It was my first visit and it was delicious! I had the Lo-Lo's plate: chicken was moist, crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the waffles were amazing. I also ordered the okra which made this Texas native very happy. One recommendation - skip the ranch and ask for gravy with the okra. Perfection! The staff was super friendly and there wasn't a wait. Can't wait to go back for more!!

I eat at a lot of places, and waffles are usually crunchy for the first bite but after that, good luck. These stayed crunchy longer then most other places. The flavors were good, sweet waffles mixes really well with savory crunchy chicken with some umami grits. Chicken sandwich had a good crunch, was slightly dry but tasted fine. Grape Kool aid came out a little too sweet but not a deal breaker. Our server was nice but it took forever before she even greeted us, try not too sit near the bathroom, the smell was off-putting when you catch a whiff of it.

Quality of food not as good as it once was. I have continued to come back, hoping it gets better, however its been a hit-n-miss on my last 3 visits. Customer service, however was great on this visit. Our server was courteous, attentive & friendly! Wait time only 3 minutes to be seated. Ample parking & restaurant was clean & inviting. My cocktail was just ok ‐ nothing special.

This place was a great environment. Soul food that will make your day better. Lots of great choices. I went with sandwich with fries and my wife went with their topped fries with cheese and chicken. The prices were pretty fair with the amount of food they give you. The drinks are nice and not watered down. The sweet tea is definitely that southern SOUTHERN sweet tea. The seats are comfy and the people inside were nice to us and food wait wasn’t too long considering they were close to closing when I arrived. Definitely recommend to any family or place to go to town with some friends.

Well the service was great! But the gravy was not very good it looked really gross like throw up with chunks of unknown meat. Proportions were disgustingly large giving a gluttonous vibe. Everything was so salty. Chicken was was salty and burned. Waffles were good though. Such a long wait just for drinks and our food. Stick to the waffles.

Limited parking, takes cash or card and serves booze! Listen, you're either going to have a good experience or a lackluster one, never more or less...but everything in between. If you absolutely love chicken and waffles then this is about as good as gets in the area, so you're going to have decide if you want to roll the dice or not. Yes, I am reviewing this particular location, but to other people's points experiences also vary depending on which location you go to with everyone saying "don't go the one on _____, but go to the one on ______". At the end of day, give it a shot and get there early if you can.

This place is alright with me. It does take a minute to get your food. Everything was good! Only complaints is my son does not eat cheese.... he said no cheese. They must have put it on his chicken sandwhich by mistake and pulled it off. Then they turned the sandwich upside down hoping he would not see it. But my son could still taste it and was pulling it off. But what if he was allergic. That is the only reason I deduct a star. Good flavors everyone enjoyed their food otherwise. No wait... went on a weekday!

Ok LoLo's came highly recommended from the locals. We had over an hour wait to get 6 of us in but we were determined to give it a try. I got the fried green tomatoes as an app and they were pretty good. I ordered the toy toy meal and attempted to get a side of yams but they were out. In fact it seemed like they were out of half of their menu which was disappointing. Anyways the waffle was good but nothing to brag about. My wings were pretty good and fried perfectly. Overall I think it's worth giving a try but there are areas were they can step it up.

This would be my second time eating here within 3 years and the food quality and experience maintained. This is a great spot to enjoy and I love the theme and ambiance. Love being able to enjoy a nice cold glass of Koolaid with some delicious food. Took a banana pudding to go and ate it later that night. Wouldn't suggest, but that's my B for not enjoying it fresh. Come and try it yourself 🍀

The food here is always top notch 👌I I became a pescatarian and was worried I could no longer go to Lo-Lo's, but they have so many fish options and the shrimp Mac n cheese is the best. Also had a biscuit here for the first time and it was so delicious. They have big portions so sharing is definitely an option. Service is always great and they are always busy so be prepared to wait a while before being seated.

