Tried this place and my experience was not that great. The food quality is not good & taste is below average. Not sure why this place is famous when there are many restaurants that serve great Indian food with quality, quantity & price.

Can’t go wrong with any of the dosas here. The paper dosa, egg paneer dosa and chicken schezwan dosa are all great but the egg is my favourite. It’s got a decent level of spice, great flavour and a balanced consistency of crispy edges and a chewy, spongy interior. It’s also pretty decently sized for the price.

Dosa Hut eCBD King St.. is definitely a disappointment! after reading all the good reviews and then reading a sign inside the store saying “Leave a review and get a free Mango Lassi”. Not worth the free drink.. Chicken 65 Biryani was a little bland and very little amount of chicken. Masala Dosa was really nice but they had no Butter Chicken available for dinner. The worst was the cutlery’s, the food was eatable but using paper plates and wooden cheap fork and spoons for a Restaurant in the city is pretty cheap.. Furniture was pretty outdated and the Toilet areas is a no go, pretty dirty and run down. Wouldn’t be returning.

Trust the reviews. As I was waiting to be seated, two dishes were sent back for too cold. And my chicken dosa. It was so bad. Full of grease and mince that doesn't taste like chicken. Such a turn off

I recently went on the New year’s and was shocked with the service. It used to amazing. Now they have changed drastically. The staff are not cooperative at all. They treated us with a lot of disrespect. Despite the food still being like they used to make it, the service quality has dropped significantly. Wouldn’t go again. Wouldn’t recommend going here either.

It's an Indian restaurant where we ate one of our meals with my family. One interesting thing is that, they have an item called. " three items" which they are providing free roti means bread but condition is no sharing.

Food taste is Better. Color are added so much, Hurts stomach some times. Dosa , Fried Rice , Briyani are Good Options to Try . Tables are small and not convenient to sit and eat

This is not a complaint regarding the food, but utterly disappointed for customer service by the staff. I am a regular customer of Dosa Hut, King Street and have never experienced such kind of behaviour. Me and my friends were having dinner at this place and we raised our concern with the order to the staff member who was serving us the food. He forgot the first time, and when we called him and told again, he started arguing and told us meet him after the restaurant closes that too in an impolite and threatening way. It was highly inappropriate and we were surprised to hear this. Absolutly no customer etiquettes. After that, when we went to pay the bill and spoke to him about it, he said he don't have time for it. This annoyed us more, so we asked for the store manager's number as he was not present at that time. Neither he provided store manager's number nor any email to report this rude behaviour and also started mocking us in front of other customers. After we being persistent in order to talk to someone, instead of the store manager, they gave us some number which seemed to his friend's number who claimed to be the store manager (didn't seem like he was the real store manager). When asked him to give us the store email id and his name on the bill this guy crumbled the bill and threw it in front of us while the rest of the customers were watching. This was very disgusting, shameful and very disrespectful. He is a tall skinny guy who refused to tell his real name but claimed it to be "Shay". This incident occurred at around 8:00-8:10 pm on Thursday 05/08/2021. If the store has a CCTV, I'd request the store manager to please look into the footage to look into this matter. I don't wish this to have an impact on someone's job as I understand it could be difficult, but you should have some respect for your customer. I don't want anyone else to have such an experience, hence writing this big review and not to waste my time. Even though the food was fine, I don't think I'll be visiting this place again. Along with all this, bill was charged wrong thrice!!! Every time we had to let them know the issues they were making while billing...

It was my worst experience in a restaurant of all! I went with my friend to have a dinner there and basically they gave the food in this horrible takeaway boxes. It was just insane. We asked why and they said that the owner preferes like that for covid reasons. Really? Don’t they have a dishwasher?! Furthermore, they gave the wrong order, they didn’t provide the order as requested and we didn’t even know if the food was prepared at the time or just warmed up on microwave. We asked for a refund and they gave the wrong refund, and the manager was useless and they also agreed that the food shouldn’t be served in takeaway but they do that anyway! Really?! If you go to Coles and buy the microwave dish, your experience will be better. I don’t recommend this place even for my worst enemy.

Nice place to get affordable and tasty dosa. Tried several different dosa here now, including a 70mm podi dosa. Surprisingly filling given how crispy they are! The flavours here are strong and punchy, which i usually love, but there are a couple of misses here. For example, way too much podi. Also, the sambar could be more balanced. But the chutney is great, and so is the potato in the masala dosa. Overall, the prices and the food are good.

