Visited this establishment a couple of years back and were very impressed with the entire service. Unfortunately revisited this afternoon with a group of 12 & we wont be returning. We were the only group in the entire rooftop apart from one other table of two so obviously things aren’t going as they once used too. A simple request to put the races on one of the three tv’s that all were showing the same thing wasn’t even accommodated for and instead was met with the response of ‘that isn’t the crowd we are catering for here,’ so we decided to take our group elsewhere & wont be returning. Nice food but very disappointing service. Manager on duty was less than happy to accomodate our request. Disappointed

Kind ethical and deeply decent people. Thank you for the below comment. There’s a way for businesses to handle customers, and the feedback they give them. The way your business handled it was exemplary. I’m going to come and try the corn ribs, I wasn’t quite hungry enough for that last time.

The Chicken Burger is one of the best I've had. Tender, crispy, flavoursome chicken fillet with fresh slaw and the perfect amount of burger sauce. The thick, juicy pickles were the 'cherry on top'! The beer-battered fat chips were more than a mere accompaniment – they were a highlight: crispy, thick, rustic, delicious. My friend ordered the Fried Chicken Salad, but it wasn't presented as pictured in the Mr Yum menu, and was drenched in dressing. However, the staff were very kind and resolved the matter satisfactorily. The rooftop bartender/waiter was very kind l, and the manager was upbeat and welcoming. The rooftop bar is open and airy, yet not too weather-prone – a lovely atmosphere. I live across the road, so am glad to have found a reliable local staple!

What an improvement to the previous premises. The Parma was perfect. Thick juicy hand crumbed chicken with the perfectly seasoned sauce, ham covering the entire Parma with just the right amount of cheese. The food and drink was served in a timely manner, even though every pub in town is crowded for the Matilda world cup. Staff were friendly, everything wonderfully good. After avoiding this previous place, you have now won me over with the outstanding change you have brought to this pub.

It's great again. There have been changes to the menu and personnel. The Tuesday lunch steak special is now $17, and Wednesday lunch parma is now $15. Service is much improved, thus a happy change in my rating.

Had booked to see the Basement comedy shows hosted here on Fridays and Saturdays. Decided to stop in early for dinner. A decent range of gluten free options and some pretty hearty standard pub meals. The service was fast and very friendly. The comedy show was brilliant also!

We live in the city very close to Morris House, and have been keenly watching the renovations go on over time. We finally booked for dinner. The decor and ambience in the restaurant was lovely. However, the dress of the staff seemed extremely casual and untidy. Our waitress, Beatrice, seemed very disinterested and uninformed in regard to the menu, and in particular regards to the desserts, her words were, “if the client doesn’t tell me they like it, i don’t care”. On two ocassions she tried to remove plates that we were still eating from with out asking if we had finished. Continuously, we had to attract her attention to order more drinks and food. Towards the end of the evening, one of the (we assume) managers, named Robbie, came to our table and was absolutely fabulous. Caring, full of personality and care. We don’t recommend the Banana Split, very strange texture and undesirable. All other food was very very good. In these hard times, it is all about quality of service. We feel that bad service equals no return.

We visited Morris house on a Tuesday night for a rooftop drink but unfortunately they were out of the iced vovo cocktail that I wanted and the pavlova daiquiri that I ordered as the consolation prize was not particularly reminiscent of a pavlova to me. We were lucky to get a table as they were all reserved but by fortunate timing someone was vacating shortly after we arrived. We enjoyed the prawn rolls as a snack and would have enjoyed more of the menu which sounded tasty but we had dinner plans For more photos please see my Instagram @foodiefilesmelbourne

Just had a drink while waiting for comedy club downstairs to open but will definitely come here for a meal, a very warm inviting place and Aiden, barman fantastic service. Ordered Domain Chandon sparkling, he poured glass, said he thought it looked a bit flat and opened fresh bottle, guess what not every place does this.

