Recently met Benjamin at Ale and he was so professional, accommodating and easygoing. We setup a private wedding reception dinner for roughly 25 guests. My favorite part has to be the fireplace and the warmth it gave the space. Thank you Ben, our clients had nothing but wondeful things to say!

Had a really nice time on the patio by the pool this weekend! The staff were very friendly, and the food was delicious. I absolutely recommend the dirty fries! We plan on visiting again and taking advantage of the pool over the summer.

Love this place; never too busy, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, incredible vegan menu, great drink selection and lots of parking! The vegan charcuterie board and vegan grilled vegetable pasta are amazing!

Excellent food and great service. The ambience was perfect, we opted to sit outdoor facing the golf course. We arrived 30 minutes before kitchen closing time but they served warm and fresh food. Since it was out first time their recommendation was super. Menu reasonably priced. Great evening spend and will definitely visit again. Free parking just opposite the restaurant.

I heard about their vegan menu and finally got to try it. It definitely did not disappoint. We sat on the patio which overlooked the golf course. You couldn't tell you were in the city. The service was excellent. The food was amazing. We started with the best mojito (peach mango). Then the cauliflower wings appetizer. My boyfriend had the trio tacos and I had the vegan fish and chips. Saw on the menu they also offer a vegan and non-vegan brunch. We will definitely be returning.

They have a beautiful patio overlooking their golf course, great, friendly service, and an outstanding vegan menu - not just one or two items, but a complete and varied menu! They have a children's menu, which also featured vegan options. We had a wonderful evening here and will absolutely return.

You have no shame and no morals to sell me this grilled cheese and charge me $11 for two small pieces. Small portions, outrageously over priced. Even their poutine isn’t good, also another $11! I understand the location part but your food has to be good. Nachos were disgusting, dirty fires were MEH. Now the manager will strive to explain it rather than make sure we get decent food

Went there for mother's Day brunch and to say it was an utter disappointment would be understating the experience. The steak was COLD, like refrigerator cold. I was there for 9 AM so pretty much the steak was refrigerated from the night before and was over done. Eggs Benedict that were suppose to be medium were overdone. Thank you for ruining the start of mother's day for us, ALE or should I call you ST-ALE. To top that all we asked for a substitution for bacon and were served vegan bacon which to my surprise had an additional charge on the bill. I wanted to put the miserable experience to end and would have multiples for the extra charge of $3.50. Never coming back to these crooks, EVER. The server was overwhelmed with a half full restaurant. After getting the order wrong she went back and when finally came with a half correct order , there was no apology.

Great food and service for dine-in or take-out! Love that they have a separate vegan menu, and have vegan options for their special menus (high tea, brunch, etc.).

I’m soooo happy with the vegan menu and the rotation of menus. Very considerate staff ( FOH and BOH). Beautiful patio and the restaurant respects the Covid policies!

We ordered from the poolside menu. The worst Chip wagon would give better food than theirs! I don’t believe they use good ingredients too; small portions, over priced, over rated.

Via skip - food arrived in a timely manner. First item was the lemon pepper chicken wings. Second item fish and chips. The wings were inedible. One bite and the overwhelming taste of lemon was all I could taste. Not a little bit but more as if lemon juice was just poured over the dish. You could not taste anything but bitter lemon. This is a photo of what we tried to eat. The yellow all over the paper is excess lemon juice. The fish batter was overfried.

Loved eating here. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great tasting food. I love that they have a full vegan menu with many choices! Definitely going back.

A pleasant venue for an evening meal. We went for dinner during the evening in January. We guessed that the view would have been impressive had it been during the daytime or summer. It was unfortunately dark when we attended. The food was flavourful, and the service was friendly. They looked after us well. One of our friend's chicken wings was a little undercooked, but on the whole, it was a good meal. I would recommend the beer. The fish and chips were just OK....a little heavy on the batter, but compared to other restaurants that offer it, it was still decent. The green Thai chicken dish was excellent. The salmon that our friends ordered was flavourful too (from their feedback).

