So this being a historical pub we had high hopes for here, we were sadly disappointed. It's just in a good location rich in history but I could hear people call up complaining they have been issued a ticket for parking and not knowing they had to give their vehicle numbers. The food was way too expensive for what you got. They seemed unable to provide decent service. No table service even when we sat opposite the bar, we got a starter and a main with a half pint came to 38.58 pounds each which I found very pricey for the food. Our first course took a long time, the main took longer and I actually felt they forgot about us. The hamburger the patty didn't have a very meaty finish, it was soft and I felt it wasn't well cooked. I had to pay more for chips instead of fries 1.50 more. The chips were not triple cooked, but they were soft and soggy. I just had some and thought not worth going here for food. My partner's rack of lamb was very fatty. The calamari batter wasn't crispy and it didn't taste fresh. The soft shell crab didn't taste fresh and the sauce was not the same as the menu. We didn't bother with the desserts. Come here for a drink but food I wouldn't bother. With the reply go try them again for a different opinion I don't think so. With such a poor reply I reduced it from 2 stars to 1. I went to a pub in angel which charged me half the price for more food. The polar opposite from here which really thinking about it the food and service was really bad. Go for a drink at most. Shame as it is such a historic pub.

I had the opportunity to visit this historic restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it. For an appetizer, the Scotch eggs were fantastic and a must try if you haven't had them before. The roast beef with potatoes and two very large popovers plus a vegetable was good and a perfect size to share with three hungry people. For dessert, the bread pudding with also good. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The beer and wine selection was good and varied. There is also outdoor seating which is nice. The structure itself is such a treasure being so old and was a great experience being in there. The decor is very inviting. My complaints are that the beef could have been served hotter and had a bit more seasoning. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable (too hard) and having a bad back, this is not good. Even the others in my party had the same complaint. Other than the slight concerns, the next time I am in London, I would go back.

I arrived to such a warm and friendly welcome and was shown to the perfect table for me, as a solo diner. My waitress had a wonderful sense of humour, which made me feel so comfortable. Service was prompt and attentive, without being intrusive….the perfect balance. The atmosphere in the inn was ‘buzzing’. A lovely mixture of laughter and conversation. The inn was decorated beautifully for Christmas….perfect for the style of an old, traditional inn. I loved the red bauble in the window. Onto the food….I had a delicious chickpea salad, with the most dreamy of salad dressings. The side of chips were perfection….that’s all I can say. I finished with the apple crumble, because I had to, and I’m so glad I did. It was truly scrumptious. Like grandma used to make. Proper like. I completed my visit, with a walk in the beautiful garden, that was all lit up with twinkling lights. It looked stunning. I walked away from The Spaniard Inn with a full belly and a full heart. It was like saying farewell to a old/new friend. What a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Thank you.

Went for a Sunday roast. I love the place but it is locate practically in the middle on no where but that's part of it beauty. Second time here, the food is really good but.. Had a Sunday roast inside but decided to have the desert in the huge garden outside since the weather was nice and warm. I do understand been busy and maybe be under staff, but while inside we take ages to pay, outside it's been a nightmare. Asked for a seat and been waiting for place our order but no one was outside, finally got someone that in the beginning wanted us to move but when we advice we been seated, he left us without an explanation. He won't take our order because wasn't his job, stopped a girl on the area just on our side and been told wasn't her area. Went to the bar and been told to go to the inside bar. Went to the other bar where several staff was standing on the side of the kitchen door and been told that we need to order outside 🤯 then i lost it and they send someone outside, no apologies nothing. Over all, good food, good location but I am no sure it's worth the effort.

We had a really lovely Sunday meal with the family at Spaniards inn today. When we arrived we were seated upstairs and the only reason I booked is because of the lovely fireplaces which turns out were downstairs. I guess you have to make a special request for this so have definitely learnt this lesson for the future. I did book more than a month in advance too. When we arrived there were no other guests and there was no heating on. When we asked the waiter about this his attitude was a little rude and was reluctant to turn the heating on which was very inhospitable. The service was a little slow at times given that they were fully booked. However the food was lovely and we had a great time. Great flavours and great portion sizes. There was a great family vibe and there’s parking on the premises which was great. I’d recommend some Christmas music around this time of year to bring in a greater atmosphere. We had lots of different dishes as a family- see pics. We loved the charm of the building. We’ll definitely be back!

Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon with friends having a Sunday roast which was fantastic, followed by almost all of the desserts they offer for us to share (my favourite was the apple and damson crumble with custard(of course)). Dog friendly too which just makes the experience even more inviting. Already planning our return for the BBQ they have on offer, which also looks fantastic. Reputation justified.

We came for Sunday roast at the last minute and it was one of the only places in Hampstead with a bit of availability the day we wanted and who seemed to provide the quality we wanted. We were lucky to get a reso because it was packed when we got there and the wait for walk-ins was hours. I chose it based on photos of the meat. There's nothing I dislike more with a roast than overcooked meat. Between the photos here and a review that mentioned even later in the day, the meat is still juicy and perfectly cooked had me hooked. And it lives up to it! It was a very traditional Sunday roast experience. When we arrived, we were told right away that due to the number of guests, mains may take a while to arrive. Which was fine. We ordered some starters and drinks, and while it was quite a long wait, it wasn't as long as they estimated. The food was good. The meat in the chateaubriand was absolutely cooked to perfection, exactly like we asked for. Don't worry about dry meat here. They are excellent meat cooks. All the veg were done exactly how I like my sunday roast veg done and really tasty. The Scotch eggs were very overcooked, almost hardboiled and not well seasoned meat. The scallops were slightly overcooked but nothing that took away from how tasty they were; I quite enjoyed them. It was nice to finally have a scallop dish that the pork doesn't overpower the delicate flavour of shellfish. My biggest disappointment was the Yorkshire pudding. It was really overbaked to the point of crunchy with nothing inside. I like a nice bit of dough inside as well, but this was basically just a shell of really crisp, heavily baked crust. Even the gravy couldn't quite soften it. It got really hot and humid inside which was a bit much, and they could have opened a window maybe. Quite stuffy so we ate quickly. We were going to get dessert, but it was so hot and we had already been there for 2.5 hours. It was dark by the time we left. So, if you are in no hurry, this inn is a great place to get legit quality roast.

So. If you go on foot be very careful crossing the road that separates it from the footpath. It's well worth risking life and limb for (if a little £££) Beautifully preserved and a very welcome open fireplace

Our entire experience here was great. It was a really hot day so we chose to eat outside. We were a large party of 8 but, for the most part, we received our food in a timely manner. There was one mix up with a meal but it was quickly rectified and removed from the bill immediately as way of apology. The food was amazing! Lots of choice and options for vegan/vegetarian and those with allergies. It was well presented, generous portions and extremely tasty. The drink selection was great too. Water and glasses were out on the bar to help yourself too as well as water and treats for dogs too. Staff were pleasant and eager to help. I will definitely return on my next trip.

Haven’t been to Spaniards since the beginning of pandemic. Lovely to go back. But the number of outdoor tables stunned me. So close to each other . Their bbq menu was the best. Haven’t had such a nice burger for a long time. And the baked potatoes were really nice. Staff as friendly as usual. It’s just so good to be back.

Amazing place with a beautiful garden! Me and my partner went there because we saw it on the road and were looking for somewhere to eat and what a good decision! We had no hopes to get a table as it was sunny and looked busy but they fit us in the ONLY sunny table they had, which was just what we wanted, a meal in the sun! The smell of bbq was amazing and made us so hungry. We ordered bbq burgers and they were simple but delicious! Staff was very friendly and welcoming too :) 100% recommended! (pic thaken from a video so it doesn't make enough justice!!)

Place is lovely, pub is beautiful, unique and really charming. The garden space is lovely. Dropping a star cause it's a shame they don't allow you to have a drink inside even though all tables were empty when we arrived and they were still empty when we left. Also the manager that informed us about this was a bit dry, seemed stressed and didn't give the warmest welcome

Popped in for lunch, hadn’t booked but as it was earlier in the session we were able to get a table. Does get busy so will definitely book beforehand next time. Food was good and served fairly quickly considering how busy it became. Friendly and welcoming staff and good value for money.

Fully booked indoors on Sunday early afternoon. So make reservations unless you don’t mind sitting outdoors. It was cold but outdoor seating came with heat lamps. This worked just fine for us. Free parking is also available for customers.

Stumbled across this cosy little pub after a walk in the Heath. I had the chicken & brie pie which was really tasty and filling. Service was great, staff were very attentive. I’ll be back for sure - very keen to try the roasts!

