The A.A. has a warm, homely and welcoming ambience, with carpets, exposed brick columns, low mood lamps, wooden furniture and timber features. It’s a large and well ventilated space with multiple dining and entertaining areas. We sat in the main dining area, in a booth type arrangement with comfy upholstered leather bench seating. Being a Sun night, there was only a smattering of other diners, enough to give it a bit of atmosphere but with a chilled, relaxed, and laid back vibe. Acoustics were perfect. Both the food and drink ordering can be done at the bar in the usual way, but I prefer the app ordering. It streamlines the process and allows you to better manage your budget for the night. Payment is done automatically, once your order is complete and submitted, so there’s no hanging around after the meal, waiting for the bill, then going elsewhere to make payment. It’s all very simple and easy and in my experience it also means that service is more efficient and meals always come out quickly. You can link your Monty’s Rewards club membership to the ordering app, so that you’ll never miss out on the 5% discount on drinks and meals. First up, the drinks: A schooner of my fav Byron Bay ale and an Espresso Martini for my wife, beautifully prepared by the bartender and brought out to the table. When it came to the food, being just my wife and I, we shared three dishes: the Turkish bread with dips, the beef rissoles with peas and mash, and the salt and pepper calamari. The Turkish bread was hot and crunchy and came with three smooth and creamy dips: baba ghanoush, hummus and pesto. The perfect way to start the meal. The other dishes didn’t disappoint either. The beef rissoles were tender and tasty, and well complemented with the fresh peas and mash potato. The calamari was succulent and tender in a crispy batter served with beetroot salad, lemon and small bowl of aioli sauce. We both enjoyed our meals. The Alderley Arms is a part of the A.L.H. Group chain of hotels and pubs around the country. We’ve dined at many of them and never been disappointed with the experience. What I especially appreciate about A.L.H. hotels are the modest prices. Just check out their online menu and you’ll see what I mean. There are further savings if you’re a Monty’s Rewards Club member, and long-suffering seniors get special deals too, with discounted meals and a $5 dessert. Just as an example, we paid a very reasonable 45 pesos for three meals: the Turk bread with dips, the calamari and the rissoles. And it’s not as if they’re skimping on either quality or quantity. Serving sizes are generous and the food is carefully prepared with love, care and attention to detail, and presented to the table on stylish white crockery. Drink prices are moderate too, and there are always specials. On the night that we dined, schooners of Byron Bay ale were on sale for only 8 pesos, A handcrafted espresso martini was 15, and of course, 5% of that too. This is a huge boon to us seniors, to be able to still enjoy a night out without ending up in the debtors prison. Thanks to the A’L.H. Group for making dining out affordable, especially as we endure “Weimar Republic” levels of hyperinflation. Toilets are clean, well provisioned and easy to find, just behind the gaming room, and congrats to this venue for providing a disposal unit for hygiene prods in the MEN’S toilet, something all venues should do. Parking is a breeze in the huge car park right outside the front door, and there’s also a handy and well stocked BWS liquor store on the same premises, so that you can stock up the liquor cab on your way out. We had a really pleasant, relaxing and fun night out at the A.A. Hotel. Ordering is easy using the app and the food was outstanding and served in generous portions. Service was fast, efficient and friendly and prices were modest, representing excellent value for money. The ambience is casual and relaxed, with ample free parking and clean toilets. Everything you could want for a perfect night out with family or friends.

Had an unexceptable and honestly baffling experience at the pub tonight. 9pm on a Saturday and we were a bit drunk, from the get go we were served with a generally dismissive attitude, participating in the karaoke we were told to 'stop wooing', eventually a member of our group was kicked out abruptly and without warning, other patrons treated us with general hostility and I certainly did not feel comfortable. I and all other members of my party will not be returning. We'll hit the RSL next time I think.

The bald security guard blatantly accused me of being drunk just because I am aboriginal and I was completely sober and had no drinks. He also harassed me and constantly made profound and disgusting jokes about my body. He needs to be fired immediately and actions need to be taken.

