My heart goes out to the folks who took on the resurrection of the Royal. In these difficult times, inside a bar is just not where most people want to be. This was the first time that I have been to a live music event since Covid, and I must say that the Royal did a great job, given the circumstances. Sign in sheets for contact tracing won't help to prevent infections, but as a reminder it is excellent (which can help with prevention). The tables are positioned far apart and cannot be moved, there are separate entrances and exits, and bathroom doors stay open. There is also a fairly large outdoor patio area. The food looked okay, I had fries with parmesan cheese and rosemary and it was big enough to share. There are good BC wine choices and I really like that. The staff was attentive and efficient. The sound was better than the previous incarnation, but the sound person was also working on the floor. All in all a positive experience delivered as professionally as possible.

This place was awesome! Hands down best spot in Nelson. The food was awesome, staff was super friendly and there was a great band playing while we were in town. We ended up eating here 4 times in 5 days. Highly recommend!

An absolutely legendary room in the Kootenays with the best ownership group of the past 2 decades at the helm. I was here for pints the other day hanging out on Baker St. Always a stellar selection of Craft Beer and great service. Cant recommend it enough! Check the website for live events, there something on almost every single night.

Nelson is so fortunate to have The Royal! Hands down the best live music venue in town. We are truly blessed for all of the live music and the variety of entertainment that they bring to town! Cozy, vibrant environment, great selection of beer, and delicious food for a reasonable price! The fried chicken is hands down one of my favorite dishes in town πŸ™ŒπŸ«ΆπŸ‘

Haven't ate there in many years and wow am I glad I did. Sweet and spicy Korean fried chicken was incredible. Parmesan fries and dip outstanding. Service was fast and is the only place I've ever had take out in years that had everything in the bag you might need... cutlery, napkins, ketchup, the dip. Outstanding job guys. Price was decent too for how large the portion was. Will definitely be back.

Popped in for a quick drink before dinner reservations at Marzano's - great options and atmosphere. Orange dream machine mocktail was sweet with orange and coconut flavour. Googled coconilla and I'm still not exactly sure how it factored in to the drink, but tasty nonetheless. Love the decor and seating arrangements, and always plenty of events planned.

The Royal is one of my favourite places to go in Nelson! They have delicious cocktails and a great happy hour. The food is delicious as the chef really puts time and effort into creating beautiful and tasty dishes. A go-to for a fantastic chicken and waffles or the deep fried brie! Awesome servers and staff there. I love how supportive they are of the local community as well. The variety of music they bring in is unmatched. Plus they occasionally have markets with local vendors. You can't go wrong sitting having a drink and a bite inside or on their beautiful patio!

Service was nice, a little bit too loud for me but that is personal. Also the staff was kind and when I asked to turn down the music, they did. The food tho... So expensive and honestly, it was bad. I had the macaroni. I mean it's hard to mess up macaroni. They managed. It tasted like chemicals. The fries were the only good thing. Yes I ate fries with macaroni, and glad I did. Or i would not have eaten at all.

Had the greatest time at their anniversary party this year and gave their burger month burger a try. Great musical artists as well. Already pre purchased our tickets for the Neil Young tribute this Friday πŸ’ͺ

Brown ale and the Nashville spicy chicken with sweet potato fries and apple coleslaw. their amazing chicken was pleasantly hot but layered baked on flavouring with an Asian chili sauce that's crisped has so many layers of flavour that it was awesome. Service was friendly and just the right level of attention

The Royal is back! Amazing new food menu, bright, vibrant space, and probably the best tap list I have seen in the Kootenays. Went for a show and was blown away by the sound quality. Stoked to have this place back on the map.

Fantastic spot for drinks and live music - the whole team at the Royal did an amazing job with the update, the place is super clean and bright, sound is great throughout the space and they've been doing an awesome job of bringing in a huge variety of local music. Great beer selection with fair prices and regulary changing options, and a nice simple food/appy menu with an effort to source local ingredients! Old school video games in one corner, a proper pool table, some different corner booths to relax with friends, proper stage/dancefloor, great use of this awesome heritage building. Really positive place to spend a night, you can feel how much the new owners care about it and how happy all the staff are, everyone i've met here has been having a great time, really cannot recommend it enough, 10/10!

The "Would Crush" beer was outta this world , 10/10 would crush over and over and over. The crushable burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a restaurant taste wise and price point( And I am an avid burger lover) The deep fried Brie was da bomb! Really dig this place πŸ‘Œ

Best live music venue in town! Great spot to sit on the patio in the summer with your dog and have a beer. The new owners are awesome people and a good addition to Nelson!

🫀 I gave this a 2 instead of 5 for dinner only because we were told that we had to vacate our table after having dinner and drinks as the table was reserved for another group. This was only after being seated for 90 minutes. A 90 minute turnover is unreasonable...if the table had a limited sitting t...

😐 A unique shopping experience with a good selection of goods. But bring lots of $$$ as it's easily the most expensive grocery store in the area. Lots of overpriced merchandise for those with piles of disposable income.
