My stomach is full with the delicious biryani and okra veg curry. It was a bit oily but taste was nice. Loved the biryani specially. It had curd as well. Ordered first time from here and it didn’t disappoint us. Would like to dine there again and try different dishes. Give it a try.

Had heard quite a bit about this restaurant so I decided to try it out with a friend. As we arrived , the restaurant was half empty on a Sunday midday. We decided to order 2 dishes to share and some nan. Decore is plein, with some basic carved wood panels on the sides. Table top acrylic protector is a nice touch for easy cleaning. All dishes starting minimum $19.95 and the potion is small!!! Not to mention it does not come with rice. Need to order $5 extra for a small portion. Nan $5-7 …….. spent over $68 before tips ……. For 2 main plates with rice and nan. Definitely not worth it cause the lamb curry was not even that flavourful ……. Very disappointed. Over priced Indian food……. Will not be back here again.

Editing my review to add that we have ordered another time and the portions were a lot better. They were properly filled and had a sprinkle of cilantro- something our first order didn’t have. Excellent Indian restaurant with one of the best butter chickens in town. We have now tried the restaurant a handful of times and I noticed the portions are never consistent. Sometimes the container is filled as expected and other times it’s only half filled. Sometimes there an adequate amount of chicken, other times there’s only a couple of pieces. I tried Taj after seeing many influencers speak highly of the restaurant and while the food was good, unfortunately they miss the mark when it comes to portion sizes. I do hope the owners provide consistency as we plan on supporting this restaurant very often.

Recently we hosted an engagement party for my vegan daughter and her fiance and we ordered most of the food from Taj. Indu, the owner/manager, was incredibly helpful both with ordering quantities of food and in the selection of tasty vegan options. The food was amazing! My guests continued to comment long after the event about how good the food was. Taj was super generous in their servings and we really received top value for our money. I would highly recommend Taj Indian Cuisine both for family dining and for larger events. - Margaret

Very very disappointed. I had food at this restaurant many years ago and it was the best Indian food I’ve ever had. I would rave about it to my boyfriend. We just moved to Ottawa and I had to have it again and honestly I have to say it’s the worst chana masala I’ve ever had. 2 inch layer of oil on the top, the wrong colour, tasted burnt, inedible. Butter chicken was alright, very acidic and not what I remember at all. Won’t be getting food here again. I spend 80$ on my food for it to be thrown out.

Good tasting food, but there were some issues: We had ordered takeout but our rice was forgotten. Can't eat all that curry without rice so we had to drive all the way back to pick it up. Once we opened all the food I was sadly surprised at how small the portions were. For $140 I was expecting enough food to feed my family of four. It was barely enough. The platters had plenty of sauce but only a few morsels of chicken or beef in each dish. While the sauce was tasty, there wasn't enough meat to satisfy my sons. In summary, the food was flavourful, but portions were not substantial enough to justify the price. Anyone can make a mistake and forget something in an order, but it really affects the experience when you have to drive all the way back, and the food is all cold by the time you sit down to eat. Too bad, I was hoping to like this place.

The quality of the food is excellent, all meats were cooked to perfection. The lamb was very good quality as it didn't have that after taste you get sometimes but what blew my socks off was the tandoori. I've had it many times but nowhere near as good here. Highly recommend!

The server suggested things that we did not want, like suggesting to buy more things than we needed. More naan and more rice namely. It came off as trying to get as much money out of us as possible. The meat in our dishes were dry and not very good. Prices are a few dollars more than other similar indian places. Probably not coming back with other options in Ottawa.

The place is pricey meaning $10/$13 dollars more per plate for a specific dish but the portion size was good and taste was amazing. I would recommend at least try it once. Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Bhunna are the best!

The food was just okay, I have had better paneer makhni and chaat papdi before. Told them to make the paneer makhani spicy, and it was not spicy at all and definitely not worth $22. Chaat papdi for $13, and there was not much to it in terms of flavour or quantity, so seemed unreasonable to me.

Very, very delicious butter chicken. Loved the flavour, and the hot version was a good heat. Bf picked up the order and told me the staff was very friendly and kind. I'm surprised anyone complains about the pricing. Their prices are very average to other great home-run Indian restaurants. Being a home restaurant and using fresh/good ingredients isn't cheap. Thank you for the wonderful meal, my boyfriend and I will be back!

I order here from Uber eats sometimes, and the quality of the food is inconsistent. Sometimes it’s delicious, but the past two times I’ve ordered the food has been very bland. I’m not sure if they have different cooks in the afternoon/night, but I noticed that whenever I order around lunch time it’s not very good… other than being spicy it lacks flavour & is very watery. Disappointed as I spent over $40 for this meal that I ate five bites of and don’t even want to finish. Will likely avoid in the future :(

Food is great and staff are very freindly. The only disappointement is they sell alcohol. We basically came because it's Halal restaurant so right there was a big trust shaker. When muslims see wine bottles it makes them wonder if the owners really care about halal and haram...

Very delicious butter chicken, I really enjoyed it with rice and the garlic naan was amazing too. Overall, good quality and portions :)

Decided to give this spot a try based on reviews, it is definitely on the pricier side but portions are very generous. I definitely had high hopes. For 3 people with delivery we spent about 130$ but unfortunately the food did not live up to my expectations or the price. The chicken dhansak was good, spice level was hot and it was well seasoned but very watery. The butter chicken dish was extremely under seasoned and watery and the garlic naan was well sized but so soggy, it was almost uncomfortable to eat. Overall not the best experience.