When I think of Indian food in Melbourne, I usually think of Dosa Hut, with so many stores around Melbourne they’re bound to satisfy your Indian food cravings! We tried the: ▪️Cheese Masala Dosa - $16.5 ▪️Crispy Goat - $18.95 ▪️Butter Chicken $18.95 ▪️MLA Keema Pulao (with omelette) - $14.95 ▪️Biryani $17.95 ▪️Garlic Rotis - $3.50 ▪️Samosa Chaat - $14.95 ▪️Choc Lava Cake $7.95 ▪️Red Velvet Slice $7.95 ▪️Mango Lassi $3.95 Absolutely loved our meal here, the food was so hearty and flavourful. The dosa was so crispy, the samosa had a nice balance of flavours with sweet, salty and spicy. The paneer biryani also had great flavours and this was probably our favourite dish. The crispy goat was a little too salty and the roti was a bit oily but otherwise everything was your standard Indian dishes ☺️ The cakes were really moist, and quite dense, especially the red velvet slice which we loved and ended the night on a good note. The staff were really friendly and patient and the food came really fast!

Australia largest chain of Indian restaurants serving food in plastic takeout containers is next level. Don't understand how does it comes to that, price of food has gone up and quality is declined more progressively. Next time probably you need to bring your own chair too.

Beware! While ordering online. They like to skip items in order. Missed vada once, Gave another chance and found chilli paneer missing. Well second time's on me for ordering and trusting again. When called to ask if they missed it by mistake called me liar on phone 😅 May be you'd get all items if you dine. Try at your own risk.

This restaurant has some very good food and we got to try Dosa for the very first time at the recommendation of the nice Waiter and loved it! Service is excellent and out of the number of restaurants along this street....this is one of the busier ones and that's always a good sign when you are looking for somewhere to eat. There's plenty of sitting and there's also an upstairs section. I would highly recommend.

The food is okay. I used to order a lot of uber eats from here. Hence, decided to visit the place. What took me as a shock, yes shock! Was the service of this place. Literally everything is self serve, which is still understandable but they expect you to even get the drinks from the fridge yourself (which they don't tell you at first that you have to). What really sucks is they serve food in takeaway containers and on top of that the cutlery is disposable (cheap plastic). If you want please take away. Never ever dine in here. PS- the staff is so rude it's almost funny.

Worst Dosa Hut by far. Zero customer service and the experience was immediately off putting with music blasting to the point of not being able to hear my friend next to me. Thankfully it was turned down after requesting, but the food was the worst Indian I've ever had. The Gobi Manchurian was a pass at best. The Butter Chicken was sooo watery to the point of being physically inedible - we couldn't eat it with the tiny wooden spoons provided. On that note, v environmentally unfriendly with all cutlery, plates and cups being disposable. No naan on the menu which was v disappointing and the garlic roti wasn't even garlicky. Everyone knows a good garlic roti/naan leaves your fingers smelling for days (in the best way possible).

Had ordered spicy chicken65 biryani but it turned out to be very dry and bland biryani which was tasteless , hardly 2-3 pieces of chicken that were chopped in very small size (equivalent to 1small chicken piece chopped into 3), served with cold and harden boiled slice of egg ,and absolutely not worth the price you pay. It just tasted like it wasn’t freshly cooked biryani .Staff service was really very poor, not attentive to customer’s order and requirement. Would request the owner that please don’t do this with your guests/ customers because we pay for the food and it’s not worth to pay when the food served is not fresh and is tasteless. Would definitely not recommend this place for authentic biryani!

Delicious chicken dosa ($17.95) from Uber Eats made my day! The coconut and tamarind chutneys with the sambhar was really good. I was quite satisfied with the Mysore Masala Dosa ($15.95) that I ordered from DoorDash. The dry powder on the dosa was a bit unexpected, but not bad. The accompanying chutneys and sambhar were very good. This is a good place for dosa lovers! Charminar Special Dosa (Ceg & Non-Veg, $21.95)

Came here for a quick meal, the taste was not bad, and food came out quickly, they had donuts and samosas ready at the hot food display, I couldn't see the pricing for the entrees The prawn fried rice had carrots, green beans, and eggs included in the basmati rice. The taste was pretty good.

Good food, it’s always above average. I like the variety they offer too other than just dosa. I love their gobi biryani. Staff is also good. Not so good with the dining experience though, over the years they have downgraded on their dine in experience, they serve in take away containers or disposable plates.

