Food and atmosphere is great especially when the sun’s out. It’s our special place to go to but a shame today the food wait has been over an hour. The kitchen is working frantically I’m sure, but perhaps they took on more order than they should and keeping patrons waiting for over an hour for food is not good for any restaurant no matter how busy it is. Food ordered at 2.23pm and has not arrived at 3.30pm at time of writing this. Perhaps let your patrons know there will be a long wait at the time of order.

Visited with a group of friends and it was a sunny day. The atmosphere is good specially in a sunny day but personally we didnt enjoy the food. It felt like it is just missing something and definitely felt like it is done in a budget. Price you pay is for the view and the food quality can get a lot of improvements. Got a smashed avo which came with tiny pieces of toast and only one egg and a cheese that lacked any taste what so ever( very uninspiring). We also got a Benedict which looked good but was on a very small size and supposedly had pulled meat ( hard to find in plate). Over all we went and ate something afterwards too as all 5 of us were not full.

Beautiful location by the beach, yesterday the whole place is hectic no service at all. We clean the dirty table ourself, bring water for ourselves, have to queue for ordering too… it’s really bad We waited 40minutes for our food too. But when the food come the food is nice hence the 3 star is all for the food. Would I go back again? Definitely not

We had to stay in the queue for around 20 min to order. As this is a busy place, QR code ordering would be helpful. Apart from the messy ordering system, our coffee were served cold! A great place to have a view of the beach and brunch. We had pancakes, calamari salad, and English breakfast. All tasty and well decorated.

Today I witnessed the deplorable moment a young couple with a baby were ejected from the premises and yelled at by staff telling them to come back when they are vaxxed! The couple apparently have recovered from COVID and are unable to be vaccinated and have medical exemption certificates which were supplied (horribly enough) and then after being seated were then ejected because of the staff believing the exemption to be fake. This can’t be our society anymore surely!!??

If you’re ever planning on hosting an event, don’t think twice about Sandbar. We hosted our engagement party for about 50 people and everything went off without a hitch. Caitlin Hadley and her team on the night were incredibly helpful throughout. Proactive in their communication leading up to the event and very flexible with our number changes a few days out from the day. We chose to have a bar tab and the canape service as a cocktail event - couldn’t recommend the entire set up enough. We also opted for the hour of unlimited pizzas which was very well received. Note - these arrive after dessert as I believe they are a different vendor. It was a top spot and we were bless with amazing weather.

I don't have a photo of the brisket burger because my boyfriend rightly wrapped himself around it and wouldn't let go, it was so tender and tasty with a crunchy bun, you should definitely order that. Chips were equally perfect. We'd go back just for the burger, sitting right on the beach (minus the sand) views are a bonus.

Came here on a Sunday arvo for a mates graduation party. The bar is right by the beach, has a nice interior and you can go outside on the beach. The staff were very friendly and circulated food pretty frequently, would definitely consider the sandbar for my next function!

What can I say about this amazing place? Our wedding was held there on Nov 12 and it was such a wonderful experience. Our guests could not be happier. A big thank you to our event co-ordinator Caitlin Hadley for always being there and answering those tricky questions! Would not hesitate for a moment to have a function at the Sandbar. Big heartfelt thank you xx

Absolute rip off. What the menu says: Tasmanian smoked salmon with pickled fennel, orange, dill, potato chips.. this is what we got! I mean, 3 chips, really?! Leaving the place hungry and 24 AUD less! Disappointing!

Great spot for Brunch while soaking in the beachfront atmosphere. This is a lovey spot, especially on a day when you can sit outside right on the beach. The staff are friendly and helpful. This place is a great we to enjoy the beach and some good food and beverage at the same time. Very dog friendly. You order at the counter and they will bring it out to you. This is always a bit of a downer for me as I never can be bothered going up to order a second coffee, which I almost always have if they take orders at the table. The food is very good. The coffee was ok , but not great, drinkable but not as good as I would expect from a Melbourne Cafe. It was weak and only just warm. I guess I can order a stronger and hotter one next time.

I was so happy with my experience at Sandbar today. The staff were friendly and accommodating despite being under the pump, my coffee (soy latte) and food (green & grain) were both delicious and they arrived quickly. Best of all, the most excellent vibe/view of the beach on a sunny day. Also, yay for dogs! Can’t wait to go again

Fish and Chips - Shoe String Fries without any special / creative input. Simple Salad - Greens & Thinly Sliced Radish with some sort of oily salad dressing. Presentation was nice. Bonus: Lemon Quarter and Tartare Sauce which I might add was pretty good - Cost: $27. I won’t come back - it’s just not worth it.

Been there for a coffee. The coffee is just lightly too acidic for me but I’ll do the job. Personally not my taste, oh and the coffee lid is not great at all for a take away drink. It’s great it’s recycling paper but maybe not to use it for the lid.

Really great location (right on the beach) and delicious food. Been here several times with my friend and her toddler. The only awkward part is having to get up and order at the counter, which means someone can take your table if you're by yourself... or if you're with a toddler, you can't leave them at the table. There are lots of wait staff so I wish they'd just do table orders.

