Amazing hotel. The hotel staff was incredible and the service was top notch. Special kudos to the team at the executive lounge — they were so wonderful! The hotel reached out to me before my arrival to know when to expect me. The check-in was flawless. They had a gorgeous welcome gift arrangement for me with handwritten welcoming notes (ambassador-elite status). The executive lounge was wonderful and I was actually able to use it for some of my meetings. The view was gorgeous and the food delicious. My compliments to the chefs! The breakfast was very good - they also offered breakfast at the lounge, but they actually bring the food from the main breakfast, so you’re better off just going down to the regular breakfast room. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a lot of options - Asian, Indian, European, a bit of middle eastern and African. It’s excellent if you have time for a leisurely breakfast, but a bit challenging if you order eggs or noodle soup as it can take some time. The breakfast buffet also got very busy at times, so keep that in mind. The champagne bar / rooftop bar upstairs was fabulous. It seems to be a place to be at night (I was too tired), and I could hear live music! The gym, however, was small and ok equipped. It was also disappointing that they didn’t have a spa. They booked my treatment at a hotel nearby (jancara) and were kind enough to escort me - that spa was just ok. Overall, an excellent hotel and I would definitely recommend it!!

Very disappointing! You do not expect this type of service in a 5 * This is our experience: 1. Since we got out of the taxi, nobody helped us with our luggage. 2. We spent 40 minutes doing the check in. 3. We did not have a previous reservation so when we arrived at the reception we asked their prices, they made a mistake and they gave us the price for one person ... when obviously there were two of us. After clarifying the prices, we asked if we had any discounts for being Marriott members, they told us yes, 20 minutes later we ended up paying without any discount ... 4. Nobody informed us that at 8.30 the kitchen closed therefore there was no possibility of having dinner at the hotel. They close at that time exceptionally due to COVID. 5. We had to order room service ... it took them 1h to bring the food, clearly I explained them not putting peppers in any food because I have an allergy ... they brought the plate full of peppers. 6. We asked everyone in the hotel if it was safe to cross the street to go to the shopping center, so in front of the hotel door there was a group of boys who threatened us, the hotel should put more security on all the doors and take care of the customers. I really have been traveling around the world for 5 years and it has never hurt me so much to pay a hotel night of $ 260, because when you go to a 5 * you expect to have a good experience and unfortunately it was the opposite.

Elegant stay in the city! What a welcome surprise. Wonderful breakfast, exceptional service and large, clean rooms, gated (safe!).

Sankara Hotel is a luxury hotel known for its modern amenities, elegant design, and central location. It's situated in the upscale Westlands neighborhood and offers various amenities such as fine dining restaurants, a rooftop pool, spa services, and well-appointed rooms. The hotel is popular among business travelers and tourists seeking a comfortable and stylish stay in Nairobi. I had a very pleasant stay at the Sankara in Nairobi. I was impressed with the reservations team from the moment I reached out to the moment I arrived. The hotel is spotless, on the smaller side when compared to other chain hotels but well laid out and they had everything I needed for a long and comfortable stay. The room was spacious and had all the necessary comforts. I had access to their executive lounge and it featured an excellent happy hour with excellent food and drink options. The staff at the executive lounge were very attentive and a delight, they were extremely helpful. I interacted the most with Victor and Wahu who were so proactive and attentive always ensuring guests were being taken cared of. Food options at the hotel are fantastic. Their breakfast buffet had food options from many parts of the world and they host a brunch once a month that is out of this world. The hotel is in close proximity to the Sarit shopping center and that has great food options as well. All in all amazing stay and would definitely stay here again!

This was our second year staying at the Sankara and both times it was excellent. The rooms are spacious and the bed comfy. Love the big fluffy towels, dressing gowns and turn down service that also delivers the gorgeous collectible Sankara Seven soapstone animals. The breakfast buffet is incredibly diverse, freshly made, and delicious. The rooftop restaurant produced some delicious dinner dishes as well. Although both were fairly expensive, it is to be expected in a 5 star hotel. Recommend the steak and poke bowl. Staff are all friendly and helpful, with no exceptions. I travel a lot for work, and this hotel really was excellent. See you next year!

I have stayed at many 5-star hotels across the world, but Sankara was special and truly a treat — largely thanks to the staff. The staff were polished, professional, and personable to a level that is difficult to find nowadays. The hotel itself has stunning decor, fantastic showers, and so many practical amenities. We’d like to extend an extra heartfelt thank you to Sharon and Desmond, who made us feel like family. We will absolutely be back and plan to recommend this wonderful hotel to all of our associates going forward.

