Ottumwa has several Mexican restaurants, all of which are different and unique in their own way. Potros Garcia is almost a hidden gem - it seems not many people know about it, and so it never crowded. I've tried nearly everything on their menu and have enjoyed all of it. If you haven't already tried them, or been there recently, make plans to give them a chance. I think they'll win you over!

If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, with amazing flavor then you GOTTA go to Potros Garcia! They have great food, my favorite is the Arros Con Polo! Simply amazing and no one else makes it like they do! The only thing you'll be more amazed with is the spacious inside of what looks like a small building! They're great for lunch or dinner. They're also quick, so if you're in a hurry, don't worry, you can get your food and get on your way quickly. They also have a wide array of drink options! Do yourself a favor and stop in and your taste buds will thank you!

Absolutely not. Just no. If you want to uncomfortable and trapped in this restaurant because men cannot take a no for an answer. No women should be in fear of being trapped or in danger when going out to eat. The waiter and the manager of the restaurant are absolutely horrendous for making a women trying to enjoy her meal alone feel uncomfortable.

The food was good but now I’m telling every woman I know to stay away from here… me and my boyfriend sat near a woman eating by herself. It was slow in the restaurant and one of the employees sat down across from her and started hitting on her. He kept returning to her table and talking to her. Our waiter even sat down and did the same. It got so bad I asked if she was ok and if she felt comfortable. Then the worst happened our waiter went back over to her and sat in the booth side she was in. She politely said she wanted to leave and expressed how this was not ok. He refused to move and continued to block her in. I finally had my boyfriend stand up and our waiter rushed out of the booth to let her leave. A horrid situation for that woman. Absolutely disgusting service. Any and all woman should beware of this place. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

My husband likes it but I dont...they are rude and if you want to have something done your way,...well just forget it. Expensive

This is easily the best Mexican restaurant in Ottumwa, if not the best I’ve ever been to. In the dozens of times I’ve come here over the years, not once has a single aspect of the experience been disappointing. The food is delicious, the portions are huge, the prices are affordable, the restaurant is clean and the staff are amazing— they work super hard and all deserve a raise! I highly recommend Potros to anybody who wants a fantastic meal at a reasonable price.

Ate there last night. Excellent chile verde. I'm a truck driver ordered to go today imagine my disappointment when I got chile rellenos instead of chile verde. Get your orders right.

I had the seafood fajitas and was pleasantly surprised, the closest to coast fajitas that I have ate in the Midwest. My husband loved his hard shell tacos, and he is not easy to please. Staff was definitely there to provide customer service🥰😚🥰 THANKS FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!
