The male bartender with a beard/tied up ponytale in stussy t shirt was very rude. Wouldn't chat, wouldn't recommend drinks, said "All cocktails taste the same if they're shaken or stirred" bit low for a quiet bar. Music was average, Wouldn't bother

A generic bar that lacks soul, hospitality & joy. I was there last Friday for an electronic music event & it's not the best venue for this due to the layout, crowd & bar staff. The regular crowd is quite corporate so it effects the vibe when most don't truly appreciate the music. The downstairs is one long narrow bar so it's not suitable for an actual dance floor as there is no space & the small amount of floorspace blocks the entry to the courtyard & the music is too quite. The upstairs is a small dedicated room with great speakers & the DJ's, projections & sound were great. The staff from the actual music event were great. However, the female bar manager & security were extremely aggressive when a few people danced on the stage in front of the DJ. She came with a bright light on the dance floor a few times & aggresively grabbed people by the arm & pushed them off, myself included. It was basically assault. It was harmless fun but it felt like they were the fun police & created an awkward ambience. Then the bouncer stood on the stage arms crossed creating a very hostile negative energy. The event was advertised until 5am I had a friend nearby who wanted to stop by for a drink at 4am but was not allowed entry even though he was just outside & wanted to say hi. It just does not feel run by passionate people who care about music or their customers having a great time. Shame as the DJ's & music on the night was great, you can see he is passionate about music & has created many great events before. The venue does not do the DJ's any justice especially for those who play downstairs. It's just not the right venue, needs to be a less commercial venue with more respectful staff. Won't ever come back here no matter who's playing.

The lights are really weird - some parts are super dark, super parts are too bright. The bar looks empty and generic, no beer taps. The DJ booth is designed really weirdly as well - the DJ is standing at the end of the bar facing a wall, so that customers see the DJs back.

Went to see The Nasty Show on as part of the Comedy Festival. The bar is cosy with seats along the bar, a few small circular tables sticking out of the opposite wall, a few tables up the back, and that's it. The Friday night I was there, there was a DJ playing music, but it wasn't too loud. The range of beer wasn't huge but still a good variety. They also had bar snacks but I didn't have any to be able to comment. The show was in the small upstairs room which has a small bar (which wasn't open for the small number of us at the show) at the back and a small stage at the other end. All round it was a cosy environment with music at a social volume and decent drinks. Would go again before or after another event.

The worst security that I've ever encountered. Really unfortunate because it's otherwise a pretty decent place.

Contemporary & comfortable, excellent staff & the very best DJs - the wonderful courtyard at the rear provides perfect respite to take in the fresh air & look at the stars with its open air access. LOVE ❤️

This place just gets it. Wonderful unpretentious atmosphere, tasteful music, can come here dressed up or down in whatever mood and fit right in.

Angel used to be a place you might want to go, but definitely no longer. If you want to get man handled by security, this is the place for you!! Prepare for unjustified discrimination with a side of disrespect. Consistently terrible behaviour by security seems to be the new normal.

Great bar great music and normally I have fun but they made my friend the WORST espresso martini it was actually 70% foam??? When pointed out to the bar tender he just shrugged....disappointing.

Great little place, but two of the girls were super rude and dismissive to me. The black guy and tatted guy were super friendly though, but the two girls ruined my experience

Used to love this place.. music, atmosphere and back courtyard made it the place to spend Friday night with friends in the CBD. Last few experiences have been poor, primarily due to the rude, hostile and obnoxious ladies running the bar, which is a shame. I hope it rediscovers itself.

Highly recommend Angel Music Bar, the music was the vibe and service was excellent. I was greeted by the friendliest bouncer I've encountered since returning to Melbourne. Would've loved to have checked out upstairs because I've heard so many great things but .... oh well. Can't wait to check it out again. The music was well curated and the crowd diversity was on point.. 5 Stars x 5 Aces x

I have never had a bad experience here. Top line deejays and friendly staff make this place what it is. A safe accepting venue for the freaks and the not so normals of the world to congregate and discuss the future. Beautiful Sound system gives off those blade runner vibes. "I only do eyes"

Cosy upstairs little hideaway, a favourite for catching some of Melbourne's and touring DJ's. In fact I just refer to it as the "DJ Clubhouse"

First time leaving a negative review.....Went to an album launch the other night. Waiting in line for 45mins when security allowed 15-20 "guestlist" people through, no actual list to register either. Subsequently made everyone in the public line wait much longer. Fairly pretentious crowd... We paid entry, stayed for a few minutes and left as it wasnt a nice experience. An unfortunate way of welcoming patrons into your venue Place has great musicians and DJs hence why we wanted to go there

Miles was a friendly and experienced bartender. Hand crafted exactly what I was looking for with gracious hospitality. Will definitely be back.

After a show at the Forum, came here on the earlier side and loved the vibe. Even while under staffed (a call-out) the bartenders were attentive and friendly. Go early for the best people watching.

Ok I like never leave reviews but one of the bartenders was so awful that I felt like I should. The upstairs bar was out of change so I had to go to the downstairs bar to get my change after paying in cash upstairs. I was super polite to this bartender and totally acknowledged that it was an annoying request and knew that they were busy and she rolled her eyes at me and made a sarcastic comment. I am a bartender too and I know it’s a hard job and sometimes being rude to the awful customers is a pleasant part of the job, but in this case it was completely uncalled for. I literally never go Karen but she was just so incredibly mean.

Would have given 1 star if it weren’t for a kind bar person (Jack?) who took me seriously when I said one of my past abusers was in the venue. I tried to say this was unsafe person and was met with the ‘he said, she said’ rhetoric by the security staff. This person took advantage of me when drunk and I’m sure he’d do the same to other women in the venue if given the opportunity. They kicked my friend and I out who were visibly distraught instead of the actual predator himself. Not a safe place for women.
