So glad this place is doing well. They moved around the corner onto Yonge street to a much bigger location with a lot more indoor seating. Was there during their soft opening. Love their baos. You come here for the pork baos. It's always consistently meaty with hot soup in it. The noodles with scallion oil and peanuts is delicious too. Tried their new duck soup with vermicelli. The broth is clean and flavorful. It's a great cozy meal.

So yummy, absolutely love this place! It's not big, and it gets super busy, and people continues to flood in, then you know this place is no joke!! Sang-ji was super delicious, juicy and HOT! Be careful when you indulge them, the won-ton soup was so comforting, and the noodle was super aromatic and with a great texture! 👍 I'll come back definitely!!

Authentic shanghainese style pan fried soup dumplings! Honestly, these fried baos transport me back to shanghai. I would say the original baos are better than the curry ones, but that comes down to preference. The ratio of meat to wrapping is perfect, tons of soup, and the meat quality was excellent. I also tried the duck soup vermicelli - soup was fantastic, really flavourful, but everything else fell short in my opinion. The duck meat and tongue was tough, the noodles didn’t seem fresh (overcooked, no chew) Shanghai style wontons were decent, although would have preferred them to be bigger to get more flavour in one bite. Soup was not as flavourful. Fried short ribs were a bit tough as well, although the sauce was great! Will definitely return to try the dry scallion noodles and get more fried baos!

First time trying and ordering takeout from them. Ordered at 1:13, was told would take 25-30 mins. I showed up at 2:00 and still had to wait about 5 minutes. The place was really busy and there's really no place to social distance by the cashier when you're picking up takeout. Also did not provide a bottle of hand sanitizer. It was incredibly hectic at the back but the staff were still courteous. They only take debit or cash. Ordered: curry bao, original bao, fried ribs, and wonton soup. Including tax this was about $37. Their baos are like bigger versions of Shanghai dumplings with a nice crunchy bottom from the frying process. The wonton soup literally is just wonton and soup. Their fried ribs were good, very juicy, great crunch, and well flavored though a bit salty. Overall, food was good but very heavy in msg and salt. I liked that they only used recyclable takeout containers. Worth a try if you're in the area. Not sure I would go back though, not really food that I would crave. And for lunch, the portions are small so after ordering so much, it's not so cost effective.

Unique and flavourful. The dry noodles pair nicely with the bao. There’s a little how-to on the table; heed the warnings! The soup inside the bao is hot but warms you up.

Food is great especially the original bao buns. It’s filled with pork broth that is on the sweeter note. The skin is soft on the top part and fragrant with sesame seeds; bottom part is crispy. Good textural contrast. Pork ribs is crispy and balanced in flavour; it’s deep fried riblets type of small pork ribs and two fried rice cake served with sweet Thai chilli sauce. It’s pretty good as a starter The dough fritter rolls is just a so so for us, it’s wrapped with an eggy type of skin and topped with pork floss. This is a “no repeat” for us. The wonton soup is ok, serves hot and perfect for a cold winter day like today (-20C). Wonton is bite-size filled with pork. Wonton skin is not as thin as I’d like it but I think that’s just preferences. The dry noodle is nothing special, it’s literally boiled noodles topped with fried onion and very very very little peanuts. I got literally 1 piece of a crushed peanut. So, this is also a “no repeat” for us. Now food wise we would rate this place as a 4-star restaurant. What makes the experience worst is the service. It was pretty packed when we arrived and we were asked to leave a phone number and were to wait for 20 mins. They call us and it went to the voicemail as I was on the other line. However, we proceeded straight into the restaurant literally the same minute that called us. However, they gave the table away to other patron and without hearing us out; they yelled “you didn’t pick up our phone so I give table away”. We waited another 20 mins for another table which made us waited around 40 Mins for this food. Yeah, so this made our experience a little rough to start. When we were dining, all the servers were yelling sorry here and there. I think the flow of the restaurant made them constantly bumping themselves to customers/people. There’s not a lot of good operational flow in the restaurant. Overall, a good place to do take out because food is good. Dining in wise it’s still a 3⭐️ for us.

One of my new favourite restaurants! You can’t go wrong the original pork sang-ji bao and the dry scallion noodle. The curry sang-ji bao and the savoury dough fritter roll also taste great! Be prepared to wait for a while if you go at a peak time as seating is limited. There is also a huge draft from the basement where the washroom is located, which is something to be mindful of. Can’t wait to go back for more!

This place is a staple in the area for a reason. The food is incredible.. very simple and great quality. The new location is really nice and has added more to the menu. I recommend this place 🙂

Warning, these baos are highly addictive!! Soft on top, crispy on the bottom, filled to the brim with soupy goodness (careful not to burn yourself). I’ve eaten here twice in the past week and I don’t intend to stop. The dry scallion noodles are also delicious, I highly recommend getting both. I will try their other items later but those two dishes are 5/5 chef’s kiss.