I had a hankering for soul food today so decided to go here. Lolo's is always good to me. I had the soul food platter with two fish and one piece of chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin and yams. The yams were my least favorite and the cornbread muffin has corn kernels in it, not my favorite either, but everything else tasted real good. The food was hot and for a table of seven the food was ordered at 2:05pm and got out to us at 2:40pm. The waitress did check on us and brought us some banana pudding for the long wait, very nice of her! I will be back to visit as this is one of the best soul food spots in town!❤️

Everyone loves to go to a restaurant with good customer service and I received it her. From the minute we walked in everyone was pleasant. They immediately received 5 stars from me. Now for the food. I was working hard to give the food a 5 but I just couldn't. The reason I wanted the food to be a 5 because the waffle was good and the grits were made how I like them. Of course I have to rate the food as a while and the chicken was one of the main dishes. The chicken was fried right but it lacked seasoning. I was looking for that sweet and salty comb with me waffle. The drink was good. I would recommend this restaurant to other and will be back food dinner. I love the atmosphere as well.

From beginning to end and end to beginning this was a great dining experience. This recommendation did not disappoint! All staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. The facility was clean and beautiful. The artwork was colorful, playful and interesting. Our order was taken in a timely manner, the food was served quickly and plated well. All food ordered tasted very good! You will not go wrong with this restaurant! Highly recommend!

We absolutely love going to Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles. This time it was above and beyond amazing! Our server Matthew was very polite and his service was very professional and made sure everyone got what we needed. He came back to check on us several times and always had a great smile! Now, as you know the food here is the bomb! So you know it’s all 5 stars in my book. Thank you so much y’all! We will be back.

Cocktails made from Kool-Aid, hot and moist fried chicken, red velvet cake, fried green tomatoes, collards -- what's not to love at Lo-Lo's Chicken and Waffles! We've been going to the original location in central Phoenix for years. Our favorite dishes include the fried chicken, collard greens, fried livers with gravy, burgers, banana pudding, and red velvet cake. I get the greens as a side every single visit, no matter what else I order; they're that good. The desserts are too sweet, but that's okay. The only items we avoid are the fried okra, boiled potatoes, and green beans; they taste off, like they are frozen or from a can. But, that it only a minor issue as the menu is 99% fantastic. And, these folks know how to hire. Every waiter or waitress we ever had was just oozing with personality and made the evening a delight. You'll love this place is you like southern food at all.

I am still going to give Lolo's Chicken and Waffles 5 stars even though one of the dishes was nasty as hell. It was the Mac and cheese. So i had 4 wings for $1 each. This special is every Thursdays. Anyhow, i had 4 wings, mac and cheese, rice w/ gravy , collard greens and 1 waffles. When i tell you that the food was so great. It was so satisfying and the quality of the meal was excellent. Except for the mac and cheese. They allowed me to send the mac and cheese back and i replaced it with some more collard greens.so good. Go now and enjoy some comfort food. You will not regret it.

FOOD-Yummy. So delicious. PORTIONS-large STAFF-very, very friendly. First visit. Was recommended from friends from Chicago who ate there a few years ago. Little wait time because food IS good, staff very pleasant. I will eat there again & bring some more of my friends to enjoy what I experienced.

So I went to Lo-Lo's and got their biscuits and gravy. It was amazing but I am not a food critic; I don't know how to describe how great it was. What I can do is tell you that today I happened to go to another place that had biscuits and gravy. They where flavorless and I became nervous I was coming down with the first symptom of COVID19. I called my doctor and quarantined myself away from the family. No it wasn't COVID19; instead Lo-Lo's raised my expectations of biscuits and gravy.

The food at this location was just ok. If you're going to call it soul food, it must be seasoned and not just fried. The fried tomatoes, fried okra, and catfish are bland. They rely too heavily on the sauces to provide flavor. The buttered rice, Mac and cheese, and fried chicken were good. I like the atmosphere it's a great chill spot but the service is just ok. I would go back .

Interesting decor and does a good job at maintaining its theme. The food took about 25 minutes to be served and was not hot upon arrival. The soul food platter wasn't anything special. The wings were sub par, the string beans were pretty bland (not spicy at all). I did like the collard greens but they were collard greens and it's hard to mess them up. The cornbread was pretty good as well. I'm not sure there was any alcohol in the mojito cocktail. Overall, I think that this place would be worth the money if it didn't fall short on the things I mentioned.

Very overated!!!The food was not the best and out service from out waiter was terrible. We had to ask a different server for something they brung it out way before our actual server did. Our cranberry juice was watered down. I personally will not be returning to this establishment. Only reason why I am giving it two stars was for the other waiter that helped me.

