Referred to Gastroenterology Associates by Tricare due to lack of providers at Madigan. I've been dealing with chronic pain and ER visits due to IBS that affects my ability to do my job as an RN. Was hopeful a GI physician could provide more answers and a treatment plan to give me relief. Instead Dr Cummings was 30 minutes late, stated he didn't have time for a full consult, repeatedly interrupted me while trying to answer his questions, was dismissive of my concerns, and finally was very belittling and patronizing of me (stating that all "girls" are concerned about bloating and their figures). I am a 50 year old WOMAN in debilitating pain from the bloating and distension that accompanies my IBS. I don't care about my figure, I want to be pain free and not needing a bathroom constantly. I had brought research from respected medical journals to share, with treatments that have been shown to work, which were ignored. I left with no treatment, only told to continue doing what I've been doing (which isn't working). As a healthcare professional myself, this is exactly the type of "medical professional" that shouldn't be at the bedside. I won't be back, I'm looking for a second opinion with a different provider.

In April of this year I was referred by my primary due to unexplained weight loss, bleeding, pain, etc. He feared cancer. When I called to make the appt, their earliest appt was the end of September. By the time September had come, I had lost an additional 50 lbs (I wasn’t overweight before), was passing out regularly, high heart rate, etc. The Friday before my appt they called and said they needed to reschedule my appt. The earliest date was halfway through November. At this point I asked if I could at least speak to a provider about my symptoms, see if there was anything I could do while waiting for the appointment. They said no. I called my primary who told me to go to the ER. ER don’t said I absolutely couldn’t wait until November so I called my insurance and they were highly upset. They told me the referral had been put in as urgent and by accepting the referral, they should have scheduled me for the initial appt within30 days. Thankfully my insurance found a different GI dr who was able to see me that same week and get me the procedures and tests needed, all before oly gastro could even get me in for the initial consult. I’m afraid that waiting so long has cost me time off my life, if you’re waiting months for an appt, call your insurance and see if you can be seen elsewhere.

I was referred here by my primary care physician due to having severe Crohn’s disease and extreme weight loss. I was able to get an appointment 3 days after I had called. During my visit every staff member was friendly and they even offered a heated blanket since I was wet and cold from the rain. My concerns were taken very seriously and I was scheduled a colonoscopy within 4 days of my visit. During my procedure I was taken very well care of and everyone had an upbeat and positive attitude, which is not something I see very often. 10/10 love this clinic and will continue being a patient here!

It took us 6 months to get into our first appointment to find out that we got to see an LRPN, vs. an MD when this is a life situation. The LRPN, lacked in bed side manner for sure! Then when we got the appointment to do the actual procedure, that can't take place for another 5 months! WOW!!! I just can't believe what we're going through and I truly hope that my husband doesn't die while we hurry up and wait again. Signed, sincerely lost with the medical systems out there right now!

My recent upper GI endoscopy procedure was an excellent experience with staff, nursing, and doctors working as a caring and professional team. My nurse, Sara was the one who first put me at complete ease, and ready for the procedure. She was sweet, funny, and very caring and did an excellent job on my IV. The anesthesiologist, Dennis was top-notch with me awaking clear-headed and ready to go. The doctor, Kathryn Wagner MD listened to all of my concerns and made adjustments to the procedure checking for things that aren't typically checked for. I am grateful to them all!

First colonoscopy. Staff and Doctors are good. Check in lady had a pleasant soft tone voice: Corina. Nurse, she was good and pleasant. The Doctor and the anesthesiologist were good. Overall good experience.

Dr. Wagner has been taking care of my needs since 2009. She's been wonderful and helpful in my care. She fit me in on New Years Eve way back when. I'm glad to have her care through to her last week's before retirement! Have fun in the sun Dr. Wagner! Thank you so much for keeping me healthy.

Great care here. From beginning to end they do an excellent job and make sure you are comfortable. My nurse anesthetist was fantastic. Dr. Brar did a fine job.

I went to Dr Wagner for a colonoscopy years ago and was pleased. I understand she retired about the time Gastro Health, a Florida corporation, acquired the business. I received a colonoscopy from Dr Brar recently and was pleased with the procedure. Gastro Health has customer service and billing that is closer to dishonest than to incompetent. They sent a bill for the amount disallowed by Medicare, without a means to explain their mistake to them. Several components of their charges are rejected by the insurance companies (I have two insurers, so my part is $0), but they bill anyway. From BBB reviews, it seems they bill more than a year after the fact. I hope that doesn't happen to me. I couldn't write to them, except to the place where they only remove the check from the envelope. I couldn't call their billing office, if they have one. They have a call center, whose location they refused to reveal, but I believe it is offshore. Personnel do not speak English clearly and are not helpful.

I had a very good experience here. Dr. Wagner is, kind, caring, explained things simply and was professional. Her nurse Dolly was excellent. She made me feel comfortable and was caring. She is one of the best nurses I have ever had. I would highly recommend Dr. Wagner and her staff to others.

My partner had procedures done here and everyone was very friendly and respectful! For my partner’s first time going through these procedures today, I’m glad it was here! The nurse (lady with blonde hair) debriefed with me over the instructions of discharge on what was exactly completed thoroughly and showed consideration towards my partners expressed concerns! Overall, great experience and deserve recognition!

