Shockingly bad. Literally worst gym in East London. Smells like used socks, terrible vibes. In May 2020, I locked my bike in their bike 'safe' place. On my return, my bike lock had been destroyed and my bike left unattended. When I asked about this I was told that a trainer Vivienne said my bike was locked to hers and that she had to cut it. This was a.) a lie b.) did and does not make sense. The space where customers lock their bikes, it is PHYSICALLY impossible to lock two bikes together as they are individual wall mounts... This complaint went ignored for 2 months until I finally got a reply in which the manager claimed he had evidence that my bike was locked to Vivienne's. Fast forward almost 6 months later, I still have not seen this evidence, and my countless emails and complaints have gone ignored. Would be 0 stars if it was not for the receptionists who are always lovely.

The gym is alright, definitely room for improvements! The smell that the reviews are talking about needs to get fixed soon as. Really under staffed, but I believe I had gotten a 10/10 customer service. Beside that gym is useable.

Very unfriendly place - not only smelly and dirty, but showers are all together for everyone so no one is actually taking a shower before going into the pool, and when I asked to have disabled shower changing room opened staff plainly refused, so I spent a lot of time just waiting for a shower to be empty to be able to go into water. Bunch of teenagers were looking at me when I tried to shower IN MY SWIMSUIT after leaving the pool and it was humiliating. I suffer from social anxiety so all this experience left me shaken, especially disabled showers being unavailable for the person who clearly needed privacy like I did. Just ignore this facility until they refurbish, there are much better pool around the area.

No commitment to open the gym on time, often the manager is late , so all the users have to wait outside on the cold until someone with the key decide to wake up

The gym is awful, starting from the weights area finishing with the staff. If you want to attend a class and cancel it less then 4 hours before, they will charge you £3.50 but they don't pay attention when the instructor will attend the class 20/30min late every time. Usually the spin class should last 60min, but the instructor always comes 20min late. Very disappointing. I will not recommend it at all for £35 monthly. There is much better around Clapton/Hackney.

Absolutely disgusting and filthy place, especially the main pool and changing rooms, I agree with the review below it smells terrible in there. The staff are all very rude, and the so called lifeguard there was so backwards, he said to me I can’t watch in the pool area, I wasn’t going to watch I was going in the pool and when I told him this he said it’s because of my attire he thought I wasn’t going to swim, I was wearing a burkini, when I explained its for religious purpose he was like whatever I just thought you was there to watch in such a rude manner. No apology or anything. The way he spoke to me was unacceptable, there is a way of talking to people and the way he spoke to me was disgusting exactly like the place. I would strongly advise to avoid this place at all cost.

I recently visited this place and unfortunately had a disappointing encounter with one of the receptionists. She was rude and unhelpful, which left me feeling unwelcome during my visit. As a regular patron, I value the importance of good customer service in any establishment. I genuinely enjoy the gym's facilities and the sense of community among fellow members, but this particular interaction was disheartening. I hope the management takes note of such instances and works on improving their customer service approach or change the staff.

Old building but kept clean by the fabulous cleaner. My children have swimming lessons here. Swimming teachers are great.

This gym is terrible! It is scheduled to open daily at 6am. God help you if you are a working person and want to do an early morning workout. They often open late. You wake up to get in for 6am but it won't open untill 8am. You have been warned!

Came here for cardiac rehab classes, so only use the gym. The building would benefit from a refurb. There's not enough toilets and when it rains the roof leaks.

Some staff are kind and helpful, not everyone, however, what really bothers me is the machines are constantly out of order, especially the leg machines for the hamstrings and the quads. The sits are ripped and you can see the sponge coming out. The management has clearly "BETTER" things to do.

The place is out of date and needs updating especially the changing area near the swimming baths. The floor and area is dirty and unhygienic and not a pleasant experience. No wonder it is.mainly deserted. Only thing I enjoy there is the gym area and the pool which is warm. Needs alot of modernising and cleaning

DON’T GO! AVOID IT AT ALL COST! The staff at reception have a ‘computer says no’ attitude, almost as if they’re doing you a favour instead of their to provide a service. The pool is, dilapidated, old, and dingy, and the lockers retain your 20p after usage - and look as though they could easily be broken into. There’s no option to even use your own padlock if you have one. This pool needs a complete refurbishment like Marsham Street baths, and staff need to be trained and supervised on top-notch customer service. If the staff were helpful, I’d give this a three star review. I won’t be going back. You’ve been warned!

