Two different experiences…been there around Halloween of 2021 and remembered this place as the best place I’ve visited in Chicago! August of 2022 wasn’t nearly this great! The menu changed and food didn’t taste very good, eggs weren’t salted at all and just didn’t look good. They didn’t have any mocha or lates!! And the worst part was the server that spoke to us like we owe him something! Was unpleasant and not helpful at all. After this time I don’t think I’m coming back, unfortunately!!:(

My wife and I just had brunch - I had to write a review before I left the table. We had an amazing experience! The food was wonderful and the service was amazing! Seriously...the best service we've had since the start of the pandemic (and a special shout-out to our server, Rachel, for making our brunch such a pleasant experience). The next time we're in Chicago, we'll have to make time to come back again.

Our cheese curds appetizer was cold and greasy. You can see the grease on the plate. The pork schnitzel appeared to be reheated as it was dry and hard to cut, let alone eat. The Shepherds pie was hot and tasty.

Loved this spot. The hubs and I enjoyed our first dinner in Chicago. I had shepherd pie for the first time ever in life. What a great decision and I was overjoyed to get a Coke in the land of Pepsi.

We were on vacation and just walking around looking for somewhere to get brunch. There were a lot of crowded places but this place had space and they were good about social distancing that even as the pub started to fill it never felt crowded. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were fun they gave us recommendations of things to do based on the interests we shared with them. The food was great and mimosas were too. The mimosas were so good we stayed longer than we meant to keep trying each flavor

Very nicely themed restaurant. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. The D4 burger was amazing. Fresh thick beef patty and the service was great. Nice way to kick off my Chicago trip

Love the vibe, class pub with lots of options on the drinks menu. Beers were super-chilled, cocktails were yum and food was great. Will surely visit again, especially for the Curry Chips!

Easily my favorite Irish pub in the city. Food was actually the best thing about it, and the the atmosphere and drinks were spectacular as well. Got the Chicken Pot Pie and Rueben - highly recommend both! Bread pudding. 🤤

I've ordered acouple times from them for delivery. We've had the burgers , sweet potato fries, the string fries and the mac and cheese . They have all been great. One thing I learned from my 1st order was to request the burger buns separate from the meat. The first time the bottom bun was super soggy I still ate it, that didnt stop me Lol. Burger sizes are huge ,honestly enough to share. The meat is thick, juicy and full if flavor. The sweet potato fries are great according to my wife. I dont drink so I wouldnt visit them just for the burgers but while I'm at Lurie's children's hospital I will continue to get it delivered.

D4 is a great authentic Irish bar. The food is excellent the atmosphere is very inviting. The smaller room in the back with the fire place and books on the wall reminded me of pubs I have been to in cork or Dublin. They also pour a great Guinness, which as anyone who drinks Guiness knows, makes it that much better. I can only assume it gets packed as it is a very large place.

D4 is a favorite of mine in Streeterville. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious too. I haven’t had a bad meal here and I’ve tried quite a few different things on the menu. I would highly recommend their burger or sandwiches, any of their salads, and any appetizer to share. Basically the entire menu! I am still waiting to see the return of the Southwest shrimp salad on the menu (it is one of the best salads I’ve ever had) but there are plenty of favorites for me to order in the mean time!

Excellent atmosphere. Good service. The food was outstanding, from the brussels sprouts, to the cheese curds, to the shoestring fries, which were perfect! I took one star off because my Rueben had no discernable thousand island on it, so it was pretty dry. I put their house-made aioli on it, which helped a lot. Overall, a really great experience.

Casual and comfortable atmosphere. Friendly service. I had the fish and chips and they were crispy, fresh, batter-fried and so tasty. I wasted no time digging in then realized I didn't get a photo of the beautiful presentation.

Food and drinks were fantastic, highly recommend the corned beef. Cheese curds were 90% batter with very little cheese though, and tiny portion. Overall good spot, but a tad expensive for a pub. Two dishes, an appetizer, and one drink each will put you over $100.

