😠 The swimming pool is nice. But the receptionist are very rude especially Russel. He is always angry and rude to the people. I was once in swimming pool when I saw him having a go on one guy who had children with him. He made his daughter scared and cry. I wish the manager can do something about this... People often mention swimming, staff, pool, centre, customer, rude, good, great, service, broken,

The swimming pool is nice. But the receptionist are very rude especially Russel. He is always angry and rude to the people. I was once in swimming pool when I saw him having a go on one guy who had children with him. He made his daughter scared and cry. I wish the manager can do something about this. He should talk to Russell to change his behaviour especially in front of children. If the receptionist are nice and friendly, this place should be a home for everyone.

While the facilities, classes and class instructors are all nice, the customer service is very poor. I have repeatedly experienced rude behavior from staff over the last couple years. At this centre, it seems that the customer is always at fault, not even acknowledging their own flawed system (e.g. entrance gates, etc.) for a second. Professional etiquette and customer service should be part and parcel of any service-oriented business, which is clearly not the case here. This is why I will cancel my membership after all.

Weights area of the gym way too busy - can be difficult to even get from one side to the other there's so many people. Sometimes gym is randomly closed - they don't bother to email to warn you, so have wasted a trip a few times.

Ever since Southwark council took over, this gym has been going downhill. Fewer than half the treadmills work and the aircon is perpetually broken, meaning it’s nearly impossible to use the gym anyways as it’s unbearably hot. The turnstiles don’t work to get into the gym, meaning sometimes you have to queue for at least 15 mins to get in. It’s also extremely dirty. I always notice black marks all over my trousers if I use a mat. While it’s inexpensive, it’s still £30 down the drain if you can’t use the facilities due to them being broken. I would advise to look at other alternatives until the council can get their act together and run this properly.

Is there a way to give less than 1 star? I go the The Castle to play badminton every week. However, today I wanted to make a complaint about the badminton area being too hot and without air ventilation - as it used to be till few weeks ago. The receptionist I first talked to, seemed she couldn’t care less so I have asked her if I could speak to a manager …..and this guy came to the reception. I tried to explained him the issue, and ask him when the AC would have been fixed. He kept interrupting me, telling me to “stop patronising him”, and that I was making him look stupid….. he kept saying that there’s never been air conditioning. I am not sure how I managed to stay calm: he was very aggressive, arrogant and rude. After few minutes he acknowledged that the vents are broken (which causes the room being incredibly hot). When I’ve asked when this will be fixed he rudely said “I don’t know”, like he wasn’t his problem. I’ve never had such a poor customer service.

The sports courts are good in terms of lighting. But there are few holes in the badminton nets which need to be changed ASAP. The receptionist is really rude and unfriendly. He didn’t allow us to get in. We waited for 15 minutes at the entrance. Wasted my time! Better go when this guy is not at reception.

Have been coming here for a few years - but recently the gym has gone downhill. Lots of equipment in the gym doesn't work and the AC seems to be constantly broken. Since the Council has started running it, the facilities appear poorer. The pool is still great, however.

Absolutely shocking attitude from the majority of staff who are dismissive, rude and incompetent. Following the staff being unreasonably aggressive during our last visit, we cancelled our memberships on the spot. Not sure who is ultimately in charge at this centre, but it is obvious looking at the other reviews that we aren't the only ones who have had this experience of the staff. In addition, the air conditioning on the gym floor hasn't worked for the last month (with no resolution in sight), making it unbearable. The gym floor itself has a decent amount of equipment, albeit slightly dated.

Great local fitness/leisure centre. The pool and sauna (which is what I go there to use) is clean and at a good temperature. The showers are great, with a really good pressure! I had a look at the gym and the studios too, they look good. The bit I don't like is the way the pool sessions are booked. I'd like more flexibility with being able to come and swim, but that may just be my preference. That's why it's 4 stars not 5

This is main health centre for people who live in Elephant and Castle and surrounding areas. It has a training pool and a medium size main pool. Both cater for women and other groups, with dedicated times where they have exclusive access. The Castle (Health Centre) has a modern fully equipped gym and weights room. As it is fairly new and purpose built I would recommend it to the younger generations but it does feel a little rough around the edges. Their cleaning, maintenance and customer care needs a little improvement.

I don't really go to the gym much but the Moroccan cafeteria there is my favorite, I have tried almost everything, food coffee, smoothies and protein shakes; 5 stars. They should have them as receptionists.

