The worst customer service you’ll ever get from the Manager and the guy standing at the door who checks ID, booking etc. If you speak about something you think about is not fair and not right as per the rules of the bar, their menu... those two guys will simply tell you that you won’t be taken in next time. Absolute disgrace behaviour. The bar, bartenders and most of the other staffs are great and well caring and behaving except that 3 feet tall bar manager and the brown guy who stands at the entrance.

They have $15 lunches for the uni students who want something cheap yet filling. We got the parma and burger and they were both quite nice. If you sit around the balcony area you can get a really nice view of the state library and people watch as they go about their day.

Was wandering around Melbourne Central and remembered Asian beer cafe on the to level. We came here just before 4pm happy hour and got a seat out on the balcony. The balcony was split between smokers and non smokers... There really wasn't much space between the two sections to be honest. There were several food and drink deals available on the app so we grabbed the two pizza and beer jug deal as well as the three entree deal... Both were good value. Would be happy to come here again.

This place is probably for drinks hence the food was quite average. It was very crowded at 7pm. The cheese burger spring rolls was good. The steak was huge and cheap. Value for money. Would not recommend coming here just to eat, but if you have friends to hang out with, sure.

Very rude service from bloke out the front, waited in line for 25 minutes only to be told reservations only and that there must be 2 people in a booking so I couldn't couldn't enter on my own. You guys have just lost a valuable customer.

This place is absolutely horrible. Went there with a few mates after jumping from a cafe, and they refused one of my mates entry without reason. The only reason we could come up with was my mates jolly attitude. Regardless, the manger is absolutely ridiculous with their stuck-up attitude. None of us were drunk, just excited after having a good dine in. It's absolutely ridiculous. If you decide to go in, then don't go smiling or laughing. Absolutely bullcrap.

they have a QR code for ordering, but they didn't get it. We waited for 10 minutes for drinks and then walked to ask at a bar staff asked back what we had ordered….

A good place to hang out on lazy evenings. If you are looking for not an expensive one, this is the place to be in. I was quite surprised. Right on the Melbourne Central Station, it’s quite approachable. Apart from the indoor experience, they have an outdoor seating too. Staff is courteous and helpful. Enjoy the tap beer, taquilla shots and hard drinks. If you love spicy food, do try Cajun Chicken wings. Chilly squid is also recommended

Watered down all of their spirits and drinks. I ordered a vodka with redbull and it came in a tiny Glass only half full with watered down redbull and watered down vodka. I thought it may had been an accident or a one time thing so throughout the night I ordered several other shots of neat alcohol and all were noticeably watered down as well. Tables were sticky and clearly not cleaned after use so if you're looking for a covid safe venue, I do not recommend.

Great service as always. New QR code ordering and paying was great with drinks arriving 30 seconds after your order was put through and food within 5 minutes from order time. Beer was cold, chilli squid was delicious and spicy

Sticky floors, and poor service at the bar, little supply and bar tender had no idea how to mix most basic cocktail when asked, even offered to teach, refused to serve what was ordered, just stated no stock when there was clearly plenty of liquor behind the cabinet in plain sight. Disappointing. Fries were partially cooked like they were dumped in cold oil waiting to heat up. Good venue and location outside balcony. Frozen margaritas were tasty and fair in liquor at least but tiny serve. Better to go to Lions, or B Lucky or any other bar upstairs next door if at Melbourne Central.

This place doesn't look like much but is quite affordable at happy hour... As long as you don't mind holding it in if you're a lady (the women's toilets would need a bit of a refresher). The patrons can add to the playlist, making the music eclectic, yet very interesting! Overall awesome experience - even visited the place twice during a 4-day Melbourne stay!

A couple of weeks ago, I, along with my friends, attended this cafe on Fri evening. To my astonishment, as I walked in the entry door, the security personnel asked ID, which is understandable. But I couldn't believe that without consent, the security guy took my photo and driving license together before the entry. Is this even allowed legally? How long they are going to keep our record in their system? How secure is it? I have no confidence considering I work in IT Security industry. Anyway, with this experience, I advise if anyone do not wish to take their ID and photo taken and recorded in their system, there are plenty of other options. Period. Don't regret.

Have visited ABC a couple of times and have enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks available. There is a nice outdoor balcony area and inside a dance floor. The venue is convenient and easy to get to via public transport, located on the top floors of Melbourne central. Have enjoyed the $45 bottomless cocktails offer with a great selection of cocktails and snacks to choose from. Overall had a great experience with bookings, staff and security.

A shadow of its former glory. New staff have poor customer service. I also notice a lack of diversity now. Seems to be mainly men work here now.

The outside area is extremely dirty. The tables are super sticky. On the right had side of the outdoor dining area there's a strong garbage smell coming. And please buy new cocktail glasses. Cause the glasses you'll are serving on right now is sick to look at. Decent place.

