Food here was quite nice, drinks were far from pocket busting, i love the option of indoor and outdoor settings, not to mention its right near the lake which makes for a gorgeous lunch near sunset. The inside is also very spacious and filled with friendly staff. RECOMMEND TRYING!

My wife has had issues with beefeaters in other parts of the country so was reluctant to eat here; but eat here, we did. This beefeater, despite being very short staffed, was clean and tidy, although the loos could have been better. The staff were presentable, and courteous. The food was good and arrived in reasonable time. Unlike other chains, breakfast consists of a buffet including bread, pastries, cereals and fruit and a staff member will take your order for a full breakfast where you request how many you want of what, 2 eggs, 3 bacon, 2 sausage etc. There is a good sized beer garden, some of which is under cover. There is also lots of seating along the canal.

Could be so much nicer given its location. Unfortunately it's dirty and the service is terrible. Inside is dark and smells of chip fat, outside is covered in litter (the couple of photos I've attached don't show how disgusting it is). God knows what ends up the river given that it doesn't appear the outside area is ever cleaned. The fake plastic plants outside are ridiculous, seems as though whoever runs the Malta Inn is determined to destroy all of the natural environment unlucky to enough to get anywhere near the pub. I was there shortly after opening today and the entire outside area was covered in litter which was clearly from the night before. If you're after a cheap, dirty pub with kids running wild everywhere and that has a big outside space covered in ketchup packets and baby wipes then this is the place to go.

RE VISITED REVIEW[ WELL DONE to everyone involved, after a terrible time last outing i decided to come back and this time what a difference! The waitress was very nice and the food was lovely! The roast my wife and i had was top!! Again well done and we will come back after today! [OLD REVIEW- Awful! I had to get my own cutlery and sauce for a high price restaurant!! The kids burgers were a solid bun with no sauce or lettuce, the chips/fries were solid and cold! The picture below was of the coleslaw that was 'fresh' it was disgusting. The whole experience was awful, never again will I waste my family time and money in here!]

UPDATE 2023 04 Special discount day (40% off) so very busy, felt the portion sizes where getting smaller, asked for Mayonnaise but did it not arrive, so had to go to the grill bar and ask for some. Staff very friendly and engaging. UPDATE 2023 03 Service was very good and engaging, food from the daytime menu was far better than expected for the price. UPDATE 2022 11. Would have increased my star rating to 5 as the restaurant was lovely and warm, the food and service were very good, unfortunately the gent's toilets were a bit smelly. This was a afternoon visit. Well what can you say, this is a very busy place. The staff work extremely hard. We took advantage of the two meals for £12, which is a unbelievable price, unfortunately our chips were cold and dry, these were promptly changed by our waiter. Hopefully our next visit will be perfect and I will add a star or two. Great setting by the river Medway, make sure you log your car in.

Great with a Blue Light Discount. Steak was delicious - I am a pig and paid extra to have ribs too and it was totally worth it - HA! Lovely riverside walk too.

Took the latest lunch offer from Beefeater £ 11.95 for two courses. Steak sandwich with fries and coleslaw, followed by ice cream. Steak was inedible, just gristle. Fries were fine. Avoid the specials and eat from the main menu. You get what you pay for.

Decided to go to the beefeater with my family and friend as we haven’t been there in quite sometime. We were seated quickly after booking online, our drinks and food arrived quickly and the waiter had brilliant customer service. Overall the food and drinks were great and we had a good evening, we will be revisiting in the near future.

I am not surprised that they have gone down now with 3.6 stars. What a shame? It used to be my favourite place for steaks, burgers, and beer. Not any more! Absolute disaster! Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! Went there last Sunday, ordered the best burger they serve, and received a cold shoe sole. I have informed the waiter who, without sorry, just took the plate and said he is going to bring me the fresh one. Really? If that one was fresh, then I am King Charles III. Bet it was prepared the day before and now just heated up, as it was warm this time but still no juice at all, very dry, chewy, another sole, not edible. I am very disappointed with the quality of the food and customer services. You gonna get much better quality from the van by B&Q. I am not even going to mention kids' food. Nobody came to ask us if everything is OK, what they used to do before regularly. You have to queue up for ordering from the bar. Staff can't get through as you are standing in the queue, so unorganised place, just chaos and couldn't find happy customer, everyone annoyed. Why can't they have the online ordering? It is so simple, and it works in so many other restaurants (where they care about the customer). After queuing up, they told me I couldn't order from this menu for the offer I received by email, even if it states on email that only T-bone is excluded. So I have received a different menu, and I had to go back to the family to ask what they want from this menu and then queue up again. And then waiting for bloody long time to be served but nothing mentioned whilst ordering. Tables sticky, untidy. Whole area messy. Are they for real? Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! Who is running this restaurant? Some builders and painters or carpenters are cooking, and as waiters, you have road work contractors? The only last positive thing that remains is a nice location by the river. Shame on you, Beefeater team!!! Next time, I would rather have a pizza at Kent Life and save a lot of money, and keep myself calm as they serve much better food even for their animals than you serving to your customers. Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! As I mentioned above, you used to be my favourite place, which I recommend it to everyone, and I used to take all my visitors and friends to your place for fantastic food and hospitality. How did you manage to bring that place from the top to the bottom in a few years' time? And please do not use covid as excuses as there are so many other restaurants and they keep their quality no matter what! Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! I do understand that in current economic climate portions getting smaller and I won't see onion rings included in price for a burger and patty will be as thin so I can nearly see through to be able to keep prices down and compete. But come on, the quality of the food and customer services must stay on top of everything. Otherwise, you can close the business. Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!! Bye-bye, never ever, until I see your stars getting closer to 5 again. Shame on you, Beefeater Team!!!

