😠 Gross gross gross. Dirtiest gym I’ve ever been to. Constantly smells. I’ve had to leave a workout early before because I couldn’t stomach the smell of the gym. It’s obvious it isn’t cleaned regularly. The equipment sucks. There is no floor area to stretch or do floor exercises. 10/10 don’t recommend People often mention location, machines, equipment, clean, staff, space, time, people, weights, Planet,

Generally does the job and if you're on a budget it's your best option. However this location (W55th St) definitely does not use its space optimally. The weights (by far the most used equipment here) are poorly laid out and always crowded. 1/2 of the entire gym is filled with cardio machines that are never that busy. They could easily cut some of that square footage and ease the weights crowding. The "express" area is a mess and needs a desperate update - could be a whole other lifting zone and instead it's just barely used with weird machines no one wants. Also have to mention the promo they are doing this summer where kids 14-19 work out for free for 3 months. It has made an already crowded gym even more difficult. There are packs of teenagers standing around all the time hovering and while I get the idea and it's nice the location does not have the capacity for this. Essentially those of us who are paying are now enjoying a worse, more crowded experience because of people who are using the gym for free. Because of this summer promo specifically, the lack of equipment, and poor, inefficient layout I have started exploring alternatives. What good is a cheap gym if you can barely get your workout in?

I have met so many wonderful people at this gym. I usually come in the morning, so it's spacious and clean. Staff is very courteous and attentive. Monthly fee is very manageable for those looking for a gym on a tight budget. Loving this gym!

Everything is on one level if you like that. It is inside of another building so the entrance is not immediately apparent. It is in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen so not a surprise there are plenty of LGBT clientele but also means a sizable number of female clientele. There are some peculiarities with this location. The locker room is kept super frigid, not sure why. The stretching room is slightly creepy because it is so dark in there. It is uber hard to get on a Smith machine here. Both my friend and I were at this gym for two hours and could not get on either of the two there. The equipment is a bit cramped into a section of the space. And the selection is not as extensive as the others.

I have been a member here for a long time, and I have to agree with the reviews on here regarding space allocation. I have yet to enter the weights area because I find it intimidating how cramped it is. I want a little bit of space to myself, and it is just way too cramped with the equipment. I recently went in the app to make an appointment with a trainer to make a plan. I booked the open slot and dragged myself out of bed to get there for the 7am time slot. I arrive to be told that this PF’s trainer “quit last week” and they “have no trainer right now”. Are you serious?!? I asked the guy at the front desk why these slots are still available for people to book and he said they “must not have been removed yet”. Well, obviously. He could not tell me when they’d have a new trainer or how I’d be informed as to when they got a new one. This was pretty infuriating. Last I checked, these slots are still available for people to book, but nobody is actually running these classes. This is incredibly frustrating because those classes are a part of what I pay for in my membership, but they are not truly currently available! Additionally, I agree on the women’s restroom - it needs some more attention, ASAP. I also think a map of the gym and what and where each piece of equipment is would be useful. I know there are instructions and explanations on each piece of equipment, but having some sort of map with explanations would allow you to better plan out your time at the gym…instead of checking out each piece of equipment individually while people are crowding the area using other equipment around you. If I don’t start to see some changes here soon, I may start traveling farther to the other PF locations that are spoken of more highly on the reviews here.

I’ve traveled to a lot of PF locations across the country and this is easily the worst one I’ve been to. The usage of the square footage in the space alone is horrendous. The weights and stretching areas are way too small with way too few benches, while there are like a million treadmills that I’ve never seen anywhere close to half of them being used at once. The black card amenities are present but are the most sparse and least inviting compared those I’ve seen at other locations. The bathrooms are very cramped and smelly. However, in Manhattan, where space is at an all-time premium, this is all to be expected. It’s better going here than not going to a gym at all.

I have been a member for over 2 years and was a member of its predecessor club. The gym is about 15 years old and is generally maintained well. Also, with such a low monthly fee,you can expect the club to be packed during peak hours. As a gym, I would give it 4 stars but be prepared to encounter some rude members who take up 3 machines at the same time and the staff cannot do anything about it My issue is with management making unauthorized charges tomy credit card, calling them up and/or stopping in,to speak to a manager, who seems to be the only one who can adjust these. As you might guess, if the message isnt about joining the gym the manager is somehow always busy or has left for the day. Unfortunately, the only way to deal with this issue is to contact my credit card company and have these unauthorized charges cancelled - which sometimes results in my card being cancelled and going thru the hassle of getting a new one, all because management cant be bothered correcting fake charges

The club fullness crowd meter on the pfitness app does not get updated. Tonight it said half full so I got ready and went and when I got there it was full with 3 people waiting on sidewalk for one out one in. They told me I should call ahead to find out fullness. Either update the app or take out the fake feature.

