I’ve been with Movati for 5 years now. When I first signed up they were customer focused and driven about delivering the best experience possible. All the gym equipment was well maintained, and customer service was great. Overall I (and many of my friends) were satisfied with paying the high membership costs. The amenities, customer service, and equipment was well worth it! I recognize that COVID-19 has hit the fitness industry hard but Movati needs to seriously step up their game… All of the equipment is starting to break down and not being regularly maintained. Their focus is on gaining new customers and charging clients more and more, when their focus should be: how can we provide the best experience possible to our current customers (and use this as a foundation)…. Unfortunately that is not their model anymore. Please see my photo and video. Movati, please step up your game… Goodlife is just around the corner.

Prior to Covid I liked Movati. I recently went into cancel. Apparently I missed a grace period that I was unaware of to waive 30 day cancellation fees. They repeatedly sited policy and wouldn't budge. I don't feel safe going back. It was expensive to begin with. Now especially with reduced capacity and they way they have treated me, I won't ever be going back. It's not even the deal I signed up for any longer. DO NOT JOIN MOVATI.

Movati Kanata is in a central location beside Home Depot and across from Costco Kanata. With only one road in and out for the gym, costco, and other businesses, traffic can get busy. It's worth it to have a women's only gym and fitness class studio as well as a women's only pool. The classes are excellent and diverse: hot yoga, spin class, kickboxing, anti-gravity... something for everyone. There is an online booking system for class reservations, and the number of remaining open spots is shown so you can see how busy the class will be in advance. Bookings are checked before entry to avoid classes being over-filled. Post-workout, the protein shakes at the juice bar are so tasty!! Staff are pleasant, and the entire premises are well-maintained and super clean. Great mix of ages and fitness levels! It's always a great workout at movati: The gym for everybody

True review - Of Service Probably the worst Gym in regards to management and customer service i have been to. It might be nice and pretty on the outside but they do not tell you how it is on the inside. Things to know Money Hungry They do not really care about trying to keep your service, know that with them once you are in they know they have taken you money. Another thing is if they make a mistake on payments or anything like that they will refuse at all costs to refund you or compensate what so ever. Service on the phone During covid naturally you should not go in. I am very careful about covid-19 and they force you to go in order to accomplish anything cancel or even talk. Really don't think in time like this you should need to be forced to go in. If you call it will go tell you to wait and then hangup on you. Management As I tried to talk to the headquarters and not the manager of the establishment, I was again redirected to him, Ryan Marcellus did not care to try and retain me as a customer just trying to cover his tracks not giving me his last name or anyway to contact him. As a manager you would want to give options to the customer, rather I had to tell him options and he did not care. Conclusion Movati kanata is a poor establishment try another gym in general. when covid return will not be returning to that gym.

Grumpy morning staff at the front desk. These two ladies always look so miserable. They can at least pretend to be a little happy while at work. It would be nice to see happier and healthier looking people working at the front desk in the mornings. Other than that, I love my Movati!

horrible customer service, also charge $20 more a month if you don't want to be locked into a contract - even though restrictions are changing from the pandemic who knows what will happen. Will not let you pay with a credit card either. They have also now included an additional random fee on top of there normal fee to join the gym. Would not recommend this place, better off going to any of the other gyms in Ottawa Response to Owners Comment: I did send an email to your gym through the movati website before posting this review and nobody responded. See the horrible customer service comment above...

Before Covid, I like Movati very much. At the beginning of this special time, I sent them an email to freeze my card, but they DID NOT reply or do anything. Then my card was expired in June, I think okay, just let it go. In June and July, I didn't receive any notification, no phone call, no email. But one day in August, they began to take money from my card twice a month ($50 each time). I found it in Dec. On Dec 20, I went to Movati Kanata club, an employee called Emily was there. She told me, they can do nothing, because I missed my cancellation period. I showed her the email that I sent to Movati to freeze my card, then she told me she needs to show it to her manager, before reply to me. But from then on, I didn't receive any phone calls or emails, and Emily refused to tell me her manager's contact information, she even said she didn't know when her manager will come to Movati club. I would NEVER NEVER come back again. They just took the money without any reasonable cause or permission and refused to resolve the mistake.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Movati. I had my personal item (worth $300 ) stolen while using the facility, and the staff was unhelpful and unsympathetic when I reported the theft. The security measures in place were inadequate. When asked for the footage of the camera which was pointing straight to the area I placed my item, I was told that the footage is not available due to bad weather which I don't understand how is it possible for an indoor camera to not record a footage due to bad weather and it just stopped recording when someone took the items from that place, weird eh! What's the point of having the camera that does not work, never expected this from a gym that charges more than other gym and have the same or lower service. I been following up with different managers and other customer reps everyday to check the status and till date there is none.(seems like they don't care) I would never recommend it to others due to the lack of proper security and poor customer service.

