ORDERED: 🥗 Nourish bowl: with quinoa, asparagus, kale, cherry tomatoes, sweet potato crisps, grilled halloumi, beetroot hummus, one poached egg & a side of lemon wedge + smoked salmon ($27.00) 🍟 Crumbed onion rings ($8.00) REVIEW: All the food we had at The Alleyway is bang for buck. The portion is generous, especially at the normal brunch price. I loved the smoked salmon on top of my nourish bowl. Slightly creamy, salty and smoky, it added a delicious much needed element. Although the beetroot hummus was artfully smeared on one side, I found the abundance of quinoa still drying. Wish there was something more 'hydrating' about this dish. Like opting for a more watery sauce instead? The crumbed onion rings were delicious though! Ended up finding a piece of sharp plastic in my quinoa. Flagged it with the staff, and they offered to take the bowl away and make a dish but I was happy to finish it. When I was paying, they apologised again and informed that it must've been from the quinoa storage box that they were using. Found that the staff were difficult to flag down. Sequestered away in an area behind foliage that was at eye height, I have no idea how they would manage to catch our/anyone's eyes - unless we actively and flamboyantly tried to get their attention or they were conveniently walking past.

Great food and coffee, the single origin espresso was really nice as either black or white coffees. They make their own chilli oil too. Nice operation and a new regular spot for me when I get a day off. Recommend checking them out and worth driving too.

We went on a busy Sunday morning. Staff were informative and helpful, giving us a 15 minute time frame to get a table. Only took 5-10mins. Efficient service …from taking our orders, to coffees, then food coming out. The menu was difficult to choose from as there were many fabulous options to choose from. Food was generously proportioned. Would go back again.

An excellent cafe in the Heidelberg area. Out of the many smashed avocados I’ve tried, this is certainly one of the better ones. Other menu items are delicious and creative. They did have a plant based menu which seemed to be discontinued when I visited recently, but previously tried a seriously good vegan mushroom and cashew cream spaghetti. Unfortunately the last couple times I visited the water glasses were very dirty, but I did enjoy my matcha latte complete with latte art.

My family had a wonderful Sunday morning experience at this place! The staff was super friendly, and the service was incredibly quick. The food arrived within 5-10 minutes, which was a big relief as we had two hungry kids with us. While we were unable to try the mains as they start from 11 am, we opted for the big breakfast and baked eggs, and both dishes were not only delicious but also served in generous portions. We can't wait to explore their mains on our next visit. Highly recommended!

The staff were friendly, and my husband really enjoyed his chili scramble. I’d happily try here again when it’s not during the mid-morning Saturday rush.

The food was good. I wouldn’t say excellent, I had the chilli scramble. The food presentation was really good but the taste can be a little bit better. This is my point of view, Incan wrong as well. They have good coffees, the ambience and service was excellent. Would definitely go back and try something different. I would definitely recommend people to go and experience the place.

Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere, fast and friendly service! I’ve been there on a busy Saturday morning before and it does take awhile to get seated and food served. But overall it’s been such a great experience and I always come back to this cafe for their yummy food

Been there multiple times. Never fails to satisfy my taste buds. Last time ordered blueberry pankaces with an inviting caramelized banana and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream in a small chocolate bowl. Fluffiest I've ever had. Service is good. A little noisy on weekends. Food is always decadant and scrumptious. Defenitley recommend.

We had a fantastic lunch at the Alleyway Cafe in Heidelberg, Melbourne. The Brisket Benedict was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was excellent. Highly recommend this cozy spot for a delightful dining experience!

Booked a table for 12 the Saturday morning before Christmas. The staff were very accommodating when there were only 10 of us. The menu is superb, there were at least 5 options that I wanted which is very rare! All of the food that my party had was amazing, well priced and they split the bill, which not a lot of places do these days. All of the staff were super friendly but not in a cheesy way. 10 out of 10 and I am not easy to please! Can't wait to go back. Keep up the good work!

I had the mushroom burger and added jalapeno really enjoyed it. I didnt love the crunch of the eggplant in the burger though wouldve preferred the eggplant to be fried.. Unfortunately the sweet potato chips were floppy and soft and very unpleasant to eat.

A trendy spot. Great service, nice atmosphere. The food was lacking. I ordered the Brisket Benedict. There was no balance to the dish. Deep fried Halloumi, deep fried potato. Thick heavy Brisket. I can still feel it in my stomach. Another cafe that puts aesthetic before flavour. It gets by on a nice vibe.

It's a really lovely cafe. Busy with a good vibe. All the staff are fantastic, efficient and genuinely friendly. Nice coffees, which came out quickly. The chilli scramble is one of the better ones I've had, good amount of coriander and spicy heat, served with a blended mayo and smashed avocado. Corn fritters were very tasty. The big breakfast was just right, tasty sausage and crispy hash browns. The brekky burrito was very filling and delicious. All the food came out quickly, so you can easily get in and out within the 1hr parking limit without rushing.

We visited late in the afternoon and had a lovely meal! I had the roasted cauliflower salad which was simple but so delicious and light and my friends had a burger! I also had a really well made dirty chai. The portions were generous and the staff were friendly!
