2023.08 my personal opinion only. Food really so so, meat has too much fat and most of them are pretty much the same taste. Nothing really special. But the mackerel is good. Garlic clam and garlic mushrooms has too much garlic. Food are bit salty. Portion is ok.

My recent visit to Chat Bar in North York on a bustling Friday evening left me with an unforgettable experience. The restaurant was teeming with customers, and while it took around 30 minutes to be seated, I can say without a doubt that it was well worth the wait. The anticipation only added to our excitement. Upon being seated, we eagerly dove into the menu, settling on two sets of beef skewers, two sets of pork skewers, cucumbers, clams, cabbage, along with a selection of drinks, and some delectable Inoki mushrooms. The first bite was a revelation, and each subsequent one was just as mouthwatering. The flavors and quality of the dishes truly left a lasting impression. The ambiance at Chat Bar was nothing short of amazing. The restaurant boasts a unique two-story layout, with both a cozy downstairs and a more open, lively upstairs area. The variety in seating options gave the restaurant a dynamic feel and allowed diners to choose the setting that suited them best. What stood out most during our visit was the diversity among the customers. Chat Bar seems to be a place where people from all walks of life come together to enjoy fantastic food and great company. This inclusivity added a layer of warmth and friendliness to the atmosphere, making it a perfect place for an evening out. However, the true highlight of the evening was the exceptional service we received from our server, Amanda. She was an absolute gem. Amanda greeted us with a welcoming smile and patiently took the time to ensure our order was perfect. She checked in on us regularly, asking about our dining experience and making us feel genuinely cared for. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor truly made the evening top-notch. It's worth noting that we hadn't visited this location since the pandemic began, and Chat Bar's visit was a wonderful reminder of the joy of dining out. Thanks to Amanda's excellent service, the incredible food, and the vibrant atmosphere, we are absolutely certain that we'll be back for more memorable experiences. Chat Bar has earned a special place in our hearts, and we can't wait to return for another delightful evening.

Great service, good food. Really liked the sausage skewers and cheesy sweet potato!

Honestly the service was great. The wait staff were great in explaining everything. We ordered a lot of food. I found the skewered meats like the lamb and the beef ribs, chicken were very fatty. Not a lot of meat really. The cheesy corn was delicious. The sausage, scallop, oysters shrimp were delicious. So all in all some foods were good some weren't as much. It's also cash or debit and service charge was included.

My family and I were craving Chinese skewers so we dropped by chat Bar. It's really our first dinner out since the lock down and we were expecting a long wait in the line, but I guess we were lucky to get the last patio table during the 730pm rush. Our server was Angela and her service for the night was excellent! Super attentive and super accommodating. Food came very quickly, and we were not disappointed! The eggplant and the wings skewers really stood out for us. The cheesy baked mashed yam was a pleasant surprise! The only suggestion we have is to for them to offer more variety in the sauce they use on their seafood items. Don't get me wrong, we love garlic to the max. But when that same garlic sauce is used on a third of the items on the menu, it gets a little bit repetitive! Also wished that fried rice didn't have that steep off a price tag! All in all, it was an great meal! We will definitely be back!

Little bit pricey but overall we had a good experience. Amanda was great and respectful. Will come back and try other items. I like the prime Kalbi skweres, lamb, and okra.

I you don’t already know hear me when I say this. Can’t Bar is one of the best, if not the best place for skewers in the GTA. The seasoning is spot on with a good amount of cumin, but so much that is overwhelming. Well, unless you’ve never tasted cumin before. The prices are high, but the quality justifies the price tag. Get the sliced potatoes and the cheese corn between bites to keep things interesting. Be sure to get the sausage as well!

Honestly feel like quality has gone down over time. Came by with a friend for dinner and we really enjoyed the ambience. I feel like skewers were very (for lack of better terms) mid- nothing especially great about them. I used to go to the first location in unionville when they first opened and it was a lot better than it is now. Quality is still not bad and service is not bad as well. Its a nice place to stop by after drinking or for a casual bite / drinks with friends but other than that, I think there’s better locations for 串. Oh, and their drink menu could use some more variety of heavier alcohols in my opinion, i think I would like it a lot more if it was a sit down and get tipsy type of bar.

I think this is one of my new favourite local spots!! I always walk by this restaurant but finally got to try it out for dinner and was blown away. From the start, we felt a sense of excitement being here! I think this is due to the atmosphere and the cozy but aesthetic, decorative feel of the place especially with the theme of wooden designing. The decor is lovely and the dim lighting definitely sets the dinner mood. We ordered the mini squid tentacles, beef heart artery, pork belly, quail, and spicy beef on rice. The pork belly was beyond phenomenal- I honestly could’ve ordered 3 portions just for myself. The flavour was phenomenal, so fresh and delicious. The quail was okay- we found it just a little too dry for our liking and probably would’ve enjoyed it more if it had some sauce or something else to accompany it. The beef artery was a great surprise, very chewy texture and delicious flavour and same exact critique with the squid. The beef with rice was also delicious, we wanted a rice dish to go with the meats we were ordering and this was perfect. The only downside we found was the repetition in use of seasonings for the squid, pork, and beef, however we agreed that this was likely due to us ordering dishes that were all in the similar/ same category. It was still delicious but we thought different seasonings could’ve slightly complemented the different dishes in a better way. Finally, Adonis was wonderful from start to finish. He was so kind, friendly, and didn’t pester us throughout the meal. I cannot wait to come back and try the other dishes here!