My wife and I have been long term members at this club. However, I had to cancel my membership last year for personal reasons. I called to inquire about taking over my wife's active membership since she is no longer interested in attending the club until the covid situation is over, but the only option we were offered was to cancel her membership, and sign up as a new member - their way of pushing us out of our current price plan. Clearly customer loyalty is not a priority at this organization, and they just lost two long term members. I am assuming more cancellations will come if they are not flexible with their members given the current situation.

I struggle going to co-ed gyms, as I'm sure most women do. But the moment I walked into Movati I felt so comfortable. Not only do they have a womens section, but everyone who works there or who is a member is always so kind and welcoming. I've never walked through their doors and not had a friendly smile and "hello!" to greet me. Ana (one of their yoga teachers) teaches the BEST Hatha class on Saturday morning - I highly recommend it. She leaves clothespins to clip to your mat so she knows you are "open to adjustments" and being touched. I just love it. <3

Worst customer service ever. Cancelled my membership on August 25 and they still charged me for September 4th saying “I have to inform them 5 days prior.” Well, seems like you lack the mathematical skills, so allow me; it’s been 10 days! Will never be back and never recommend to anyone!

Back to the gym is wonderful! I missed the pool and I have incorporated it again in my work week activities. Overall the return to the gym has been good. Everybody still respects spac and choices. The pool has been clean, spa kept up, and I have even contemplated the towel service to lighten my load to work. I will always recommend this gym for the variety of services available.

One of the best gyms I've ever been too. Super friendly staff welcomes you every time you enter and leave, well kept equipment, machines and locker rooms, overall great energy and appearance. Memberships are flexible and worth the price. 10/10 would recommend to you and a friend!

Recent new member and I love this club. Everyone is so friendly, the staff, instructors and even other members. Everyone is there to help. The cleanliness in the woman’s change room is amazing, there is always someone in there ensuring the place is 100%. Lots of fitness class options and several options for cardio. Happy to be a new member! Well worth the membership fee!

It used to be my favorite club but they changed their policies and now it's a mess. Nobody is allowed to be even 1 minute late for any classes, few weeks ago this rule was only for high risk classes . Few weeks ago I came for restorative yoga class and instructor decided to wait 3 minutes for other people , even if it was time for a class. If I come late 1 or 3 min. nobody letting me in. Where is consistency? Why some members have privilege to be late and others don't? When I came only 1 min.late for anti-gravity yoga, they locked the door and I was not allowed in. Everyone knows that instructors take only 2-3 min. to introduce themselves. Movati employee told me to knock the door. I was knocking for a few min. and the instructor didn't even look to my side. Movati manager told me it was the policy for high risk class and they don't have to open the door for me. I was not the only one late, other lady was surprised too as usually they open the door even few min. later. It's very confusing as everyone tells you a different information. Why did other instructor told me this rule is for all classes when I was 3 min. late for other class? Also, often people use cell phones in a hot tub and they are allowed as per Movati policy. It's so disrespectful to other people that came to relax . Next issue is hot yoga class with noise from next door class with pop music and electrical guitar sounds. Yes, you can hear this music during yoga class. When I came to the instructor to ask if she ever brought it up to a manager to have this class at a different time to avoid loud disturbing pop music bihind the wall during yoga class she replied : "No, some people like it and may be I should try classes at a different time" . Honestly, I didn't even know what to say. It's very terrifying how people can be so careles. The last issue is dirty male change room. Don't be surprised how I know it. My family member went there for 2 years and all these 2 years change room was dirty with a bad smell, even towel hooks were covered in a film from old dirt , they were not shiny. I try to complain and he did it as well but nobody contacted us. Sometimes, I have feeling that some people like dirt. Why people don't say it on social media enough? I only noticed 1 recent bad review regarding dirty male change room. I ask all people to speak up. If we all connect they might change something. I have never seen such a poor swimming pool etiquette like at Movati. Most people don't take a shower before going to the pool even some man after the gym go to hot tub without taking a shower. Often weman scratching their body with nails in a steam room to exfoliate the skin and the skin goes on the seat. It happens on regular basis. It makes my stomach sick. People think Movati is high end place because of high membership price. If it was true they would keep their old members. Expensive doesn't always mean good. I don't understand what happened to this place after the pandemic. I was so happy when I signed up again but I realize it was a wrong decision. I think this place needs a very good business coach.

