Halal chinese in Brookside area happened to be close to where we stayed in Nairobi. Our major concern was finding halal food. The restaurant was clean and located and built in a nice place. Food wasn't exactly chinese but it was fresh and halal. The server went the extra mile to put our mind at ease by letting us talk to the Muslim owner on the phone. Our order was spring roles,garlic noodles and chicken with veggies. Service was good and food wasn't expensive.

Food is very bland. It doesn’t really taste like Chinese food. Ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and Fried rice. Very disappointed. If it was 400-500/- per portion, I wouldn’t be writing this review. 950/- for a portion of Kung Pao chicken, and 700 for a portion of fried rice is super overpriced for the quality of food and ambiance. It’s an open container covered with galvanized sheets all round. No wonder all the tables were empty at lunch.

Most Chinese meals are predictable. This one was predictably unappealing visually as well as taste & temperature. Strange undertone as well - almost soapy detergent from poorly washed woks. Not TastyWok as the name suggests In response to the owner……. My review is from the Regal Plaza experience. I see you’ve relocated - congratulations & best of luck. I’ll pop in, try your new venue & drop another review if appropriate. However, as a side cautionary note please refrain from using words such as ‘pathetic’ for paying customers such as myself. Times are hard & we’re trying to support local eateries (of which there are many)
