It was just amazing place with such historical record. However, it is neither well known to the locals, nor carrying any importance! Abandoned and damaged. It has high capability to become a tourist spot in Narayanganj if looked upon properly.

Hajiganj Fort is situated on the western bank of the Sitalakkhya River at Hajiganj in Narayanganj district. This fort was established by the Mughal Governor Mir Jumla during seventeenth century to ward off frequent raids on Dhaka and surroundings by the strong pirate forces of Maghs and Portuguese. The fort, quadrangular in size, consists of a pentagonal curtain wall machicolated for muskets with rounded corner bastions, rampart wall around the wall inside, a free tall square column in a corner, and a gateway towards the river. The fort, quadrangular in size, consists of a pentagonal curtain wall machicolated for muskets with rounded corner bastions. On the inner side of the curtain wall there is a 1.22 m high rampart walkway from the base of the curtain wall which is itself pierced by several musketry holes. The holes are wider meant probably for 'gun firing at the pirates proceeding up the river'. In a corner of the fort enclosure there is a tall free standing square column of brick which must have been used for observation and placing guns in the rainy season.

So, this fort is around 300 years old as far as I know. This fort has seen many tough days. But the renewal of this this in on going. Recently city corporation made a new road attached to the fort for visiting the fort. But still the condition of the fort is not very well. After sunset the fort area is not a safe place to travel. There's risk of burglars and marauders. So it's safe to go there on a day and go with a group if you are new to the city Narayanganj. Overall, the fort carriers a huge part of our history. Tourism to place at high capacity might bring this piece of history back to it's glory days.

Hajiganj Fort, also known as Khizirpur Fort, is a water fort constructed during the Mughal period. Situated on the west bank of the Shitalakshya River in the Hajiganj area of Narayanganj district, Bangladesh, it is one of the three water forts erected before the seventeenth century to safeguard Dhaka city. Presumably built shortly after the establishment of the Mughal capital in Dhaka by Islam Khan, the fort aimed to defend against potential attacks by Mughal and Portuguese pirates along the river. Located 14.68 km from the capital Dhaka, the fort is now an ancient monument meticulously preserved under the Archaeology Department of the government. Entrance to the fort is free of charge.

Hajiganj Fort 09/09/2022 We left by bike at 7:00 am to visit the sights of Narayanganj from Mirpur 2 of Dhaka. We reached Hajiganj fort at approximately 8:15 am. We reached here without any difficulty following the Google map directions. It is open to public. We left the bike next to the fort and entered through the main gate. There is a field in the middle of Hajiganj fort which is now used as a playground for the locals. We saw the locals playing cricket inside the field. But they help us to explore. A heritage that describes the value of city of Narayanganj. This thing presents the value of Narayanganj city started back in hundreds of years ago. In our country there's only 3 remaining Highly fortified Mughal Water Forts. And two of them are still standing high in Narayanganj. Makes me always wonder what kind of importance was Narayanganj holding That it needed two massive forts !!!

Just an ancient fort with no maintenance which is barely surviving. Now people use it as a playground and there's trash everywhere. The entrance road is narrow yet wide enough beside the fort for parking your car.

This is an excellent place. If you want to visit here, you should come here in daylight. There is a possibility of robbery here after evening.