Five stars! The service was amazing! Our server was the best! I wish we found this gem sooner. My husband and I were on way home to MN and decided to stop in before catching our flight. I’m so glad we did! I ordered the catfish platter w/two sides and he ordered the chicken platter w/two sides. Very generous portions. The MacNCheese and catfish were perfect! The greens and yams were really great too! I was raised by my grandmother who cooked for her family of 16 daily. I KNOW good soul food when I taste it. This was it! We loved the ambiance too. Nice 80’s r&b music playing…. Chefs kisses 😘 We’ll definitely be back the next time we visit Phoenix.

Always fantastic food. They are known for chicken and waffles and it seems to be the holy grail of Phoenix. Their down home atmosphere is a pretty chill vibe and their welcoming atmosphere is a come on in to everyone. Their service leaves much to be desired but honestly the food was so good I think it's a trade off. I will be back and bringing other with me. So glad to have such a gem so close

The first restaurant I ate at when I visited Arizona, and boy was it good. The place feels hipster but also like grandma's southern cooking at the same time, giving the place a very nice atmosphere. The chicken was fried to perfection and the seasoning of the crust was superb. The waffles themselves were delicious and even better with the syrup. Cheesy grits were also perfect. Would recommend 100%!

  • 1/5 Zoe G. 3 years ago on Google
Food was great, but service was awful. As a business owner I was very unimpressed by the service given 1) asked for straws 3 times before receiving 2) not clearing a table from dirty dishes 3) asked for a ranch 3 times, was brought out when we basically were done with our meal 4) didn’t check to see if our food was even good 5) leaving a pos screen on the table for anyone to steal I’m not a person that writes reviews frequently but it is probably needed. Please train your servers better so not only do you get more money but your servers do also

This place is perfection! After going a few times with my boyfriend, I can see how one could crave some chicken and waffles on a Sunday morning. Don't sleep in too late though because you will wait if you hit the church crowd. Don't skip the grits!

Lolo’s is one of my favorite spots to eat in Phoenix. I have been here over a dozen times and I have never been disappointed! Service is amazing, food is always hot and delicious, & the entire atmosphere makes you feel like you’re at home. I have been to Lo-lo’s twice before my dissatisfaction. I called them @5.00pm to place a to go order. NO ANSWER! I called again and they finally picked up (like I was bothering them) LO-LO’s! I said can I place a Togo order. He said hold on, and comes back to the phone and say unfortunately you have to be in store to place an order. What!? That’s new!!!??? I get there @ 530 walk in to place an order. Two other people standing there that placed orders OVER THE PHONE to pick up. The girl comes back and says. We only have chicken waffles and sides left. Why didn’t that man tell me this over the phone. He could have easily said. Ma’am if you plan on coming. The menu will be limited. And I would not have wasted my time coming up there. And just based off the reviews I see now. I don’t plan on going to that location ever again.

What can I say. Lo-Lo's is the Roscoe's of Phoenix. Damned good food & excellent service from the wait staff. We'll never stop eating at this establishment even though we live in Avondale. The chicken & waffles are immaculate. The sweet tea is to die for. Nothing negative to speak about this business. Thank you, Quixarii.

If you're going to Phoenix, and Lo-Lo's Hot Chicken isn't on your itinerary you might as well cancel ya trip. Go see another city, there is no reason for you to be in AZ, if you not hitting Lo-Lo's at least once. Greatest chicken sandwich I have ever had in my 20 years of existence. If I'm on death row, and I get to chose my last meal, it's hard to not have Dave's in the discussion, along with Bundu Khan and Agas.I Loved it.

Tried to eat here for lunch on 7-27-2000 ordered my food for pick up, and was told my food will be ready in 45 minutes. Get to the s.central location for them to tell me my order wasn't even placed, gave a gentleman my number over the phone and repeated my order just to waste my time and gas.. I am highly dissatisfied with this location.

I was very disappointed, I waited almost an hour for my food. The cashier kept telling us that it was being packed which took another 20 minutes. The waffles were very good, however, the chicken was too salty. Not at all what i expected. I will definitely go to the Scottsdale location next time.

