DANGER: FOOD POISONING Review update: 15/10/2023 I am updating this review after vomiting and not being able to sleep due to nausea that lasted for hours. I had dinner on the night prior to this. I am never eating there again. Review update: 10/09/2023 - No air conditioning. The place is hot and sticky during summer. - The lighting in this pub is getting dimmer and dimmer because nobody replaces the lights that are either broken and need replacing. - Dirty tables and chairs. Same problems as always: Lazy managers, who are always absent, have no intention of fixing such problems. Unfortunately they are not ready for that conversation. Review Update: 6/5/2023 Two stars for the positives. - The drinks are good. - The food is good. Knocked off three stars for the following reasons: The staff are awful. Poorly trained and rude. There is always new staff here who don't know what they are doing. They never seem to know what drinks to serve. I'm a regular here. I know what drinks I order for my friends as well as for myself. So whenever I ask for a certain drink they always say "We don't serve that." That's rubbish. Yet they insist that such a drink doesn't exist. This is when I request to speak to the manager since he is more informed of the drinks than the staff. The manager has to intervene to deal with something simple. This has happened several times now. It's ridiculous. This is because the managers are so lazy they don't bother to train their staff properly. Poorly trained staff leads to poor customer service. Sort yourselves out. Updated review: 6/2/2023 Previously I used to be a regular here because the previous manager did a fantastic job of running this pub efficiently. But now that's no longer the case. Now that the previous manager is gone, whoever this new manager is, is abysmal. The staff are rude. There is always new staff who are not trained and don't know what they are doing. They are so rude and lazy. Every time I order a certain drink their immediate response is "We don't sell that" and I have to remind them that they do. Whether it's a beer or a cider they claim they don't have it. My friends and I have been buying these drinks in this pub for years. It's clear they can't be bothered to get the drinks or keep the fridges stocked. They constantly complain to me that they have to go "all the way downstairs" to get it. This is not professional customer service. It's disgusting. I do NOT want to hear that when I go anywhere. I don't tolerate such bad attitude. The service of the food has gone downhill too. As we know, the kitchen closes at 11pm. On two occasions my friends wanted to order some food even though it was before 11pm and the staff would say "No. The kitchen is closed." When in fact it wasn't. Due to such a response we had to complain to the manager who eventually made the staff take their orders. This is not one individual we're talking about here, it's every single staff member who start working here untrained and have the nerve to mistreat customers. Such rudeness from staff is unacceptable. The service has also slowed down. The lack of hospitality here is ruining this pub. The place is dirty and needs tidying. Nearly every single time I come here there are tables that need cleaning even when the pub is not busy. Another clear indication of the lack of attention from the staff. They need to sort themselves out because right now things need improving, quickly.

Dirty. Staff and management don't care. Lucky this is one of the pubs not closing, should be, and keep another site open. I visit a few spoons on a regular basis, this place has the least busiest bar, but yet place is a mess, nobody cleaning tables, tables not wiped, glasses/bottles everywhere on a lot of visits.

We went here for breakfast and ended up spending the whole day. Breakfast was nice with refillable coffee which I took full advantage of. If I had to sum up my visit in three words. It would be:- Cheap & Cheerful!

Visited here this evening and was quiet disappointed with the cleanliness of the venue. The bar was very untidy and by the looks of it hadn’t been wiped down for hours. Maybe short staffed but it wasn’t particularly busy. PED looked grimey too.

This had to be the best local weatherspoons, it offers very cheap meals and drinks. Located on Southgate High Road, this has been the go to for the regulars over the years. The all-day breakfast went down a treat, perfect proportions and very tasty. Customer service is always a pleasure. 5* Would recommend from overall experiences.

Good budget friendly place to escape from the streets for a pint and a bite to eat. Staff are amazing and helpful. The only time that annoyed me was a rowdy crowd shouting not shown the door leading up to Christmas. I'll put that down to a bad day as I do enjoy most of my visits here

Visited on a Thursday. Fairly busy. Drinksand food as usual very reasonably priced. The two young lads serving us were the stars. Always willing to accommodate us and very friendly and actually looked like they enjoyed serving us. Nothing was too much trouble. Made our night enjoyable.

Nice enough wetherspoons, although i can't say much as i was only there briefly for a couple of pints before a dinner next door. However, it seemed plenty large enough with ample seating and a nice interior. Also, just up the road from a train station so it's perfect for those who may need to travel by train to get home. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to experience it in its fullest.

The pub was two thirds empty, but impossible to have a conversation due to groups of travellers shouting at each other at the tops of their voices. Almost all the house ales were off, and the food was half cold. This pub needs a management makeover without delay. Not a pleasant experience.

This Southgate branch Wetherspoon interior is looking a bit tired. That said I must praise the theirs meal plus drink menu that is excellent value that is much needed in the rising cost of living!

Well, unfortunately work is going on above the pub so the front is covered in scaffolding. And when I was there, there was an electrical fault that caused all the lights to go out (see photos). Having said that, the staff were cheerful and the Guinness was excellent. From what I can tell, the pub is on a single level with the usual variety of seating. Although it's dark, the place still looks clean and tidy with a reasonable number of people in considering the circumstances.

I went in there to try the American breakfast. The pancakes are just so normal, not much different to those served in McDonalds, hard in the outside edges. I brought this to the attention of the staff. As I went there to the American breakfast, I said Yes to the replacement and it is okish! Would I it again? Nope! I will stick to the English breakfast which has been good on my previous visit, also reviewed.

Lovely pub, first time visit, busier than what Google times suggested, and was visiting this pub during the announcement of the Queen's death on the news. Eerie and ominous as Prince 🤴 Charles was named King whilst in the pub. Food yummy, drinks drinky.

Enjoyed breakfast here. Bought their traditional breakfast with an added slice of toast. Limitless coffee with a clean cup each time currently costs only £0.99. Excellent value. Would recommend.

Not a bad Weatherspoons. A lot cleaner than The Alfred Herring in Palmers Green. Quiet, with pleasant atmosphere and nice staff.

I enjoyed my very 1st traditional English breakfast at The New Crown (JD Wetherspoon). Harsh brown nice and crunchy, not oily, bacon is soooo yummy, not burnt, toast .. argh .. not the normal white but those big loaf, nicely toasted sausages, just rightly cooked, not shrivered .. you just have to pop in and try! I can see many regular customers walking in around 9am. The staff are cheery and helpful showing me where things are, being my first visit. Tables and seats and floor .. they are clean and not at all sticky. I will definitely go back to try their lunches. Given the vfm .. I must try and find the right time to get in 😃😃.