Nice place for a group outing or first date. Casual food items and decent cocktails. While there is nothing wrong with the food items as a whole, they’re also nothing to write home about. There used to be some cool dishes prior to the pandemic but the menu has become little more generic lately. Given that the place is near dozens of high rises, it could even be a good neighborhood joint for those living in the area. There are handful of competitions nearby by but this is less touristy option than others.

A solid Irish Pub. We went as a family with our 6 yo, lunch time. The personnel were attentive and kind, making sure everyone was included in the decision, even the little one. The atmosphere is great, comfy and classic. We had a nice tap lager, lemonade and Irish coffee. All delicious. For the food, we had a mini burger/ice cream (fantastic, a dream come true, according to my LO? I had a rodeo and my partner had a D4 burger with garden salad. Everything was very delicious. The burgers are quite big. Enjoy.

Nice Irish pub, it wasn't crowded at all on a Wednesday night. Had the house burguer, which was great. And obviously a pint of Guinness, perfect. Service was very nice.

The atmosphere is great. Music is just loud enough that you can hold a soft conversation without difficulty hearing the person across from you. The food was really great. The owner and staff were very friendly to our family with four kids. The waiter put the needs of our kids as priority and brought out their meals first. The owners came out and recommended kids menus and stopped by multiple times to make sure we were having a good time. I love that their dishes in general were not salty. I had a Reuben sandwich and it was the least salty sandwich that I had ever had. I ate it with my wife's salad and the seasoning was just right. The kids burgers had the charred taste. The chicken tenders that was recommended by the owner were so good, so crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside that my wife and I stole a few more bites from the kids. The fruit cups were fresh. We'll be back for more!

This is a really great place for dinner! The fish and chips were very good, but the best by far was the bread pudding! The whole restaurant had that great Irish pub atmosphere, and the bartender MJ was incredibly friendly and made some amazing mixed drinks and customized a few based on my tastes and they were amazing! Met a few locals at the bar who love the place, which as a frequent tourist is always a sign of a consistently great restaurant!

Found this place by chance, and I'm so glad I did! The shepherd's pie is delicious! Best I've had! They had a bar, high tops, booths, and a library type room with a fireplace. Perfect cozy place to grab some casual drinks or restaurant for a date night or Cafe during a cold day next to the fire. Honestly, would recommend for any occasion!

When you're not from Chicago, a properly poured Guinness is hard to get. So I was on the hunt for that and wasn't disappointed. The food is excellent too. Had a quick lunch and just the half CA BLT and Cheddar Broccoli soup. Both were delicious and together were filling. I hear the chicken pot pie is a must. Will have to try that later. They also have selection of Moscow Mules, $8 on Mondays which I will have to also trysometime. The service at the bar was very friendly and quick. Place is clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. There's a section with a fireplace.

This place was so good. It is reasonable priced, good sized portions, and delicious. The service was really good as well. We went for brunch. There was everything from traditional Irish breakfast foods, to all American breakfast, and all different lunch options. Truly something for everyone. We had a vegan, a gluten intolerant person, and a picky child, and everyone was able to get something to their liking.

Our family met here last Saturday night for the first time. We expected to find a nice pub with a good beer selection and reasonable prices, which we did. What we didn't expect was above average food! The chicken fingers were outstanding and everyone's favorite, with Shepherd's pie as a close second. We also tried the nachos and Ruben sandwich which were good, but not special in our opinion.

Food is expensive and the menu is very limited unless you really love Irish Pub food. Food is tasty, however, and service is excellent. Great assortment of beverages. However, menu variety is awful (for my taste) so I won't be going back until they update their menu.

We came here after a visit to the hospital. It was our anniversary and I was sure to mention it. My friend had a burger and I had. Corn beef with sweet potato fries. Also excellent horseradish mustard sauce. 2 glasses of wine. It was very good dinner or waitress was very nice but what I thought was really weird is when you say you’re celebrating some thing and they bring you nothing and makes me want to never go there again. Because it’s all about Service

A pandemic lunch, but wonderful none the less. Gear place with cool vibe. Staff was very good and good was good. I had the hamburger and fries and it was good. The burger was fine, but for me it wasn’t the best ever. But I think that’s just a personal preference issue, there wasn’t anything wrong with the preparation. We would definitely go back.