On our big vacation to California, we drove 5 hours only to find this Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles place. The place was very welcoming, very clean, very friendly, the Chicken & Waffles were the best that I had ever had in my life, and therefore there’s literally no better place than eating Chicken & Waffles together ?. Sadly we don’t get any of that in the UK ?, but I remember my time in the US eating them together, it was incredible ?. Definitely recommended ?.

Absolutely the best hot chicken sandwich I have ever tasted anywhere! Hands down the best of the best. This place was so good I decided to come here twice. It was always busy but they move the orders super quick. The workers are also helpful and kind. The prices are fair and the portions are huge. I love this establishment so much you don't understand - I wish there was one where I lived. It's also Halal! Which is a plus.

A bit disappointed in my order. Greens way too salty. Candy sweets (yams) tasted like they came from a can, with very little flavor. The styrofoam carryout tray was so flemsey that it felt like the food was gonna fall right out of it. Certainly caught me by surprise cos the food quality used to be much much better years ago!

Amazing place ! So much to choose from and you can even get alcoholic beverages. Never seen that in a diner known for their breakfasts ! Not sure why people complain about the pricing , they need to get over it. To each company their own ; they make the prices so either enjoy and eat there or simply go somewhere more affordable towards your wallet. No need to file a complaint over a price.

My son and I came there for the first time to grab some breakfast, and I must say, the first impression was not great. We waited about 20 minutes before being seated, which was ok. There was a young gentleman working the front counter that seated us. He told us that he was going to bring us fresh silverware, and our server would be right with us. My son and I sat there for 30 minutes just waiting. The young man walked passed and made eye contact with me TWICE, but never acknowledged that he forgot our silverware. Several servers walked passed us within that 30 minutes, and not one of them stopped to ask if we had been helped. I spoke to the manger on duty at the time, she told me they were behind on orders in the kitchen, but took my order for our food and drinks. YET AND STILL.... we waited almost another 30 minutes. FINALLY.... a server stopped and asked us had we been helped. I told her that my order was put in but I was still waiting. She took my order again to go check the kitchen. She was back in less than 10 minutes with our food. Now on the bright side of things.... the food and drinks were GREAT!!! But the service that day.... not so much. Had the service matched the goodness of the food, I would have given them 5 stars. I’m open to going back for another try, whenever I visit AZ again. I’ll just go at a later time than I did on this occasion.

This is a soul food platter which you have a variety of different options to choose from & comes with two sides and your choice of either cornbread or biscuit. I selected the three pieces of bone in chicken, collard greens, cheese grits & cornbread. I did end up with a go box This was my first dining experience since the start of covid-19. Great choice! Great food! Great service! Great prices!

Not the best and not the worst. Ordered soul food platter, veggie tray, and kool aid. Be prepared for a long wait. Got a bad batch of chicken that tasted like the grease was burnt. Greens are good with a little kick. Mac and cheese very hearty and ok. Dirty rice was ok. Beans and rice, ill pass. Yams are close to sweet potato pie taste, thick, and hearty. Corn bread ok. Kool aid ill pass. I added my own sugar. Not anything I would travel back to Phoenix from Florida for but an ok option if you want a taste for soul food.

Was told 10 minutes for wait but turned into an hour. This place has gradually went down in the way they season and cook their chicken. No seasoning and tough. Presentation is sloppy. Mac n cheese had greens in it. Food wasn’t hot. Overall very disappointing. I will say that our server was very attentive and friendly... hence the 2 stars. Hopefully they will get back on track.

Only necessity invents plates like waffles and fried chicken, and 'Necessity'...well... She's a jolly good fellow! Were it not for a 'hinky' drink/refill policy we'd be rolling out the 5 star flag for these folk. So fear not and go get you some Soul with your cuisine... because everything else is just cuisine!

Was a great experience. Especially during corona virus i felt very safe and no worries. The food was great, and hot. The customer service was excellent. They kept asking if we are good, and if we need anything but we were great.