Jesus.. never thought its gonna be such a disastrous and disappointing experience. Staff mostly unexperienced school/college kids with no manners working, just behave miserable. Don’t think they are mature or even close to handle customers. No regulation and rules for seating arrangements. We had been waiting politely for 5 mins and suddenly group of 5 came and grabbed the seat from nowhere(they had no prior booking). Next the seat we were provided was unhygienic and dirty as if I was sitting in a slum. We waited for so long and no sign of food .. I dont know what came to my mind that I choose this place. Staff is so indiscipline and mannerless , extremely rude and unprofessional. I will send my review to Department of health reporting the nuisance which is carried out here. Thanks.

Ordered Chilli chicken gravy and they gave me chicken Manchurian gravy; told the girl I didn’t ordered but she said we did, and it is not her fault. She took it away and took ages to bring my food. I almost finished watching a movie. When the chicken finally came, they forgot the rice. Reminded them and she said did we order. Had to show her the receipt and she kept looking at the table. The rice came after 20 mins. Food taste fine but the service is very bad.

Do not go here. As we entered, there was no reception or anything. We wanted to sit at the booths which had more comfortable seats but the server tried to convince us to sit at the tiny tables with hard chairs!!! Even thought the restaurant was mostly empty!!! Then after we ordered, we waited so long that my brother even had time to take a nap. There was even a delivery person who was waiting for ages at the door. Finally our food arrived (pondicherry dosa 17.95) and not only was it so expensive compared to other places, it was so hard to eat. It was the thinnest dosa my mum had ever seen in her 50 years of life. And every time she tried to tear a piece, everything crumbled into powder. The red chutney had such a strong and strange taste. We ordered rasmalai ($6.95) which was not rasmalai, but the baby of rasmalai, even smaller than bite sized. And it tasted like someone was trying to make world's smallest rasgulla. For $25, a very unsatisfying meal. And trust me, they didn't even have idli options!!!! Except for maybe 2 dishes but I'm not too sure. Definitely go to Carrum Downs instead.

Had a great time eating my takeaway. Had the special dosa and the biryani. I thought that the spices in the biryani rice was too overpowering for my liking. The meat was very tender and delicious tho! And because my dosa came with all the different sauces we had a fun time mixing and matching diff combo. The dosa was wonderful - just a bit too salty and a lot salty in concentrated areas. But like I mentioned having it with the different sauce made it a really fun experience. The crispy parts of the dosa adds a twist to the texture but as with all takeaway and delivery means that there were a lot more soggy parts than crispy parts! Staff was also nice and was singing to tunes while working. Such lovely vibe. Chamak chalo oh oh oh !!

Worst experience with dosa hut this time, order veg manchurian from dosa hut and got chicken peice with gobi inside it was very awful experience for such restaurant and it means the restaurant is not taking proper care and not even washing the utensils while making veg dish. I strictly do not recommend this restaurant for pure vegitarian people, there are just fooling us in the name of veg dish, they are not even looking at the what they are making and what not. Terrible Experience from Dosa Hut. You should respect other people's choices too of being vegitarian. And it is clearly visible in the picture, I added below that the peice in the spoon is a peice of chiken not gobhi ( cabbage).

This is the worst.... I am feeling now, google should introduce zero star or negative rating. Catering and service is worst.... no one is coming to take order. Food is quality and taste not good. Even some of the items, felt its rotten kind of smell. Earlier it was good. I am on the same impression. I advise anyone, better to look another restaurant for your lunch. feel sad to give this rating.

Everything came served on disposable plates and takeaway boxes even though we were dining in but don't be fooled by the plain interior. This is one of the best meals I've had in awhile. The dosa was tangy, flavourful and really crisp. It came with some zingy chutneys for toppings. The butter chicken was also so creamy and tender and the accompanying garlic roti was soft and slightly chewy. The gulab jamun (dessert) was also fantastic. It is a bit of an acquired taste as it's very sweet but it was tender and just comforting. The servers were so lovely and happy to explain what dishes were. I will definitely be back again.

Let's talk about the good stuff, the chicken Chow mein was tasty. The girls there did their best in helping to recommend our next dish and I settled for the Hyderabad Dum Briyani (Chicken) but I think the girls working there are new as one of them got a male server to complete my order instead. I specifically told him that I wanted the authentic taste and not the one made for 'local' taste. The Briyani that I received was dry and tasteless, when I told the gentleman that it has little to no taste he said that's how it is without a care to listen let alone improve. After the meal we really felt like some chai but most peculiarly, were told that the chai was sold out. So the missus went next door to buy two little cuttings from Delhi Rocks but was not allowed back in because we didn't order the very thing that they ran out of. We were going to order panee puri with the chai but this place is so insecure it not only lost our future business but also our respect. The table next to us was equally shocked at this behaviour. If you in this area just go to Delhi Rocks right next door, the chai is free flow if you dine there and the food is authentic.