Good food and good service. They have a small outdoor eating area so please make sure you call ahead. We went over the weekend and it was nice, everyone was socially responsible. The food was good, I personally had the flat bread. My companions had the burger which they said was great. But I guess they are known for their fish and chips which our other companion ordered. He raved about it and serving was generous. Good beer selection. And our server was very nice.

I was in the area over the weekend and have nothing but positive things to say about this place. I had two separate meals and the experience was positive on both occasions. Even on a busy afternoon the staff was attentive. Keep up the good work. I don't normally go downtown but if ever I am in the vicinity I'm going to take my family to enjoy this gem.

I've been ordering from D4 since the beginning of this year. The D4 burger and the pulled pork are amazing, but what kept me coming back was mainly the perfection of the house cut fries you get with the burgers. However, in the past month, I've ordered three times and the way the fries is done has completely changed, it's no longer evenly cut or crispy, just overly cooked burnt fries. If something changed, please revert back to the way the fries used to be done. I'm pretty sure a lot of people agree with me. The aioli sauce has improved and you really get a good kick of garlic, even though it looks different from how it was made. But please get the fries back to how they were made.

Good quality food and nicely priced brunch. The cocktail/drink menu offers a variety of options. The wait staff and managers were so friendly and accommodating, a homey type vibe. The look was this an old Irish style pub and thematically beautiful. Would come again. And the French Toast as a side is the perfect dish for sharing

I made a reservation for three people at 2:45pm on 9/6 via OpenTable. I saw on the website that due to COVID, reservations were recommended and thought it would be great to sit outside. When I arrived with my guests, the hostess told me that there was no reservation under my name and the outdoor section was closed... Ok, a little odd considering the fact I received a confirmation email from OpenTable that my reservation was accepted. Not sure why outdoor dining was closed during the pandemic, but whatever. There also were only two other tables there when we arrived. We ordered our drinks, starters, and meals all at the same time. I ordered a french onion soup and sandwich and the waitress asked if we'd like the appetizers to come out first to which we said, yes. My friend's appetizer came out first but not my soup. I gave it a few minutes before I finally decided to say something. The waitress says, "Oh, they didn't bring it out? They must've forgot it." Ok, I get it mistakes happen, but stop making excuses and just go get the soup. I began to get extremely irritated when I waited ten more minutes and still no soup. A bunch of Chicago police officers came in to eat in uniform. The waitress completely shifted her attention to the two tables of cops. She didn't check in on us at all since she was preoccupied with the police officers. When my main course arrived, I told the waitress that I didn't want the soup anymore. She made a face at me like it was going to be ready any second (like I already hadn't waited twenty minutes). Sorry! I don't want it anymore. The food was actually really great, a lot of flavor and good portion sizes. Nobody ever checked on us to see how the food was or if we wanted any more drinks. Nobody even came to refill our water glasses!!! This waitress literally wanted nothing to do with us and she made that clear. After we saw her bending over backwards for the police officers, we were pretty disgusted. There is no excuse for poor service especially when the restaurant isn't even busy. This girl was so lazy and other employees were just sitting around. The customer service in general was horrible. I'm not cheap but I do think the soup should've been on the house for the inconvenience. Now that I think of it I just wanted to get out of there so I didn't even read over the bill. I'm kicking myself because she probably forgot to take it off. I was a server before and this honestly was the worst restaurant experience that I've ever had. I'm so disgusted with this establishment. Shame on you and your horrible customer service. Train your servers too!

The only good thing about this place is the draft beers. My wife chose the fish and chips and I chose the "Shepard's Pie" so they call it. The fish seemed to have been cooked in some sort of overused oil because the fish was terrible and hard to eat because of the taste. It was a sort of taste that would linger in your mouth until you had to wash it down with something. I ordered the "Shepard's Pie" but it wasn't a Shepard's Pie, it was a Cottage Pie. They use ground beef in the pie instead of ground lamb. The Cottage pie was ok other than the large bits of carrots that they use. I would advise only buying drinks here and to stay away from the food unless your desperate or bored. It just seems this place has a problem with consistency in there food service.