We love this place! Being a transplant from Oklahoma, I have really missed southern cooking. This hit the spot! Update: Had exceptionally bad service last visit, not sure we will return. UPDATE: January 2021. My daughter wanted to eat here for her birthday. We masked up and headed inside, or at least we tried to head inside. The place was packed. Every single table was full to the max. No Covid distancing at all. The front was also full with people waiting to dine in as well as Uber drivers, etc. Crazy full. I hung around outside waiting/hoping that the place would clear out. I finally went inside, and asked if we could be seated outside on the patio. It was empty except for one table. I explained that we would need to move two tables together, since one table only sits 4 and we had 6. She told me that no one was going to move any tables out there. I told her it was empty. and that we could move them. She didn't care at all. I was in shock. I have no idea why we couldn't move two tables together... there were 6 empty ones out there. smh I will NEVER spend another penny here. Just plain RUDE.

It was the normal excellent food and service you find at this location except for the host. He could not seem to figure out how to seat 5 people at a table and not a booth. Tried to seat us at the same booth twice then put us at a table for 4 with 5 chairs. We found our own table and everything was fabulous from then on!

I'm not sure if I chose the wrong day to order, but I was disappointed after hearing so many good reviews of Lolo's food. The chicken and waffles was mediocre. I can't speak for the other items on their menu. Maybe they're great. But I was definitely disappointed in my chicken and waffles order.

The food was amazing, the customer service was great and was very affordable. Our waiter was kind and courteous. The food was seasoned and delicious!! Highly recommend the Georigia alcohol drink (cant remember its exact name) and the ABC shrimp mac was sooooo good!!! For my first meal ever in Phoenix I am more than pleased!! If I ever come back to Phoenix, I will definitely come back again.

Our 2nd visit and was disappointed. Our waitress was nice but the place seemed overwhelmed and it wasn't busy. Our meal seemed rushed and the chicken was overcooked with no flavor. One customer complained and the chef bought him out a fresh order, but why serve it in the first place. Standards have dropped, I do not recommend.

  • 4/5 john t. 2 years ago on Google
Expect to wait. Sir was helpful and kind. I got the Nay Nays which came with great waffles, bland eggs, and horrible grits. The chicken was good but I don't recommend getting the wing as it comes with little to no meat. The kool-aid lemonade drinks were pretty good, the alcoholic kool aid drinks were okay. The banana pudding is great and the red velvet cake is okay.

Lo-Lo's Chicken and waffle central south down town is the worst place to eat if I could rate this place I'd give it a minus five stars. All of the staff that my friend and I was dealing with was rude and disrespectful us. The staff had a big chip on their shoulder . The order taker acted like we where inconveniencing her. When we where paying for food at restaurant I was over charge for our food. When we got our food it took order 40 min later they forgot half our order. When we get back to our office, the chicken was dry and cold. The mass potato when souppe and we never got cornbread or biscuits. The parking lot was hard to get in too. What a shame this was Mom and Pop restaurant. I recommend not going to this restaurant or it other loaction. They didn't understand what good customers services is. Plus they serving was horrible. The food was cold. you could get food poisoning that way. So please save your money and go find a chicken restaurant that has better customer service and food bing hot.

  • 4/5 Nejla F. 1 year ago on Google
The chicken fingers were tasty, nice big pieces too. I had a side of mac & cheese, it tasted pretty good but it was dried out, like it had been sitting out for a while, or not covered in the fridge. The fries were good. My friend had the same chicken with green beans and potato salad for her side dishes. She said the green beans were spicy. The potato salad was very basic, not my kind of potato salad, but I didn't (& wouldn't) order it. We didn't get the cornbread that goes with our meals. 😕 Service was a bit slow, but it was dinner time. Our server were friendly, nice girl! Overall, good food and I would definitely go back.

Visiting from GA, my husband and I truly enjoyed the southern soul food detail of this restaurant. Only was the food good, but it felt like a family function. They have a DJ on Saturday and Sunday, which definitely added to the environment. Wish there was one of these back in GA!

We left here STUFFED! This was my first time in Phoenix and I was worried that the food just wasn't gonna be good but this place set the bar for the rest of my time here. The food was so good. The fish was perfectly fried. Eggs with the onions were flavorful. The waffles were delicious, thin yet fluffy. The grits were buttery. Mashed potatoes and green beans 🔥🔥 we ate so much there and enjoyed all of it. Make sure you get the kool-aid! Also, some of the best sausage gravy I've ever had.

A solid soul food restaurant. The chicken was absolutely delicious. The greens are good and spicy how I like them. If you like creamy Mac-n-cheese and sweet dense cornbread then you’ll like this. The rooster punch was delicious and had the perfect kick to it. I look forward to trying breakfast food. It’s a very chill atmosphere with good music.

