Such a cool, old cinema. Great location. So much better than the enormous chain cinemas. Staff are really friendly and helpful, and seem proud of the place.

It's always a special experience seeing a movie at the Tyneside Cinema compared to bigger, more commercial venues. Customer service is always fab. I went to see a film alone, for anybody nervous about doing this, this is a great place to try it as it's a smaller, more intimate setting. Many people at the screening I went to were on there own too. I didn't feel uncomfortable or out of place at all.

What a great venue for seeing a range of films, many of which would not be shown at the large chain cinemas. Friendly atmosphere, food and drink options. Please keep supporting it so we don't lose this wonderful place.

Saw "Empire of Light" on 35mm in the big screen, it was absolutely wonderful. The experience is just great being on the top deck looking down. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Staff friendly as always. Will continue to come here.

A wonderfully nostalgic afternoon spent watching an old movie with like minded people. Comfy seats in a small cinema room, your childhood history all around you, ushers stand with prepackaged goodies, an overhanging balcony level, a screen which at first glance looks tiny in comparison to what we're used to in the 2020's, all combine to offer an intimate movie experience. We all chatted and tittered through the trailers but once the title screen came up, the room went silent for the whole movie. Engrossed as we all were, even the rumble of the passing metro trains didn't detract from the afternoon's viewing, and the film ended to a round of applause, with a host of us wiping our eyes after hearing that that Clarence had got his wings. Smiles and warm feelings all round. There is a busy bar area to visit after your movie, or grab a decent cuppa from the narrow coffee shop. Great prices, cosy warm environment, and like minded people to share a relaxing afternoon with. What's not to love about that?!

Love this place. A genuine old school movie experience and the bar on the ground floor is pretty decent as well. Alternative cinema but not too pretentious

The Heritage tour was very informative, and it was great to learn about the history of the cinema from our Heritage Guide. The newsreel shown was from well before my time, and provided an excellent insight into past events and how they were reported. The Tyneside Cinema is well worth a visit

Thoroughly enjoyed watching One Life in the small cinema at the top of this historical building. From buying tickets, enjoying a coffee in the coffee shop while waiting then climbing the stairs to the showing... The staff were friendly and helpful. Really hope that this place can stay doing good business for many years to come!

My 3rd time back here when visiting Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. I love the atmosphere and friendly staff as well as selection of food and drink. Also love the range of films that are put on! Will be back again when in town.

One of the only newsreel cinemas left in the UK. Excellent range of films and delicious food in the cafe downstairs. The coffee rooms have also recently reopened and are well worth a visit.

Fantastic cinema. The interior gives the place a great feel. The staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The food and drink was very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back and can highly recommend.

I love this place! Comfortable. Edgy cinema and friendly. The jewel in the crown of Newcastle cinema. Bar is pricey but I can live with that

We were watching Broker in the Gallery cinema. The seats were comfortable and all had good views of the screen - it felt very personal. The whole building was really nice with interesting displays and a generally nice vibe.

Comfortable seating with a good selection of films to view. Good view of 6he screen and a quality sound system. Friendly and helpful staff with a good knowledge of the featured movies. Excellent value for money . A touch of nostalgia as to what going to the cinema used to be

We always enjoy seeing a film at the Tyneside Cinema. The staff are friendly, and the surroundings are comfortable. It's never rowdy or noisy. Atmosphere and ambience are second to none.

Gorgeous independent cinema with a great vibe, quality sound and picture and friendly staff. We visited The Roxy which was very comfortable. Prices slightly high, but worth it to support this venue. There did seem to be many staff stood around chatting and not doing a lot, and another minor issue I had was the glass bottles for the soft drinks, yes they fit the retro vibe, but you get less drink for your money and they're just as recyclable as the cheaper larger plastic bottles.

One of the best independent cinemas going at the moment. Some of the best showings for the big upcoming new films with early releases. Comfortable seating, lovely cafe, cool overnight fun screenings and genuine staff, who’ve never been a problem but have always made the experience great! P.S - make more shirts with the over night showings (I will buy them)

Wonderful as always. We were in the smaller room, it's so comfortable and makes the cinema experience more powerful. We enjoy watching independent films here that you can't easily see in other cinemas in town. It's great to have somewhere to see these films and in such a gorgeous venue.

We came to Tyneside Cinema for my daughters birthday party today. We had such a fantastic time - had our own private cinema, served drinks, hot dogs & chips at our seats in a lovely setting. Mbiganyi the events manager was extremely helpful and made the party to flow really well. We all had a fantastic time. Such an excellent venue for a children's party. Thanks so much!