I'm really disappointed in the booking system. I know that you can only book a couple of days in advance, but I really wish that you could switch /scroll through those two days at the top and see the specific hours indicating that they are fully booked or have some availability. Right now it's stuck on Sunday. I can't select Monday or Tuesday and I can't tell if the site is down or if those days are fully booked. Even when I scroll down to see if it will switch to the next day, it's fixed on Sunday. It's a poor design.

After proper notification not to renew my membership, Movati continued making withdrawals from my account until I caught them. Took them almost a month to reimburse the over withdrawn amount. Keep your eyes on your account after cancellation.

When I moved to Ottawa with my wife, i signed up with Movati just to be able to play recreational indoor basketball and use the treadmills. After a few months, the basketball gyms were converted into cross fit. The facility is good. The management and staff were great as well. In the past 4 months we decided to take a leave with advanced notice and experienced a very different side of Movati. Movati had a mix up with our accounts regarding cancellation and told my wife and i that we were up to date on our payments. We truly thought everything was okay. We found out afterwards we had a balance of 38 dollars (which we paid after receiving harassing calls and emails). This was not our mistake since we were going off of information provided by Movati staff a few days prior. From a customers perspective, A simple phone call can solve a lot of miscommunications. Sending harassing emails and using an automated phone system to harass your clients is truly not the way to do business. It's very unprofessional and I will not recommend Movati to anyone moving forward in the near future because of this. A good way to solve problems regarding erroneous information would be to reach out to your client over the phone. It would be considered as a common courtesy to the customers you serve and it will go a long way as well. It was really upsetting to see how this was handled.

Good gym but definitely some ups and downs. It is very busy at peak time but the size of the facility makes up for it as compared to others. Could for sure use more area for mat work/stretching but in general, the gym has basically anything you would need to workout (I can't speak to the classes and/or pool as I haven't tried them). In terms of organisation, definitely could use some improvement. Weights are rarely in order (ESPECIALLY in the women's only section) and it can be hard to find what you need for equipment and weight size, the benches in the dumbbell area are regularly super disorganised and random. Some equipment could also use updating from wear/tear. In terms of contract and pricing, they do not offer a day/trial pass so basically if you want to try the gym you have to commit to a membership long-term which is frustrating. Unless you are going to use the pool, in my opinion Movati and Goodlife are basically the same quality just with a price difference and less flexibility for payment/membership holds. If Movati weren't so close to my place of work I would probably go elsewhere, especially because their hours are 7-7 on weekends

I personally really like the atmosphere around movati athletic. Just today I had a huge leg day and I wore burgundy shorts (rookie mistake) and let's just say I sweat through them so it looked like I had relieved myself and I didn't really feel like I was being starred at. Everyone is welcoming and I never feel judged for sweating. Being a new goer the atmosphere is a must. I feel like movati offers that. And I must add: as someone who embarrasses themselves quite a bit, I don't feel embarrassed going there, ever.

Horrible policies They have a policy that you have to cancel a class if you don’t go and if you don’t show for three classes in. Two weeks you cannot register for a class for two weeks. They suspend your membership and you cannot register for any classes. Today they suspend my membership booking and I’m told you have to cancel a class 2 hours before so you can free for others. This is not written on the front page. It just says to cancel before a class. So. If you book a class and another class you wanted to take becomes available. You cannot take that class. You will be penalized which is so wrong. I understand the need to have people schedule classes. But two hours!! Sometimes especially if there are hockey games. You can’t get to class in town. Or something happens. There's traffic. You have a family emergency. You had an injury. Life happens. You have to give Movati two hours to cancel a class There’s aren’t many other options for that type of faculty. But I highly recommend not to join. The pool Water is cold when you do aqua classes The change rooms has afew women who walk around with cels phones in the shower area. People leave locks on over night. Boots have been stolen and there is no option to put in your locker.