We came here after seeing all the great reviews on the Ottawa vegans group on Facebook. When we got there we found there was a wedding going on so they had a condensed menu which was no big deal. We tried the vegan tacos, the cauliflower wrap and the vegan Ceasar salad. The tacos were OK, the cauliflower wrap was very underwhelming, and the Ceasar salad was the worst I've ever tried... There was barely any dressing on it it wasn't even mixed in.. looked like they just threw it together. I was going to ask the waitress for some dressing but she never came by to ask how the meal was or even to refill our water... We didn't even eat the salad. Needless to say very disappointing experience.

Food was amazing. Would recommend the Lamb shank (falls off the bone). Service was ok but could definitely be better. A bit loud later on when everyone gets off the course but is pretty relaxing.

ALE recently hosted our wedding, and we were continuously blown away by the service and care we received. The venue was set up better than we could have planned, and every detail was managed to perfection. We wanted to have a moment to ourselves for private vows ahead of the ceremony and out of sight from the guests, and the staff at the venue expertly managed to get us under a gorgeous willow tree for the best pictures and ensured that the guests were kept away so that we could have our private moment. They also ensured that the wedding outfits would not be seen by the guests until the ceremony. We have to give a special acknowledgement and appreciation to the event manager, Ben O'Neil. He was phenomenal to work with and provided guidance and expertise when asked, always handling every conversation and situation with the utmost professionalism. We greatly appreciated his approachable and calm disposition that made everything easier. Ben also ensured that after the ceremony we were given time to privately enjoy a beverage and take in the moment of having just been married. We truly had a great experience and received so many compliments from guests about the venue, food, and service. The wedding planning and execution were made to be incredibly easy for us, a true testament to the work that the staff at ALE put in to our wedding. We would highly recommend choosing ALE as a wedding venue.

We had our wedding at the Amberwood Ale on August 5th 2023. Ben - the special events coordinator - was truly amazing. He met with us several times leading up to the event, walked us through everything we needed, made all the accommodations, worked with and recommended our vendors. He was so calm and made the entire process stress-free. As the bride, having a bridal suite to get ready was so helpful. We were able to contribute to the setup and had full access to take dress reveal photos ahead of the ceremony. Guests loved the wraparound porch, the lawn for photos and the dining hall for the cocktail hour and reception. The food was unbeatable and the entire staff made it such a special day.

I recently had my wedding at the ALE and I could not have asked for a better outcome. The staff was amazing at working with us and were very flexible. They set up the venue better than I could have imagined and the food was spectacular. There is not a thing I would have changed it was truly the best day of my life. Highly recommend anyone planning a wedding to highly consider ALE.

The ALE patio was the perfect venue for my parents' 60th Anniversary celebration with our family group of 12. Our server, Dani, was very attentive and the food was excellent. The two vegans in our group loved the extensive plant-based menu and everyone enjoyed their meals. Thank you to the ALE team!

The food was amazing, and the ambience was relaxing. We went for lunch and sat on the patio. Chris provided us a phenomenal service and was very informative. She suggested an excellent wine which paired well with the food. Thanks to Chris. We will definitely visit again.

Wow, their food is amazing! We ordered from the vegan menu. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy and came with a really tasty spicy chipotle dip. I've had fish and chips made from eggplant at other places before and didn't like the taste or texture, but this one was excellent! The slaw had a really nice and unique flavour; I'd never had it with dill spice before. And the tacos were soooo good. I don't know how they managed it, but these tacos tasted like smoked oysters to me - a flavour I hadn't been able to find in vegan food yet. 5 stars isn't enough for this place; we will definitely be coming back.

I was really excited to try one of their vegan bowls. Got the beef and broccoli and was given a bowl of mushy frozen vegetables. When I said something the kitchen confirmed they were having supply issues. Really wish someone warned me so I could have ordered something else. Hate complaining but it was $23 and I had about 4 bites. The vegan fish and chips looked good though!

Food was good. There were too many waiters for the amount of tables occupied so we were being disrupted every 5 minutes for nothing. The waiter serving our table kept calling my girlfriend and her mom "dear" and "sweetheart" which made us all a little uncomfortable. Otherwise it was good.

One of the better golf course restaurants in the city. Fast, friendly service with a good drink & food selection. Cozy indoor seating with a large balcony area looking over the 9th green. They have a huge vegan/vegetarian menu plus several gluten free options.

