Perfect for a quick bite after stomping around the city and making your way down Fitzroy Street to meander along the Esplanade and visit St Kilda Beach. Had the BLT as they were out of steak sandwiches the night prior. Bread was toasted to perfection, and was pure grainy goodness with a good crunch. Lettuce and tomato were fresh and the bacon was cooked to juicy heaven and all this paired with an amazing garlic aioli with just the right amount that wasn't skimped on. Couldn't say much for my partners salad (AFAIK she was just a equally impressed) as I was focused on demolishing what has to be one of the best BLT sandwiches I've had in ages.

Truly delicious chicken pie and roast beef dinner! The Fifth Province was the perfect location for my first rugby match, especially considering it was Ireland v Scotland. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly! Unfortunately one of the bathroom doors didn’t lock properly, but the rest of the experience was otherwise good enough that I don’t have the heart to take a star off. Just make sure it’s locked before you mount the porcelain throne. I’ll definitely be back!

Went for Steak night, $22 for porterhouse, chips and salad + a sauce. Great steak, especially given the price and was cooked to our liking. The garlic butter and mushroom sauces were plentiful and the chips were salty and crunchy enough for this chip fiend. It was pretty loud and sports on the TV which is to be expected, tables seemed plentiful until about 6.15-6.30, after that you'd need a booking or possibly sitting outside. Will definitely be back and keen to try out the $20 Parma Wednesdays!

Happened by on a Thursday night that happened to be a steak special night. Great steak at a very reasonable cost. The wait staff was right on it for such a busy place. Some nice live music started about half way into my meal. Pleasant night.

Classic Irish bar with a beautiful sunset over St Kilda Beach nearby. Always love to hang out here for a beer while waiting for a tram back home. The vibe is so cool here while the ambience is warm & welcoming enough.

We went for lunch and we absolutely loved this place! It felt like we gad just walked off a street in St.Kilda into a pub in Ireland. The atmosphere was great with music and UFC and NBA on some good size flat screens. Service was quick and staff were super friendly. The parmas were definitely one of the best I've had. A large size with chips and salad for only $25 was great! Super juicy and tender chicken and the napoli on the Parma was beautiful. We will be back

Made a booking over the phone with a lovely gentlemen who was professional and friendly however when we arrived at the bar for said booking we were not met with a friendly tone. A gentle man waved us over towards the bar and as we walked over he walked away?? As we waited at the bar very awkwardly to be seated for our booking about 3 staff members looked at us then ignored us. Very odd interaction for such a happy vibe in a bar. After a while longer we would be seated and got our drinks and steaks. The beers were nice and cold however the orange juice i ordered was clearly off, warm and acidic. The steaks however were fantastic for their steak night. Overall an odd experience with great vibes and live music.

A nice bar and restaurant with a descent food. Usually crowded especially on the weekend. Every month they have a special Beer in the menu which is nice. You can also enjoy watching sports here. I don't consider the menu as an expensive one.

Went on a Saturday night for a quick dinner with a small group (5 people). Was busy as expected for the day of the week, which also meant it was pretty loud. We had a couple of vegans in the group who appreciated the vegan options, although the food wasn't amazing. I'd say this would be a better place for drinks only.

Tonight we had dinner at this cool local pub. We enjoyed our short staying a lot. 20% of discount on Tuesdays on mains - nice detail to add. Hamburger was very good, and the shepherd’s pie was also delicious served pretty generously. Staff was friendly and pretty fast although the place was full. Beer was fresh, cold and tasty. Couldn’t ask for more.

Classic international style Irish pub. Good food, good beer and a warm welcome. Stopped by for a late lunch: Pint of Guinness and a Chicken Parma, both hit the spot

  • 5/5 Brad W. 2 years ago on Google
Very good pub food, including a house made chicken parma which must be one of the very few in the area not to be defrosted from a Bird's Eye packet shortly before serving. Good choice of beers and excellent friendly service. Lovely old interior, being part of the old St Kilda railway station. Ambient music perfect volume to create a nice vibe but not too loud for a quiet conversation.

Gee what a gem. Irish pub without the fakeness. Food great, beer even better with a 3 hour happy hour and terrific staff that want to be there. YES, go here.

The food was incredible, I eat at a lot of pubs and this place is among the best. Nice rich gravy, thick tasty onion rings. Full and delicious seafood chowder. Came on $22 steak night and was incredibly pleased, also turns out they have $8 pints until 7pm mon-thurs. Highly recommended, and can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu. Not often you're keen to come right back to a pub

Great spot for a beer, beer tastes fresh and came out at the perfect temp. Great service, didn't have to wait. Footy on the TV, tram stop right next door direct to the city of o boot.