One of my favourite cinemas in the country, the staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful whenever needed. I own a Young Tynseside membership which is free and makes it even more appealing to come here often for new releases. Film festivals and events are always being held here, and there are always new ways to get more people to attend. Definitely go here instead of the big chains, support the local business!

Love love love this community cinema! Go-to place for many people. A bit sad that the cafe opening hours and the menu have become more limited over time, due to running costs. Wish the mgmt could review their menu and cafe selection so we could give 5 stars to the cinema and cafe combo!

Tough days I know for the Tyneside cinema. But this constant raising prices....it's now 5 quid for soup of the day. That's the cheapest lunch on offer here now. 14 quid for a vegan burger! Providing a good value lunch will bring punters in, not fleecing the folk that still continue to come here. At some point even we will call it a day. The staff continue to smile and do their best. X

Lovely traditional cinema, screens such as the Roxy are smaller than most modern cinemas, but the seats are more spacious and it feels more like private viewings.

An eclectic cluster of movie screens found just off Grey's monument. Offers a diverse playbill from black and white classics to indy films to first run major studio productions. Our visit was a nice break from the hussle and bustle of the Season.

Great place to watch a film. See what mainstream cinemas won't show as well as classic and art house movies. Great sound and comfortable seating. Always worth a visit with a great cafe bar downstairs

Cinematic jewel in the Crown of Newcastle City Centre. A great independent cinema with modern and old fashioned cinema melded together to create a nostalgic and contemporary feel simultaneously.

Served drinks quickly and effectively by friendly, committed people, we watched Drive My Car, which did identify the fact that the seats are low for someone with longer legs (it was a 3 hour long film!) but aside from that, this cinema is always a pleasure to attend. Previous reports of staff issues pre covid I can't comment on, but as an attendee it ticks all of the boxes for a more refined cinema experience. Please note that I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for family visits, particularly later at night, due to its location and the generally more adult audience.

Fantastic arthouse cinema with 5 screens, in an original art deco building with mosaic floors and ornate ironwork. The building is the last surviving 'newsreel' cinema in the UK, and was founded by the uncle of local lad Ridley Scott! Comfy seats in all the cinemas and good sound systems. There are some bars where you can buy snacks and drinks, and yes you can take beer in! They show some Hollywood films as well as independent and vintage films. Very highly recommended, and your ticket will help to support this excellent institution, which unfortunately is always short of cash.

A lovely cinema. Very comfortable seats, probably better than Cine world and the Vue. The screen, although not huge was very sharp and the sound system was spot on. We loved our 1st experience of Tyneside Cinema.

Always special, the Tyneside Cinema has an old world charm with modern comfort. Not the place to come if you love to run the gamut of a blinding array of diabetes inducing, over large snacks, before traversing sticky carpeted coridoors, counting down screens. This is more understated and consequently more intimate. Call in next door for a drink or food to complete the experience.

Really lovely venue, screening was flawless and not over packed. Staff were very friendly and accommodating when I needed assistance.

Stunningly beautiful historic independent cinema. Great prices, amazing staff, way better than average film snacks as well. If I could give 10 stars on a 5 star system I would

Always a treat to visit. The Tyneside Film Theatre provides a whole package with it's own café for pre film food and drink to comfortable relaxing intimate theatres offering a variety of films not always on offer elsewhere. Love it !

Tyneside Cinema is an icon of town. Well kept and rich with history behind it. I have gone to the café upstairs on many occasions without a screening as the food there is great for lunch! On top of this Tyneside Cinema is an amazing location for events (recently attending the Lord of the rings preview) and would recommend anyone scouting for a place to screen a project or something of the sorts! Overall, would defo recommend the Tyneside Cinema to anyone looking for a nice time out with some good food and comfy seats to their movie!

Love this cinema but what on earth have you done to the coffee room! Now looks awful with drab tables and a very cut down menu. Very disappointing.

Superb cinema showing all the best releases for a reasonable price in authentic screens. (Students should sign up to their discount card!) The bar/cafe/restaurant has a great atmosphere and beers on tap that you can take into the film!

It's a great institution, showing both current mainstream films and more art house and world cinema realm. Comfy seats, sound levels that don't make your ears bleed and a bar/cafe on the ground floor if you want a drink beforehand. There is also a restaurant but this was closed on my visit