Drinks only - Nice location but restaurant closed (lack of staff and too hot!) for bar food so big Q for food tables. Drinks were reasonable price but wait at the bar due to staffing again.

I’ve been going to this pub/restaurant for 40 years and it has grown a lot over the years, but the location is beautiful overlooking river Midway with narrow boats and cruisers. You just have to be aware of parking to register your car, so you don’t get fined.

I really like coming hear and we decided on our annual christmas gathering with friends. The Christmas menu was good for money and had a good choice. However i had the pate and so did my friend , the people that got the fondue got more bread so we had alot of pate left over . The main meal i had the salmon , the salmon was cooked well but the pastry was so dry , the sauce was delicious and the potoatoes. Pudding was disappointing me and my friend had the apple pie it was so sour and tart no sugar had been put on the apples when cooking. The service was ok not fantastic but she did what she needed to do. If not christmas the food is really good so i would come again.

Licence plate registration machine was not working. Staff said camera was off nothing to worry. 2 weeks later slapped with £100 parking ticket. When called they were not interested

Such a shame 😞 lovely table overlooking the river, lovely staff!! Nachos and garlic bread ticked all the right box's for a starter then it all came to a grinding halt with the worst main course's we've ever eaten in a beefeater we tried to persevere but there no amount of sauce that could save it, as I said such a shame, unfortunately we did send the food away and the staff were very professional and polite and we were offered deserts and when we asked for the bill they said we could leave with no charge, nice spot for a pint better venues for a slap up meal

The worst Sunday roast I have EVER had! I love a roast dinner, but it was awful, the roast potatoes were deep fat fried, to a point where there was barely any potatoes inside, the beef looked like steak and was cooked on a grill, not roasted, so tasted like barbecue meat! The cauliflower cheese was undercooked with a tasteless runny white sauce at the bottom, with no taste of cheese! The Yorkshire tasted of fat, the carrots were totally tasteless, the stuffing ball was a surprise, because it looked the same as the deep fried spuds! The parsnips were also deep fat fried to a crisp! It was all horrible. The only things that were ok were the peas and the gravy. Genuinely felt sick afterwards. I always have a desert when I eat out, but didn’t want to pay any more than I had already wasted!

Bit disappointed on my first visit. Ordered hallumi fries and chicken wings and Waiter came and said unfortunately hallumi no longer available we can order any other side dish ,my friend asked if all the side la are in same price and answer was yes . Which was very wrong as we ordered normal fries but they were £2 cheeper which we were actually wondering how come those things can possibly be the same price as we were told!? The chips were half cold and the wings well I did not like them at all but my friend did . We were very disappointed! We just left didn’t say anything but I think we should as the waiter had it really wrong! Next time we come hopefully this will be corrected and we can enjoy our meal on our return as must say it is perfect location the view is such a beautiful!

Update 12 June 23. Unfortunately it hasn't improved. A great server, prompt drinks and order taken but way too long for a meal for two to arrive when only one other pair of customers in the restaurant. Burger ordered way overcooked, on the point of burnt, meat dry also chips. Rib eye steak ordered, asked for medium, served very well done. Both meals returned, apologies offered and accepted, meals replaced, acceptable. Just wanted a quick bite but not to be. The manager was excellent. Sat in by the window, lovely view of the river.

A nice pub/restaurant in an almost unbeatable location alongside a beautiful river. A fantastic place to visit on a sunny day. The food was pretty decent and not too badly priced. The service was good and the staff were very polite but it can get busy and a couple of times there was quite a queue. I opted for quite a tasty burger with cheese and bacon, which was cooked perfectly and washed it down with a cold pint all whilst sitting by the riverside watching the boats and wildfowl pass by.

It was OK, is about the best way to describe the experience. It seems to be pretty understaffed, resulting in there being a queue, of all things, for the bar? Price of the drinks was about average for the time this review was posted, they're pretty pricey everywhere but no more so than most pubs. They did have a pretty great selection with some fantastic festive options! The food was pretty below average, if I'm being blunt. I've never sat in a restaurant for a Christmas dinner, only to receive what I can closest describe as what a school Christmas dinner would look like. Reformed turkey and a single pigs in blanket, with a sad looking stuffing 'disc' surrounded by a few vegetables kinda put a downer on it. Looking around at the other people in my party, they faired a little better than myself, but truthfully, not by much. The waitress was lovely, but seemingly having to serve a lot of tables herself. Thus, simply wanting another drink was a lengthy task. She did her level best though, and did manage to get back to us as often as she could. Was a very happy atmosphere inside though, if not incredibly warm! On reflection unless it improved the food drastically, I'm not likely to want to return, since it's pretty out of the way from everything, and certainly not worth travelling to just for the drinks.

Slow service even though it wasn't full. Waited ages after being seated to order food as no one was around, both beers I ordered weren't poured how they should be. When we finished we waited for around 30 minutes to get our bill as again no staff available. Not blaming serving staff just not enough of them to deal with the customers. Food was good.

Lovely visit on 18/3/22 for food & drink on a sunny afternoon. We originally sat outside by the river, however it was a bit more chilly then we thought. We headed inside to eat and our food was tasty. I had the Salmon, my husband the Steak & Ale Pie and my daughter enjoyed the stack burger. All cooked to perfection. Tried the spicy cola ( see pic )for the first time and this drink was so amazing! 😋🥃🥧🍔🍟

Food was good and arrived quickly. But I’m sitting here with my food on the table but a dry mouth because there’s a minimum 10 minute queue to the bar. Soft drinks may be free refill but good luck getting one because you’ll be waiting a while. I’m tempted to refresh my throat by drinking from the river.
