Whoever did the ground work for this pub deserves a raise, Wetherspoons have this one perfect. It has effectively become a community pub at the heart of stowmarket. All comers visit it for a drink, food or even just a coffee. Good space outside for the summer. Has been a great addition to the town.

I used to love coming here for breakfast every Saturday... Now it's terrible... Cold toast Rock hard bacon Under cooked tomato Over cooked eggs The sausages were ok... Tiny portion of beans ( 2 forks worth ) stone cold. The cook must have changed or something ,, the breakfasts here at the min are beyond terrible .... Alcohol that cheap, invites a very specific demographic. Update: March 19 2022 - the breakfast are still touch and go, guess it depends on the cook , as they don't employ chefs... ( a chef has qualifications as a chef, a cook doesn't)... Sometimes the breakfast is great, sometimes it's rock hard, stone cold and totally useless....today was one of those times. Absolutely disgusting, everything over cooked, Rock hard eggs, black bacon, cold sausage, cold beans, 1 rubbery cold mushroom, cold toast,,, dirty cutlery, and then some kid walks over and asks us if everything is OK!? We ordered 2 breakfasts and they came before we got our coffee.....!?! So it wasn't cooked fresh, it was all sat there on a hot plate. Disgusting breakfast. Wouldn't feed it to a dog. Then, to add insult to injury, they ask you if everything is OK !!!!!!! A bit cheeky if you ask me . Yes, it's cheap food we are not expecting gourmet,,, but we at the very least expected it to be cooked,,, not over cooked or rock hard and stone cold . Update: July 17 2022 - Ordered the American breakfast and a coffee ,, and 2 poached eggs with tomato and hash browns with a tea. Got told there's no tomatoes and no pancakes. So I changed the order to a large breakfast with coffee and scrambled eggs with a side of hash browns and a tea. What I got served was : A large breakfast with 2 extra poached eggs and 2 extra hashbrowns!?! And my wife got scrambled eggs on toast with hash browns .. I told a member of staff that not only was the food cold, and the eggs Rock hard, but also the order was very wrong . She kindly amended to order and reimbursed us. Unfortunately, I then had to go back and ask if I can have a freshly cooked breakfast that wasn't cold, with runny eggs and soft bacon and warm toast. After some under breath mutterings, the breakfast was returned, still cold . Cold toast , hard bacon, solid eggs,, and 2 forks of beans. I again mentioned the breakfast,, and was met with aggression. The manager then appeared took one look at the breakfast and said she will give me a full refund . When she did this she said that the breakfasts are always the same . I told her that the one in Ipswich was perfectly cooked and the one in Bury was excellent with much larger portions - she ignored me and walked off. Absolutely ridiculous service, disgusting behaviour and attitude and absolutely terrible food. Stowmarket really needs somewhere good to get breakfast.

Nice food and drink at a good price. Food served hot. Friendly staff, interesting building. Lots of tables outside (see photos). Big car park behind it (by B&M it's pay and display). Smaller car park at the front across the road. The Willow Tree - another great Wetherspoons.

It's the lovliest Wetherspoons that I've ever been to. The building is a delight, with a carefully thought out outside space. The staff working today were really good, and I would suspect this is due to good management. The food was great, well presented and arrived hot and quickly. The waitress came to check that we were happy with the food (never had this happen in a Wetherspoons before) and the guy who took the order at the bar was charming. Well done.

Very frustrating that you can't give minus starsa. Family of 13 including 4 children, 11 mths ,9 ,14 and nearly 15yrs. As there were no tables near each other we were told that we'd just have to sit at separate tables, amazing customer service A lovely member of staff sorted the tables to enable us all to sit together which was great. However before we'd time to order desert we were told by some female jobsworth that we had to leave as children have to be out by nine. We said that we were unaware of this and were told by some her at least twice that it was on their website. The vegan dish was posibly some sort of Quorn nuggets in some sort of curry sauce yuck. This was my first and last visit. After this experience none of us will ever use them again.

Went here for a spot of food. Was staying locally at the Travelodge. You're typical Wetherspoons. Ordered the Sirloin steak and a garlic bread. Food was up to your usual standard. Passable for the money. The mushrooms where cold though. Staff where polite and helpful. Would recommend..

Staying nearby so walked down for a drink and a small bite to eat. Drink deals were good and the food was tasty, only complaint was my drinks sat on the bar 10 mins before being delivered (I had to prompt the staff member to bring them over) Staff are polite and friendly though. Came in for breakfast the next day, good value for money and although the breakfast didn’t look too good it tasted nice and I was given extra hash browns instead of tomatoes which I’m fine with. I’d recommend.

1st visit to this location. Lovely new looking spoons. Very clean and well kept. Most importantly the beans on our breakfast were HOT, this has never happened before, and we've been in so many over the years.

