Mysticism, mystery and magic. This is one of the best bookshops in London, period. Tucked in a little alley near Leicester Square, don’t miss it if you wish to reconnect to your inner spiritual and magical self.

If I could gently crawl into my happy space and be swallowed up it would be in the basement of this place. My only plea is that they would give us the courtesy of some chairs. My back and legs were killing me from walking around London and I like to read a little of a book before deciding to buy it. I really wanted quite a few but ended up plumping for just a couple (they did find an emergency plastic chair for me to perch on for 15 mins). Please make it comfier - I'm sure there's the worry that you'll attract people who take the mick but studies show you'll likely get more sales and people will feel more obliged with a bit of warmth to support you further. 🙂🙏☺️📚 Either way, I LOVE THIS PLACE it's like the akashic records on the earth lol 😂

Book heaven in the West End for the eternal Seeker. My favourite since I started my Journey in the 70's. Every type of arcane metaphysical and self help book here. Long live this oasis of knowledge and the helpful staff.

One of only a few relics of London’s esoteric past life, Watkins is a Victorian era Aladdin's Cave of books on magic, philosophy, mysticism, and religion - with a big helping of tarot cards, and all things Buddhist. Located in the narrow street that must have inspired Diagonal Alley (and parts of it filmed there), it is a shop to divest yourself of the mundane and breathe in a little of London Below, the Unseen University, and Hogwarts. Should be on the tourist trail of any London visitor.

I love this bookshop - you never know what you'll find. All sorts of books mixed up together with scientific and serious nature books rubbing shoulders with way out esoterica. Great atmosphere and friendly staff

I was introduced to Watkins Books on a Harry Potter walking tour of London. Our guide told us that it was this little street that was the inspiration for Diagon Alley. The bookshop itself is full of books for spells, traditional healing, the occult and for the soul. I overheard all manner of people with different interests asking the assistants an equally diverse range of questions which they handled with aplomb. I went in out of curiosity but came away with a broadened mind, in a good way.

Best bookshop in London. Yesterday I was at Watkins and Jaqueline gave me a runes reading. It was very nice. She is definitely a good reader. She reads 2 different sets, wood (from Holly tree) and crystals, and reads the runes with you, not only for you. She explained the runes within runes and multi layered runic meanings towards your reading. It was like a multidimensional information portal, instead of the usual flat and linear tarot readings most people do. I was very impressed. I think she reads there usually on Tuesdays.

A wide selection of books ranging from alchemy to history and myths. Lots of tarot cards available here too. It was a interesting place but nothing I particularly wanted.

Nice bookstore with books regarding magics of all kinds and spiritual books and Stones. You can have a tarrot reading there if you want although other customers will be able to hear your reading. The books are reasonably priced and the shopkeepers are friendly and very helpfull.

Loved it! Helpful, patient staff. Only downer was the closing time, so many fascinating, interesting objects to look at, I didn't notice how quickly the time just flew by. Anyway, another reason for me to go back sooner!

Great place to visit, peruse the familiar to very obscure books. Bountiful selection of Tarot cards, rocks, crystals, essential oils and much, much more. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Check out the website as well for podcasts, etc.

People inside are knowledgeable, plus if they don't have items, they can order it for you or tell you if is it possible. Some old rare books can be found as they have a section for them as well.alao, good section for Eastern tradition in terms of yoga Buddhism shamanism. You can also buy tools for magic, tarot decks, and talismans as well. there.Simply a great book store.

Really awesome store with super lovely sales assistants/humans. From my perspective they have an incredible range of books (although there is always room for improvement... maybe more Baltic paganism related books as the one for 2024?). Definitely worth a visit for tourists and locals alike! Thank you!

The is a fascinating and well established occult and new age bookstore in the heart of London, with a long pedigree. It's evocative of enchantment and has a good selection of books of all kinds, including some local presses hard to access elsewhere.

They made a mistake and sent me only one item instead of two I paid for. It took some time for them to respond after I emailed them about the issue. But they handled it very well afterwards which is something I truly appreciate.

The wealth of esoteric and occult knowledge available here is astounding. I found a few rare items and the titles published under their own imprint were high quality both in the edition and in the contents. A must visit if you’re interested in spiritual life.

Very nice book shop with variety of books and the atmosphere will bring you back in the history and you will find your self in past where the book shops were the centre of information. Amazing must visit book shop. We bought couple of books the prices were attractive too, much cheaper than airports and fancy book shops of the city.

It was an honor to finally step foot in such a famous bookstore, one that I hadn't (shockingly) heard about until the day before.

I had a lovely experience there this week, where I spent over and give checking out books and cards. They have a huge selection of second hand books and books on sale (outside and scattered throughout the store) I got seven books for £17. I'd definitely recommend and will return. Thanks!