My first colonoscopy recently. Can no longer trust my farts. J/K. Staff is very attentive. My gastro health care has been nothing but super thorough, and in the hands of Stephanie, my preventative treatments and consultations have been reassuring and informative. Thanks to all the staff for their knowledge and thoughtful aftercare.

After an intense two years of medical emergencies and ongoing problems, it's a breath of fresh air to be able to easily communicate, be informed, have an easy procedure, receive great follow-up, and have medical care that truly cares on all levels. I am extremely appreciative of the efforts of everyone I've seen or interacted with at Gastro Health.

Decor and lighting of the place is the only nice thing about this place. I never saw the same provider or MA twice. The first provider I saw Maddie was amazing. However the provider I saw for my follow must not have read my chart as she was reading for a majority of the appointment. She also never gave me more of an explanation than, “there were significant changes” and, “there was a polyp but we do t know if it was a polyp” and that was after a nearly $500 pathology bill. When I asked for further clarification she just repeated the same thing. I was incredibly disappointed by the service especially after not finding out why I’m so sick.

They called me to schedule an appointment for my referral that my doctor sent over. I asked if they could find out if they were a preferred for provider for my insurance company the lady explained to me that wasn't her job. I indicated that I did not want to be out of network with surprise charges. No customer service what's over the lady was pretty rude to be honest. If you hate your job, just quit do us all a favor- Ever notice that it's the grown adults that complain about the younger generation being totally entitled, yet those same grown adults tend to be the most entitled of them all! Do your job, it's not that hard!

I have been waiting for a long time for my appointment. Waiting for months in excruciating pain and having other severe issues issues. They called a month early to cancel my appointment and then asked me to wait two more months for my appointment. I am a severe case and should be seeing somebody immediately because I'm bleeding. Very unprofessional. Very uncaring and they had no good excuses to why. The secretary that called was in fact rude and the most unhelpful when it came to my questions as to why. with the pain that I am the only excuse is death. So unless somebody's family member died and if they did get me an appointment with somebody else because there's a whole team of you. You guys are very unprofessional and uncaring

There is a complete lack of follow through at this place. People make promises they don’t come close to keeping. I had a colonoscopy that couldn’t be completed because of some sort of blockage. But we do know that I have a good sized polyp. The Dr said he would have his staff call me and set up an office visit to discuss our options. They did not. So three weeks later I called them. His Calendar was full until the end of the year and his calendar for next year was not set up. When I explained the issue the scheduler said she would make a note and call me when his calendar opened up. She did not. Three weeks later when I called the earliest I could get in was the end of February. Do NOT depend on these folks to do as they say. Call repeatedly until you get what you need.

I was a little bit gun-shy after reading several of the reviews here, but decided to go ahead with an appointment because this is where my insurance sent me to. Being that I didn't get a call after my referral had gone through, I stopped by because I was in the area. It was easy to set up my initial consultation, and saw Dr. Owens. He immediately put me at ease and I felt comfortable discussing my issue. I was able to book the recommended prodecure only a couple weeks out. Everything on the day of my procedure went like butter. From Stacy, who admitted me, to Justin (I think his name was) my anesthesiologist, and Sarah who discharged me.....all were friendly, helpful, gave me plenty of opportunity to ask questions, and I was treated very kindly. Dr. Owens was knowledgeable and efficient, referred to the notes of our initial consultation, and was good humored. I never felt like I was being rushed in and out, or that nobody knew why I was there. The instructions given to me regarding my procedure were crystal clear. A follow up appointment was made before the procedure, which isn't until the beginning portion of next year, because of a shortage of doctors. At least I knew it up front so was not surprised. My experience was much better than I had anticipated. So far, I would recommend this place to my friends and family. For me, it was a good experience.

Not friendly girl after procedure was very rude just since I was having a hard time with recovering, walking and talking and she was not nice about it all and made me feel like I was ridiculous. Was very surprised on how rude she was. Also made a phone call for a follow up and it sounded like it was the same girl and she was very rude again! Very disappointed, especially since the place is very nice besides that.

For my pre appt, without any conversation on the way out, doc handed me a weight loss pamphlet. I'd be okay with it if she had discussed it in the appt or if she was even my normal physician but found that to be completely rude. Especially being women's size 14; it's not like I'm obese. For my actual procedure, they didn't communicate at all about pregnancy risks; so I showed up dehydrated and they told me to do a pregnancy test and I had no pee, as proper for my procedure. This led to me being incredibly distressed. The nurse who put the IV in had it in incorrectly, I've had IVs before and they never hurt so bad. They asked me to turn on my side for my procedure and the IV hurt so bad I cried trying to turn. Pricing for the procedure was also unclear and not discussed; I thought I paid everything upfront and kept getting new bills for a few hundred $ every few weeks. Pre procedure area looks like it was built in the 60's and never updated; nothing but curtains separating approx 50 patients. You could hear everyone and their misery.

They will not call you back and kept my wife stressing over an appt. Very rude on the phone as they want to get off the phone for the next call. Of course we had no choice but to go to them with Tricare ins. Very rude and rushing everything they do. If given a choice we would go with Tacoma assn because they call you back and make sure you understand

I was hesitant tO give this place a try do to the bad reviews but I was willing to give it a chance due to how awful my symptoms were. After all, with any doctors office, everyone can have a different experience. I for one have nothing but good things to say about my experience here. Madi, my ARNP has done wonders for me as an IBS patient, and has been awesome to work with. Please give this place a try, it was more than worth it for me.