This place is great during the day up to 19:30-20:00, or on weekdays at any time, however after that it is just loud, overly full and very hot. Sitting outside is always great, that's the go to for us every time, it is nice out there sitting on Fitzroy Street whether you're having a drink or something to eat but you're also part of the fifth too. The staff are mostly good. There is a young woman with long, wavy hair behind the bar who is an absolute legend! Always makes you feel welcome, always smiling, and knows how to have a joke.

Went here early today for Sunday roast. Roast was really tasty but cold. Really disappointing. Usually love this place and it’s entertainment but standards seem to have dropped in the kitchen.

I ordered the steak yesterday. The mushroom sauce wasn't thick enough and was running. The top chips was fresh but the rest filed with old chips. Wasn't great taste for $35 steak

Meals were big and very delicious - good pub fare. Beers were cold and bar service good. Very noisy - to be expected on a Sunday evening. Big turn off - female bar staff chewing gum like a cow chews it's cud whilst pouring beers and serving meals trying to be helpful.

Great Irish pub! Lots of seating options inside and outdoors. Service at the bar is quick and efficient and food service is very good too. They do an all day breakfast menu ranging from $10-$30.

Not one to normally leave a bad review but had a really strange experience with the security at this venue. Our friends had a table outside, three of them on a table that sat six. When we arrived there was a line, and we were told that we were not allowed to sit there and that we had to line up. Although this was a bit annoying (as there was spare space on their table), we obliged out of fairness to the others in line. Whilst waiting, we were told that even if we got to the front of the line, we would not be allowed to join our friends. And instead would have to sit inside away from our friends. This was super strange and the security were really dismissive and rude whilst explaining this. I understand things can be stressful when it’s busy, but this rule made absolutely no sense. We would have happily bought food and drinks and given the venue business, but instead our entire group had to leave.

Michael apparently a manager of some sort needs to learn how to speak to people with respect and to learn management skills. I have never seen someone less qualified for a management role. after being a loyal customer I will not be returning.

Food is quite good, best bacon and cabbage compare to all other Irish pubs. I don’t find the bar staff as friendly what other people says in their comments, maybe they are just friendly to Irish.

I literally just randomly walked in this bar and randomly ordered club sandwiches, it was surprisingly so good, I couldn’t drink during the day but would like to come again another time to try beers.

BANGING breakfast…full English breakfast style (or Irish). Walked around for ages trying to find a reasonably priced veggie breakfast. The chef made a good one I was very happy I should have taken a picture it was huge. Can’t recommend enough!

One of the staff with spectacles for delivery Pickup is highly unfriendly . Such an obscure and threatening behaviour with delivery drivers. Hope the owner sees this review and takes cohesive and a strict against him. Or else the restaurants is one of the best to eat in Melbourne. Thank You!!.

Fish again & I ordered Barramundi & actually GOT barramundi. Very tasty great crisp skin and it came with roasted veggies & just as good as the fish...which I should say was Totally scrumptious. Nice place and whilst not busy this was only due to covid19 restrictions. Would also recommend to all. Good beer too.

If you want to eat in an Irish pub with fantastic food and drink then go no further. There is also a live fiddle and guitar band that plays you through your meal. Friendly staff and a fantastic atmosphere makes this venue one of the best places in St.Kilda. A must visit ?❤

The Fifth is another St Kilda icon. Located on the site of the former St Kilda rail station it can be reached by both the 96 and 16 trams - or by rolling the dice and parking on Fitzroy St. Food is solid pub fare, with an Irish influence (who would have guessed!). Local classics and daily specials are also on offer. The Parma is good go to. A wide selection of tap beers and ciders are also available.

Steak was cooked well and the delicious potato pie that came with it was a pleasant surprise! The pepper sauce had a nice kick to it which I didn’t expect. But combined with the white garlic sauce (don’t know what it’s called) it was absolutely amazing! The pub had a good atmosphere and despite being really busy at the time we got out food in reasonable time. I’ll definitely be heading back there soon

The bar is great, beers are good, live music BUT they have a blonde bartender (I think her name is Amy) that every time we go is the WORST service ever. We literally pretend we are looking at the menu until another girl comes so we can order lur food and drinks. Not sure how she has been there for so long being that way.

They advertised having the Australian Open on TV. So we came here and bought some expensive food. And the Open IS on the TV. There are a couple dozen people here specifically to watch it. And there is some super-loud and annoying Irish band that makes it difficult to focus on the TV and impossible to turn the sound on for the match. I feel swindled. Wish I could get my money back, but the musical duet didn't start setting up until we were halfway finished with our meal. Boo, hiss. Don't advertise yourself as a sports if you're going to pump overly loud and sleepy music through the speakers.
