Avoid this clinic at all costs, or it will cost you and your pet! The only capable vet there is Dr. Wright but we unfortunately didn’t have him all the time. Let me preface this by saying I’m an incredibly neurotic dog owner and will do whatever I can for my dog. We have a 4.5 year old dog that’s been going there since he was a puppy. Initially things started off great…first incident, our dog slipped on the ice at 10 months old and was given Metacam and sent home. Assured it wasn’t serious and the medication helped so I figured they were right. Noticed a limp off and on every few months after a big play so at every visit we would mention the limp, we were always told it didn’t seem to be anything to worry about, so we didn’t. Let me tell you, it was very subtle but there every now and then. Brought it up AGAIN at his physical in the spring asked if we should do x-rays but was referred to a physiotherapist. I trusted them so that’s what we did. The physiotherapist took one look at my dog and said “you need x-rays right away”. Made the x-ray appointment (at $900.00), had to wait 10 days. Within that week my dog was very off and I could tell his leg was bothering him. I called and said I was dropping him off immediately for x-rays. They agreed but then didn’t do them!!?? Sent him home with fluids. I was livid. Waited for x rays. Oh, we got them and his left knee was in desperate need for TPLO surgery…and now the right knee was starting to go as well, I’m assuming due to overcompensating. I cried my eyes out at the clinic out of pure frustration and sadness for my dog when I picked him up; who knows how long he was in pain for. Receptionists just stared at me and said nothing. Zero compassion. Absolutely devastated at how much advocating I had to do for my dog and my gut was right, they just didn’t take it seriously. Mom guilt over here but I trusted they knew what they were doing-they DIDN’T. Also bought into their VCA monthly plan which is an absolute joke; why do these plans exist they don’t do anything when you bring your dog in!! Just take my money monthly to do the bare minimum! He’s now 7 weeks post op and doing great. We’ve switched vets, new vet clinic also had to follow up 4 times to get copies of his x-rays. Average cost of one leg is 8k with physio meds etc…and a full 6 month recovery per leg. Perhaps the back right could have been spared and all this pain avoided if they did their job properly, more thoroughly and took my concerns seriously the first time. Pure negligence has cost me $16,000 +, and a full year with my dog while he recovers from each leg surgery.

I brought my seizing 3 year old cat here as an emergency since they are close to our home last Thursday morning when they first open. I was greeted by a robot that was more interested in the days scheduled appointments than my pleas that if we go further in traffic to the OVH as she suggested in morning traffic my cat might die with more seizures. There was no doctor on duty they tried to contact 2 doctors and were not available. We go as she told us to the Ottawa Animal hospital on Boyd Ave. We were stuck in morning traffic and my cat, had 4 more seizures. When we arrived at the OAH, they gave us the grim news our little guy might not make it. He stayed overnight and died 24 hours after being admitted. If the Kanata Animal Hospital had acted quickly to admit him and give him the care he needed our beautiful little boy would still be here with us. RIP little soul, your mommy and daddy did their best to try and save you. We love you always and will miss you every day of our lives.

Not my primary vet however they were able to make a same day appt for me, then an hour later called to say they had an even earlier opening. Vet tech met me outside, very friendly. Vet was also friendly, knowledgeable and offered advice. All covid precautions enforced properly. Price was more than reasonable, expected to pay more. Thinking about making my primary vet.

Anyone who feels that KAH is not overpriced has not been anywhere else. I just moved from Kanata to east Ottawa, went to a new Vet and what I paid $349 at KAH last year cost me $181.93 today. Go figure. Kanata Animal Hospital over charges.....save money....shop around!

Double charging ,They called me asking to repaid the bill a seconds times and after explaining and showing the receipt they got mad and told me to never come again? The secretary is so rude and never let you ask a question without interupting and having a passive aggressive attitude.I can't beleive they are still in business, wow!

They helped me save my cat Boo. They advised euthanasia since the chances were doubtful and they were honest about costs and chances of recovery. I chose to try my own plan in consultation with the vet and my cat did survive... but I really appreciate that they did not take advantage of the situation and try to be pushy about the sales of expensive treatments that had little likelihood of success. They were honest and compassionate. In my case I took a gamble on my cat who was already close to death and they helped me develop a very affordable treatment plan as a last ditch effort to save her. It worked for me, but it won't work for everyone. I'd recommend this place for anyone with a sick animal they care about. Update: 3yrs later and Boo is still very healthy going on her 13th year of life.

Horrible insensitive people! That squeeze desperate pet owners for every cent they have. My cat was in an emergency situation. They knew after 1 test that there was no cure. But kept saying 1 more test.. 1 more test.. $1000 later. I was 16 at the time, and they knew that. No only did the squeeze my out of money. When she passed they came in trying to upsell on urns, paw prints, etc. Come on!!! Luckily my mom was there or I would have sold my car and got everything I could have to remember her. I'm not the only one there are past reviews.. NEVER GO THERE

As a first time dog mom I had a lot of questions and concerns. The vet as well as all the staff were extremely knowledgable and patient with me. I signed up with their puppy care plan and I could not be more thrilled. I just went in for a free nail trimming as part of the plan and was greeted by super friendly faces who already knew her name from memory! I also love the fact that I opted in to text reminders!

