I spent more than five hours exploring the museum. It is very well organized and offers multimedia tools that make learning much easier. And it entertains you. I have been to several museums, and this is the best one I have been to so far, as it has adapted very well to the current times of teaching. I had the opportunity to visit the American Museum of Natural History in New York and it has a lot to learn from the Musée de la Romanité . As another thing that amazed me was the architecture that looks beautiful on the outside, but it is on the inside where you get the impact. At one moment it is as if you open a shutter and through the window you see the past. And there it is, in all its splendor, the Arena of Nimes. A marvel!

Very informational and interesting museum! All the staff were very polite and watchful and were ready to assist you along the pathway if you seemed confused. The Roman history and historical relics were amazing to see in person, and have been very well preserved. Overall a very educational and calming experience! I would happily come back again!

We went to discover the Roman time of France, and this was the right place to do it. Amazing museum and we only paid 19€ for family tickets ( 2 adults and two teenagers ). We take 2 hours and the time ran. Next time we will take more time to enjoy all exhibits.

The museum includes a large collection of artifacts from the time of the Gauls and the Roman period, up until the medieval times. The price of the ticket is 9€ and 12€ if you wish to have an audio guide. However, there is information in English on all the displays and the museum staff were very knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions. We were lucky as there was also a temporary display of contemporary arts where you could admire Roman statues with a modern twist! Do not forget to visit the gardens and the viewpoint! The restaurant with views of the amphitheater seemed really nice! Overall, we spent nearly 3 hours, so it is a must if you are a history buff!

Lucky me, I come today on the first Sunday of the month, so it's free entry for everyone. The museum is quite nice with good collections from the Roman world around Mediterranean, not only from local Nimes. It's completed with plenty of interactive presentations and videos as well as English translation for the collection's descriptions. Not to mention, the staffs also have very good English. We can find a souvenir shop here with plenty good stuffs and panoramic roof which is perfect for a sunny day with a restaurant. Backpacks and coats can be left in the storage/cloakroom service near the entrance.

One of the best museums dedicated to historic development of the region that I’ve ever seen. Stylish and modern design is working well with interesting and interjective elements of the exhibition making your visit exciting. I did also like the temporary exhibition that should be there until the end of the year 2023 - would recommend checking it as it is a fresh view of the ancient sculpturing

Without a doubt the best laid out museum of Roman antiquity I have visited. The exhibits explain beautifully how the artifacts were found and used. The architectural models clearly explained how the various buildings were designed and constructed. And the exhibits progressed through time from the earliest to the latest. Well worth the visit.

Went with the full pass in Nîmes and was pleasantly surprised of how well made the museum is. Lots of interesting artifacts and artwork. Most of the interpretive areas were available in 4 different languages. Well laid out.

Superb museum dedicated to the Romans. Multimedia presentations and collections of related items shown in recreated context keep it interesting. Staff very helpful and friendly. Watch out for the bust of Julia Domna, the Syrian wife of an African emperor who visited Scotland and England.

Great place to learn about Roman in Nimes. Buy the Pass Roman for 3 monuments and the museum

A truly exceptional museum that combines style, artifacts, information and technology to great effect! There is also special attention paid to keeping the museum accessible for those with visual and auditory impairments, with things like physical touchable replicas of objects and relief paintings (with braille, of course) which act as duplicates for the real thing. See the attached photos for an example! For the price, the value of the museum is beyond compare, especially if you have even a passing interest in Roman Empire history. Big thanks to Bastien R. , an enthusiastic and helpful guide we met along the way, who gave us details on the functioning of an AR mirror and much more!

Well worth a visit, this museum is laid out to allow the visitor to experience audio-visual history at their own pace. A little confusing with spiral stairs but good facilities.

This is the best museum I’ve visited in years. The collection is magnificent, the layout is clever and the notes are great. There is so much to look at that it’s hard to take in in one visit, but tickets can be used on two consecutive days. A super place.

Excellent museum. Informative and audio guide was easy touse and thorough. . I was able to spend time enjoying the exhibits at my own pace thanks to the building being well designed and very well appointed for disabled motorised scooter use. Excellent. Thank you.

Kivoja interaktiivisia esittelytapoja. Hinta oli 9euroa.

Absolutely astonishing! The museum is extremely well-designed, and the works are phenomenal. The explanations are clear, the videos are well produced, and it is easily the best museum for kids I have seen in a long time. Do not miss it! The #1 attraction in Nîmes, by a very wide margin

Museum dedicated to Roman artifacts. If you manage to be in Nimes on the first Sunday of the month, then it's free entry. Had a nice wander about the place. There are lots of voice activated spots but if you don't speak French then there's no point. Pleasant way to kill some time.

Excellent displays. View the fine numismatic collection and read about the story of ancient oil lamps.

One of the nicest historical museums we have ventured to due the helpful staff, well presented artifacts, and excellent audio tour that provided a brief but very informative overview of around 40 features all without being boring or repetitive. In addition there is a roof top viewing area that provides some wonderful views of the area.

An impressive museum if you are interested in Roman history. Laid out in a very easy to understand manner and the staff are lovely and friendly. The museum is not too cold on a sunny day. It may take around 2-3 hours to complete the whole thing as there is a lot to see and sometimes a big but good exhibition.

We went to the Museum with two kids (8-10years old) and it was great! They liked to learn more about the romanité. The exhibition is full of interactive devices and with an interactive multimedia devices created to be followed with friends particularly adapted to children. The free games booklets make the kids feel like they are on a special mission. The Museum Team is really nice and helpful when the kids needs it. Great experience!

Very impressed by the museum and its fascinating artifacts. Definitely worth a visit! If you are familiar with the city and its surroundings, it gets even more interesting when you understand where the items have been found. What I missed though was a visual presentation with Roman Nimês layered beneath the city of today.

Great museum, well laid out. Friendly and helpful staff. Even better it was free as it was the first Sunday of the month.