Superb quality food. We recently had a real good experience of catering fora birthday party from Taj Indian Cuisine. The owner not only provided great quality food, age appropriate for the people for whom it’s made (as majority were kids), but also made sure to adjust the price / menu to fit the budget. On the menu, Samosa was sprinkled with a special spice, making it a nice treat! They also added a special surprise dish of potatoes on top of the full order that was liked by kids and adults alike. All the guests reported that the kids ate well, so needless to say the adults enjoyed it thoroughly too. I’ll be very glad to recommend Taj Indian Cuisine.

We've order for takeout before and really enjoyed it but it's even better fresh in house. The garlic naan is to die for and we love the saag paneer. We tried a few new dishes this time and no matter the dish, it is truly delicious. Props to the chef!

We tried Taj Indian Cuisine for the first time tonight. Incredible! The food was so flavourful and they did a great job working around my allergies. The price point was about the same as any Indian restaurant in Ottawa. We spent $100 on 3 main dishes, rice, 3 garlic naan and 2 parathas which is incredibly reasonable. The servings are huge and will definitely get a second and possibly third meal out of them. It's great to find a place that offers such a variety of vegan and vegetarian options.

I loved their food always. Their biryani is nice. It taste different, not exactly as a biryani. But it taste good for some reason. The food is good. They have a lot of vegetarian dishes as well. Little bit pricy but it’s good.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was great. We were a group of 4 and were accommodated despite not having any reservations. We were also in a hurry to go elsewhere and they did their best to serve us quickly, always with a smile. Would definitely go again if we're in the area!

The food we ordered took two hours to prepare for pick up and while we were told it would take 40-50 minutes. This was unfortunate, but understandable as restaurants can become very busy suddenly. The bit that bothered me was not having any communication from the staff while I sat in the restaurant waiting for over 45 minutes. The staff seemed to deal exclusively with the Skip the Dishes and Door Dash deliveries, meaning, as someone who called in their order directly I was treated differently. I suspect the reason is that those Apps and Services create pressure on the owners if the orders do not move out quickly. Having said that, the butter chicken gravy was good, not great, and the lamb vindaloo the better dish, as the meat seemed more flavourful. Would have been 4/5 stars if the issues around the wait for pick up had been more clearly communicated. I had to wait for an hour and ten minutes in the restaurant before I had my meal, and, this was after waiting 50 minutes before driving in.

The reviews are very misleading. The service is horrible. I went to get some authentic Indian food for lunch. First of all, the waiter was very off putting the moment i entered. I asked her what's the best option for lunch - she indicated that there's a lunch option thats not on the menu. I said okay, it sounds good, I'll have that. She went to put in the order, only to return and said I cannot dine and eat if I choose that option, I would have to take it to go. I told her, I want to sit and have lunch. She said then I'd have to order something directly from the menu. I was willing to sit and have something for lunch, that was the whole point. But because of how unprofessional and off putting these people were, I got up and left and did not bother to spend my money. I would never go back. ZERO RATING FROM ME.

Amazing service and even better food! The service staff were so friendly and considerate. This place is a favourite for my family; we order here all the time when we have something to celebrate or when we want a fun night together. The garlic naan and butter chicken is p h e n o m e n a l. Couldn't recommend more!

Best chicken samosas in this city. Very authentic and the seasoning on the outside is a gift. I've ordered through delivery and the quality still arrived like an in dining experience. The butter chicken is famous for a reason. Wow!! My order was a bit tailored and even without calling they provided all my requests. I've been inside and it really has an ancient feel. Very welcoming and again I can not stress the quality in flavour. I had the chicken biriyani and it too was a hit. They really know thier stuff. Definitely a gem.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Ottawa. If you would like to go easy on spices then go for mild. Even medium is very spicy. Delicious food in general. Moderate place to dine-in tough.

I asked them which one was their best dish, and they recommended the Butter Chicken plate with naan bread and white rice. I was not disappointed at all! The food was incredibly tasty and flavorful, especially the Butter Chicken and its sauce. If you're looking for the best Butter Chicken in Ottawa, this is the restaurant you should go.

I haven’t ordered Indian food very often but this has been the best experience by far! They have so many vegan and vegetarian options and while ordering on Uber Eats, they even had pictures for the majority of the dishes. This was super helpful as i wasn’t familiar with the names of the dishes and it gave me an idea of what i was ordering! Once the food arrived, i was in awe. The portion size was wonderful and very filling! They even had a buy 1 get 1 free special on the garlic naan which was delicious and complimented the dish i ordered. 10/10 would recommend! 😄

Food wasn't really great for the price. Tried Samosa chat and mango lassie.my friends tried chat papdi, mango juice.. all of them were average in taste. In addition, the air conditioning wasn't working today so it was really tough to dine in. Furthermore, we were only a small group of girls dining in.rest of the tables were empty, but the restaurant people were rushing us to complete our eating and paying bills, which we didn't like because we were all in between conversations and eating.

This is definitely my favourite Indian restaurant in the city! The food is always consistent, food portions and flavourful. They have never gotten my order wrong and have always respected my spice level requests :) Amazing place and I’ll always be ordering from here every time I get Indian food.
