces but you need a bunch of time if you want to see all the exhibitions (around 2 hours total). i would recommend if you have the mental capacity to invest into the artwork for that long. it had paintings and sculptures from renaissance up until the 60s-70s (and some modern pieces as well), a whole art experience in my opinion.

The gallery was nice but very small, they had a few rooms dedicated to medieval to 18th century art and two short time exhibitions. There are only a few places to sit down and enjoy the art. I also thought it was super cold, definitely bring a sweater or cardigan. Don't forget to bring only a small bag, big bags gave to be left in a small locker.

The National Gallery of Slovenia can rival those of other major capitals such as Vienna. It exhibits an impressive collection of paintings while showing the nation's uniqueness in critical thinking, originality of thought, and what makes this country so unique in the modern world.

Solid gallery. To be honest not that much to experience. Many religious artefacts which can be seen almost in every similar gallery.

Wonderful art collection. I've enjoyed the 1870 and onwards collection very much, the Slovenian impressionist collection is outstanding.

If you an art lover or if you are not, when visiting Ljubljana National Gallery is a must. Here you will find paintings and sculptures from gothic era to modernism of 20. Century of the most notable Slovenian artists and artists (or their works) who were in some way connected with Slovenia. I was most impressed by gothic art, the paintings of Jožef Tominec and the magnificent Archduchess Maria Theresa of Martin van Meytens. Then there are also masterpieces of Ivana Kobilca, Ivan Grohar, Rihard Jakopič, Matija Jama from the beginning of 20.Century which are so charming that no words can describe the beauty of them. You have to see them with your own eyes. In the Gallery there are always also many temporary exbihitions.

We visited the temporary exhibition of Rembrandt’s prints and we were absolutely delighted. The whole gallery is very neatly organized and interesting to see — including the permanent exhibition. I highly recommend to visit!

Good gallery. The permanent collections are great. However, some paintings were not illuminated well and you could not see them in detail or they were reflecting the light. And the room temperature was too cold because of the AC.

Good gallery. Small collection. There are some good pieces. Went the 8th of February, Prešeren Day, and it was free, but not so crowded.

Nice permanent exhibition, however AC did not worked or was on very low temperature so we were sweating inside the museum.

Top quality museum with Slovenian and other works. Temporary exhibit right now is Rembrandt. Very friendly staff that helped us navigate easily with a stroller.

Very rich gallery of Slovenia arts. Started from middle ages up to the sixties and seventies of twentieth century. It needs more time.

Very interesting works from Slovenian artists. Definitely recommend as it's nearby the city center and the art collection is large.

We viewed the permanent exhibitions here (€8 ticket). The building is absolutely beautiful and worth a visit for that alone. There is great variety spanning over 5 centuries of art. Particularly enjoyed the Zoran Music collection & pieces by Ivan Grohar. It was very quiet on Sunday afternoon so felt like we had the place almost to ourselves

Horrible experience in the museum. While i was texting i was leaning on this pile when i was approached by a male employee and i was told 'Do not lean on this piece of art, show some respect'. I was trying to explain to him that this is NOT a piece of art but the employee keep being rude and telling me that this is ' an architectural piece of art' ! I did ask to speak to the manager but apparently the musem 'does not have any managers at the moment'. Essential training is needed.....

Save your money and time and go to the modern art gallery instead. An underwhelming collection with less than good paitinings and sculptures. The impressionist and realist wing being closed didn't help it's case, the only relatively good pieces can be found in the Biedermeier and romanticism section. In the first floor you're put up against a woman who does not greet you, furthermore doesn't reply to your greetings. She spits out a request for your tickets in the rudest possible manner and continues to harrass you and follow you like a vulture continuously instructing you on how to wear your bag even though you just purpousefully put it as far away from the piece you are viewing as possible. A lesson in manners and professionalism is in order. Overall an experience unworthy the ticket price.

Well organized museum blending old and new building together. A good look at talented Slovenian artist and others with a Slovenian connection. Descriptions are in English also - thanks for that.

The two temporary exhibitions were excellent, so it's worth buying the combined ticket for both them and the permanent collection. This was an interesting overview of art in Slovenia, arranged chronologically.

Really nice Museum, it has a fairly large collection of Slovenian artists. Nonetheless, might be a but expensive for your taste, in my case was 7€ and I had a discount. But it was worth it, I really liked it

Last year I visited the National Gallery of Slovenia, which contains the country's largest fine art collection from the medieval period to the twentieth century. The atmosphere was quiet and almost religious. Personally I was impressed by gothic sacred art, baroque and neoclassical paintings and romantic landscapes. I think that is essential to unearth slovenian artists, who are no way inferior to the european famous ones. There is also the original Baroque Robba fountain, which used to stand in Ljubljana's town square. I recommend this place if you are visiting the city.

The Slovenian National Gallery was founded in 1918, after the dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs. Initially, it was hosted in the Kresija Palace of Ljubljana, but moved to the present location in 1925. The gallery hosts a permanent art collection from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century. The original of the Baroque Robba fountain can also be seen in the central glass gallery of the building, where it was moved after extensive restoration in 2008. Truly beautiful exhibitions of magnificent paintings of Hungarian and Serbian painters. Recommend for art enthusiasts.

Art appreciation is one of the easiest ways to enrich your life! Gorgeous Gallery in the heart of Ljubljana, what a perfect way to spend a rainy, fall afternoon. Ticket price was €8 for adults. English-speaking staff 👍🏼

Very interesting collection of paintings and sculptures. It introduces one to the Slovenian art. There is also a café in the museum, while the shop has a decent variety of items.
