Went in and asked if they had a charger before ordering. The girl there was very rude, she had two unused iPhone chargers behind her. She refused to let me use one and was very rude about it. I went to leave as I had no battery to pay for anything the manager outside stopped me and said she would let me use a charger. We went in and she picked up one of the disused chargers and put my phone on charge. She then said I had to apologise to her bar staff before serving me for being rude. I explained I had done nothing but ask for a charger, she then became rude and almost aggressive herself when I refused to apologise and I then left. All in all rude staff and unwelcoming. I’ve lived in hackney for 17 years and love the area and all the different bars in the area. But I have no time for rude staff like this. I would go somewhere a lot better, there and many places so much better than here where the atmosphere is better and the staff actually appreciate your custom No wonder it was quiet

Fantastic venue. Cross between a Witches Coven and Hell. Brilliant atmosphere. Ultra efficient bar staff. Reasonable prices £2 for diet coke. Small music venue out the back. Super sound Grave Lines were Stella. Cheers guys. Would highly recommend. !!

I have been to every single rock place in London and I must say that this one is my favourite by a mile. It's not perfect (the bathroom area could really use a urinal, the gig area is a bit too small and it can be unbelievably hot in the summer), but this place is more than the sum of its parts. In the areas where it lacks it more than makes up for in atmosphere, quality of service and sheer passion for the music. To anyone who has ever given this place a bad review and have accused the staff of being rude I can safely say that these rumours are completely untrue. If you are deserving of respect then the people here will give you respect. All in all if you want a rock n' roll night to remember all I can say is look no further than here. Recommended

My gf asked the doorman if she could use the toilet. He said yes. She said she thought it seemed a really cool place and made a mental note to tell us that’s where we should go when she met up with us. On her way out, a woman put her leg up to stop my gf from leaving. She was swearing at her and calling her all sorts of names. Saying she had to buy a drink and shouting at her. When my gf met up with us she was visibly upset and didn’t want to hang out anymore. The doorman said it was okay so this feels extremely unnecessary. She said she apologised but that didn’t seem to matter as this woman just kept shouting at her and not letting her go. I get that it’s annoying for businesses when people use the toilets but she did ask and was let in. If it was a problem, just say no? No need to swear and shout at her. Overall, aggressive and unneeded.

A-fekken-mazing. If rock/metal music is your thing, this is the place to be in London. Mystery shots as well as a full range of spirits and a wide range of beers english and import, absolutely amazing awesome decor, I can't put in words how amazing this bar is!!!!!!!!!Always a decent crowd in the bar have never experienced any trouble or problems. Music is very A+ for rock and metal fans. The food is amazing, hamburgers and hot dogs are the best with the most amazing of small touches that make all the difference. The owners are very welcoming and are always up for a good time. Go and check it out, especially if there is a themed party on, people put serious effort into their costumes, absolutely amazing!!!!!!

I'd swear this place is great, if only I could properly remember any of the nights in there.

The bar itself is rather nice, the deco is really well put together. I am not giving them a higher rating because their cider choice is pretty inexistant. P.S. the business considers that having a cloudy and cherry cider is good enough. We'll just agree to disagree. Get different brands, get Kopparberg, Old Mout, etc. Your cloudy and cherry cider just don't do it for everyone and unlike what one of your barmaids claimed it's not because I'm a goth that I don't care for what I drink.

I really wanted to give this place one star to get an epic response from their legendary social media person but just can't do it. The place has a super interesting design (and our crew has over 20 years experience of various music bars), good beers selection for reasonable prices and absolutely amazing bar staff (two girls, each very friendly and helpful beyond expectations🤩).

Classic Rock & Metal bar - killer DJ's, friendly management & staff. You'll get a well poured drink for a fair price with a great atmosphere at Helgi's.

Came here to see Attila and now I’m hooked, will be coming back often, bringing my partner for his birthday this week. One of the few remaining metal bars that doesn’t feel sanitised. -came back last night, had a great time, the music was good, the IPA and peanut butter whiskey were dangerously tasty and the two girls working behind the bar were the best

We only drank so can't rate the food, but it's a great metal bar with nice staff and reasonable prices - cool decor and vibe too. Good for small gigs. Decent selection of beers.

I like it here! It's a much bigger bar than it looks from the outside. Cozy, good music and the decor is cool. I like the dude on the bathroom ceiling. The staff are nice. I would like to know if it's dog friendly or not, because I forgot to ask 👀

I love Helgi’s. Everything about it. My wife and I were visiting London from our home in Michigan, USA. We stayed in Hackney for a week and ended up at Helgi’s almost every night. Great drinks, friendly staff, the best atmosphere. Never change a thing.

Not many rock bars in London left that can hold its own as well as Helgi’s. If you are a rocker, you wanna check this place out. 🤘🏻

Authentic metal bar with everything that entails. Lovely decor on the ground floor, interesting loo decor. Price wise, what you'd expect in the area pretty much. Definitely recommend it if you're into metal/rock music.

The description says they sell food, but when we asked they did not serve any, nor they allowed us to order from outside. 1 out of three beer taps unavailable. When asked if we could charge a phone, computer said no. Decor, music, and atmosphere was outstanding