For a spoons in such a small town it was really nice, new things on the menu like the shawarma wrap. Really impressed. Nice pub, didn't go outside but garden looked great for the summer

Always busy, cheap and clean. The food can be really good depending on what you order. But it's not there fault as they are having to deal with the generic menu and ingredients all around the country. Beer is really good.

The staff were extremely busy yet still very pleasant and efficient. The food was well cooked, nicely presented and delicious. Properly poured pint of Guinness and a very pleasant white wine included with the meals. One or two people seemed impatient, hence the 4 not 5 stars for atmosphere.

Visited Saturday around 6pm, was busy, but staff worked hard to keep on top of orders. I had sweet curry special, and was really impressed. Two pints of nethergate which was excellent. Fully recommend

The drink is always fresh and the food is always relatively good with never too many errors, the only downside is that I find it rather annoying when you sit and watch your food under the lamps, getting old whilst the waiting staff are talking at the bar. Cheap and cheerful and still a favourite for a quick dinner out.

Staff were unkind and mildly hostile. The menu was severely limited due to the lack of eggs and would not substitute for anything only being able to serve some of the dishes on the menu. Would not recommend it puts shame to the usual high service in the chain.

Staff were friendly, atmosphere was excellent. Met friends which made the evening pass quickly, great company. Good food in general, but we were not impressed with the 🍔 burger. The fish and chips I had was cooked well and was tasty but wife didn't like the burger meal, as brouche bun, which is a personal dislike and the burger was poor tbh. People at the pub were friendly, which makes the whole atmosphere of the public house pleasant. Definitely be visiting again 😃.

Went at 6pm on a Saturday and it was very busy. We had to wait to get a seat. Staff were brilliant could not do enough for us. I used the app which worked a treat. I had the mixed grill. It was lovely. But.. just as well that I Like my food cremated xx

Waited 25 mins for a breakfast wrap and a bacon sandwich! This was already bad enough then it came out cold! We complained and then they brought it over again after about another 15 min wait was Luke warm this time and had to wait longer for my mushroom. I feel the food and service has really gone down hill recently. The waiter slammed the plates onto the table like it was to much effort also.

Disgusting... Got food poisoning from the chicken wings. Also had the "pizza fries" supposed to be fries with pizza sauce and cheese but they just opened a tin of chopped tomatoes and spooned some of the juice over the chips, i then watched it sit on the pass for 7 minutes before it was brought to the table (it wasn't busy) and the chips were basically a mushy paste by that point. Don't get my wrong, i understand this is Wetherspoons and not fine dining but this is a step down even from your average Wetherspoons location. Avoid at all costs.

Pleasantly surprised... it's not gourmet but the food WAS pretty decent (especially for the price, top value!) the service was excellent (I wish I'd got the young man's name that served us, very helpful, polite, and smiley 😊). After its first opening, it took a bit of a dip a few years ago, in my opinion, but having two older teenagers that love a 'Spoon's' with their mates, I'm glad we gave ourselves a weekday treat and saw that it is most definitely 'back up there' and deserves a good rating 👍🏻🍽🌟 OH, and a real 'mum thing' - I LOVED their crockery choice! 😅

Always a good friendly service with hot or cold drinks at the bar. The food is excellent and well priced. Don't just read this, go find out for yourself.

Warning dog owner's!! Went for some food and drink on a nice sunny lunch sitting outside to be told we couldn't have food due to our puppy being with us!! Was told to finish our drinks and leave. Coming from working for Greene King which are dog friendly to be told to leave was disgusting!! If my dog isn't welcome I'm not welcome! Staff were rude as well!! Clearly they don't need the customer's!!

Had a nice lunch here. Ham egg and chips. 3 of us ate for just over £22 and that included a free soft drink each. Will go again.

Me and my family are regulars at here and it’s always been so consistent. But today, I specifically want to thank the floor manager today (sadly forgot to ask his name) for handling a stressful situation for us today so well. My grandma, my mum and myself came for breakfast this morning and were unwelcomed by some of the guests, shouting racial slurs and mocking us. I was a bit hesitant to but decided to speak to the manager and he reassured us that it would be dealt with accordingly and spoke to the guests for us. So thank you for taking care of this so well and understanding how much it meant to us! Top tier staff ☺️

Fish and chips were superb at a great price. Looks like a new carpet has been laid and it makes the place look and feel really fresh. Lots of outdoor seating available.

Seemingly a purpose built outlet rather than Spoons typical refurbished building. Smart, modern and clean inside. Staff were pleasant enough and kept the place tidy. Maybe my all day brunch could have been a bit warmer but it was o.k. Shame they have stopped serving Ruddles beer, which I like, substituted with I.P.A. which was acceptable and a good price.