First of all, we have been robbed multiple times in the locker room at this location. Then, after moving away, we canceled our Planet Fitness membership. My husband called first, and they immediately canceled his membership, no questions asked. Then, I called and spoke to the manager Melody, and she said it is against policy to cancel over the phone and that I needed to send a certified letter with a request to cancel. When I asked her why they did it over the phone for my husband, Melody said “that was a courtesy.” I asked her why I couldn’t have the same courtesy. She said she only does it on a case-by-case basis. I called another gym, who apologized for Melody’s laziness and rudeness and transferred my account to their location and then was happy to cancel it for me.

I have been to many gyms and regularly communicate with managers of various businesses, but Melody, the manager here, has to be the most discourteous manager I have ever met. Very haughty and looks down her nose at you. Does not know how to communicate well or in a friendly manner with customers. Despite my love for this particular location, her attitude and presence makes it so that I will not be returning and will be making sure to make it known to others.

Can't argue with the price of the gym. That's the only positive really. The restroom smells so bad that you need a gas mask just to fetch your clothes. No clue what people do in the toilet to get it to smell that horrific. Equipment is broken intermittently at out of use. The weights area is frankly too small and therefore unusable. I've tried arriving at 5am, middle of day, late at night and it's never not rammed. Comparatively they have a ridiculously large treadmill space, which only 5 people seem to use. Men dominate 4 machines for one workout and nobody seems to implement anything to stop them from essentially dominating an entire space. Talk about entitled. I've given up thinking I'll get a decent workout. This is what it is a cheap gym. Whilst I have so much appreciation for low costs it's no longer worth the small fee.

I've been to a lot of planet fitness, but this Planet Fitness location has its merits. In short, it falls short in several aspects. The layout feels cramped, with equipment placed too closely together, hindering movement, especially during peak hours. The overcrowding often makes it challenging to find space to rerack weights, contributing to a cluttered and disorganized environment. Additionally, cleanliness can be an issue, as some gym-goers, especially seniors (no hate), neglect to tidy up after using equipments, resulting in unpleasant odors. From time to time I actually have to skip a few workouts just because of those puddle of sweat on them benches. I don't like doing that I tell you. Ruins my day. However, I do notice that the staff members are consistently friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. In summary, get your money up.

Signed up some time ago because it was in the building where I worked. Obviously, all circumstances have changed with the pandemic. So, time to cancel. No, there is no contract, but no, you *cannot cancel your membership* unless: 1) you go, in person, to a place where you probably don't live or work anymore or 2) you go wait in line at a post office to send a certified letter by mail. This is an obviously and outrageously predatory business practice, and it's pathetic that this is how Planet Fitness makes their money. Avoid.

Love coming here and it is very clean in my opinion. HOWEVER smells like complete sweat because there are no fans and they keep the temperature at like 78 degrees. It feels like hot yoga in there…

Clean and professional. The problem is there’s about one million treadmills and a sliver of the gym designated for lifting. Normally able to find open equipment at any Planet Fitness (even the one on 35), but everything is always occupied here. Shame to see how a generous amount of space is poorly allocated.

I’m giving 5 stars for the staff. Always nice and friendly. They also always clean down the equipment. I wanted give 1 star because of the homeless and crackheads that use the showers and bathrooms. It’s getting worse and worse. I just joined a private gym and leaving this place. Thank you to all the amazing staff! I’m sad to leave after six years

Not worth the money you’re saving by not going to a better gym. It is never not busy and there very limited space and equipment so it is very difficult to do anything other than use a treadmill. I’ve tried going late, early, doesn’t matter. The staff is great, but the people who go to this gym to work out have zero self-awareness. Will be canceling very soon.