My go-to place with Marriott in Nairobi, great service, superb lounge and OK upgrades (so far no suite upgrades at titanium levels)

Amazing food. High quality food preparation the express way makes it enjoyable to go to Westlands as before the place was always subject to traffic.

Loved the few days I stayed at this wonderful hotel. Very comfortable rooms with excellent service! I enjoyed the rooftop cocktail bar, gym and swimming pool as well. Location was great—in a very nice Nairobi neighborhood. I would definitely want to stay here again when I return to Kenya.

I arrived at the Sankara after a long journey during which my bag was stolen. The hotel was the perfect antidote for my exhaustion, and was a helpful place to get reorganized and ready for the rest of my journey. From the welcoming and professional service (which begins at the gate and extends to front desk, restaurant, and housekeeping staff) to the comfortable, well-appointed room, I could not have enjoyed the Sankara more. I will definitely be back. Thank you to everyone who helped and made my stay so nice.

I feel like the food quality liis starting to deplete. The spring chicken i took last year was very delicious, well done, perfectly presented and garnished. What i ate there last week was just like any fast food joint chicken. I hated it. But, my blueberries vodka cocktail was perfect as usual. Am i going there again....yes for the drinks and live band only

Had a great time at the sankara hotel. Had a private event held there and it was above expectations. The general Manager Krishna went above and beyond to provide one of the best dining experiences I've had. Food was excellent the 28 day aged steak was to die for. Chef Jeff and his team did an amazing job. Their monthly brunch is Def not one to miss. Amazing hotel conviniently located in the heart of Westlands easy access and 10 minutes from the airport. The rooms are up to date, clean and spacious. Has an amazing rooftop bar with great views. Definitely recommend this hotel next time your in Nairobi or need need a place to grab a drink or a good meal.

This hotel is without a doubt the best place I have ever stayed. The rooms are unmatched by anything else in the country, the staff are accommodating and know me and my friends by name. There are safari animals that roam outside of your rooms like zebra and monkeys. There is plenty to do and the spa has some of the most professional massage therapist in the country. If you are visiting Nanuki this is the location to stay at. If I could rate higher I would.

  • 5/5 Guillermo O. 11 months ago on Google
This is a very nice hotel, good to spend vacations while you are in the safari. The rooms are big enough for two people, something interesting is that the hotel offers water (as all the hotels) in glass bottles, this means that this is not very useful if you want to take water out of the hotel. Every afternoon a person comes to all rooms to ask is something additional is required and they give one of the seven sankara animals, very nice. The gym has all necessary equipment but it is really small and some of the equipment was out of service. The breakfast is really good and the service is also great, congratulations. And finally, close to the hotel you will find many places to eat, a grocery store and other there is a mall next to the hotel, so it is good located.

I attended an event there, the ambience is lovely, the allay at the dinner table was both incredible and mouth watering. The staff were kind and helpful. I only wish the conference halls would be spruced up abit. However, that said, I had a lovely time.

This is an extremely nice business hotel with an abundance of security. The surrounding area has a lot of security generally and we felt quite safe walking to Fogo Gaucho for dinner, Cold Stone Creamery for dessert, and shopping at Sarit Centre and Westgate Mall. The hotel is very service-oriented, secure, and well located. We'd definitely stay here again.

Sadly Sankara Nairobi has adopted the drop the quality increase the price business. Once my favorite hotel in Kenya its business ethics and quality drop mean my recent trip was my last. That said the location is excellent and junior staff excellent. For a 5 star property the rooms are tired, facilities minimal (undersized under equipped gym very small pool). At the recent price quoted of USD 389 for a night despite having a contract rate of much lower there are better options close by. For Bonvoy Elite expect very little from this property the good news is a Mariott will open close by very soon. Hopefully this competition will have Sankara invest and regain its former glory.

Great hotel. The chefs went out of their way to prepare me vegan meals. The staff are super friendly. I will consider it the next time I come to Nairobi.

Service above and beyond as is normal here. Rooms are huge with all amenities. I had breakfast included and the breakfast spread had everything you could imagine. After a long day of travel decided to eat at the bar and watch football. Maeve served me that evening and she went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable and dealt with some of the challenges I had that evening with the meal (my fault not the restaurant mind you). She was excellent and was such a great representative for the hotel. Will be back - my favorite in Nairobi when staying in Westlands for client business

Magic brunch, food was magic, waitress was magic and this is were the magic stopped. Stuff up with booking so 7 people in space of 4 with baby stroller after we asked 3times if it was baby friendly. Rest of customers were all seated in luxury, not sure if one need to make friend with management because he was showing some customers around.

The beds were comfortable but not sure if there was an issue with the water or bathtub as I tried to run a bath and the water was yellow and the staff stated they'd have to check it.