It was mine and my friend’s first time eating at Chat Bar. Our server was Sheryl. When we came in we were told the wait was around 15-20 minutes, we gave our name and phone number. But they called around 5- 10 minutes. The wait is not long and worth it! We ordered skewers, they were seasoned perfectly. Our server Sheryl was very attentive, very quick at refilling our water. Sheryl was very sweet and explained to us our orders, she was also patient with us when it came to allergies. When our food was ready, they were all ready almost all at once. All the staff was very friendly, attentive, and provided fast service. Definitely going back there again. Thank you for the great service!

Really great experience! Everything we ordered was very delicious (we ordered multiple skewers, ox tail soup, taiwanese rice, shrimp); the only thing that I wouldn't ordered again is the pork skin skewer (not crispy) Good service and would definitely come back again. The only issue is there are only smallish tables in this restaurant.

We chose this restaurant because of the reviews. It’s worth spending 40mins drive there. We ordered beef and lamb skewers, Oyster, kimchi fried rice, very tasty and delighted. Oyster is really something else. Charles is very welcoming, his service makes our enjoyable experience. We’d love to visit again.

Great place to eat Chinese BBQ! We really enjoyed their food. Service was prompt and the food was prepared fresh and tasty! Estelle was the one who was doing the service. Her considerable service makes us feel so comfortable. The lamb & beef skewers are tender and juicy, oyster is our favorite, it's still broiling when we get them! Amazing taste! Will definitely bring friends back again!

A bit on the pricey side, but great for a special occasion. I only tried some of the skewers and the eggplant with garlic, but everything was delicious! I highly recommend the rice cake and king oyster mushroom skewers, and the eggplant.

Such wonderful staff and deliciously seasoned food. Everything tasted so fresh and was full of flavour and spice! Ivy was super friendly and attentive the entire time, will definitely have to visit again soon!

Came here a bit later in the night and it wasn’t too busy. Definitely has more of a bar type atmosphere. It was pretty dark so might be hard to see for some. Food was good, felt like your typical Chinese bbq skewers that’s sprinkled with Chinese 7 spice. Service was great, the person serving us was really attentive and friendly. Can’t say too much about prices as I’m from the states but it seemed reasonable to me.

Our go-to place for Chinese Skewers. Our favourite things to order is the Golden rice and the garlic & butter clams. The service is fantastic as the waitresses are super nice. The vibe of the restaurant is very fun too, dimly lit and loud. It can be difficult to find parking though, and it's a smaller restaurant so if you come during peak times you can expect a wait. They do have a small waiting area as well. You can just browse through their menu and fill in your order though while waiting. We love coming here!

visiting this restaurant one of the best decisions I made this Christmas ❤️❤️❤️ the food was delicious 🤤 the potions was big too the servers are so nice and welcoming 🫶🏻🫶🏻they are the best!! I have been to different locations I would say the vibe and the service here are number 1!! 🥰🥰 they even handed us this hand written card and chocolate 🥺🥺 definitely recommend Chat Bar to all my friends and I will be back more often 🤩🤩

Initially did not realize this place was known for their lamb skewers so I was a bit off put by the smell because I don’t like lamb. But there’s so much more on the menu you can order! I highly recommend the king mushroom skewers, they’re so delicious & the flavours complimented the spices very well. The ribs were a bit more difficult to eat off the skewers but still so yummy! The ambiance of the restaurant makes it a great place to catch up with friends!

The location is at a great place. Close to major public transportation services and highways. The food was delicious. The prices were average and the satff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I would for sure love to visit again and would advise anyone that has not had the experience to go visit them when they can.

We love the food and service for this location. The tables were bit smaller for 6 people. No reservations under a group of 8 people. Overall, great place!

I come here pretty often and I always like their food. Good amount of spice and flavour and always attentive. Great spot for snacking on skewers. Only place in my opinion that gets my cravings to be satisfied!! I always recommend this place to be tried at least once. Great experience at this Chinese-style izakaya. A lot of different options for skewers, and their sides were pretty good, too! Some of them were kinda salty. Pork intestines smell a bit but no big deal. I was a little disappointed with their drinks menu. No Tsingtao (sold out), no beer pitchers. Will come back!

Good place for small bites and skewers. A lot of options and choices. Great place to socialize and snack. When I visited, they did not have some of the drinks on their menu and they did not take credit cards (debit and cash only). Pretty good overall.

Yumm skewers! Specially the Chicken wings with Garlic sauce - it was the delicious! Potatoes slices were kinda just okay though - it tasted good but thr flavor just wasn't for us. Friendly and extremely attentive staff. Overall, Quiet a fun place to get a quick dinner with friends.. They have a unique touch in utensil selection and menus. Definitely going back to try other dishes!

SO so delicious. Really great music. Love that they’re open late. Only thing I gotta say is they should have public wifi, and a more extensive dessert menu.

Asian cuisine, decent ambiance. Food was not as expected. Bbq chicken skewers tasted ok, but the pieces were either soft bones or chewy skin, no actual meat when it was supposed to be boneless chicken pieces. The garlic shrimp gravy tasted fine, but the shrimps were not cleaned. (They were with heads and unpeeled.) The bbq corn was too dry with no taste. Such a disappointing experience.

A bit on the pricier side for the serving amount but it was worth it. I personally liked the veggies even more than the meat skewers! Our server was nice and kindly went over the menu with us :) Oh! And their music playlist rocks!!

The okra, lamb and eggplant were the best. The ox tail and tomato soup was so good, I could drink 5. Daphne was our server and was really nice. Good place to order a bunch of drinks and snack.