Cheap for Manhattan is the only positive. Half the machines are broken, and it takes anywhere from 6-12 weeks to fix them. There are often times no paper towels to clean the machines off after use. It’s hot and gets very crowded in the evenings (again it’s the cheapest option for the neighborhood, so this makes sense). The locker rooms often smell and are very dungeon feeling. Every other planet fitness I’ve been to is better than this one

I do not understand the point of customer service if they cannot cancel my membership. Moved across the country to find work and the only options are to go in person or send a handwritten letter. I do not understand what century they live in. I do not understand the purpose of a manager.

They need more bars. Only two and people sit there and don’t use the press. This design is amateur and needs more free weights. People are clueless here and don’t know proper rules at all. They use their phone more than the weights.

Extremely disappointed. Being a member since opening of this location. Due to change of business hours of this location and all other locations in Manhattan with no announcement . I am not able to keep my black card membership and end of next month I will be canceling. I have two jobs and Do not finish work until 9 PM. My work out and planet fitness has always been place to meditate and release the stress of my day. Group members of this club going to do the same thing to send a message. I do not recommend this establishment to any new members and encourage all current members to cancel their membership

Came here with some friends recently. Quiet workout and nice machines. Clean for the most part but dirty and smelly restrooms. The manager (who we didn’t even know was the manager until later because she couldn’t be bothered to introduce herself) was unprofessional and unfriendly. Only good thing about this gym was the nice staff and convenient location.

Be ready to wait in line for at least 45 minutes (that’s how long it took me) because their crowd meter is NOT working. What load of bs that was to begin with. We all knew they won’t be able to run that properly. Btw they might not know how to run the crowd meter but knew sure knew to charge me my fee this morning lol. Like why do you charge me without even asking mw if I will be coming back to the gym, plus why do you charge me if I can’t even get in? Losers.

I won't be joining as i see many ppl get stuff stolen here on reviews (also its word on the street) The 'response' here from 'owner' is to contact the gym. If you're the owner responding, why arn't YOU not telling your gym management about this yourself instead of telling ur customers to contact them. You clearly see there are issues and cleanliness problems. Why can't you say you'll fix it. Also, the 'owner' never says they'll do better / fix the problems.

Love this gym and it's location. Usually somewhat busy but not overly crowded. Clean, good female locker room, treadmills & other cardio machines face huge windows so you're not working out in fake/yellow indoor lighting or a basement.

The place is a zoo. Unfortunately the front desk personnel cannot control them. Everybody takes control of 2 sets of dumbells and maybe more and holds on to them so that nobody else can alternate using them. Weights are not re-racked and they can be found elsewhere. Even after the recent renovation, there are too few weights especially the 5-30 Lbs ones. They should have kept the ones they discard them as the gym is always crowded and the people who go there do not care about re-racking them. Bad attitude by most of the clients there who treat it as their personal private workout space and not one that is being shared by others too. Total contrast with all the other PF locations in manhattan (with the notable exception of the Harlem 125 street which is the same bad situation). Renovation: Yes they brought in new equipment but they got rid of others that were perfectly usable and could have alleviated the congestion or waiting for machines. They did nothing about the uneven floor in front of the weights. Thats very dangerous from somebody who is not used to it. Basically, i cannot do the workout i want when i go there as machines and weights i have to use are not being available. I rarely go there and only when i am in the area. The 1 star is more about the people who use the gym and of course the management than for the personnel who are trying to cope with them or are indifferent to the situation.

It's clean, large and ridiculously cheap. There are two issues:1} the equipment distribution makes little sense. There's a hundred bikes no one uses and four stair masters which are constantly in demand. There's a single butterfly press so there's truly always a wait. 2) I go largely for the stair masters and in a year of going there might have been one time they were all working. At the time of this writing there's 1 working. Sometimes the broken ones remain broken for months.

Dirtiest, smelliest, and the most unfriendly PF location I have been to. Bad management and customer service. Been here at least 10 times and not once could I use the restroom because it was so filthy. Staff evidently aren't trained well and always seem so unhappy to be there. 0 stars if I could. Equipment is fine for what I need though.

Large and pleasant space, good location, but unfortunately they do not have any instructor to support, I only see people doing exercises wrong, not knowing how to use the machines and no staff who can teach and help, it was the first day and I definitely didn't even know what to do , I must first go to university to study physical conditioning to know what machine to use and what muscle to work

Horrible membership experience, I have cancelled months ago and they keep billing and claim to have "lost" the documentation of my cancelled membership despite the fact that I keep sending it over. I am appalled at the unprofessional and unorganized billing department that keeps hounding me 8 months after I cancelled. Not only that, they are supposed to charge a one-time annual fee but they instead have charged this amount on 4 separate occasions. I have called many, many times and the people answering the phone always say there is nothing they can do to help refund me. I have tried filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau but they have not yet responded to these either.

