Very nice museum experience. It takes you back to war era. Beautiful city surrounded by water, greenery, tunnels and warfare history. Good walk, lush green gardens, small cafe with snacks and coffe available. The dutch and english tour audio is available. Pre booking of tickets is recommended and with museum card its covered. The long underground tunnels make you stunned!

Interesting place to visit, both in and outside the fortress. Lots to learn about military defence in this low lying country. No videos, but interactive displays with wartime audio. Nice temporary exhibit of the Napoleonic era. Lots to be learned. Also good for a visit with children.

Small but lovingly designed fortress museum in Naarden. Beautifully situated, directly on the fortress wall and moat. Interesting, partly interactive, information about the history of the fortress, exhibition rooms with many exhibits, various cannons, weapons, underground passages,... There is a lot of exciting things to discover. The entrance fee for €12.50 is definitely worth it if you are in Naarden.

Interesting museum about Naarden fortress. Lot of historical info, quiz for kids, shooting a real old cannon on Sundays! Five stars and must visit

Very cool place. You tour under the citadel, in the tunnels, and walk above the top. Really nice view, and very interesting. Not super big so it doesn't take a lot of time. Should see it if you're in Naarden!

A useful, valuable and insightful museum. The museum figuratively and literally reflects the history of fortified towns in the Netherlands through its own physical spaces. Nice to learn the history of the construction/creation. In combination with a visit to the beautiful fortified town of Naarden, it is definitely worth a day trip.

My brother and I really enjoyed this museum. It showcases the military fortifications. It is one of the best preserved star forts in the world. There were people dressed up in old uniforms showing how the canon would be loaded and fired, which was pretty cool. Not much information in English, but there was some. Come if you're a fan of military history or architecture.

Super interesting. The Dutch know (knew) how to construct their forts. Maybe a bit pricey, but staff was friendly and we had an interesting hour there.

Wheelchair accessible route, assistance dogs welcome. Tactile markings would be a great improvement on stairs and the glass doors. Small cafetaria, in historic design. Accessible toilet. We had an awesome day. Videos of history of some Dutch waterways in Dutch and English audio.

(Translated by Google) What a friendly people! Good coffee and everything is in an excellent state of repair. Souvenirs are disproportionately expensive. Highly recommended to go. Some days you can sail and shoot them with a cannon. For the children fun to meet Napoleon, among others. Goats run free, very nice too. Are impossible stairs to get to, for example, the whispers, do not know whether this is due to the Corona or whether it is permanent. Currently not possible for people with walking difficulties. Dogs are welcome, this was very pleasant for us.

An excellent museum. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The audio guide was decent and the museum has a good mix of outdoor and indoor exhibits. It is good to go when there is no rain, as some outside walking is needed.

I finally also visited the museum inside after having visited a few times the outside part of the museum. While I really like seeing the star shaped fortification which you can walk over, get a very good impression of how it was build and why, I thought that the level of the inside museums was a bit lower. Especially if you have to pay for the ticket. Nice is when you go on a day there is the cannon demonstration.

Its a nice place to explore with children. It has a beautiful water canals running around the casle. It has lots of green area and play parks for kids. One can have boating to do in to the canals. Saturday farmer's market had the variety food. A big church with a kids play area in front. A big statue behind the church. An ancient city hall with a guide to tell you about the history of casle. Some remains of old casle. Hobbit look a like houses around the canals. Ohh I forgot to mention there a a small zoo area at the corner before you enter the casle with animals Beers, sheep's , goats, peacocks, Emu etc. In stort is a great place for a day trip for a family.

Beautiful and peaceful place. We really wanted to do the boat tour but there were no shipmates available on the day we went, which was unfortunate. They showed the history really well, and were more than happy to give us explanations. Great experience!

Interesting insight into this unique looking fortress. As much of it was in Dutch without English translation,it doesn't take much time to visit all the exhibitions. Because of this I feel like I was limited in what I could get out of it. We were told we could get a free coffee with I AMsterdam card but was told otherwise after ordering. More than happy to support the musuem but would appreciate it if the staff could get their facts correct to avoid future confusion and awkwardness. As buses to this area run infrequently, best to plan ahead to get most of your day.

I would even recommend this if you care about Dutch history. It's very informative and naarden is also a great small city, it breathes history. Museum is all in Dutch, no other languages in any of the signs.

This is awesome, especially on "schuttersdagen" when they shoot some cannons, check the agenda for that one. It's an interesting experience to walk through the "vesting" and get a taste of how it was like living, working and fighting in the old days. Vesting stad Naarden is a beautiful and very interesting town with a rich but bloody history. You can walk around it, very photogenic and in the museum a lot of volunteers who are willing to explain things or show you around.

Not far from Amsterdam, but tucked away in a tiny corner, one gets to see the engineering marvels of the Dutch. The star shaped.double moats look beautiful and the walk on the ramparts is also breath-taking. The museum gives further insight into the construction of the whole fort and the life of the soldiers who lived there. And to top it all of, got a live demonstration of a canon shooting!

(Translated by Google) This museum was a bit disappointing when we compare it to how other museums manage during Corona time. There was no cruise, no cannon shot, and no tours on our visit day. Two friendly employees on the whole site, but that was it. You then walk a bit rudderless across the terrain, which would be much more profitable if it were made more interactive and modern in terms of presentation. Far too many pieces of text and then only in Dutch. That is really no longer possible. What I find bad in terms of safety is the bad deposit above a six meter deep kazemate entrance !! It is waiting for a toddler who once escapes from his parents and falls to his death. Address immediately! Direct aanpakken!

From the outside, you can see the view of the fortress and the defense configuration of the fort, and the inside of the fort is very cool, introducing the history of the year and displaying historical relics.
