Very nice museum. Be sure to take a tour. You will then arrive at otherwise closed places. And learns a lot about the history of the site.

In February 2023 I visited the Hembrug site with two friends. There is the museum, which is two converted transformer houses with objects and information that you can view from outside. It is about the bridge, but also about the factory in which firearms, artillery and ammunition were produced. Almost all the old buildings are still there, some of which have now been given a new purpose and have become space for artists and small businesses, for example. Each building has a QR code on the facade that allows you to view a web page via your phone with some brief information about what the building was previously used for. So you don't necessarily need a guide, but you can walk from building to building yourself and learn about the history of this site. You can also see a large piece of the turning mechanism of the old bridge. For us it was worthwhile to take a leisurely look around, discuss the architecture and read about the site's past.

Interesting free museum with information about the ammunition factory of yesteryear and the subsequent manufacture of civilian products, with 8,500 employees at this location at one time

The Hembrug Museum is located in two transformer houses on Hembrug in Zaandam. It is an open-air presentation that can be viewed daily for free. The Hembrug Museum tells the story of the weapons and ammunition factory that was located on the Hembrug site in Zaandam from the end of the 19th century until 2003.

A nice exhibition, just a pity that it is outside, the Hembrug site is worth a visit with beautiful buildings

Come learn, watch and stroll at the Hembrug Museum. Here you will learn everything about one of the largest military complexes in the Netherlands. Bomb tests and ammunition were developed here in complete secrecy.