Been coming here for years and like the gym a lot. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. However, with covid safety there is lacking on getting people to wear masks. Once in a while I see a staff member or two asking people to wear mask correctly but for the most part staff doesn't walk around often enough. As soon as staff walk away the offending person puts their mask below their chin again. Even staff are wearing masks below their noses while at front desk.

It’s not that great of a location. Regulars that come here are not particularly friendly at all. I’ve been ‘body checked’ a few times and there are a lot of wandering eyes that constantly stare. I like to keep to myself and I usually try to go off into a corner and do my own thing, but that still is not effective at times. The equipment is a bit outdated and it is very cramped because of limited space. It’s a convenient location and there are a lot of showers and bathrooms, but I constantly feel harassed and alienated and when my 90 days is up i’ll transfer to another location and come here only when I have to. Staff is friendly and helpful and that is literally the one major redeeming quality, but the members are very cliquish and not particularly kind to outsiders.

Not as tightly run as other planet fitnesses. Usually when i walk into a planet fitness there are paper towel/spray bottle stations loaded with supplies everywhere i turn. This location has less, and they are often low on supplies stocked and with less spray bottles than I'm accustomed to. Second negative is that this gym is big for NYC but the layout is poorly thought through, only a portion of the possible planet fitness machines are there. This franchise seems to prefer to offer the minimum instead of the overkill of choices and cleanliness I'm used to.

I would like to suggest this location looking into servicing the broken treadmill machines, cleaning the Women’s bathroom more frequently, fixing the broken toilets and bathroom stalls, keeping the paper towel machine in better working condition, and increasing the machine chairs from 5 mins to 10 mins. Especially, when there is no on waiting for the massage chairs and the gym is not busy.

Place is not cleaned regularly and is apparent. This needs to occur on a regular schedule; equipment, bathrooms, floors etc... The locker rooms are also not safe. There was another incident this week. Police officers taking a police report - but PF employees do not verify it's another theft. Why not be transparent with your members and their safety,, along with belongings? You can't just post another sign saying be safe and not take more appropriate measures.

Honestly, this is my personal favorite planet fitness compared to any of the others I've been too and I've been going here for the past year with my good friend 4 days a week. THE ONLY, flaw in this gym is that starting next week they will no longer be 24 hours which destroys everything because me and my friend can only workout after midnight. Hopefully these new hours don't last because unfortunately we have to find a different gym location. This is the best location out of the the others which makes it worse.

Great customer service for a PF, that's for sure! Gym is very clean and layed out nicely. Its also in a great area, an expensive one where you would never find a gym at this low price, even with the premium black card membership, which I have and love. Only complaint, is the locker rooms are kind of small, other than that, it’s a fabulous gym!

Edited review: 1 star. This location was my favorite, but, just like other Manhattan locations, has suddenly stopped any 24-hr operation. It was bad enough that Planet Fitness called this a 24-hr location (even though Fri, Sat and Sun they closed at 10 pm and 7 pm weekends) when it was not. Now, without notice, reason or apology, they decide to close at 11pm Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs. Currently, there is NOT one single Planet Fitness in NYC that is 24-hrs any more while surrounding states and smaller cities still have many 24-hr locations. Planet Fitness advertises it's a 24-hour gym. Don't believe them. False advertising! It's total BS! I decided to join PF because it is/was a 24 hr gym. I pay the black card rate so i can go to any gym that is convenient. Looking to cancel membership and find another gym altogether. Original review: 4 stars Probably one of the better planet fitness locations I've been to.The equipment is in good condition the space itself is pretty large and locker rooms are (somewhat) clean. It's open 24 hours Monday through Thursday. Friday Saturday Sunday it opens at 6 am and closes at 7:30pm.

Very crowded, but that’s not completely their fault, so I’m not really basing much of my score off of that. But very hot, humid, and smelly. And it makes it a very difficult environment to work out in when you do manage to get your chance at the equipment you’re looking for. I guess I’m hoping they will find another location nearby to open another gym and fix the air circulation problem here at this location.