Today my husband, our baby and myself went to this Cafe for a quick lunch on the first day out if lockdown. The wait staff requested to see our vaccination certificate prior to entering. We informed them that we have a medical exemption. They allowed us to take a seat and wanted to see our exemption paperwork at the table we were seated at. unfortunately we were diagnosed with covid and our doctor informed us it is not recommended for us to get the vaccine at the moment, and provided us a temporary exemption. We showed the paperwork and our identification to the manager to which he accepted. My husband went to the counter to order our food only to be told by the manager he cannot serve us and we will have to leave the Cafe as he thought our exemption was FAKE! My husband then showed him the EMAIL from our doctor with the attached exemption form, the manager then changed his reason and said we cannot be served as we haven't been double vaxxed. In front of all the customers he discriminated against us and made us leave the Cafe because we weren't able to get the vaccination due to our medical reasons. Shame on this man and Cafe for making a family feel like this uncomfortable in front of everyone !! Then to yell at us infront of other customers as we leave the Cafe "we don't take exemptions, it's doubled vaxxed ONLY, GO GET VACCINATED THEN COME BACK"

Coffees came out promptly and were very nice. Kids enjoyed their milkshakes, however nothing on the menu for the little fella was a bummer. Lunch was great. The schnitzel was excellent as was the calamari and fish n chips.

This cafe restaurant bar on the beach offers a great atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. The menu features fresh and delicious food, perfect for a meal by the ocean. Additionally, the location is ideal for renting a bike and taking a leisurely ride along the beach. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing and enjoyable day by the water.

Went to try the fish and chips, calamari and have some tea by the beach, great view outside relaxing but avoid feeding the birds you have been warned.. walk to the shore and drop scraps/chips there if you really need too, this avoids them flying over the tables and hanging around, birds need to eat too 🐦 great day, great place, FYI you can also sit inside to avoid the seagulls

Food was incredible and our to table very quickly even in a busy public holiday. Such a beautiful spot, dog friendly and a great Melbourne spot to show visitors for sure. Now that I’ve found it I’ll be a regular no doubt. This was the eggs bene on brisket and hash browns with extra hollandaise sauce and bacon and one of the healthy sodas

Couldn’t have loved this venue more, I hosted my sisters hens party here on the weekend. There were 33 guests and the space was just spectacular. Couldn’t recommend Sandbar highly enough!

Hosted our wedding a couple of months ago at The Sandbar. We had the BEST time. Lovely staff that night including bartenders, waiters and security. Sam was just amazing to us! She made sure we were being looked after. Food was DELICIOUS, our guests were in fact very pleased with the canapés being served hot. Sound system was on point and we definitely had a lot of fun that night. Very pleased about the overall experience and we don't regret choosing The Sandbar as our wedding venue. Thank you Caitlin for helping us organise our magical day.

What a great little find. We had the calamari and Mexican scrambled eggs along with the blue heaven milkshake. Everything was perfect. A generous serving with lots of flavour. The location and views out over the bay make for a great place to spend an hour or two. Outdoor seating means you could spend even longer soaking up the whole bayside atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.

When i visit the Melbourne Temple next, I will be back again for more awesomeness! Thanks for being kind to me, whilst i sat and read my book for a few hours - Jade

Pretty spot to pop into for a coffee and a bite to eat. Can’t really go wrong with a view of the water. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

Unfortunately had a bad experience. The ambiance of the place is great but the food was quite disappointing. My fish and chips weren’t good, with the fish being very rubbery, to top it off there was some metallic thing in my food. They did refund that particular dish. The prawn tacos were the only thing that was well made and tasted okay .

Great food, reasonably priced and brilliant location! One of the first places we visited in Melbourne, and this was definitely one that stuck in our mind for all the right reasons. Great in the summer weather and a fantastic location. Food was top notch, and both indoor and outdoor seating was available.

Could not recommend The Sandbar enough! We held our engagement party here recently and we're so pleased with how the night turned out. The venue itself is beautiful, guests could not stop complimenting the food, and the staff on that night were outstanding. 2 staff in particular went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing night and I have to say they made the night go so smoothly. I would absolutely hold another event here, everyone who we dealt from start to finish was so professional and friendly, Thank you!

Gorgeous, intimate location and atmosphere. A staff member - Amelie - made us feel welcome and helped to seat us quickly. All staff friendly. No table service, though the food was fresh and good quality. Lots of couples and small groups enjoying the morning.

Strongly recommend this place for the view and for the wonderful team who served us at our Christmas function yesterday. Caitlin, Wes and the team were amazing and so helpful. Today we’ve all been hearing how delicious the food was as well. Thanks Guys!

A lovely, busy place right on the beach. Well worth a visit and great spot for families too. The staff were busy so we had a bit of a wait, but such a great view! We'll be back for sure. Accessibility to beachside area could be challenging for some, there are different levels, a few steps to outdoor area.