Leaving one star because I cant leave zero. I was out of country and I called to cancel and they told me I have to do it in person. After two months I arrived back and i have informed in person the closing of contract 15 days prior to end of month and according their policy they ask me to pay additional month without utilizing the gym. I spoke with the manager and even if the gym was not used in the past three years they did not take in account the contribution made in order to waive the 30 days. Bad business.

I personally really enjoy Movati. I find it a really clean and friendly place. I really like the women's only area and feel super comfortable being there. However, I did just recently have knee surgery. I was told by an employee from another location that I could have my bi-weekly fee reduced if I provided a doctor's note. I called my location to confirm and spoke with a very rude employee. I was told that even though I physically could not go to the gym to do anything, and that I wouldn't be able to use it, I still had to pay my full fee for the 2 - 3 months I'd be off. While I understand this to a degree, I think it's extremely unfair to continue to charge a customer $80 a month when they've just had surgery, cannot go to work to pay the fee and have a doctor's note saying so. So while I love Movati, I'd recommend going somewhere where you can put your membership on hold.

I am a member since 2017 and had a personal trainer for 1 year. Overall it’s clean place, pool, hot tub, devices are generally clean and well maintained. Pros: 1. Clean everywhere 2. Well Organized and good management 3. Well equipped Cons: 1. Too many members and often busy unless on Sundays or at night after 7pm. I don’t know about the mornings. 2. Swimming classes are at bad times until 7:45pm and it’s when people came back from work, and seeing 2/3 of the pool occupied for classes is strange. Why occupy 3 lanes out of 5 of the pool for 1-2 swimming students while members have to squeeze themselves in only 2 lanes!!! Bad timing and wrong policy here! Also time to time I see people use cellphones in the hot tub while it is not allowed. You need to warn them personally. Overall it’s a good place for exercising.

I was reluctant to pay for a membership at Movati, as mid/post-pandemic my workouts were mostly done from home. However, now that I have, I am sure glad I did. The yoga classes alone are worth it. Every instructor I've had has been great - Brian S especially. I only wish that the classes didn't fill up so quickly, or that they were offered more often, as I am somewhat of a last minuter...and want to take advantage of any free time I might come upon. I've read some of the other reviews and can not believe what some people choose to complain about. For the money, with all the amenities you could choose from at Movati, you are way ahead of anywhere else. I have always found the staff very pleasant and helpful. Equipment malfunctions and obtaining parts are beyond human control. Yes, they are a business and inspire to grow - but they are very personable and know most of the members by name - I have always felt very taken care of there. Club is always clean and well maintained.

Movati offers highly advanced gym facilities. The indoor aquatics are a real treat for water-lovers. In addition, they have a dedicated female-only fitness center. It's the ideal spot if you prefer privacy during workouts. They are not solely about fitness; relaxation facilities are also provided for a balanced routine.

The prices at Anytime are high compared to some lower end gyms, but in this case you really get what you pay for. The gym has all the basic equipment you need in addition to cardio machines and a yoga studio. The changing rooms are very spacious, modern and clean. The 24 hour access is a huge benefit. The staff are also very knowledgeable and friendly. The gym does get busy during peak hours, but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to get on a machine/rack.

Emailed in to this location. Set a meeting for 4:15pm to get signed up. Poked my head into the office to greet myself, was told they’d be right with me and to have a seat (the staff member was kind of rude from their tone). Not a good first impression. 20 minutes later I get up to see what’s taking so long, no acknowledgement whatsoever. So I left. Non existent service. Very disappointing.

I really like this location. They have good staff on hand, clean premises and private washrooms. They also offer additional classes as part of their membership fee that you can attend. I would recommend trying yoga on Tuesday or Thursday evenings or HIIT with Adria. All the instructors I've had so far were friendly and knowledgeable. I wish we had more yoga props available such as blocks or straps, but I'm not going to be too picky since it's not a yoga studio - and that may change too. They do provide yoga mats for anyone who doesn't have their own. Your gym membership practically pays for itself if you're partaking in the classes that offered. The gym has all the standard machines you'd expect, but they also have a ton of free weights, bands, foam rollers, TRX, and battle rope. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to join a gym.