I went to the gym at night July 28th around 9:30pm I go to the front desk and the female worker is talking on her cellphone/AirPods .she sees us standing there and still goes on talking until she finally gives one the time of the day .I asked about the the hydro bed which she rudely replied that’s it wasn’t working then we went ahead and took the massage chair . The gym itself isn’r bad cleanest I seen in nyc ,but I’m going to give it a low score because of that night female worker you had Friday . She needs training on customer service and to be told to get off her damn phone if ppl approach.her attitude needs fixing

Omg this place is horrific. It smells like a place with moldy water damage. The air conditioner barely works and seems to be adding humidity to the air. I started sweating before i was working out. Also the floor isnt properly carpeted so when soneone drops a weight it reverberates throughout the gum. The mens bathroom was a nightmare. I would walk to a far away planet fitness before i ever dare go back .

Well-maintained, spacious facility with plenty of newer equipment for cardio and strength training, massage chairs, clean locker room, etc. Briefly tried a local gym within walking distance from home that ended up costing a lot more for minimally maintained facilities, less convenient hours and older equipment. Glad to be back at PF. It's a few subway stops away but the tradeoff has been worth it.

It's a bit lacking in terms of free weights but the machines are good. Also, the are are a LOT of cardio machines, which is good for hamsters.

I am so impressed with the quality service that this fitness gym is offering. They have clean and wide space, plus the types of exercising equipment here are operating well. The staffs are very nice and the membership is much cheaper compared to other ones. I love the refreshing ambiance of this place that makes me feel so relaxed every after my workout. I've told my sister about this gym and she was really happy when she first got here and couldn't wait to be here again.

The equipment is much newer than the other PFs in the city, and it feels very nice. I like that they have separate sections for things, like stretching and abs has its own section, the cable things have a separate section, and of course the free weights and cardio have their respective sections. The staff has always been very helpful when I’ve had issues or questions and they are enforcing covid regulations which is so important. You have to sign in when you check in and the machines are separated to enforce social distancing. The locker rooms are also very spacious and nice. It’s definitely become my favorite location!

I recently had my locker broken into and money taken out of my wallet while I was in the shower. I kept my stuff with me on the gym floor but when it came time to shower I put my stuff In a locker, and locked it with my master lock. 3 minutes later I catch a guy fiddling with it saying it was open and me being in a towel I rush towards my locker and he ran. The management has yet to contact me about the issue and it’s seems they don’t care.

So far so good! Moved into the city not too long ago and this is my neighborhood Planet Fitness. It has everything you need. Wish there were more weights, but it's got a lot for you to do while you wait for a bench to open up (there's only 5-6).

This location is convenient and pretty well-equipped, but like a sauna in fall/winter as the building controls the gym heat and there are no fans for air circulation. It’s a sweat box at this location and a deterrent for a good workout. They need to invest in fans at the very least.

The person that registered me wrote down the wrong bank account information and as a result I have been getting charged TWO TIMES more than what I should be paying. It is such a careless mistake on an employee’s part that as a customer I have to PAY for which is extremely UNFORTUNATE. Employees at this facility should be BETTER TRAINED to be “detail oriented”. It’s a basic work skill needed at any place of employment. I have called several times to speak to a manager SINCE NOVEMBER - mind you TWO MONTHS LATER AND MY PROBLEM STILL HASNT BEEN RESOLVED. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau because at this point if the Manager Ryan cannot help me (which why are you here in the first place?) then maybe the Bureau can. Highly disappointed in not just the money lost but time expense that I have needed to make (which I really don’t have much of to begin with) all because of a careless employee. I’ve honestly never felt more disappointed and dissatisfied with an organization before. Don’t even bother with this place seriously. There are such a finite number of machines, dumbbells and barbells, it’s really a gym for those that like to run on the treadmill... The space to stretch and warm up is so tight and the lights are so dim. I really truly do not like this gym. The bathrooms and lockers are filthy, I try to avoid using the toilets/sinks, but lockers I can’t. You get what you pay for honestly. But in my case, I’m paying more than I should for mediocre service (employees and facility), THAT’S what’s frustrating. If I didn’t make it clear already, poor customer service, poor facility. Take that $10/$20 and go to Crunch on 57th. I’ve visited a few times and it is MUCH better.