Not a bad place. Thought the dishes weren’t bad, they somehow lacked some flavour, especially the sashimi, tasted just like raw fish with some lemon squeezed on top. Will say, the Parma was decent. The service was okay, attentive staff. The venue is also really nicely presented. Cool fancy-ish pub vibe. Good location.

Oh, how I love the atmosphere in this place, so stylish, modern pub meets NYC vibes! Great multi-level restaurant and open-aired roof top experience. Food was amazing and so tantalising! We enjoyed the prawn rolls, king fish, spinner crab spaghetti & pork cutlet 🫶🏽 OMG the flavours and freshness or the food! The spanner crab spaghetti was my favourite and I'll be back just for that! The service was spot on, the waiters and waitresses were so lovely, and they did enjoy our humour while conversing with them 🙏 they attended to us many times to make sure everything was spot on, but not over the top and not interrupting. The place was completely Vibing and full, especially when we were there for a Christmas meal. Will be back for many more parties to come.! Absolutely love this place and a great space for any foodie!

They cancelled on our booking for a birthday event, two days before the event in December leaving us with limited option to reorganise. This is despite us booking weeks in advance. Probably wouldn’t suggest booking here for a big event. ** Morris House has since offered us a voucher to experience the space again. We went on a week night and the atmosphere was really nice and cosy. We also enjoyed the food we got which was the spanner crab spaghetti and pork mains.

Went here for drinks on Saturday night and while the atmosphere was nice, I ordered a Sloe Gin Sour and was told it’ll take about 10minutes. I thought that was a while to wait for a simple cocktail but didn’t question it much. Turns out I ended up getting food poisoning due to the egg whites used to make the foam. I didn’t see it being prepared but if it was from an old or unpasteurized egg it’s a serious risk for food safety and wouldn’t want anyone else getting sick.

I’m currently travelling and came into Morris House as my first pub in Australia. All I can say is… WOW! Staff was so friendly, made me feel right at home. Management was top notch. Enjoyed a few signature cocktails and was guided through the menu for staffs top picks. Will be back! Definitely recommended 10/10.

First time eating. Booked the bistro thinking it would be quiet, but on Saturday night! Staff were great, suggesting we go upstairs to level 1 - much more family-friendly. Food was great. Huge portion sizes. Great online ordering option of removing certain things, like chips, salad etc, so the meal isn't too big. Smart thinking. Ok prices, good range of drinks.

My favourite was the beautiful, rare medium meat strips i ordered. They were done exactly the way I asked. I did not like the green sauce, it felt just like green oil yikes. The salad was very vinegary on one spot and completely tastless on another. I suggest you mix your salad when you get it prior eating. Chips were interesting, not bad, but very oily too. I would definitely go back for the meat. I was not fond of the high chairs as i did not find them comfortable but would choose the couches next time. Fingers crossed they are not all occupied again. I also think the bathrooms did not match the place. They would need to be renoed. Some of us at the same table had to wait only half an hour. Others completely starved to death as their meal took more than an hour to come out. I feel that's a big no no for a lunch meal. Then we were late for our next meeting.

Morris House is a sprawling venue spread across three floors, each with its own vibe. We spent our evening on the rooftop for a couple of after work drinks and nibbles. The crowd can be rather noisy but there is a great selection of deep house on rotation. The chips are crunchy and nicely seasoned, and the arranchini balls are decent, but the kingfish ceviche needed a saltier dressing.

Great venue with good food, a great range of drinks and fast and friendly service. Easy online ordering with the great option of reducing portion amounts, like no chips, or no salad, etc. Great to avoid wastage of over-ordering. Gets really busy and loud on weekends. We went to level 1 - more family friendly.

Lively place to stop at after footy. Went to the rooftop bar, had the heaters on inside for those who feel the cold. Had the Parma and fish and chips, very tasty! The Comedy Festival was on, so place was buzzing. Plenty of staff, will definitely be back.