Phones never get answered so I popped In to ask my question. I was standing in reception area for 15mins waiting to speak to someone whilst the girls behind the desk were chattering away amonst themselves. When they finally noticed me they called me over with such an attitude that I cancelled my membership there and then. I felt so uncomfortable and u welcome. Disgusting service I do not recommend.

Hi my own experience is most of the staffs at the reception are very rude and not friendly at all. The only reason why I come there is because it's convenience to my area. They are not welcome I really don't like going there. The pool is beautiful, I enjoy going to the swimming the places are amazing.

Be aware of criminals operating in lockers areas! Criminals who may be members of staff skilfully remove locks and open your lockers and specifically target your phones and wallets! It has just happened at Seven Islands leasure centre in London. The management will just tell you that the lockers rooms do not have cctv! No action is being taken by management to tackle this crime! Management should look at the matter seriously and install security cameras to protect your property but they don't, somehow assisting these criminals to hit and hit again!

I hope I could give this center zero I would. It has happened few times before the pandamic and even now their staffs are not helpful at all they talk to customers with a hate voice. They charged my friend £250 instead of £25. It took us an age until we could get the money back. If you get stuck with anything like missing stuff, paying mistake or any other issues they just not help you at all. We stopped our 6 children lessons because of their poor manners they told us they dont care we don't go back. We don't care they loss money for 6 lessons every month as well.

I had my swimsuit stolen here at the leisure centre. Staff were really unhelpful and unsympathetic. There was no support on reporting lost items. Staff acted as if it was my fault and as if things are expected to be lost or stolen in the leisure centre. Normally if it had proper customer service they would at least ask to liaise with cleaning staff and check the roster, or ask the customer to take a name or number down to report it. It was handled appallingly, the lady just pushed the monitor infront of the front desk and tried to ignore me. It was really upsetting. I feel this leisure centre has really gone down hill in quality and customer service. Its really disgusting the lack of customer service to people who pay to use the leisure centre. And the worst part is who would steal some ones dirty swimming custome. Theives definitely operate here and the people run the place don't care too much about improving things either.

I've moved to the area recently and have been taking advantage of the free "gym and swim" offered to Southwark residents, and have just finished the course of free swimming lessons on offer. I've had a really good time so far! There are a couple of outstanding maintenance issues (broken hairdryer in the men's changing room, broken lock on one of the shower doors, sauna always out of action) but given that it's free, I really can't complain. I'm certainly much more physically active than I would have been otherwise. The pool is really good.

Beautiful sports hall and great for badminton. Nice and new, clean overall. But one downside is this centre is not great when it comes to hydration. There's only one water fountain by the sport hall on the 2nd floor apart from one by the swimming pool, which is either only slowly working or not working at all. Two vending machines from the top floor are out of order. The only one working is by the reception, which is card only, and a bottle of water costs £1.85. I'm not keen on wasting plastic bottles like this, not to mention spending so much for water. And the cafe is not open as far as weekday daytime is concerned.

Well equiped gym and swimming pool with sauna. Relatively busy, but clean. A very diverse public. You may need to request some gym equipment from the staff office. Other than that, the gym is being kept in good condition and tidy. Management has an unwavering attitude towards people using equipment carelessly or in an unsocial way and don't scare from confronting them. Seeing the centre manager and staff training themselves in the gym inspires a good level of confidence. But it's true what others posted about the reception team: they are not the most welcoming staff compared to other sites in the borough.

I 100% recommend Nicole for both 1:1 and group swim. Went from total beginner to being confident in my front crawl and backstroke. Within 4 months I was doing lengths and really enjoying swimming.

The Gym is old, filthy, smelt like feces & half of the equipment was rusted stiff. The pool is grimy & has a bad rep for this. Even walking into the center their was mess & mud on the floor posters fallen down & not picked up, rude & unhelpful staff. I was so upset by this as before I had moved to London I was using the South Oxhey leisure center & that was lovely! Incredibly disappointed with this & have had to cancel my membership :(

The gym seems adequate when not too busy. But you can only use the sauna during the day until 4pm - I'm really not sure why - defeats the point of having a sauna for me

Been using this Centre for years now but suddenly they have decided to stop Lane swimming! Why? This was a time when serious swimmers could do lengths in fast, slow or medium lanes. We are now bumping into each other and I cannot do my lengths with ease. Thought we were supposed to be encouraging keeping fit not just playing around in the pool. This is ridiculous!