FINALLY!!! This gym has staff that smiles and are people friendly. I decided since I couldn’t sleep to go to the gym at 5am on a Wednesday morning. The gentleman that were working that morning were very pleasant and kind. Unlike the day staff that never smiles and have the nastiest attitude. The gym is clean, although one of the smaller planet fitness , however I always felt as though the staff look bored and tried and never smile. When staff were asked any questions they always seemed, annoyed. They do their job the gym is clean, well put together everything is in place and machines are clean. Bathroom are clean as well. This was first time walking in and being greeted with a smile. That was the only thing missing. Good job !!!

No complaints! This is my favorite/preferred gym and the black card benefits totally come in handy and enhance the experience. I'd recommend coming in the evenings or anytime before 3, because being that it's a location in lower Manhattan it can get crowded sometimes. Gym-goers and staff alike are friendly and aren't out to make you uncomfortable. It's a gym, after all, the only progress that really matters is yours however long it takes you to achieve that. Place is usually clean and people are always on point when it comes to wiping down a machine they've just finished using. I've really never had any negative experiences here and don't anticipate that changing in the future.

The only PF gym giving one token for massage chair. One evening I asked for the second token, the staff told me that he ran out of tokens. It means Nobody can use the massage chair anymore. Does he ran out of tokens or he doesn’t want to give me another one ?I emailed the manager about this but I didn’t get any reply. Some of the staff are giving a second token. It’s like you have to beg for 2 tokens ,I’ve visited some Pf gym and they are giving 2 tokens right away for the massage chair.

Clean, really nice. The customers place the weights back properly, everyone stays to themselves, noone hogs the machines, and people respect your personal space here. It may be built to prevent people from coming because its hard to find. But I am glad I did.

  • 4/5 Arily R. 2 years ago on Google
Had a great "walk" on the treadmill. When it was time to wipe down the machine after I was done the paper dispenser was empty and I had to walk a little further to another dispenser which is not a big deal but worth mentioning.

  • 4/5 taylor r. 1 year ago on Google
The gym is good for what you pay, but the lack of squat racks is really limiting (there aren’t even free floating bars so you could deadlift in another area). Additionally, it’s really hard to find space to lift near the weight racks. Considering switching gyms now that I’ve come to a point in my training where I really want to build leg muscle.

  • 2/5 Blah B. 1 year ago on Google
I usually go to another location but today I decided to try this one out. The ladies bathroom is GROSS. The toilets don’t even work. The rows between the lockers are tiny and cramped. The stretching area is so dark and gives me the creeps. Why not put lights there? The area with the weights and ab crunch is SUPER congested. I started to feel uncomfortable. When I tried to use the stair master the machine sounded very old and like it was about to break soon.

Remarkable job placing such a large gym in midtown Manhattan. While the equipment could use some maintenance, most of the machines, free weights, massage chairs, and public spaces are kept up well. Never have a problem finding an elliptical, treadmill, bike, rowing machine, or the weight apparatus I want to use.

This Planet Fitness location is clean and well organized. In an amazing enhancement, they just replaced all the strength equipment in the club in the span of 2 days so everything is new and works well! I highly recommend Planet Fitness for its value and high quality.

It’s fine. Not good, not bad, just fine. But it could be a lot better with a few layout changes and some better cleaning systems. As many have already complained about, the weight area is way too crowded and poorly laid out. 5 benches is just not enough and it’s always a hassle to find space, either for a bench or to do dumbbell workouts alongside. Too many machines crowded around this area too. The 30-minute workout zone is oversized and underused. If you love cardio machines they have plenty. Again, poorly laid out. You could axe half of the machines and meet capacity fine, giving over that area to weights instead which sorely need the space. The place is generally clean enough, but worn down. Lockers are janky and sorta gross. Equipment overall is the typical PF weird and sort of basic/limiting. I realllllly wish they would replace the paper roll + spray bottle with just a gallon of wet wipes. This is much faster to use and deal with and clean better. Overall fine (paying just $10 a month doesn’t warrant a lot of room to complain) but a few tweaks to the layout would make this a much much better gym - it has that potential.

  • 5/5 Sonny B. 1 year ago on Google
Can’t complain given the low price. No squat racks or barbells. Crowded weights area but mornings were fine. No issues cancelling after 2 months.

  • 5/5 Conor F. 1 year ago on Google
Staff members are friendly. It is a solid gym, excellent value for money, no drama, and members are respectful. Could do with more weights / machines to replace a third of the cardio machines.