We had a booking for 9pm last night but everyone else in the world seemed to have the same booking and the line was 500m long to get in. I don’t understand how if you have a booking you have to wait that long to get in. And once everyone is in how is that covid safe? Absolutely disgusted by the rude employee at the front. We ended up leaving and couldn’t even get a refund. Appalling!

This venue is NOT SAFE for females. The bouncers displayed acts of violence, please refer to photos of bruises sustained whilst at ABC from bouncers on 25/02/2022. (Won’t allow me to post photos due to ‘violence’, however can email them.) Their behaviour was not warranted. My friend was in the bathroom (toilet), before staff decided to intrude whilst she was on her period trying to get sanitary items. Instead of assisting they tried to kick us out. However we weren’t allowed to go and collect our belongings. This in itself is an issue, the bouncer said I wasn’t allowed to go back into the venue to get my belongings without providing valid explanation as to why. THE BOUNCER COULD HAVE EASILY WALKED US TO COLLECT OUR BELONGINGS AND THEN ESCORTED US OUT. However this did not occur and when I tried to retrieve my belongings we were met with violence. Only reason I am rating the venue a 2 is because the drinks are a reasonable price for students.

As a precaution, if you’re considering doing bottomless at abc - don’t. Paid $45 for their bottomless package (unlimited drinks includes cocktails for 90 mins). During my time slot I only had two drinks because the lines to get drinks were very long. They were initially giving out jugs but then they only started giving out maximum two cups per person causing even more congestion. Overall service was just too slow and the event itself was very poorly managed.

Top tier, bar staff are the best people around really took care of us. Vibes great they even take music requests. Food is cheap and cheerful it’s actually done really well compared to meals that will be asking for double the price. Will be back :)

I recently had the pleasure of visiting ABC (Asian Beer Cafe) in the heart of Melbourne on a weekend day, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The lively and vibrant atmosphere gave off a true party mood, making it an ideal spot for those looking to have a great time. The food exceeded my expectations with a solid 4.5-star rating – the service was top-notch, and the menu offered a delightful variety of options. What truly sets ABC apart is its affordability; the prices are wallet-friendly, and the availability of happy hour specials only sweetens the deal. Overall, I had a wonderful time at ABC, and I can't wait to return. This place is a must-visit in Melbourne for a memorable time without breaking the bank. Overall Rating : 4.5⭐️

One of the best vibes in CBD. Just 2 stairs up from the Melbourne central station and the atmosphere is great. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays are great but the other weekdays are quite good as well. Wide variety of drinks, snacks and pizzas are available for grasp. The DJ starts to hit around 8pm, and goes with the same vibe until 1.00 am. Nice venue for a party with friends.

My go-to bar and restaurant. It is a semi casual place to bring your friends too. The drinks are fairly priced. The music is lit (R&B, pop, mix). They have a DJ from 7 pm in the weekends till 1am. They have a dance floor and guarantee that it's always fire🔥 They also have an outdoor area that is split between smoking and non-smoking zones. I find that comforting. It overlooks the traffic of Swanson Street and the beautiful architecture of the State Library.

Cheap drinks and a reasonable quality. Variety is not their strongest selling point but price is. Food is not bad either but prices are just the same as anywhere else. If you’re looking to drink more than eating, this is your place. Otherwise, I’d pick a place with more variety in their menu. Good quality overall.

Never been here before. My first impression was that it was cool, The prices are pretty cheap they have on tap cocktails and beer that you can buy in large containers at your table and get about 9 pints out of one. Music started out really good then it ended up not that great. Police turned looking for someone. It seems more suited for large groups of friends. I would come back as you don't have to get dressed up. There were people that swapped id at the door that looked completely different (skin color + looks) and they got in, after their id got checked and scanned, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.

The bar was beyond average, my boyfriend, and I came to have a couple of drinks during happy hour. After sitting down gum from underneath the table and chairs went all over his short. When telling a staff member about the incident, he was confrontational and unwilling to cooperate. Very disappointed with this bar and would definitely not recommend to any of my friends.

Today I was forced to order at my table but others weren't so it was slow and frustrating and they were served before me. The floor was sticky. Only thing I liked was the bar tender, very friendly.