Truly one of the best and certainly cleanest Irish Bars anywhere. The service and food exceptional and reasonable. The owner, Brendan Mc Neill, is a class act all the way. He's a major tribute to his hometown, Dublin, Ireland.

I stopped here tonight for dinner. They do have seating outside, but there was no tables available when I came around 5:45pm. I sat inside in one of their high top booths, which was lovely. Very close to the bar. Plus the ac felt good. Drink: I had a Guinness, which was foamy and smooth. Tasted very good and refreshing on this warm day.b Entree: grilled chicken sandwich on a ciabotta roll, which the chicken was grilled nicely. It had baby swis, bacon, avocado, chipotle aiole, lettuce, and tomatoes. Side: sweet potato fries with a small cup.of chipotle aiole for dipping. The fries were nice and crispy. Was given a generous portion. The aiole sauce wasn't too spicy, but had a nice kick. Overall, everything tasted pretty good and was a good size portion. My waiter (Goran) was very attentive and kept checking in on me. The manager even came up to me a few times to check on me, to thank me for visiting them, and took away my dishes. Great service!!

Went to this restaurant since another we wanted to visit for breakfast had a very long wait. I enjoyed the sausage and eggs, unfortunately both the bacon and the potatoes were too hard for me to eat. I found it unusual that we had to ask for salt and pepper, but the group at the next table, who had the same waiter, were asked if they needed hot sauce, salt, pepper or anything along with their food. Also there was not any ice in the water. Just odd....Overall while I wasn't wowed by the food, the ambience was very nice.

Our waitress was terrible. However, I don't want to knock the place down because of her. The food was delicious and the manager was wonderful and understanding as well. I'd recommend the chicken pot pie.

The food was nothing out of the ordinary but the place was very nice. We sat by the fireplace and our server was very kind. They have a good variety on beer which allowed us to taste a few ones. Side dishes are really big, so take that on mind.

We were able to get a table as walk-ins. Went here a day after St. Patrick's and was told the menu was limited. The place had a vintage feel to it with books on shelves as part of the decor. I had the D4 burger (medium-rare), which was good. It came with sweet potato fries for a $1 extra. I had the peanut butter cup martini; It reminded me of baileys but richer. The staff was pleasant as well. Overall, it's a nice place to hangout with friends or even with a date.

Nice food. Welcoming environment. Nice place for friends hang out, to enjoy a juice collection of wines and beyond.

Neighborhood Irish pub with excellent food and kid friendly service. Been here many times – my go to is grilled chicken sandwich, the not-so-simple side salad, and a pint of Guinness. The kid loves the mini cheese burgers. D4 is also an excellent place to watch sports. And love the library room.

Great place! There is something here for everyone. They have outdoor and indoor seating. They let you make reservations. They have Coke products. great food and service! We had the snicker doodle warm up . Coffee with Baileys and other alcohol with whip cream on top.

We walked by this neighborhood joint at least a few thousand times and have finally decided to give it a try. The interior has a very classic look, tall ceilings, buttoned leather seats and very spacious. The outdoor space is also quite inviting since it is mostly in the shade. Service was on point, no complains. While the bar menu is suitable for an Irish pub, a lot of selections at reasonable prices, the food quality on the other hand, was a bit disappointing and left much to be desired. The cheese curd was ok, the battered was light but the seasoning was heavy. There is almost no need to dunk it on the jalapeno ranch dip, it is fine just by itself. The Cobb salad ingredients were fresh, crispy chicken, but the dressing was too heavy, maybe some people enjoy a mouthful of dressing for every bite, but not for us especially with bleu cheese on top of it. The short rib nachos was probably the most disappointing. There is only about an ice creame scoopful of meat in it, you have to dig around the nachos to find a few threads of short rib and they were dry. The short ribs were not the only thing that was dry, the beans and pico ingredients were also dry. Imagine if you take a fresh order of nachos home and put it in the fridge over night, this is how it looks next day. The guac was ok. Finally the schnitzel, I have had really good pork schnitzel both in the US and surely in Germany. The meat is supposed to be fork tender with crispy breading. The schnitzel breading here is good, but the meat is not tender whatsoever. Overall, it is not impressive. Or maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes. 😔