Came to Sang ji fried bao on for an afternoon lunch and was not disappointed. We ordered the original pork and curry fried baos and the scallion peanut noodles. The original pork baos are definitely a must get, preferred them to the curry ones. The noodles r super chewy and are a pleasant accompany to the flavourful baos. Note they only take cash and debit

this is one of my go to place for comfort food. even though their most popular item is the sang ji bao, my favorite has gotta be their wonton soup! the wonton skin has still some chew which means they boil it perfectly! it’s still intact. the broth? oh my, gives me the real comfort to my tummy. feels like I’m instantly warmed up! meanwhile, the scallion oil noodle can never go wrong! I like mine with harder texture so I always ask them to boil the noodles quicker although sometimes they don’t deliver 🤭 but it’s okay, i tried 🤣 I have been visiting sang ji bao ever since their days when they’re still a small joint which sells these three menu items. they’ve expanded to a bigger store with various selection of menu. if you still haven’t tried this place, I don’t know where have you been all this time. go NOW.

One of the best chains. Feels expensive at $2 a dumpling but I’m super full every time. I believe the original is the best flavour but it’s so nice to go to a restaurant and find beef soup dumplings!

Yummy!  Sang-Ji Fried Bao sure knows how to make a tasty san ji bao (soup filled dumplings with pan fried bottoms)!  I mean, the restaurant is named after the food they are selling!  I can confidently say they have consistently served me the best san ji baos time and time again.  The baos are served piping hot so be extra careful not to burn your mouth.  Enjoy your baos!

The Sang-Ji fried Bao was so great. The soup inside was so tasty. I love the original one more than curry one. The snacks were ok.

Sang-Ji Bao is my go-to place in the GTA to get pan fried, soup filled buns. You know when a place is good when there is a steady stream of customers for a restaurant that literally has 3 dishes in the menu. Whenever we come here hubby and I always get 2 orders of the sang-ji bao and the wonton soup. I recommend caution when you bite into the hot bao, as the soup has been known to squirt sideways! They will be changing location towards the end of September 2021, and moving a block north to 5461 Yonge Street.

The baos may be a little pricier for the amount but they’re amazing quality and I’ve never had them like this. They stay crispy even after an hour. So good and one of a kind. The soup in them is delicious as well.

Sang-Ji Bao is a great snack shop to get a quick bite to eat. Highly recommend getting their namesake specialty Sang-Ji fried baos , they are so deliciously crispy on the bottom and filled with hot soup. The duck soup and mini wontons are also very tasty. They are very popular so there can be a wait but it's worth it.

Food here is amazing … best in the city imo! I’m glad they moved to a bigger location. I do love that they keep their menu small. Stick with what they do best. Ordered the wonton soup as well. Branched out and tried the fried dough wrapped in egg, wasn’t my fave. Found it a bit too salty. But I really only go for the fried baos.

I got the original fried bao and the scallion noodles. Both had amazing flavours and the perfect texture. I will say it's a little more experience now than it was before, but super fast service if you want a quick bite to eat. Overall: 4/5

Came here to just try these dumplings and they were absolutely yummy! The pan fried dumplings has lots of delicious soup inside. You can tell it’s great without eating as the place is packed and continuously has people coming in to order takeaway also.

Fried baos are delicious! Hard to find a good one in the GTA area. The original one is great, lots of piping hot soup inside and the exterior is crispy/crunchy at the bottom. The curry one is good too but I find it to be really heavy and greasy after having 2. Prices are reasonable and I recommend coming during midday so you can avoid the dinner rush.

The fried bao is worth trying! I was surprised how juicy it was! The meat soup inside the bao was squirted out when I bit it. The dishes of the restaurant have been on the list of my favorite.

Best fried baos I've had ever! Their dry scallion noodles are delicious! Going to try their won ton soup tonight. I order out from here a few times a month. Sometimes they can be super busy but it's worth the wait!!

Been a solid customer here for awhile now and genuinely enjoy their food every time. The best baos I’ve had in the city! Had the scallion noodles for the first time today and was not disappointed. Very basic but delicious 🤤

So simple but yet so delicious. These fried dumplings have a soup inside that will warm any heart. But caution, because it is actually burning hot. The staff even give you an instruction sheet on how to eat it without burning your precious lips. Also tried their noodles and it was fantastic. The place is very small, only few seats. Set up is more for takeout. It's always busy with a lineup outside. We came here on a few occasions were they sold out for the day. Definitely a place you should try!