The bald security guard with the AirPods would not let my mate in for having “glassy eyes”. He had had 2 drinks and has a lazy eye. Total poor performance and total indecency from him. It’s. Friday night cmon man you are better then this

Tried to have a fun night out with a friend. We played the pokies, which we very rarely do. We were laughing as we gambled, unfortunately the 'security guard' did not appreciate two 30+ year old women having fun. I have seen many intoxicated people on a Saturday night at karaoke (my self included) And never been kicked out. I believe this security guard and manager (Craig), who the security told us wanted us to leave, need retraining in customer service and RSA. We literally walked in and had one drink. If having a good time is not allowed maybe you should make this known to the community.

It amazes me that fish and chips and a chicken schnitzel can go so wrong. I’ve never had a schnitzel that dry and burnt before. Serving food that isn’t even prepared fresh yet charging those prices is beyond disappointing. And for a pensioner the size of the fish wasn’t even enough to feed a child.

We were a group of friends celebrating a friends birthday enjoying the karaoke. We all of a sudden rudely got asked to quiet down when cheering our friends when singing. One of the friends got asked to leave with no question and no reason when asked for explanation. We were kicked out in an unacceptable manner for a Saturday night by the waitress with the glasses. We all immediately left and the alderly arms lost 10 paying customers. Will not be returning, RSL is down the road

We ordered very simple orders, and nearly every single thing that could have gone wrong, did. Including wrong sauces and sides. One meal was paid for then told it was out of stock, then the replacement never came. Food was pretty good however the wait and awkward customer service was less than par especially noting it was mid week and quiet. Kitchen communication needs improvement so that we aren't sending back every meal.

Second time we’ve eaten here and again disappointed by the Poor service. The waitress appeared to forget about taking our food order, it took 45 mins for her to come back. Will not be back for a third time.

Went to the Alderley on Friday night. We were catching up and couldn’t hear each other due to a loud table. Steph the waitress let us move to the back window area and was so helpful and made sure we were looked after. Great asset to the team.

Another great night out at Alderley Arms Hotel! Fantastic barra and great cocktails served by our fav staff member, Sophie W. She always makes sure my food allergies are taken care of, and our fav desserts are delivered with a smile.

Genuinely shocked about all the reviews referencing the ‘great food’. Ordered some wings which came out rock hard, was starving but legitimately could not finish them. The bones of the wings also kept cracking into splinters the way chicken bones that have been re-heated do. One of the most disappointing pub feeds I’ve had. Go to the newy instead if your local. Service was fine though.

Group booking (11 pax) for pre-Christmas lunch. The food was tasty – well priced seniors meals with generous portions. Really good customer service – Maggie and Caitlin looked after us. They also took the time to make sure our group was satisfied after a small mix-up; ensuring that we had a positive experience. Thank you!

It is with a heavy heart that i write the following review. The Alderley Arms has been like a second home for myself for the past two and a half years. It has provided me with many fond memories and filled a void in my life which nothing else could. It is the quintessential Australian pub that has a multitude of redeeming qualities. A pool table that has seen more amateur pool matches than i care to imagine. A smoking area that allows you to view the hustle and bustle of the surrounding Brisbane suburbs and monthly beer specials that have taken their fair share of my weekly pay check. However, the cornerstone of this establishment is none of these things. The reason i and many others constantly frequent The Alderley Arms Hotel is for one thing and one thing only. The Chicken Sandwich. So imagine the anguish i felt to hear that the sports bar menu had changed and my favourite delicacy has now mutated into something that no longer resembles its former glory. This is far worse than the time i asked for extra cheese and the chef added grated parmesan. The whole recipe has changed. No Turkish bred. No bacon. Nothing that resembled the dish i once loved. I am still giving them 5 stars. Mostly because the staff are great and they have put up with my shenanigans for far too long. But i sincerely ask that they restore the sandwich to its original perfection. If they have to add $2 on-top, do it. I don't care. In a year that has already taken so much. I humbly ask they don't take away the best lunch/dinner i have ever had.