The worst BETTER gym you will ever step foot in ( I have not been to all of them but i hope it does not get worse than this) . Theres one particular staff member thats rude , she should get fired. Place is a mess. Changing rooms are disgusting , you will feel icky. Toilets are dirty, everywhere just smells . Steam room and sauna has you feeling the opposite of what a spa should be.

Not good, booked through app for a swim. After I had changed and was about to get into the pool I was notified that there was a private swim session and I shouldn't have been there.

There is an issue with the app and the scanner meaning you are routinely fined a penalty for not attending classes you have attended, the only way to have this removed is to contact Customer Services, and until they remove it you cannot book classes or enter the gym. It can take several days of ignored emails and unanswered phone calls to hear from anyone, and in that time you are paying for a service you are unable to use. It's incredibly frustrating to throw away time and money due to poor service, faulty technology, and a complete disinterest from Better in doing anything to improve the situation.

Smells and there is poo in the changing room floors sometimes. Good swimming instructors for kids very friendly. Not allowed pool side so if you got beginners you have look through a door.

The swim facilities are very old. This is OK by me though would be great to get an update soon. The hygiene levels feel sub par though. I dont think the pool is open during the day during the week, only mornings and then opens at 6:40pm in the evenings. I would suggest should open from 5pm onwards for the after work crowd. At any rate, yesterday I went there at 6:40pm, the pool wasnt made accessible until 6:48pm. I was first out, so first to use the change rooms and showers in the evening block. Everything was still very wet (including the benches) with plenty of hair and abandoned overshoes. It was gross. Also having to pay 20p for the hairdryers does not reconcile with any other Better Facilitiy ive been to. I swim at London Aquatic Centre and London Fields Lido all the time and these facilities are kept clean and sanitised constantly. I can only speak for the swimming facility but its very strange that this facility is not run to the same high standard as other Better Swming Pools which Ive found are great. The pool water temperature could come down a couple degrees as well. Its hot. FYI the lockers take 20p , not £1 coins. All in all, I will use this to swim occasionally as its my closest pool, but will be showering at home. I hope the cleanliness improves.

Firstly I love better gyms for what they are (community gyms and so on), and I'm used to big quality differences between different branches but this one is seriously bad. The functional and the weights area is always a huge mess and on most weights you can't even read the numbers, so it's a guessing game. Really need new dumbbells and the staff needs to go through regularly to remind people to put stuff back.

Dimly lit, filthy gym with a terrible range of equipment and the WiFi doesn't work. Avoid.

Absolutely great instructors in my aerobics and spin classes, they bring a challenging workout and great vibes, not to be missed, my only gripe is some equipment needs updating. Overall its a good place.

Customer service here is brilliant. Trisha at the front desk and Yasmine the swimming coordinator have been incredibly accomodating and helpful. Thank you for making it so easy to use the gym facilities.

Pretty grim place to be honest. Mens changing room consistently smell like sewage. Gym is pretty dirty but seems to be gradually improving. I haven't even wanted to look at how gross I've heard the swimming pool is from my friends I use the gym with. If it was cheap I would say you get what you pay for but for the price they charge and the location, needs a full refurb to be worth it.

Polite staff. Building needs a lot of work. Little hack... Don't bother paying premium prices. You can still go to the gym by paying off peak rates and stay in the gym. Clearly not keeping tabs on peak and off peak sessions. Pool is always clean.

Pros: Staff is friendly and helpful. Makes you feel like you traveled back to 1990s. Cons: There is no Wifi or phone connection. Not enough dumbells and they’re all placed randomly. No 1kg, 4kg, 6kg dumbell pairs. Pull up bars have been removed, with only one left and it’s worn out. No 15kg plates. Rowing machines are rusty and worn out. Cable fly machine doesn’t work smoothly. Mens toilet doesn’t lock and there is no soap.

I have been going here for about 6 months.staff are friendly and available, this leisure centre has everything you need for a great workout and is always clean and sanitised with the bonus of a fresh rose aroma.

I went to purchase some items for a swimming trip abroad. The lady behind the counter was as helpful as she could be... however all other staff members were incompetent and rude. They were unable to verify simple items such as swimming goggles. One staff member went to lengths to suggest 'that they should just charge me what they want'. Management was extremely inefficient.