Congratulations Ben and team! The ALE Christmas Dinner takeaway was delicious. Four flavourful courses and just enough for leftovers on Boxing Day. Thank you. ALE is now our "go to" for festive dinners!

I was really impressed by the separate vegan menu, it was nice to have a lot of options to choose from! I ordered the vegan pad Thai rice bowl, which was really good but I'm not sure where the Pad Thai claim comes from. This was a great peanut stir fry, but if you go into it with the expectation of it being similar to pad Thai, you'll be disappointed. I also ordered the strawberry salad but it was unavailable unfortunately. Overall, the large vegan menu was lovely to see, and I look forward to trying more dishes from Ale.

My husband and I just got married at ALE and we could not be happier! We had our ceremony outside at the Garden site with the reception back inside the venue. Our wedding coordinator, Ben, was absolutely fantastic and made sure our vision came to life. He made sure the day ran smoothly along with his assistant, Chris. The food was excellent; our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the canapés, their meals, and especially the signature drinks that were handed out during cocktail hour. We are thrilled we picked ALE as our wedding venue, we had the best wedding day! And we can’t wait to go back for many meals and future celebrations.

We hosted our wedding at ALE in May 2022 and it was absolutely perfect! Ben and his team made planning our wedding so easy, and the different packages they offered meant that there was something for everyone. Our guests are still raving about the food (and so are we!), as well as how organized everything was and how kind the staff were. We've also enjoyed dinners and brunches here and the food and service are fabulous.

We had our wedding here because the vegan food was SO GOOD when we visited the first time. Our second visit the food was just mediocre and I actually returned my wedding meal on my special day because the gnocchi was undercooked. To say I was disappointed after I specifically chose the place for that meal is an understatement. I was embarrassed that half my guests were served that meal and that I had paid so much for it. It tasted nothing like what I had the first time. All I could do was apologize to guests who complained. It was heartbreaking. This was the rotten cherry on the cake after a very frustrating time communicating with the event coordinator throughout. Before we paid our deposit everything was smooth but once we paid emails went unanswered, our choices seemed unreasonable or discouraged, and we were met with a know it all attitude and insincerity. He especially seemed irritated that I had hired a day of wedding planner. He seemed very disorganized and we were often left waiting when we came to meet with him including at our rehearsal dinner. Thankfully I had my wedding planner there to make sure everything was as I wanted it and that I was where I needed to be throughout the day. Despite all this our wedding day was beautiful! The venue was exactly as I wanted it and everything (aside from the food) went perfectly. The staff made sure we had everything we needed (including a replacement meal for me) and were so kind and gracious. The brunch we had planned the following day was lovely. All our items were ready for us to pick up the next day but it was a complete mess. Things were just thrown together without much thought which was a bit disappointing: vases cluttered in boxes and flowers shoved in buckets. This was particularly frustrating as I had delivered most of the items neatly in boxes. It is a beautiful venue but I encourage you to bring your own planner! I believe this review is fair and honest and I will not be taking it down at the request of the management at ALE.

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at the ALE and it was a magical day. The food was amazing and we were very well supported in all the preparation steps leading to the big day. Our guest were so impressed with this venue.

My most favorite memory from my dad's wedding was when Ben confiscated some of my alcohol 😉. I even found a great shot of him in the middle of my wedding pictures doing so.

Ordered the date night dinner for two and received generous portions; definitely had enough for two meals for each of us. The food was delicious and the takeout packaging was perfect for ensuring the best quality for take out options (kept food hot and not soggy).

This place is amazing ! Hands down to the amazing food and amazing staff . The ambiance is very calm and relaxing . They have a vegan menu and and non-vegan menu . Everything was delicious! I cannot wait to go back again . Dreaming of this place like crazy .

Really good meal tonight. I had the full rack of ribs and my wife had tacos. The sweet potato fries were amazing. We started with the Bruschetta which didn't last long. Wife was really impressed with her garden salad.

We had the absolute BEST experience with ALE for our wedding! Everything was fantastic the food, the set up for the ceremony, the environment everything! Ben was such a life saver and made our day even more perfect than we could have imagined it was all so stress free and so special! We could not have asked for a better experience and we are so happy!