Really great pub food. Whether you want a superb steak or something off the seniors menu, there's a good selection reasonable prices. Staff friendly, & if you want to order & pay from your table with a QR code you can.

Always good food. Service is great and the staff are always welcoming. Wish they would bring back the beef ribs though. When they took away the beef ribs from the specials menu my heart dropped. I struggled to get out of bed the next morning with a smile on my face. For the weeks the beef ribs special existed, it was the best weeks of my life. I will never understand and fully comprehend why the decided to do this to me. The day the beef ribs make an appearance to the Alderley hotel, that is the day I will proceed to come in daily as I once used to. Again, amazing staff and friendliness, but I just want those sweet, delicious beef ribs to touch my lips once again.

Used to enjoy eating here with friends when in town. Everything now is on an app and no welcome, ambience, or hospitality at all. Small things but had to go and find plates for shared garlic bread and any questions it was "it's on the app". Food was ok but meat cooked wrong and pumpkin on the roast of the day inedible. Not good enough to go back for now especially with the prices of meals - other places manage covid precautions much bettering without everyone being on their phone at a social occasion.

I had to return my southern fried chicken burger and chips last night. The bun was hard, the chips were dried out, the bacon was dark maroon and like wood - likely this had been left over from lunch or yesterday’s dinner and re heated as my meal. I will complain to the relevant health authorities and ask for an audit of this establishment.

Update: Had a steak here tonight (Thursday 29/09/2022) ordered medium rare, received medium on one side and well done on the other. This is not really all that big an issue as achieving is perfect doneness is not as easy as many think and this was really close enough given that the cut of meat itself was of quite high quality for pasture fed beef. The steak was still acceptably juicy and very flavoursome. There was, however, a large portion of gristle attached at the corner, in my estimate making up between five and ten percent of the total cut weight. While it is not unusual to find some gristle on a porterhouse I consider this excessive given the price being charged. Vegetables were well cooked being tender but not mushy and stopping short if being crunchy. Just the way I believe they should be done. The potato mash was smooth and of a good consistency and appropriately seasoned. Service was friendly, quick and efficient. Came here to play pool on a Friday night. Unlike most pubs with pool tables, this one does not allow you to pay to open a table and instead requires you to pay $3 per re-rack, so probably unsuitable for club play. Generally friendy atmosphere though. Can't say much about food and other services as we went elsewhere after discovering the no open table policy. Just an update regarding the operator's reply to this review. It's not that I disagree with the policy so much as I simply prefer the option to pay to open a table. The policy you set in this regard is entirely your prerogative and I hold no malice toward your establishment regardless of what choice you make.

Another great meal shared with my soul mate of some 57 years. The seniors meal of roast turkey was fabulous. As was the dessert. Made an even more enjoyable evening by the polite and ultra helpful staff, Annabelle in particular. As I’ve said often in the past “We’ll be back”. Thanks, this old couple had a great evening

Our group had a group booking for 40 people on Friday. The kindest comment said about the meal was that it was OK, but disappointing. The chicken option looked all right, but the roast option was lacking. The vegetarian meal was over done and lacked quality. Bread and butter plates were provided, but guests were told the did not do bread rolls. The 40 people were jammed into the room and movement to get drinks was extremely difficult. One guest who, before retiring , was cook at a football club, commented she would have been sacked if she had presented a meal like that. We were very disappointed as we always had good reports of the Alderley Arms.

Very much a working man’s pub. Good though and not shady or anything. Just good old salt of the earth types. TAB and pokies.

Came for lunch today after checking out the menu online only to find they have a new Covid friendly menu with a quarter of the options and a 20% price increase, it annoys me that we are the ones getting back out spending money to be treated like fools. Apart from that the staff were very nice, had a steak which needed more seasoning and taking out of the fridge more than 2 minutes before you cook it would have helped with the temperature.