Edit: after the bank investigated the charges on my credit card it it was determined that they were fraudulent and originated from Ottawa. I was reimbursed the full amount. I standby my original review about the poor practices of this business and how they handle your personal information. Dont sign up with this club!! Used a 2 month free Goupon and had to sign a contract. Since this was for my son I decided to try it out. My credit card information was compromised since they write banking information on a form and who knows how many people have access. They charged $7000 to peleton Canada and several charges to skip the dishes. No one else has my credit card info. Bad business practices and even worse staff. Beware!!

I have been working out at Movati for a while but unfortunately I had to freeze/later cancel my membership due to the mandatory mask-wearing rule at all times and having this random arrogant woman come up to me to call me out. I had just got off the treadmill and proceeded to go on a machine, I was extremely out of breath and just needed to catch it for a minute so I had my mask SLIGHTLY off my nose. I had this woman get all up in my space and start yelling at me to get my mask over my nose and to show her my medical note. I then proceeded to tell her that I am just catching my breath and that I was having a hard time (keep in mind I'm at a machine in my own space and shes all up in MY space with no social distancing whatsoever). Her being the immature "woman" she is ran away like a toddler and told on me for this little thing of me trying to catch my breath for a minute. I feel as though the movati employee did not handle it well and could've even pulled me aside to have a conversation with me about it but instead she interrupted my workout with that immature woman standing and starring right at me. I felt attacked for simply trying to catch my breath (working out with a mask isn't easy at all) and I felt as though the movati employee could've handled the situation much better. I decided to then freeze my membership until further notice because I realized that if I can't simply put my mask under my nose for just a second to catch my breath WITHOUT GETTING ATTACKED by a crazy lady, then I don't see a point in going there anymore. (MOVATI KANATA).

Great facility! Very clean! Very good schedule for the pool. And the inbody scale is very beneficial for your health. However, they will nickel and dime you every chance they get. Check your gift cards they expire quickly. Go for the facility, and don’t expect much else as customer service is what you’d expect at a fit4less.

worse service ever and when you go in to talk to them they do not answer your phone calls. Been waiting on a manager names Matt to call me back and he has not done so for over a month now. If I could give 0 stars I would have done that.

  • 1/5 Melissa Van W. 4 years ago on Google
waiting on a call from Matt for 2 weeks now and nothing. Was in hospital for medical issues and was just released. Went in on January 3, 2020 to talk to someone about bringing my PSW with me to help me incase I am not strong enough. They could help me get stronger just by watching me. But when I called again last Friday I was told NO. I could not bring a PSW with me for a week or two until I was strong enough to be on my own. I still have to pay for a membership that I have only used a few times. Where is the customer service and helping a client stay safe.?????? All i asked for was for my PSW to stay with me while I worked out to become strong again. They would rather lose a customer then keep one.

I work in the area but live farther away, so I really only come to this club a couple of times a week at lunch. Usually, my go-to lunch workout is the Friday afternoon Tabata class with Deanna. Let me preface by saying that she is the reason I'm writing a 5-star review. She is a fantastic, knowledgeable, and uplifting coach. Her classes are always challenging and the perfect length of time for a lunch workout during my busy work day. I have even taken inspiration in my own workouts from sets she's taught in class. Please never change this class or it's time or I'll have literally no reason to come back. Thank you, Deanna for always being positive, uplifting, and realistic with workouts. I love that you push everyone to their individual limits - you have a clear respect for the process/journey that is health and fitness and that is admirable!

Great facility, has everything you didn’t know you would need to meet your fitness goals. My only complaint is that the dry sauna in the men’s changing area is set to too low of a temperature. It should be set somewhere between 70-90°C to get health benefits from it. It’s usually set somewhere between 50-65°C.

This location is by far the best Movati in Ottawa. On top of that, I find Movati as a whole to be the best fitness chain I’ve ever been to. Everything is very clean, all the staff are friendly, and I’ve been a PT client for over a year and can say through experience and observation that all of the trainers are very professional and knowledgeable. Although they are a business, it never seems like they are just trying to get you to buy sessions but genuinely care about your health and fitness. I don’t attend many of the cardio type classes, but attend the yoga classes which are excellent. The variety and frequency of classes offered are incomparable. The pool, sauna, and steam room are clean and a great way to relax after a workout, and the showers/bathrooms are also the cleanest I’ve seen of all Movati locations in Ottawa.