1st time here. It was packed, they said it was a 45 minute wait, so I had to see what they were offering. We end up only waiting about 30 minutes tops. They were pretty good. The staff was very nice and friendly. Winner winner fish and chicken dinner 😋🤤 Mac and cheese and collards were yumazing. Oh and the cornbread was yummy too. I'll be back for sure.

Food was great service was some of the best I’ve had in a very long time. Plenty of workers. They didn’t make us feel rushed. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the music selection. I would not recommend cocktails from here as this is not a full service bar and the drinks are kool-aid based. Other than those two minor things I highly recommend going if your in Arizona. You can’t go wrong with the chicken and waffles by far the waffle is one of the best I’ve had and the chicken taste like it came out of my grandmothers cast iron skillet. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Wonderful food, absolutely mouthwatering delicious chicken!! We also got a side of the fruit, but will not from here again. The fruit was just a banana and a few blueberries, but you don't go to a chicken place for fruit haha. Everything else was amazing from staff to food! We even bought their t shirt, very cool Star Wars theme 🖖

This place has got to have the best waffles I've had in a while. They are a bit thin so I recommend getting at least 2. Chicken on the bone was good and juicy, the only reason I'm docking a star is because I got a phat az* sandwich and while huge, it was DRY. I just couldn't eat it without it hurting my mouth. The atmosphere is great tho, friendly and on top of drinks. I'll be back here for waffles when I'm back in phoenix for sure.

I love the atmosphere and soon as we walked in we were greeted by 3 staff. The waiter was pleasant very friendly and explained everything. I wasn’t expecting my strawberry lemonade to be so large in size in a to go cup. We ordered the shrimp and grits, the chicken and waffles. The grits had an amazing flavor and the chicken and waffles was delicious. I’m from back east and I’ll be back soon. I will be back again.

The food was worth the wait. They had a live dj playing some great music. Our server was spot on and never left us hanging. It's a go to when you need some good ol home cooked chicken and waffles and Kool-aid!

I had the biscuits and gravy with a side chicken thigh. Greg had the hot link, grits, and eggs. Drinks were a peach vodka with sweet tea, and Greg had a Miller light. We'll definitely go back!

1st visit here. Came from Texas to see friends after Thanksgiving 2023. OMG other than 50min wait time for our food it was great. Waffles superb. Chicken flavor was like nothing else I have ever had. Definitely coming back to try there other items. Give them a try 😉

  • 4/5 Bau&Hoa 5 months ago on Google
Great fried catfish, okra, chicken and waffles. Waffles is thin and has a hint of coconuts. Okra was crispy and delicious. Catfish was thick and juicy. Chicken thighs were fried perfect. Chicken breast was a little dry. Chicken gizzards didn’t taste like the gizzards I am used to. I like smaller gizzards with a little more chew. These were thick pieces that tasted more like livers.

Went in on a Saturday morning, place was pretty packed. No one was assigned to wait on our table so it took a while to get our orders started. Waitress finally made her way over, was very apologetic and even hooked us up with our choice of a biscuit or corn bread to hold us over till our food was ready. I ended up ordering the Double D's, two fried chicken breast and two waffle. She went ahead and threw in a third breast for the long wait time. I've come to this place a number of times, my first time was before they remodeled and expanded this store. I've never been disappointed with the food or the service. Always a good experience!

  • 5/5 S A. 4 months ago on Google
We had to check this place out due to the hype. We were not disappointed! The food was good. Everything was flavorful, and the greens definitely have a little kick. As you can see in the photo, you get a nice size portion for the veggie plate. The waffle wasn't as thick as expected, but it was still good. Drinks were great (you will get a buzz)! My wife loved the Kool-Aid. Yes, Kool-aid 🤯! She mixed 2 flavors and was in sugar heaven. Lo Lo's was definitely worth it. Our waiter, Sir, was also on point. My only complaint is that the entire floor was slippery. It could've just been my shoes (Vapormax) that made it worse than it was, but I had to walk carefully. Also, arrive as soon as they open because it got packed really fast. Oh, on the way there, it did look a little suspicious, and we did ask our driver where the hell we were going, but it's safe 😁.