Beautiful pub with a rich history close to Hampstead heath. I booked one month in advance for the Sunday roast in a quiet room with a fire place and few tables. We ordered the Sunday roast, cheese cauliflower, baked camembert and a scotch egg. The roast was good, although not one of the best I had (which wasn't in London to be fair). The Yorkshire puddings were excellent, not too greasy, not burned, full marks. The vegetables were a bit bland, and the cauliflower slightly bitter. The meat was good, although too well cooked for my taste. You can't really go wrong with baked camembert Our server was lovely and very patient. My quest for the best Sunday roast in London doesn't end here, but I might be back to enjoy the location, interiors and overall solid food.

I love this pub! Perfect location for a break after you've been trampling around Kenwood and Hampstead more generally. Wooden bar and tables, roaring fire, what a welcome! Although, the only reason why I gave them only 4 stars for 'atmosphere' is because where we were sat, it was bloody cold and the radiator didn't come on! This was partly my fault as we were offered different chairs but I chose a spot near the window, with wooden paneled seats. The staff were very friendly, chatty and knowledgeable when we asked questions about the menu, they even gave us blankets to keep us warm (maybe I should give them 5 stars after all?). The steak pie was delicious, obviously handmade, crusty pastry was yummy, as you can see in my pictures! Good to know we walked in without a reservation at 12 midday but I would always check if they have any spaces beforehand, if possible because they fill up very quickly! Overall. Warm, friendly service, delicious food, very cosy surroundings, top pub, but check for availability bettor hand.

5 stars: Lovely historic pub with cute rooms to grab a drink in. 3.5 stars: Food was pretty average - so I'd skip that. Had a bottle of champers, red wine, camembert starter, 4 mains (2 burgers, 1 chicken pie, 1 steak), 2 sticky toffee puddings & the bill was ~£266. Nothing particularly special, and the garlic in the camembert was raw (so that beautiful stench stayed through the next day!).

Beautiful pub with a beautiful outdoor seating area that has heating for when it's cold. The drinks are really nice too. Recently went for a roast which was lovely, I'd recommend booking in advance if you can as this place is very popular especially if you intend to go for a Sunday roast! The staff were lovely and very helpful.

The best meal we have had in London in perhaps the past 6 months. Perfect end to our walk through Hampstead Heath. We had the fish and chips and the half chicken roast. Very tasty Sunday Roast. Definitely a must if you are in London!

This pub is impressive inside and out. It has a good selection of craft beers. Three cask ciders were on when I visited. The Beyond Meat vegan burger was the best I've ever had due to their unique relish. Very friendly staff. Loads of outdoor seating too and a good size car park. I really couldn't fault this place.

A very historic, cool pub/restaurant that dates back to 1585! Lovely cozy atmosphere and friendly, welcoming staff. Food was delicious too! Definitely a place to visit if you’re in the area. Close by the Kenwood House too.

Always fantastic food and atmosphere in this quintessential English pub. Wonderful pub lunches and Sunday roasts. Dog friendly. Lovely beer garden. Booking highly recommended on weekends

Pretty decent place to get a bite to eat. Beer choices are NOT amazing. Too much macrobrew and not enough unique selection. Pub menu could be a bit more traditional, too (no bangers and mash?!?). And a lot of people smoking on the patio, would be better if they sectioned it off better. Burger was ok. Fish and chips a bit bland. Fries and triple cooked chips were really good. Service was good, but we were told to pay before they brought us our food. Not sure if that was due to a shift change or if that's normal, but it was weird. Bathrooms were nice and very clean.

We have been going to Spaniards for years; unfortunately, recently, the food quality has been dropped, portions got smaller, and the price has gone up! The last time, The fish and chips weren't great, the fish wasn't crispy at all and not much taste! Very disappointed 🙁 On the upside, the staff are friendly and welcoming. With this quality and price, I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Lovely pub in Hampstead Heath to relax and refresh. Post pandemic means the food has gone gourmet food style. Fish and chips are perfect, my duck salad was good but with something missing. Prices are not cheap. So you make a real occasion out of this pub experience

Beautiful place with great food. The pub is nested in a corner of Hampstead, and they serve many vegan food options as well as very traditional dishes. They had the BBQ going and we could get some great burgers with fries. Great variety of beers and wines. Dog friendly, they have a huge beer garden with many covered sits. It’s a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere, a great way to take a break between walks in the beautiful surroundings 😊