We book swimming lessons for my 6 years daughter and pay by direct debit but on the day of her first class they said that has been cancelled. Try to explain my little daughter, when she was ready for her first class. Broken 💔 heart. On top of this now I have to go to the bank and cancel the direct debit. Because the next swimming lessons that we can get, it's after one month. Again, explain to the little one that she has to wait for this long time.

This place is so dirty and unwelcoming that I'm not going there anymore with my kids. The water in both pools is ice cold, the toilets are simply disgusting, half of the showers are always broken and staff is walking in dirty trainers just next to the pool where we had baby swimming. In addition, most of the staff members are rude and extremely unfriendly. A sad place.

We have Nicole for 1-2-1 swimming lessons for my 4 year. She is very engaging and adapts learning techniques to the child. My little girl is in stage3 at age 4 thanks to Nicole.

Love this coffee place. We adore our regular server and the personalized attention we get, the paninis are very tasty and have a Moroccan sprinkle. I don't use the sport centre much but If you’re in the neighborhood it’s well worth the visit for a great cup of coffee and freshly made smoothies.

My children have been receiving one on one swimming classes from Nicole for almost a year now. They love her and have improved remarkably, all thanks to the great teaching. Super friendly and fun, but also a very concientious teacher. She really cares about the kids :-). Highly recommend.

Excellent, modern facilities in a great location, let down by poor management. The reception staff looked totally bored and inconvenienced when I wanted to enquire something, despite there being no customers before or after me. The men's changing rooms smelled unclean.

It is expensive for the machines they have, not good condition either. The receptionist guy (I think his name is Lip/Lee) is really rude, I have no idea why he is there, not good customer service at all. I already regret signing up and I have come once. Also the policy "not fee but one month deposit" (??) And you have specific days to cancel your membership or they will take your payment + deposit of course.

With the new recent changes, getting in and out of the centre is a bit tricky, and the new app needs to time to get used to. However I think this is still a great place to exercise, especially if you are a Southwark resident, where you can ask for the free gym and swim scheme. Free weights go up to about 40kg on the barbells and dumbbells, squat racks and bench presses have rubber plates that are easy to handle. Many treadmills, mats provided.

My daughter has just started 1:1 swimming lessons at the Castle with Nicole and have found our experience to be excellent. Nicole is very enthusiastic and passionate teacher who has a wonderful and engaging way with children. She is very patient and able to adapt lessons to the skills of her students and my daughter is really enjoying her weekly sessions. I have also found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful and the changing facilities are generous in size and clean.

Gym equipment is old and lots broken. Gym is also massively oversubscribed and busy. Pool is always booked up and sauna steam room seem out of action more than in action. Changing rooms unsafe with lockers getting broken into. Whole place feels tired and outdated.

Lovely staff members that are very supportive with my studio bookings. Great space. Will keep coming back for more studio hires! The only suggestion I have is for better lighting controls and the ability to move the blinds up and down, but otherwise extremely happy!

Located in the heart of London, Castle Centre is a vibrant and bustling market that offers a diverse range of products, food, and cultural experiences. With its central location, this market has been a staple of the community for years and continues to draw in locals and tourists alike. One of the highlights of Castle Centre is the wide variety of fresh produce and international foods available. From Middle Eastern spices to European vegetables, the market reflects the multicultural nature of the area and provides an opportunity to sample flavors from around the world. Additionally, there are numerous stalls selling clothing, accessories, and household items, making it a great place to find unique and affordable goods. The atmosphere at Castle Centre is lively and energetic, with vendors calling out their wares and shoppers haggling for the best deals. It's a great place to immerse yourself in the local culture and get a sense of the community spirit that thrives in this part of London. While the market can get crowded at times, especially on weekends, it's well worth the visit for the authentic experience and the chance to discover some hidden gems. Whether you're looking for fresh ingredients for a home-cooked meal or simply want to soak up the vibrant atmosphere, Castle Centre is a must-visit destination in London. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Castle Centre for a taste of the diverse and lively atmosphere that makes London such a unique city.

I'm n 3/9/21 I booked two slots for badminton for 8/9/21. We were in a group of four and we all turned up for the slots as instructed only to be told that our booking was cancelled. The receptionist was watching a video on his phone when we arrived and he told us that someone tried to ring and left a voice message on my phone to inform me about the cancellation. When I asked why no email was sent toe, he said don't shoot the messenger. This is very unprofessional, not to mention what he said was a lie as there was no voice message left on my phone. So we got very disappointed and ended up not being able to play badminton at all.