Oh I love this location I started going in May of 2022 last year I decided to switch from 27th and 34th street locations for a little bit and love it. They have been amazing to me and the staff. It's quiet, comfortable, more space, and they take care of all of the machines and staff.

I am a musician and have toured a lot in my life and that was one of the reasons I got PF Black membership. I can say that this location is one of the best. Kept clean and good staff. My only complaint (like many of the locations) is that I wish they had more than one of certain popular weight machines that everyone likes to use so I would'nt have to wait so long to use it.

  • 4/5 Brooke L. 1 year ago on Google
Very basic, no frills gym. Not a lot of mirrors so can’t watch yourself work out. Not a lot of free weights so you may have to wait or do something else if you’re there at a busy time. If you’re a black card member, you have to get a coin from the front desk to use the massage chairs and the coin is only good for 5 minutes. No sweat towels and haven’t seen a water fountain so plan accordingly. Lot of cardio machines. Only 2 smith machines and are always in use. You pay for what you get. This is definitely the cheapest gym in the area which is nice because it’s actually affordable but doesn’t have all the fancy frills. It gets the job done.

  • 3/5 Tom H. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty much the same complaint as everyone else. They stand to only have half of their treadmills and ellipticals and make room for more weight racks/ machines. I do like it because it’s PF and I feel more at home there.

  • 4/5 Undercover A. 1 year ago on Google
04/14/2023 Look for the PF flags outside. The entrance is a glass door to the right of the flags. I only used the shower which was fairly clean. The water pressure wasn't that great but there was hot water. The dressing room floors are pretty grimy, and so are the floors of the women's locker room. That being said, this location is cleaner than the 125th street location or at 25 Broadway in the financial district.

I'd like to point out the staff are paid minimum wage and don't receive raises and despite that this gym remains the cleanest of all Planet Fitness' in the NYC area that I have been to. The gym equipment is kept clean and organized. The complaints about people bombarding equipment/ machines etc is ridiculous as everyone attending the gym should be an adult. Make it known you want to use said equipment wait for their set to be up. You cannot expect the results of a luxury gym from $20 a month.

  • 4/5 Smith L. 8 months ago on Google
So today was my first time coming to this location and the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5, is because it was incredibly too hot to where I had to cut my workout short and leave. I was drenched in sweat. Now I noticed a lot of entitled ppl in the comments and even at the gym. It’s not gym’s fault that it gets crowded the way it does. It’s close and convenient and one can only imagine, how hard it must be cleaning up after ppl when there’s a constant flow of foot traffic all day long. In my opinion, it was pretty clean. The gym was packed so that kind of made it hard to stick to my routine but it was pretty spacious to move around. All I would say is , please fix the AC because from what im reading, it seems to be a consistent thing. Other than that, it’s a 5.

Not enough equipment for the only Planet Fitness nearest the Upper West Side of NYC. They need to open another PF on the upper west side and keep something open for 24 hours. They just need more equipment for New York City in general. Customer service was good though.

Extremely disappointed with the company. I accidentally signed up to the wrong club two days ago (I wanted to sign up for the club in Hoboken, NJ and accidentally signed up in this location). For the past two days I have been trying to switch to a correct home club so that I would not have to cancel and sign up again correctly (that means I have to pay the singing up fee two times). I called and tried to find out what I could do, but there was nothing to be done. I am not being refunded or anything. Also, the black card is a scam because you are limited to visit another club of planet fitness only 10 times a month, more than 10 times comes with an additional charge. Planet fitness employees gave me all the help they could, however, nothing could be done. I have been trying to contact the Planet Fitness through email or online chat, but there is no way to contact except calling the home club. Only thing they could offer me was a "courtesy cancellation", which basically means they click on cancel button for me.

I really enjoyed this location back in 2020-2022. Since they changed their layout and placement of certain machines, it feels so overwhelmingly crowded and small, specifically in the dumbbell area, where the leg press machine is and near the smith machines, where people spend most of their time. I wish they kept the same layout they once had back then. It was so much more spacious and you were able to walk through and even find a spot by the mirror even when you couldn’t get a bench. I had to unfortunately leave due to this. But if they went back to the original layout they had in that entire section, I would consider returning as the gym itself was good and clean. I knew about the crowd meter on the app and all but, I just wish they had left it how it once was. Disappointed to say the least. Hopefully they take the feedback and recommendations from everyone and actually do instead of only listen.