Had the Pad Thai tonight which came with a hard shard plastic in it about 5mm thick and friends on my table agreed. The manager told me it was uncooked noodles and offered a complimentary drink. Would have preferred an honest answer and move on with it. Atmosphere was nice otherwise

I have been visiting this place from long time, there is nothing wrong with the place they have amazing offers and wonderful environment as always but the problem is it’s been totally packed by Indian staff who don’t know what they are doing. 1. The indian guy who was checking confirmations at the entrance doesn’t know what he is doing. 2. We along with some people standing in the line but there was a girl having a drink standing behind another girl not sure if it is alcohol but it looks like a cocktail. 3.Our Bottom less booking was from 9.30pm but when we entered they told kitchen is closed and the girl told last drink is by 10.45 but they gave later after an argument. 4.we noticed the security guy standing near the place where they keep cups and having a drink. Please don’t consider it as a compliant rather take it as a request because I like this place. All this happened on 31/11/2021 9.30-11.00pm

RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! We booked at 9 didn't get let in until 9:45, the man at the front was INCREDIBLY rude, we didn't even get seats at our table until 10:15 and then we're kicked out at 10:30... Won't be back EVER

  • 2/5 Adam S. 6 months ago on Google
Terrible service, staff never smile or greet customers, they even make eye contact and show absolutely zero facial expressions. The place reeks of smoke, due to the smokers on the balcony... The scent flows through the place. Order at table didn't work, regardless of the qr code on the table. Funnily enough as the name suggests, there were very only a few Asian tap beers, most of the Asian beers were bottled. Each time I have been here it has been disappointing, to the point I expect zero service. A busy Thursday night and only 2 servers on the bar, the line was 8 deep all night. People I was with opted to drink one elsewhere. These guys clearly make enough and don't care. Only thing going for them is cheap drinks.

Had a really nice happy hour at ABC. Nice and quiet on a Tuesday and safe to say we have more than a few drinks. 15$ for a jug of Tiger beer, very good.

  • 4/5 Nicole S. 7 months ago on Google
It is a good place to meet friends, but the only problem is that it is impossible to eat and drink beer at the same table if you are a person who smokes. And the bathroom is not good because most of the time only one or two are clean and one door is defective.

Absolutely great security was very helpful they are a backbone to this business I found the gentleman on the front to be very professional I just wish I could remember his name. Every staff member was polite and made us feel welcome. I cannot speak more highly of this venue. Thank you for a wonderful night.

They have drinks and basic fried/ reheated food. Bar staff not very attentive - even though it was early (6:30) and no queue we had to attract a staff members attention that was more focussed on their phone. Food is dropped on tables with no offer of cutlery or share plates. Then, you need to chase and attract attention again if you want these things. If you expect this experience you will be very happy.

I'm here for the bar crawl and asked about the 2pizza n jug deal he said its for students. Then suggested to use the QR code at the tables. So we did but it wasn't working. So went back up the bar and then another bar man said kitchen is closed... Would have been nice if the first barman said that before 🙄

A nice bar, decently sized and friendly staff however I was extremely disappointed with the cocktails! the port star martini was on tap and tasted nothing like one - and for $19, not worth it. If you’re just after a nice bar that’s big for a beer I’d recommended but wouldn’t try any other drinks!

Always a great experience visiting Asian beer cafe, its loud and busy, great for a fun night out. Cheap drinks, decent snacks, and the indoor space turns to a dance floor in case you feel like dancing, what else can you ask for.... Loved the ability to order from the table otherwise it had always been a pain queuing up.

happy hour time table has changed from when I last visited before pandemic. good cheap bar in the heart of Melbourne. It has designated smoking area in balcony. middle section of the bar gets cleared once it hits around 10pm(unsure) and staff play awesome music for people to dance. place is convenient as it's in the top of Melbourne central bldg. it is student friendly and a nice meet up place 😜 toilets are neat and tidy. when I witnessed other people get drunk, service of the staff are top notch as they cared for the customers and even gave free water for that guy to freshen up.

I was about to visit this place on Saturday night only for food & to see how it look like on the inside, but once I saw the unfriendly looking security guy at the front who made himself look so important, it shows me that I might not like this place, I will end up disappointed with the food/service, I guess it was never meant to be. I didn't like the vibe or the energy of this place. You can see how the ambience looked like from the front. An asian venue that didn't sell many options of Asian's meal on the menu. If you're one of those people who has not enough money/possibly poor but willing to look cool, you can go ahead to this venue 😂

Had a booking, we had to wait in like for 15 minutes anyway but were told by staff we could stay 15 minutes later than everyone else. At 10.30 on the dot the music turns off and the security start almost pushing people out the door. They were horrible and rude and we told them we had just ordered food (because there was no cut off to when we could order and we thought we could stay longer) but they were forcing us to leave. We asked the ABC staff about it too and the guy said yes we could stay an extra few minutes and get our food and eat. The security kept trying to force us out and eventually the ABC staff me never informed us we’d need to get takeaway boxes and leave. This wasn’t a big issue as they were very apologetic. The security needs to be reviewed here and the communication could be better. Besides from this negative experience the food and drinks were great and the majority of the night was fun.

Very rude staff and very slow service (took over an hour and several reminders to get our drinks). Very sticky floors and there was almost no alcohol in the drinks we'd ordered. They weren't even in the right colour. 3 cocktails and one shot later we were as sober as when we'd started. Terrible experience and considering the staff's behavior alone, I wouldn't visit again.