I have multiple animals that been seen here and I have always loved the service that my babies have gotten! They really care and it's obvious. The front line staff always remember my dogs when I walk in and they have been incredible when I've had emergencies in the past. They do text reminders for appointments which is so convenient. Nothing negative to say!

Everyone is wonderful here from the front desk staff to the vet techs to the vets. My cats and I love Dr. Ashdown. She has the perfect personality for her profession and is very knowledgeable and compassionate. It is a little pricey but it's worth it for the excellent service provided.

We have used the Kanata Animal Hospital for 15+ years. During that time, the staff have always been knowledgeable, skilled and empathetic in their care of our dogs, Charlie and Rosie - both who loved visiting the clinic. We, particularly, appreciated the care provided by Dr. Adams, the technicians and the front desk receptionists (esp. Lorelli). They were compassionate in all they did for us. The only downside was the cost of our dogs' care (both have now passed on). In this regard, we will take out an insurance plan to cover some of the dogs' care. Aside from this, we do not hesitate to recommend the Kanata Animal Hospital.

I think the reason a lot of people rate poorly for vet hospitals is because they don't understand that health care costs money. You can't expect someone to save your dying cat for 0 dollars. This is a great hospital, they helped us with our cats nails and saved us in a pinch when we needed a bag a food :) great hard working staff.

Wonderful place to bring your pet. We were travelling/moving across Canada and had some concerns about our little dog. Stopped in here as they were on the same street as our hotel. They told us they could squeeze us in in about an hour’s time. We were happy with that and came back after checking into our hotel. The vet gave our dog a thorough examination. The staff that work there are amazing and very caring. Thank you so much Kanata Animal Hospital. You put our minds at ease and we were so happy we stopped in there. Awesome work!

Do not go here. They overcharge for everything. Any VCA clinic is a sham and overcharge you every time. Not to mention I got an open pill bottle with one pill missing and they didn't do anything about it. If you're in Kanata, do yourself a favour and go to the Carp Road Animal Hospital. If you don't mind the drive go to the Westboro Animal hospital. Bottom line, don't go here, you can get compassion and caring at better places.

I brought my mini schnauzer here for acupuncture lol, imagine that! It was for his degenerative disc syndrome. He went from unable to move and turn his head to running around in circles in half an hour. Imagine Alta vista hospital told me I had to spend 7500$ on surgery or put him down! The acupuncture was 85$per session and I did four sessions. I was hysterical beside myself thinking my dog would suffer for life or be gone from us, until I googled his problem and found out about acupuncture. Actually the lady who performed his acupuncture did an article in the paper about it which is how I found her! Thank goodness. Poor lil guy.

took our 8week old puppy for her first check up and vaccinations and was very pleased with them, our puppy seen Lisa Ashdown and she is great highly recommend VCA Kanata our experience was perfect and they answered all of our questions and concerns, after looking into alot of vets I am glad we decided on this one in particular, just keep an eye on your puppy I think the girls there tried to run off with her but who wouldn't she is adorable Thanks again VCA Kanata and for the few complaining about price one motto to live by good service isn't cheap and cheap service isn't good.. if you own a dog then you take on the responsibility of the cost if that is not something you can afford then just maybe a pet is not for you.

My dog was cut by groomer. This was the only vet who would tend to our dog out of 5 near west end and stitrsville. That included our regular vet " small animal clinic main st. Stittsville. They trialed immediately, then put 3 stitches after a 2.5-hour wait. $400.00. Returned 10 days later to have stitches removed. No charge. The only problem is that they are an emergency hospital only. When located on Bpyd Ave they also had regular vet services.

Dr Wright, Dr Gold and staff provide excellent care of my two cats! Both cats have had health issues in 2021 and the vets, techs and office staff have ensured I have been well informed, had visits with the vet, in a timely manner, as needed. I have signed up for the VCA pet care plan so I can pay a monthly fee and receive the annual services I need to ensure my pets' good health, I.e. shots, checkup, etc. I have the plan including dental care for my cat that requires it. For example, Dental cleaning starts at $800 so I am grateful to be able to pay that fee back on a monthly basis. Both cats are on prescription food so I have signed up for the online food ordering service Mollies.ca so I can have their vet recommended food delivered to my door. I am very happy with the care and services provided

Staffs are irresponsible and rude, called a couple times to ask for the hard copy of the rabies report for my dog. First they told me they only have the electronic copy from the lab, the lab has the hard copy. So I called the lab in Manhattan, and the lab was confused, because they usually Fedex the hard copy to the vet clinic, so the vet clinic should have it ready for me. Then I called the clinic again, and he said he’s not 100% sure, and I asked him if they ever get hard copies from the lab, he said no( which is a lie, because they have received the hard copy a day before sending me the scanned copy through email, the staff from the lab provided a tracking number for me), and would ask the manager. So I decided to drive to the clinic to see what’s going on. The staff at the front desk told me they’ve already thrown away the hard copy without even calling or emailing me. I was shocked, because I paid $900 for everything just to get the hard copy for CFIA to do the endorsement. My flight is leaving in a couple days! Updates: the manager called and told me they would try to fix it for me. Hopefully they’d be able to get me another hard copy before I fly.