Located right off Yonge street and Byng, this is another hole in the wall eatery that makes Yonge Street north of the 401 such a delightful good eats treasure cove. With just two items on the menu (pan fried pork buns or Scallion noodles), I ordered two servings of the pan fried buns. The kitchen had an entire fleet of these buns on a massive top all cooking away and once my order was in, the chef immediately went to the one end with the cooked ones and shovelled my order onto neat little foil lined boxes. In and out in under 2 minutes! Not to say that they weren't fresh but it's so convenient! The buns are tiny (think large Siu Mai size) and filled with soup! Poke a hole in them first, drink the highly addictive savory pork soup and THEN bite into the crispy top that's contrasted with the soft chew bottom. Wonderful experience! Prefers cash but credit and debit were available. Parking can be difficult due to it being on Yonge street.

These dumplings may just be the best in the city! We were able to get seats without a reservation around 7pm on a Thursday, after a 15 minute wait. The service was quick and efficient. Our table ordered almost one of each dish and shared, which was great to try out the different options. Their signature dumplings are juicy in the inside, with a soft thick dough and crisped bottom. We also enjoyed the dry noodles and egg rolls! The sweet soy milk was also delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant

Bought fried bao for take-out, the bao was very juicy, meat was fresh and bottom was crispy... probably the best sang-ji (i.e. fried bao LOL) in the city.

One of my favourite restaurants in my area, this place has been a staple for many years. Their baos are always consistent and delicious. Over the years it's been nice seeing them move to a larger space and expand their menu by a bit. Would recommend the bao, the dry noodle, and the fritter! I tried the curry one for the first time, it was good but I personally prefer the original baos. Value for money is also quite good in my opinion. They do offer a cash discount as well!

Delicious and authentic Shanghai style fried Sangji! The quality is consistent with perfect juicy filling, soup, and crispy fried bottom crust. The service is fast and portions are good for how affordable they are! They are truly my favorite spot for such a comfort food! I would love to try more items off their menu next time.

  • 5/5 John L. 6 months ago on Google
Small clean place. Fast service. We had the original and the truffle Sangji bao and wonton. I like the original better (and cheaper) since the truffle made skin soggier. The fried bottom is interesting and yummy and a different spin from my normal go to place at Juicy Dumpling. Make sure you poke holes in them or you'll fry your tongue as they're super hot

Food was great, sat at the bar stool looking through the glass where they make the dumplings in front of you. Ordered the duck vermicelli soup, curry beef fried soup dumpling and the original fried soup dumpling, would highly recommend all 3!

Very convenient location. First attempted and fell in love. Food served fast and very hot. Their fried baos are so yummy and juicy! The bao was crispy on one side and soft on the other side. When you bite into it, you get mouth full of soup! Their Dry Noodle with Scallion Oil and Peanuts was also very tasty. Love their garlic deep fried pork ribs with sweet and spicy sauce. Cost effective and delicious. Highly recommend!

small but amazing menu - we tried everything and it was all SO GOOOOOD!! Their fried dumplings are the obivous choice but their garlic noodles and fried pork were fantastic too! We heard them say they are opening more locations downtown.

  • 5/5 Russell C. 1 year ago on Google
I ordered the fried bao, wonton soup and scallion noodles. All of which were simple in their own right but delightfully flavourful. The meal was a healthy amount as a meal for two lighter eaters leaving room for dessert still. I was happy with all three dishes and would order the same when I eventually return

  • 5/5 Alyssa L. 11 months ago on Google
Got the classic fried bao and I really liked it! I’ll definitely be returning in the future 🫡 it was a bit difficult to eat and grab with chopsticks but worth the struggle lol. Relatively cheap eat and one platter (four fried baos) is quite filling for a short and easy meal. The bao itself was actually larger than expected! It’s a very intuitive system that the restaurant works on and would probably be great to eat at alone too. The fried bao was great- plenty of soup & very crispy but not too oily. I’ll definitely be returning again (for the baos) but maybe try a few other items next time too :))

I love soup dumplings so I'm so glad Sang-Ji is nearby. They just opened a bigger store with tables for dine in. The curry baos are a new addition to their small menu (and I pretty much tried almost all their items). For this visit I tried the curry bao and got an order of the original bao. 1) Curry Bao I found the curry taste to be quite strong so if you're not used to it, brace yourself. I did find it a bit too strong in my opinion even though I like curry myself. The bao itself is still good but I don't think I'll come back for the curry. 2) Original Bao This is probably my fifth time getting original bao so yes, I do like it. Their menu is growing so I would definitely come back and try new dishes once they add more. I enjoyed the dry noodles that I had before as well!

  • 5/5 Vivian C. 2 years ago on Google
The best fried baos I’ve had… ever!! So fresh and hot. The baos are made with a thin chewy dough and are jam packed with juicy meat and a ton of hot broth. Bottoms are crispy and fried and so savoury good. Even though it can get quite busy, service is still polite and consistent. Only downside is the lack of easy parking but that’s not their fault. Give this place a shot.

Fav fried bao in town! My shanghainese friends brought me here and I am in love! The baos are super juicy, crunchy, soft. Highly recommend it!
