Well of Uthman bin Affan Radi Allahu Anhu (بئر عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) or Well of Roma (بئر روما) is a well in Madinah Al-Munawarah (المدينة المنورة) since 1400 years ago in the North West of Prophet’s Mosque (المسجد النبوي الشريف) in a small area of Al-Aqeeq, still irrigating the city’s inhabitant with it’s water and surrounding farm that consist of 100 meters and more than 1500 palm trees. It is famous after the migration of our Beloved Prophet Peace Be Upon Him (نبينا الحبيب صلى الله عليه وسلم) when people of the city found that all the other sources of water dried except Roma Well. To get the water people has to pay the owner who was a Jew named Romat Al-Ghiffari (روما الغفاري) from Ghaffari tribe; the payment was not possible for many residents those days. Our Last Prophet Peach Be Upon Him (خاتم الأنبياء صلى الله عليه وسلم) speech that whoever buy the Roma well will be granted paradise, incited Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) the third Caliph of the Prophet Peace Be Upon Him (الخليفة الثالث للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم) to buy and free of charge public endowment. He offered to buy the well, but owner refused and mentioned that he is dependent on the earning from the well. Then Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) offered to buy half of the well with an agreement that each one fetch on alternate day. The owner knows Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) as a successful businessman, agreed him as his business partner that could increase his sales. Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) paid a heavy price for the half well that is around Dirham 18,000 (silver coins) and opened it for the Sake of Allah allowing people to fetch according to their requirement. The people fetched two days supply on the turn of Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) and no one purchase on the Roma’s turn. Then Roma offered Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) to purchase the remaining half ownership in Dirham 20,000 (silver coins), so kind Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) he accepted the offer without any negotiation, even known that there is no worth of the remaining ownership. It is mentioned at some sources the total price of the well as Dirhams 38,000 (silver coins). The story of Well of Uthman bin Affan RA (عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) has no end, since the purchase till the current period it is charitable and kept for free use. The palms harvested in surroundings were used for charity purpose. A never ending story of a charity that is continue since 14 centuries.

Well the area is under construction.,just to keep the Uthman Ibn Affan's farn and well safe. Like 10 to 12 years before there was proper irrigation system for farm from well. But now with passage of time need things to be renewed. Especially the boundary wall and irrigation system and safety of the wall. You may not find proper entrance but only from construction side.

Entry to the farm & well is restricted. The place where fresh water well existed at the time of the Holy Prophet, owned by a Jew named Roomah. The Jew sold water to Muslims at a very high price. Hazrat Uthman (3rd Caliph) bought the well at a very high price & gifted it to all Muslims for free.

Roomah Well (the well of the truly guided Caliph Uthman Ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه)). An ancient well originally belonging to a man from the Ghifar tribe by the name of “Roomah”. The well held the freshest of waters during the prophetic age. Muslims were in dire need of the well, which, at the time, was owned by a Jewish man who sold its water. The Messenger of Allah motivated his companions to buy the water and donate it as charity for Muslims. Therefore, Uthman ibn Affan (رضي الله عنه) bought it and spent it for the cause of Allah. He then further dug the well and expanded it, and so it was renamed after him.

Beer othman (well othman Bin Affwan R.A). When there no water in except one well in madina. Rasool s.a.w have declared to purchase the well, will get kawsar in jannah so othman R.A have promised to purchase it. But d owner have refused to sell so othman R.A said so take money and give change to take water for one day and next will be his turn so the owner agreed as he his getting money without selling his property. During d turn of othman R.A muslims use to fill water for next day as well so that next they won't pay for d water. So in is way his business reduced and finally he sold d well to othman R.A. who donated d well to Muslim.

It's closed and not maintained. It's an important historical place and should not have been treated in the way it is.

👍 At the foot of Uhad mountain, this is one of the most resourceful public parks in Madinah. There is a big mosque in the middle. Plenty of kids playing areas, swings, and slides. It's pretty green, and the fountain in the middle makes it a perfect family place to walk and stay for a longer time. Many...
