The local team here is less friendly than the team that launched this location. The launch team was so friendly, kind, and accepting of all personalities/types of people. Today was the third time in three weeks I’ve not been greeted (not even a nod) from the baristas. This particular team often seems to be absorbed in some story amongst themselves. They can be so unaware that they forget to greet a half dozen customers in a row. One person will take your order, yes, but the others can seem totally unaware you’re in the store. Then they produce your coffee without even looking at you. Just plop it down on the counter and announce it. Maybe as Gentlemen expands the most friendly staff goes to other locations? For example, the one around the corner in Borough Market is friendlier. The coffee is still very very good, but try Birds Hill Coffee around the corner if you want the same level of coffee… but with the friendly atmosphere Gentlemen used to have.

Unpleasant experience with the barista whose behaviour was not that of a gentleman. I accidentally took someone else’s drink from the serving area. There was nobody else standing by the area at the time, I had ordered and paid and no system of asking for a name was used. The drink was sitting on the side. When I left the shop and took a sip, I realised it was not a flat-white which I had ordered and was not a coffee at all. I took it back to the shop and explained that I had mistakenly taken the wrong drink. Rather than a gracious response, the young male barista, shook his head disappointedly and said “have you now”. He then continued to show a level of irritation and treated me like it was all my mistake and said that he wasn’t obliged to make me another coffee even though I had yet to receive one. He also commented that he would have asked before taking a drink off the serving counter. As I say there was nobody else around the counter and as I had ordered and paid, I assumed it was for me. The baristas were also distracted chatting together and did not notice me taking the drink. This also took a while as I had to take a lid and this involved separating out several lids - I think if he had been a bit more focused he would have noticed that I was taking somebody else’s drink. Perhaps you should introduce a system for calling out the name of the drink that has been made and taking a name rather than being rude to your customers. I often have a coffee at Monmouth and was pleased to have found a less busy alternative around the corner so it is a shame the service was below what I would expect on this occasion. The coffee was fine in the end!

Excellent coffee. Myself and a colleague have been going there several times a week for the past year and it's honestly such a joy each time we visit. Great service and conversation from Ernie, Farah, Cecile, and Tal. It's such a pleasure when your baristas take the time to talk you through the coffee and what their own opinions and preferences are. Always receive great chat, service, and coffee from the GB team. They're all brilliant and an absolute credit to the brand.

Looked great from the outside.... embarrassingly , I asked for a flat white. Double embarrassing I wanted a sweetener in it.(too hip for them to stock) Fortunately it was so cold that I was able to gulp it down, also so little coffee taste that didn't need the sweetener anyway! £3.20 for some warm milk with a large side of attitude.

Friendly young staff. Choice is limited but what we took was really good. The cheese tomato croissant was very nice, the caramel cake also, the chocolate cookie. Cappuccino was tasty. A cosy stop for a quick breakfast.

The cafe is great. We had avocado on toast with poached egg with oat latte. The food was so delicious and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The staff is great, but we came at a very busy time and food took a while. it was totally worth the wait. Would highly recommend it!

I like Gentleman Baristas and since the one in Jerwood Space closed down I’ve been to this one twice and didn’t mind as it looks small and cute from the outside. I went in on a Saturday in July once around 1.30 pm noting they close at 3pm on Saturdays but was told they were closing in 30 mins. Nevertheless I had my coffee and left at 2pm as they told me they were closing. I went again today but had the most annoying experience I’ve ever had in a coffee shop. One of the baristas was SO LOUD. She was talking to customers really loudly and then chatting to her colleague throughout again very loudly. I understand coffee shops are noisy but honestly this killed the vibe so I left. I think the barista just needs to be conscious of her speaking volume as there are others sitting in the coffee shop. I’m not one to write reviews unless I really have some feedback to give (good and bad both) and feel this needs to be fed back.

I go here every morning. I work at a business in the area and we’ve got to that point where the staff knows us well even gives us some discount. Great coffee of course and lovely staff.

I came here because it was the only coffee place without a crazy queue on market day. It’s really nice inside and the person who served me was fine. The plain croissant was pretty average, quite heavy and butter heavy. Not my style. The flat white was ok, nothing special. I’d try again for coffee as maybe was off day.

As my hands were undeniably frozen, I was too focused on getting a cup of warm beverage in my hands to take a picture of the beautiful coffee art that topped off the wonderfully brewed and composed flat white this cafe offered me! However, I did have time to appreciate the spacious interior which poses as a good study/work place, a spot to read or even go for a friendly catch up!

Great little street cafe set up. Fitting exterior and tasteful interior. Friendly staff & efficient service. Coffee - 8.2: a great cup. Flavour is mellow and very drinkable. Their blend is good for day drinking and has well selected fruity notes. The milkwork is expertly done. Highly recommend this place over nearby Monmouth. It’s quieter, more efficient and most important of all…the coffee is far better.

Went in this morning, very nice latte, strong but not bitter and smooth. Several tables indoors and outdoors to enjoy your nice cup of coffee, highly recommended.

I highly recommend this coffee place. Fara and her team are very friendly and always happy to chat with you and help you chose your coffee. The food is really good as well and they have a large selection of hot/cold drinks. It’s our favourite local coffee shop! In addition to that, if you have a dog, this is the best place to come, they absolutely love dogs and have treats. It has become my dog’s favourite of place in London! Thanks for the amazing drinks and the nice chats xx

Was a bit surprised by the prices in here. Almost 4 pounds for a flat white - I think that's eye-watering for 6 oz of liquid. Its less than Monmouth coffee charge, and the coffee is not as good sorry. £2.80 for an esperesso! For a single espersso!? Come on, most ordinary people cannot afford that. I think if you charge premium premium prices, the coffee has to be exceptional, or you charge 3 quid, and its ok. But 3.80 for a regular coffee, nah, i think thats when I feel like something needs to be said (and I very rarely give reviews). Otherwise nice cheerful staff and nice place (no ill feeling towards them! Only issue is with the prices!)

Amazing stuff, super friendly and able to custom your requests! I always have a great chat with them! I love their discount policy and participation in Buzzcard program! The only pity part: they don’t have almond milk anymore :( but you can enjoy all other alternatives: oat, coconut and soy milk. If you have a sweet tooth: brownies are simply yum!!!!

I was craving a coffee when we were so lucky and found this place. Very friendly and kind wee café with great cappuccino, and music taste! I don’t know whether it was caused by the coffee but I left in completely different mood for the rest of my day! Thank you

Great coffee, good toasts, not many other options. Ideal for a quick breakfast. Pet friendly.

The customer service is very poor. The new management seems to be always in a rush and unkind and frazzled in how they deal with customers. It used to be one of my favourite places but no longer is. We weren’t helped when we asked about how to use our embargo points, we weren’t allowed to sit upstairs even though it was nearly midday, we weren’t given the discount for using a keep cup- the communication was very unkind. This has happened a few times lately. The old timers are lovely but the lead people behind the counter who are new have room for growth in how they deal with customers.

Lovely coffee shop that I visit most days. The team are really friendly. Special shout out to Juliana who is always really smiley and helpful. She make the best coffee! Cal D always provides a warm and welcoming hello which brightens up any day, a true coffee guru that takes extra special attention to measuring out the coffee, brewing at the optimum temperature etc. He has a great future in coffee.

I enjoyed flat white, cappuccino is too milky. Milk was a bit overheated. Anyway, it is much much better than 99% London coffee shops with “chocolate on top of cappuccino”