The beer selection could be significantly improved. If you're claiming to serve European beers, you can't be serving Heineken on tap and mediocre German old school brands. The European craft beer market has evolved!! You can do better :)

Well, this is my salmon and avocado salad. Don’t need to say much else. Bonus points for the steak knife that saved me from a horror lunch trying to cut leaves with a normal knife. $29.

The second time I have visited. Second time I enjoyed. I simply had some time to kill and sat at the end of the bar. Such a nice, warm, upmarket pub and I felt totally safe & comfy. The food was that solid level above your average pub food. Wow and they offered extra bread when we run out - funny small things make you happy and forget the bill. Having a nice look around I figured it was very popular, so if you want a nice dinner table, I would suggest you book.

The place is very nice, I liked that each floor is as if it were a different place, the decoration is beautiful. Excellent service, from the person who greeted us at the door to the bartender in the bar. The atmosphere is very noisy, it is difficult to talk. The food, at least what we tried, was very delicious! And with beautiful presentation. Just one suggestion, for mezcal if you can serve it with pieces of lemon or orange, is how it is usually taken . I recommend visiting this place, whether for drinks or dinner.

Excellent customer service, the frozen iced vovo is my new favourite drink. Steaks were beautifully cooked and there’s a great atmosphere here, so much to do as there is heaps of levels- rooftop bar, comedy club and dining.

We had a great Team lunch here today. Easy online booking, set up a tab on the phone so ordering food and drinks was easy. Pub classics done well and generous portions. Good vegetarian options. My steak was perfectly cooked. A variety of beers too. I think one of the best pub options in the CBD.

Great food, drink options and staff. Had such a lovely experience on the rooftop bar with friends. It was a create space to get together and share a drink. I didn't get the bartenders name (Sunday night, rooftop bar, asian looking fella), but he was so friendly and courteous. A massive shout out to the staff and the food was so amazing too. Will always go here when in the area.

Did well wrangling hundreds of comedy festival patrons on a busy Thursday night. Food was simple but good. Only downside was being seated directly behind a huge pillar in the second row. Right at the front but could only see white tiles. Weird.

The food was very good. Pricing is average for a meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. We sat in rooftop and even though it was raining outside we were dry and toasty.

Tried the fried chicken tenders that came with bits of carrot and jalapenos. Was quite dry, would recommend a saucy dish with this as on it's own is quite drying and a bit bland. Would recommend getting another dish instead.

Went pre theatre. Was awesome. Food came out on time, it was delicious and staff were awesome. We were with a child (10yrs) and she loved it. Rooftop atmosphere was so good, and wasn’t cold as heaters were on. Going back for sure. Thanks for a nice evening!

Went to The European Bier Cafe with work friends. I honestly can not speak highly enough of the staff on Friday night, they easily looked after our group of 20 for meals and drinks/cocktails. Their positive attitude was due to the fact that they respect their owners so much. Would definitely go back for the great food and excellent service.

Absolutely sensational food. You could almost eat the steak with a spoon it was so tender and the chips were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. My wife raved about her Mocha cocktail. Will absolutely be back!

The roof top bar is a good spot for some after work drinks however the venue got quite crowded so made trips to the bar difficult. Also by around 6pm it was very loud and hard to hear. Venue staff were really lovely.

Ordered the Monday night Parma special. Decent serving, more than I could eat. The chicken was quite thick and not too dry which was great. Fries weren’t bad, had a little seasoning on some pieces.

Popped in for a quick beer on the way home. Bar staff were really friendly and to get a proper Erdinger in an Erdinger glass was great. Will be heading back for grub as from what I could see on the other tables it looked good.

Had dinner at Morris House for the first time recently and unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Below average pub food. I ordered the spanner crab spaghetti, it came out drowning in sauce, awful presentation, over cooked spaghetti which felt like eating mash. My sister ordered a chicken salad and left the whole dish. Chicken was over cooked and hard to cut and chew. Staff were very friendly, atmosphere on levels 1 & 2 were ok. Level 3 rooftop has the best vibe. The venue is lovely however the food was the biggest let down.