First Class workout facility! Always a polite and friendly welcome from the reception staff as you enter. Changing areas are clean and spacious. Exercise equipment is plentiful. The new fuel studio has added yet another option for your workout. This place has it all. I’ve found the manager, Ryan to be very approachable and understanding. He will do his utmost to get things done. I’ve been a member for a year and honestly can’t see myself going anywhere else.

Their hot yoga has gone way way way down. I was one of their first clients when they first opened up in Ottawa and I went for years. Life got crazy with kids and multiple jobs and so I had give up my membership. Things have calmed down now and so I just went back and did a week trial…yikes - their yoga is complete garbage. People’s phones going off, people leaving early, just general disregard and disrespect; a complete divergence from yoga practice to really just any other fitness class. Also their membership fees are insane! 100$ bucks to enroll AND 30$ facility fee AND you have to pay the prorated amount to get you to the first biweekly payment - of 54 bucks…so basically $200 just to get signed up and over $100 a month thereafter. Maybe it’s because they don’t need to care because it doesn’t affect their bottom line - but their customer service is also a major thumbs down. Another sad example of a money hungry corporation that used to place a primacy on client service but greed has clearly won. Don’t be fooled by the argument that the cost is due to all the amenities you have access to - this is only true if you plan on actually using alll the amenities. If you don’t need a pool, I’d suggest trying somewhere cheaper - like GoodLife - they have a beautiful club in kanata. If you’re into yoga, you’ll find way better and more affordable classes at either Yoga Town, Beyond Yoga or Pure Yoga etc.

I have been a member of Movati since 2011 (before it was even called Movati!), and I can't recommend this gym enough to my friends and family. It's a beautiful facility with all the equipment and space that I need, amazing staff, and the classes are absolutely phenomenal. My favourites are the hot yoga and the kickboxing classes. The instructors are incredible - and with everything included in my membership - I pay a fraction what I otherwise would if I had a membership at a yoga or kickboxing studio. Thanks Movati Kanata!

  • 2/5 Isabelle B. H. 1 year ago on Google
It's a great club, but beware: there's just soo many rules!!! Ok I get that rules are needed, but some need to add some common sense and be communicated better. For the classes you have to arrive in advance or you won't have access, there's no flexibility. Now, we arrived within 10 mins before the start of the class, but were blocked access when some people were already in, it makes no sense! There's a social component sold in the membership for the classes, but what's the point if not everyone can get access? 10 mins before class is reasonable! Going to the gym & classes is meant to be a smooth experience, but it's getting very strict. Also the front desk staff who have to enforce these non-sense rules get snappy when questioned which is not a great client experience to be talked that way and only escalates frustrations.

I really like this location! I will break it down: Classes: there is a lot to try until you find your favourites, but I absolutely enjoy their zumba, bellydancing, pilates, core challenge, dance & sculpt, aqua intensity... The aqua classes fill up fast, like some other popular ones. Cleanliness: I often see the cleaning staff in the locker rooms at different times of the day and they are constantly moping and drying the floor, and I often see them disinfecting the shower floors too. The airflow seems good enough that even upstairs -with all the machines and the sweating- it doesn't feel stuffy. Studios/rooms: new, spacious, clean, lots of props. The women's studio is bigger than at Trainyards. Perks: I like the free apples for guests (it's a nice touch!), the availability of extra mats if you can't bring yours, the lounge - sometimes I just work remotely from there. Value for money: overall it is great. I was looking at joining fitness classes near work and drop-ins were around $25/class. If I were to join twice a week, that would cover my Movati fee. Instead I can join as many classes as I want, or just go use the treadmill, or sometimes just use the hot tub and sauna. Kids: if you bring your kid to their daycare while you join a class, I think it's something like $50-60/month on top of your membership, and the kid can stay there for 2h each time which is more than enough for a class/workout plus shower and some pampering. Quite unbeatable considering the cost of a babysitter or daycare several days a week... Potential things to improve: I wish they had non-dairy milk at the cafe, it's so odd not to have any. The hair drying area could do with stools/chairs like at some of the other locations. Maybe reduce waste from single-use disinfecting towels by offering little hand towels that can be dropped off and washed like we do with regular towels - there is so much waste when we clean up after using each mat or machine...