The hotel has a great location. However, the rooms are dated and need an upgrade. For the high prices charged, the hotel should give more drinking water as well as more in room tea/coffee options (there was no herbal tea, just one variety of regular tea, and only one coffee packet was given a day).

A must visit if you are a lover of the finest things life has to offer. The rooftop swimming pool and restaurant is simply amazing, top notch. The glass floors from which you could see all the way to the ground floor.. 👍

Great 5* star Hotel with beautiful design. Rooms and public Areas very clean and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet was very good. A must try is their steakhouse - great service and fantastic food! Very centrally located, 5 min walking distance to street Markets, a good shopping mall. As Marriott Bonvoy Member at Ambassador Elite Level my family and me had access to the Lounge of the Hotel. Also here the offer and quality of food and drinks was very good.

We had an excellent 9 night stay at the Sankara. The staff were all incredibly friendly and courteous and made our stay memorable. The rooms are modern and furnished to the highest standards. The bathroom is one of the best I have seen in any hotel, with a separate bath and shower as well as a light up shaving mirror. The head chef Jeff is incredible and I highly recommend visiting some of the restaurants in the hotel. The gym is well equipped with areas to squat bench and deadlift. The pool has a glass bottom at the end which is unique and looks out onto the city. The only negative point I can give is that the sauna and steam rooms are not in operation constantly and even when we asked for them to be turned on only the sauna was turned on and not the steam room. I think if they had consistent and clear operation times for these it would be a better system. The location of the hotel is excellent and close by to multiple shopping centres and food outlets. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and we would return

This hotel is lovely and felt very safe, clean etc. I write this review, however, to compliment the amazing staff— Especially Jeremiah at the rooftop bar! He was so attentive and tried to teach my husband and I some common Swahili phrases. Excellent service from everyone on the team.

Great service and food. Shout out to BRIAN from artisan restaurant for the excellent experience and service all through he was present anytime we needed assistance and good recommendations on cocktails. The Sunday brunch was a pleasant experience worth doing again. Will definitely be back!

I attended the monthly brunch and it was amazing. The spread is to die for! They had 2 different rooms of desserts ( you can tell I am a sweet tooth) . They had every food imaginable, and what I had was delicious 😋. I had the sushi, ravioli ,prawns, clamps, muscles and lobster 🦞. There is something for everyone. I would however suggest bringing children above the age of 13 who can enjoy the band and not get bored. Found it boring for the younger ones. There are bottomless mimosas, champagne, local beers and gin.

A solid option for accommodation, rooms have everything you need along with good workspace if it's business travel. The breakfast, gym and rooftop area are all good additions to the trip. The restaurant on site for dinner wasn't great but there are other options in Nairobi . Staff were friendly and security felt well put together at the hotel.

I took my family for the Mother's day brunch and I was blown away by the elaborate buffet. We were served by an amazing lady called Wendy but I think at the end of the day, the food was what we loved. Each dish was done so well. I can honestly say it was money well spent and I would recommend that you try out their dishes. Big thanks to the Kitchen team for the wonderful meal.

Love the Sankara! Such a gorgeous hotel with beautiful interiors. My favourite part is all the different spots to dine! While there we had drinks at the balcony, lunch at the all day dinning restaurant and dessert at the bakery all on the 1st floor. It felt like we had 3 different dates all in a single afternoon! Loved it! 10/10 would recommend.

Had an extended stay here and would highly recommend. Easily the best place I’ve stayed while traveling. It was safe and secure, and the staff made the stay phenomenal. Super friendly and helpful staff in every area I encountered, from desk, room service, security, and housekeeping; they all were pleasant, helpful, and created a great stay-environment.

An amazing place to dine, relax & enjoy your holiday, business trip or family time. Amazing views of the busy Nairobi city at night especially from the top floors. Noisy during the day because of its location untill 9pm when you can relax en get some good sleep

  • 5/5 Brenton S. L. 1 year ago on Google
Actually a very nice hotel with wonderful staff, good breakfast. Terrace bar is a bit on the spendy side compared to quality and can be very noisy in the weekend with music too loud to dialogue with service. Also it's accessible to non guests which undermines the safety and selection one would expect. Braze steakhouse is far from expectations.

5 star ⭐ hotel. The level of service is unparalleled. Warm, friendly, attentive staff. Soloman went above and beyond to give us a most hospitable experience. If this is your first time in Nairobi, this is the place to stay. Robust security systems in place to keep you secured within the compound. Excursions and vetted drivers accessed by the hotel for your benefit. Exceptional breakfast buffet. Immense attention to detail from the food to decor. Highly recommend!