  • 1/5 Smaya S. 7 months ago on Google
We went for dinner at the place… beautiful till we saw a rat walking around our legs, so no nice feeling between we having dinner and we had to stop it and we couldnt finish.. the management is shocking - they just offered $60 refund when there was 3 of us spending $100 each that we didnt even enjoy or finish.

Looks great after the recent renovations. It was bustling when I visited on a Thursday night but managed to grab a spot on the rooftop. Negronis were a bit sweet for my liking (they taste prebatched) but decently strong and a pretty good price at $16 on sale.

A real gem in the hear of CBD .I believe has gone through renovation as exterior seems different now than when I walked CBD during covid .I loved the vintage original carpets and the balcony is simply expectacluar .A real retreat from the hustle and bustle if you live , work or just pass through the CBD

After much hype about the relaunch this was a disappointment. The outside certainly looks great. Inside it looked pretty much the same as before. Top deck bar looks refreshed but it was very noisy so we did not stay long. Second level has air con set to arctic. We did not try the food but spying on other tables it looked yum.

Morris House Roof Top was a great bar to visit. Didn't have anything to eat, but the drinks were nice and cold and the roof top was awesome, sitting in the sun overlooking the street below. I will definitely visit again. Well worth checking out.

Reasonably priced drinks and food on the most recent visit there under covid19 dining restrictions. I'll remember the place fondly while in lockdown... Take 2. Which technically isn't a lockdown because people are still allowed to move around for some things. That's what you get from a bloke who wanted to be a politician and is now directing the medical and science decisions to combat this pandemic. Give us all a Speed Camera Dan... They save lives so you keep telling us! Seriously... if restaurants and bars ever open for dining in again... go here.

So I went back to the European Bier Cafe for another beer and this place still hits the mark. The service is efficient, the beer selection great and the prices reasonable. I hope this review is not deleted. This place in the city is definitely worth a visit. September 2018 I haven’t been here for a while so I decided to call into this place and have a beer, given that it’s beer o’clock haha. This place has a really good range of European beers not surprisingly, such as Belgian, German, Italian and Chez. Happy days. Between 5-9pm weekdays there is Happy Hour which means $10 pints which is good considering the beers are imported. It’s a comfortable space downstairs, but I was hoping to see their rooftop bar but there’s a function on today so that’ll have to wait till next time. All that’s missing is Eurovision on the tele lol

Booked the basement for a 21st and we were provided with awesome service. The head bar attendant and room manager was great. She enabled our night to be an awesome celebration with friends and family of my daughter’s 21st birthday. One negative was that management had failed to pass booking and information onto staff .. the manager and especially head bar attendant and Waiter managed to rectify and organise what was needed. Forgotten her name ... but she was amazing and the rest of the staff were great also. Top venue, great atmosphere and facilities.

Surely a place I would go back with a group of friends.

Venue is ok, seems they need a bit of updating, or even try to get rid of the "will I get stabbed" vibe. Once seated though, the food was great. Chicken Parma up to scratch, Barramundi cooked perfectly. Fried chicken and arancini balls were delicious. Will be back!

This is the first time I've been here, and decided to eat here inbetween theatre performances at the Princess Theatre. I have to say I was really impressed with how this venue operates! You order & pay at the table with a QR code which made thongs very easy and we didn't feel rushed at all. The service was quick & very friendly! Beautiful cozy place with very nice atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and food was very tasty -we had the beef pie and the chicken burger-. Only giving it four stars as for some reason despite COVID physical distancing recommendations we were seated at the back of the restaurant near four other occupied tables which felt quite cramped and uncomfortable (one of them a party of approx 7). It is a fairly big venue and there was plenty of space as we had an early reservation -5pm on a Sunday evening. They wouldn't let us move as the other tables were reserved despite no one else being seated for the whole time we were there.
