When in doubt, head to Andrew Hayden. Honestly not many places in Ottawa with scenic views and beautiful sunset. You can walk here, plan a picnic with your friends and family, play with your little ones or just take a picnic chair and relax looking at waterfront and setting sun. One thing to be warned about it the parking is limited and sometimes challenging to find a spot. Enjoy the park, cleanup after you are done and be respectful to others around you. Cheers.

Hubby and I were at the park only because there was event that we had heard if. It was late evening and visibility was low. Despite the fact that we could not see much it was still a sight to behold. I took some photos of the amazing landscape. We will definitely be back in the day or early evening to get a better view. However evening is still very lovely. We were surprised to see that there were many people like us out walking around and enjoying themselves—particularly dog walkers, families and people with strollers—as there are plenty of paths. We were there to attend a swing dance event put in by the ottawa swing dance society in the pavilion on the water. I’ve included videos of the event, which is every Friday in the summer from 7-10 pm. A very friendly and inclusive bunch!

The best park to spend some quality time with nature. It’s huge and you can have space to enjoy picnic with your friends, roam around and do cycling, can have ME time, can do kayaking and what not. Who wouldn’t love to be here I mean!!🧡

Love this place. The views are so peaceful and breath taking that just keeps bringing me back. On the weekend it wasn’t as busy as Britannia for example which was nice. It does get busy but not packed and there was space. There’s no swimming so don’t bring your shorts instead head to Britannia. Great place to walk or bike or play with a family. Neat hidden waterfall (check photos) Here’s all the photos I took:)

A beautiful and scenic park near waterfront great for a walk, biking or having a picnic. The landscape and walking paths along the river are beautifully designed. A lot of geese and mallards inhibit the two ponds inside the park which are fun to watch for young kids. There are plenty of benches along the trails to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset view over the Ottawa river. Parking is free as well. Overall a very nice park to relax and enjoy for the entire family.

A beautiful park with lots of shades and opportunities for outdoor activities. A couple play grounds, paved walking trails, bike bath (next to road), lots of trees offering shade, beautiful views of the ottawa river. A great place for a picnic with friends and family.

Great park for exploring along the "coast" 2 play grounds (that we saw, one for Tinys one for toddlers) and lots of great places to sit with friends and chat with room to spare.

This park is a gem and a walk along soothes the mind and soul. Pleasant to stroll along the Ottawa river and enjoy the serenity and smiling faces along the trail. With plenty of parking spots, benches and proximity to the Napean sail club, one can never go wrong with this park. Furry babies will love it as well! Anytime is a good time to be here!!

Stunning park with variety of ways to entertain yourself. Amazing trails inside the park, along the wetlands, along the river and most impressive - one of the trail leads to sailing boat in a view AND to a light house :), water falls, BBQ pits, playground, splash pad and more. Kids can swim and play in the water too (not like Petrie Island, but still). Place for all occasions - birthday parties, wedding, or even other occasions. Amazing place for photo shoot as well. Overall, its a place for the entire family.

This is one of my favourite spots in the city. You actually feel like you're in a cute little coastal town because you get to see the gorgeous river and all of the sail boats (in the summertime). My kiddo absolutely loves watching the geese and ducks as we walk around the little ponds. She also enjoys the play structures and visiting friends. If you are looking for a fun afternoon, pack a lunch, bring your dog(s), meetup with friends/family, read a book, listen to music, bring your kids, etc. Wear extra warm winter accessories (gloves, hat, etc) if you come here during the winter time because the wind is very strong/cold as it blows off the open water.

Such an amazing park with scenery views! The best place for biking, hiking, picnic, and barbecue! Comes with playgrounds for kids, and public restrooms. My first time there for a festival but definitely not my last visit. The sunset view in this park is stunning … 😍

One of Ottawa's hidden treasures. It's location is not overtly advertised and has a modest entry point, but once you get past the parking lot there are some beautifully landscaped walking paths along the river. There is a lot to see, including pond areas where wildlife and toy sailboat enthusiasts can be observed. There are many benches to sit on and the area is friendly to children with a splash pad area for those hotter days. It is also wheelchair accessible and the pathways are paved for easier maneuverability. What a great spot to visit. *If you like my reviews, kindly share and click like.

Andrew Heydon Park is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. Its peaceful ambiance, lush greenery, and scenic lake make it an ideal urban retreat. The well-maintained paths are perfect for a leisurely stroll, and the vibrant flora adds a touch of tranquility. Whether you're looking for a quiet escape or a place to enjoy a picnic by the water, Andrew Heydon Park offers a delightful haven away from the urban hustle. My favourite!

Nice spot to walk around.....there is an abundance of birds and if it hasnt rained in a few days they can leave a pretty big mess so watch where you are walking. Other than that great views, relatively quiet space, lots of areas for families and kids to play, a couple of play structures, picnic tables, public bbqs. Great spot to watch the sail boats as the sailing club is right next door. No swimming.

Great place to spent time with the family a way from everything. This place is so pretty each spots there is a stress relief . Great place to watch the geese and their goslings. Nice paths for kids to ride their bikes, walk, there is a play ground as well. Places for picnic and BBQ overlooking a lake with great views sometimes it’s crowded. We love the place.

Went for a bbq but there were few bbqs available luckily we had ours with us. Washrooms are closed, no volleyball nets or place to setup one. Great place for picnic though but consider to come prepared with your chair and table.

So beautiful view and every spot is amazing and takes you in different world. Today we had a dinner at the bench near the water. The sunset was mind blowing. Captured all the beauty and sharing with you.I am speechless 🙊 . Do find this bench, this bench gives you the wonderful views. So many trees 🌳 to gave you shade. After dinner the duck parade was also a good experience for kids.

I loved the park. Though I visited the park in winter and could not spend much time in open, I am sure to have a family picnic as soon as temperatures go up and we can spend outdoor time in warm atmosphere. The surroundings are clean and people come here to have a walk or exercise or play around. I even saw a group of people gathering, must be some sort of community. The water is clean and one can even enjoy boat rides in summer.

A nice place to just sit down and relax but it is usually very crowded, even though there is a pandemic going on people just come here with large groups. If you go on a weekday that would be a wise choice since it’s a really nice place. There are quite a lot of geese on summer but they don’t bother you and you should never try to feed them. Overall a nice park

Beautiful park with the view of the Ottawa river, great place to go for walks or have a picnic on one of the many benches or just lay a mat on the grass. Only issue is during the summer time there are a lot of geese and they leave a mess behind almost everywhere. Other than that great park.

  • 5/5 Monica F. 3 years ago on Google
It Is a walking park with beautiful views and memorials and many entrances, not a picnic park...not set up for that in the area I was in, although it is a large park - perhaps at the other end, I entered further west. It is a lovely park to go for a nice walk.

One of the most beautiful parks in Ottawa, next to the Ottawa river. The park is connected to a sailing club through trails. It has unforgettable view during sunsets. Colorful sails on the river, Canadian goose families, water fountains over ponds, wooden bridges connecting trails, and a light house at the tip of bay area. Popular place for a nice walk along the river after a family picnic. Often there are variety of activities in summer, ranging from Canada day celebration to shows.
