We ordered 2 dish. 3 items combination pork fried rice , sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken AND daily special chicken teriyaki steam rice and steam vegetables. Both cost almost $29. Its kind of pricey for the portion and quality. 1st the teriyaki chicken its taste blend. And they used the slices chicken that they use for all their chicken dishes on thier menu. Some of the chicken its not even cook thru. We found some chicken with some white sauce ( maybe they marinated chicken with some seasoning and flour and water). The taste of teriyaki chciken its no taste. Its not salty abit sweet and not teriyaki sauce at all. The steam vege and rice its fine. The 2nd dish 3 items. Pork fried rice bo taste. Sweet sour chcken the fried chicken with dough (its crispy) and teh sause its nit sweet and sour. No sour not even sweet just some wierd taste like from packing sauce. Sesame chicken basically just the chicken with no sweet and sour sauce. Hmm what its call sesame chicken?? The cashier was very friendly. Overall, not coming back again. The food its not taste very good at all. The one thing thats good steam rice, steam vegetables and the crispy chicken with no sauce. First time ever seen restaurant serve teriyaki chicken like this. Its kind of nasty! See the pictures..

Also added Egg Flower Soup, Pot Stickers, and a slice of Blue Berry Swirl ice cream cake for dessert. We loved everything except the egg rolls. They were too thick with how they wrapped it. Great size of portions, definitely enough to share. The staff was really friendly. The place was decorated so nicely. Also very clean.

After hanging out in the sun at the beach (watching the kite festival), we wanted a substantial meal. When we were sat at our table, I could smell the aromas coming out of the kitchen - so yummy! The menu has so many options that it was hard to decide. But the waitress was really helpful and knowledgeable. Everything we ordered was fresh, had great flavors, had varieties in textures, and just looked tasty. We were VERY satisfied! Totally recommend and am disappointed we live hours away - otherwise, this would be our go-to Chinese restaurant.

We were looking to get clam Chowder from The Cove, but because they were closed for a private event, we decided on Chen’s and what a delight that turned out to be! We were seated fairly quickly. Ordered our food and we were very pleased with the quality ad taste of our meals. If you’re in Long Beach, you should stop in for some delicious Chinese food from Chen’s. You will not be disappointed.

In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king... This place is totally sufficient but in the lack of options it's GREAT! The crispy sesame chicken is their best item and very delicious! Orange and lemon chicken are quite citrus-y but still really yummy and the fried rice is 10/10. The staff is really nice and helpful as well,

This is a very hard review for me. I am a huge supporter of small mom n pop restaurants, especially in small towns. But unfortunately, I have to agree with a lot of these bad reviews. My boyfriend and I have come to Long Beach a hand full if times so far and just love it here. We are always trying to eat at different restaurants to find the ones we like the best. Being the only actual Chinese restaurant in the area, I kind of had higher hopes. I tried to call in an order to go but was told "k, hold on" the phone was just put down on the counter I'm assuming and I waited for 10 minutes listening to them talk in the background. Tried calling a few more times, and it just went to voice-mail that was full. Went to the restaurant, still placing a to go order, was told the fried wonton in the pick 2/3/4 items list has no filling (just fyi). Only waited about 15 minutes for 3 mains and 2 rice dishes. Sweet n sour chicken, almond fried chicken, and general tso chicken were all the same fried pieces of chicken that were mostly the batter (literally close to 80+% batter) and the chicken was dry. Sauce smothered each dish, which made the breading very soggy and no longer had any kind of crunch from being fried. Wanted crispy fried Sesame chicken, but per the reviews said it didn't have a sauce, which didn't make sense, so we opted for almond fried chicken. The gravy was light colored instead of dark like we are used to, but it didn't taste too terrible. The sweet n sour sauce was pretty basic and actually quite bland. The same goes for the general tso sauce, slight flavor, but no spice what so ever. The house special fried rice has nice big prawns, bbq pork, and chicken that seemed almost like it was canned or maybe had been sitting in some kind of liquid. But not a marinade because it had no flavor on its own. I preferred the flavor of the house fried rice(minus the chicken) with soy sauce compared to the pork fried rice with soy sauce, but my boyfriend preferred the pork one. I happen to be allergic to coconut, so I was u able to enjoy my fortune cookie at the end of my meal. The lady who answered the phone was the same lady who seemed to be working the front counter as well as wait on the main seating area so I had to wait some time to even place the order, but otherwise seemed nice just spread to thin I think. The lady who brought out our food, I assume, was the owner or maybe the owners wife. She was very nice and accommodating. But overall, it was quite unsatisfying and bad enough that we both decided not to finish the food. We do not recommend it, and we will not be coming back. We are going actually to try to find some birds to feed it to.

Visiting from Portland and our rental is 2 blocks away. Figured since the weather was Cuddy we would get take out. By far one of the better Chinese restaurants we've had... I Must try while in town.

