One stop on our tour of the Midwest was Nebraska and while in Omaha another museum was on this agenda. This museum is small yet packs a powerful informative historical punch as it relates to Lewis & Clark hence the name. You can view the museum and gift shop before or after you take a walk across the pedestrian from Nebraska to Iowa as the Missouri River flows underneath. The view from the bridge is nice and there is a good view of downtown Omaha. Before beginning your walk across the bridge don’t forget to scan the bar at the beginning of the bridge for an interactive experience.

What a fun and beautiful walk that includes history along with the expansive views of Omaha, NE from the Iowa side and Council Bluffs, Iowa from the Nebraska side! It’s a short 1.8 kilometers! Orrrrr 1.12 miles in Nebraskan/Iowan language!

Located on first floor of building. Open most days. Lots of data points. Super knowledgeable staff. Really neat interactive nature paths just outside building with colorful data points. Clean modern wildlife theme/vibe. Lots of brochures available. Small interactive area for children & gift shop inside too. Not crowded, not busy.

We didn’t realize that there’s National park service center here in Omaha. To our surprise, there were wealthy information about Lewis and Clark trail available here. The park ranger was helpful and knowledgeable. There were plenty of sample items from back in the day to see. Parking was plentiful up front. If you have time, there’s a nice walking trail around the building.

Enjoyed my short stop very much. However for such a large building/facility I thought it would be much more of an exhibit for Lewis and Clark…..one hallway , but the information and collection there is very informative and fascinating. The walk on the bridge over the river is totally cool and highly recommend!

They enforce a parking lot curfew that starts at 10pm till 5am! They post a barricade at the entrance at 10pm too.

It's literally HQ for the trail which means is mostly for the staff and coordination. There's a small exhibit and a gift store. The ranger was very friendly and helpful.

I was excited to visit the site, but as a headquarters, it's mostly office space. There's a small exhibit on the ground floor, but not much else. It's a good place to park if you want to explore the riverfront, but other than that, it's really just a quick stop...

I loved the scerney on the bridge. I wish the visitors center had more stuff to see though. Nice little water area for kids to play in. I liked the Buffalo exhibit as well explaining the uses of Buffalo parts and real Buffalo parts for the visual.

An absolute must do attraction to be able to see the skyline and do a moonlight stroll with someone special. Great for kids as well to get some energy out and go to one end to the other and back.

Fantastic little place. I stopped here on the Nebraska passport trail. It is a small museum but has plenty of fun and interesting things. It would be great for kids. They even have a costume dress up so you can dress like Lewis and Clark. They have a map showing the expedition route. The most interesting thing was the collection of animal skulls and fur. You get to see all the different kinds of critters that live in the area. I would highly recommend checking the little museum out if you are heading to the pedestrian bridge.

Relatively small museum aspect. It is right next to the pedestrian bridge, why not walk in, but it truly is just a hallway and some bathrooms. Nothing much to see. I did read what they had and it was interesting, but very small.

Nice stop. Fun to do the bridge. Free parking. Junior ranger program. Great selection of park maps and info for probably 80-100 other parks

Not much to do here as a visitor. Has a couple neat maps and some replica artifacts to peek at.

This was so much fun! They have so much information and so much to do. You can play with animal tracks, dress up as Lewis & Clark, earn a Junior Ranger pin, play on the statues outside, and walk the pedestrian bridge. We spent much more time there than I expected. The rangers were all very nice to us. Very knowledgeable and willing to help in any way they can. My only complaint is that a pin we bought in the gift shop had a crooked back, so make sure you check pins before you buy them if this matters to you. Overall, a great experience. We will be back. :-)

Better than some of the reviews are saying. There is a hallway of exhibits and a wall of brochures for all the national parks and national park units in the Midwest (including Arkansas apparently). The rangers can even get you brochures for units and parks not in the Midwest! There are a number of display boards out front and back. Free parking is provided and from the visitor center you can walk along the river and walk across a nice bridge into Iowa!

I've been to a lot of Lewis and Clark visitor centers, this one is nice but one of the smallest I've seen. They did have some important artifacts, though, to include some surveying equipment and the sextant they used. Also, a photo of an Oregon beach is mislabeled. It's labeled as Cannon Beach, but it's actually a picture of Crescent Beach with Cannon Beach in the background. It's worth the stop if you're a fan of history.

There were a few exhibits, they had lots of info and a neat film about Lewis and Clark

The park staff was very friendly and helpful here. I also picked up my America The Beautiful National Park Pass while here. There's a nice interactive display of artifacts and the location along the Missouri River is great for taking pictures.

If you're looking for a little FREE something to do on the Riverfront by the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge, this is a nice stop. Interesting information, some cool displays and a clean public bathroom. I'd give it 5 stars if it was bigger. Plan on 30 minutes or less for a visit.