My issue happens pre Covid but it’s not too late to warn others; don’t believe or trust anything during the personal training assessment when you get your membership, at that time Matthew lied to me about the process and over promised; he even went so far to tell me they will contact my doctor in regards of health issue and customize the training accordingly. The personal trainer was very nice and professional; he wasn’t aware of the promises made to me and it was clear it was all out of his scoop. The personal training manger wasn’t helpful, in fact he wasn’t professional. Movati manager was extremely nice but couldn’t refund me my money, they still owe me $500

I’ve been a member of so many different gyms over the last 20 years and Movati Kanata is by far the best experience I’ve ever had. Not only is the club beautiful but it is meticulously maintained. The cleanliness is amazing and the staff that work there are fantastic. From the moment I enter the club, I feel more upbeat and in a better mood. The quality and quantity of machines are great and anytime something breaks down (which is rare), they are quick to repair. In the 2 years that I’ve been a member, I’ve seen numerous updates and upgrades around the club from new machines to the addition of new shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion (which smell great btw)—it’s the little things that make a big difference for me. I’m not a swimmer but the pool looks nice and the sauna and steam room are a great way to relax after a workout. I just started taking advantage of the classes, and again, nothing but positive things to say. The yoga studio has a great vibe and the instructors are super friendly and knowledgeable. I used to always look for the best/cheapest deal and frequented the discount gyms but after being a member at Movati, I would never go back. I actually drive 30 minutes to and from the club because it’s just such a great place to workout and I feel part of a community of people who are all there looking to better themselves. My only wish for the future is that guided meditation classes get added to the class schedule as that would be fantastic. Oh, and if Movati is reading this, maybe a cold tub, too :)

The new cancellation policy is ridiculous. Two hours is too early and it’s equivalent to not having any cancellation possibility at all. This was not even announced prior to its implementation and jumped from 15 minutes to 2 hours suddenly. If you increased that you should increase the number of possible times of no show or reduce the penalty of two weeks suspension as well. Otherwise it means you’re not looking for a an improved service and you’re looking for less service for the same money. You need better customer relationship thinking and improve strategy.

I asked him can I have a free bag when I registered, and then he answered with No. But only a couple of days later, I noticed an ad from Facebook, they did provide free bag to new members who registered at May. And I sent an message again, they refused to provide the bag with the excuse “existing members.” THEY DON’T CARE EXISTING MEMBERS!

After watching the most inconsiderate couple use every machine and never take any of the weights off I decided to handle it with the staff instead of confronting the couple and escalate it more than necessary. I went and talked to the front desk and asked if they would handle it. I went back upstairs to lift, and a female member of the staff came up and asked for me to point them out. I did, and she said she didn’t see any weights on any machine, so I pointed them all out… at which point she started in on me never addressing the couple. I asked why she was giving me grief and not dealing with them, she said there is no rule you have to put your weights back. Left and never talked to them. I am an able bodied gym goer, but I have seen frail, elderly and very petite people not be able to use machines because of people like this. I am not the only patron who has had enough of this behaviour.

Good day pass experience, lots of equipment. Music is the right volume, not too much. A crazy lady yelled at staff for a non issue thinking we'd left lots of weight on equipment but we hadn't. In the end she got in trouble for taking a photo of us and we got 2 free smoothies and staff all apologized for what we experienced.

I recently joined about a month or so ago and have been coming 4-5 times a week to workout in the women’s only section. I love the women’s only section and it’s not too busy when I go, but almost always half the treadmills aren’t working or the tvs on them don’t work. Most of the time there’s someone in there loudly talking on their phone, or sitting on machines not using them. And also people are awful at not taking the weighted plates off the machines when they’re done, and the free weights are almost never in order either. For paying this premium price for the gym, it almost isn’t worth it with the poor member etiquette and employees not frequenting the gym enough to make sure it’s clean and organized. The machine variety is good, but the machines are old and most of the knobs to adjust the machines are broken off or hardly work.

Worst gym in Ottawa. Customer service is next to nothing. If anything goes wrong you're going to blamed for it. If you want to be treated like a child and under appreciated for paying your membership fees to keep this hole in Kanata operating then this is the place for you. The absolute worst trainers I've ever encountered as well, only a couple have any real training.