The food is similar to what you might find at a small strip mall. It's good, but probably won't make any connoisseur of authentic East Asian cuisine satisfied. The chow mein was really good and orange chicken, We were split on the pot stickers and egg rolls. The service was fine, but I had the feeling that they may have been a bit understaffed. Regardless, we are already talking about visiting again for that terrific chow mein.

Average food, most dishes taste the same. They could work on their flavor profiles and brighten up many of the dishes. ITS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. I ordered a dinner D and 2 egg rolls for pickup and they charged me just short of $27.

We stopped here on our vacation from out of town and let me just say DO NOT EAT HERE by far the worst food we have ever eaten I can’t believe this place is even in business. My husband and I both felt physically ill after eating and we barely put a dent in our food. Everything came out cold including the soup how is fresh soup cold ?? We mentioned to the server we were not satisfied as well as she could see we didn’t touch or like our food and she continued to bring us a full check. We were the only one in the restaurant so the fact that there standards are clearly very low is super disturbing to me. I’m honestly grossed out. The rice tasted and looked like they scooped it out of the sink after doing dishes. Ew.

I’m so sorry for this review. I and my family and another family of friends had lunch at this place. I’ve ordered fish and chips, orange chicken, shrimp fried rice and crab puffs. My friends family ordered beef fried rice and chicken fried rice. Unfortunately most of the items are frozen food’s that is fried other than rice. I’d encourage to find other places for food. May be authentic food would be close to home taste and making.

The food is absolutely terrific! Be prepared to take home leftovers. Must be under new management. We haven't eaten here in 2 years because the food tasted like it was microwaved. Whatever has happened it's for the positive. I highly recommend this Chinese Restaurant! Thank you Chens of Long Beach, Wa. for a great dining experience!

To be fair my last experience was rough. But I am a long time customer and they have varied wildly. My meal was over cooked and hard. My guest received a pleasant meal with an unpleasant result. The service was slow but within reason. And the atmosphere was pleasant enough. Oh and the price is reasonable and portions are good.

We took our family here when they were visiting. It’s pretty solid - lots of food options, well proportioned & priced well. If you are looking for Chinese on the Penisula- check it out.

A couple years ago before the pandemic we had some great Chinese food here. We ordered a very large order last night and were very disappointed. Egg Rolls seemed like they had been frozen and then warmed up so the crust was very tough. Sesame chicken was chicken that had a batter that had been deep fried and they told us the sesame seeds were in the batter. We found a just a couple sesame seeds. Tasted just like the sweet and sour chicken which is deep fried and you have to put sweet and sour sauce over it. The beef and broccoli was very good and the fried shrimp was good as long as you ate while hot or warm. Egg flower soup was a bit bland. I am sure some of this can be from lack of help and trying to save costs. We will wait again for a while and try again in the future to give them another chance.

Usually carryout which is always amazing. Went to eat in and didn't get waited on soon enough or often enough and never got the beer I ordered. Great Food! Best Chinese on the peninsula.. oh wait.. it's the only Chinese on the peninsula 😂👍🏼

Great decor. Service however was not good. Had to ask for tea. The pork fried rice was inedible. Waitress never asked how our food was. Only came to the table to get our order, bring us our food, and bring us our check. Completely unexceptable if you want a good top or a good review.

Terrible... I ordered egg foo young to go. Anticipating a great meal when I got home I was Extremely disappointed to find what looked like hockey pucks! Frozen product! Never in my life have I gone to a Chinese restaurant & not had foo young made fresh 😕 They were terrible. Do not recommend going here sorry to say...

I HATE giving bad reviews especially during this time. That said this is not the first bad meal we've had there. We thought we'd give it a couple more trys after the first bad meal to be fair. Everything was very disappointing, and over cooked. ( I've never had hard pork egg foo young before.) Egg roll was hard as a rock as were the crab puffs and sweet and sour pork. Teeth breaking hard. Again I don't like giving a bad review but money is tight and I'd hate for friends or family to spend their money and be as disappointed as we were. Hopefully things will improve but we won't be back.

Two dishes were maybe 3 stars. The Orange chicken was a flat 0. Tasted like tang with cornstarch to make it thick and sticky. Waitress had zero concern over the quality of the dish.

Remember back when Chen’s was SO GOOD? Maybe just don’t order crispy sesame chicken, because it is 100% not as menu describes, or sweet & sour chicken. UGH so disappointed. Please just take that chicken dish off the menu or update your descriptions to warn all the chicken is that gross battered stuff with no flavor.

Highly disappointed after reading such wonderful reviews. The whole dining experience is ruined by offering only take out. Seat people 6 feet apart, you have plenty of staff. Now the food: I had a hard time finding any chicken in my sweet and sour chicken. It was all batter. Why aren't the sauces mixed in? The fried rice had zero flavor. The beef chow main was really good.
