Welcome Diner is one of the best breakfasts in town. We are from San Diego, and this restaurant reminds us so much of our little neighborhood in South Park. Trendy, welcoming, small menu with a big taste. We always bring our out-of-town guests here, and it’s a great intro to the Phoenix food scene. There’s a private parking lot and always plenty of street parking. Walk-up to order window with plenty of Indoor and Outdoor seating. Thank you, Welcome Diner Team, for always being awesome!

What a great little diner tucked in a residential neighborhood! My boyfriend and I went here for brunch today. I had the Big Jim and he had the Welcome Toast with two extra eggs. Mine was basically chicken, bacon and a biscuit with homemade chips and sausage gravy. I also ordered two over medium eggs which they added in the biscuit sandwich. The biscuit was absolutely fresh and delicious! The sausage gravy was the best I've ever had! The chicken was perfectly fried and made the sandwich taste delectable! The chips also were very tasty too! My boyfriend's French toast was nice and fluffy and he said tasted really good as well. This place is reasonably priced with great food and comes highly recommended!

First time here, this place is awesome. In a residential area, who would have thought this neat little place would be here. A lot of vegan friendly options on the menu, super friendly staff and service was fast. I definitely want to come back for breakfast sometime

Went several times while in Phoenix for work and everything I had was superb. That poutine is genius and the prickly pear lemonade is a can't miss. Only wish I had room for dessert from there because I'll bet it's awesome.

Great grub spot! We decided to go here after a search on yelp and recommendation from friends. The vibe is very chill here and the staff are wonderful, along with the good foods and drinks. Situated in a corner spot, surrounded by homes, this place provided the perfect amount of cool chic and hipster vibe. The menu delivers an array of great comfort food with a whimsy flair. Worth checking out if you need a place to escape from the corporate world and enjoy a good meal.

We looked up Arizona staples and this place popped up. Seeing that it's a diner, we expected good service, good food, and good prices. When we arrived, we were confused on how to get inside because we saw a line outside. But as we further investigated, we saw we just walk in. Then we got seated at the bar and we don't drink so it was pretty uncomfortable (we ended up taking an empty booth later). The menu choices were very small and kind of hard to understand. We ended up ordering a burrito and biscuits and gravy. It took 35 minutes to get our food and it was just alright. Noticing the biscuit was fairly dry with just a little bit of gravy, I asked for some more and was told it would be $5 for a side. We were unsatisfied with the service, time, and prices and waited about 15 minutes to get our check. For being listed as an AZ staple, I expected to leave with good memories. But this place left me feeling that the employees do not care about your time.

Let me start off this review by saying the food tasted good. We had no problem with the way the food was prepped or served. The reason i am giving this location a 1 star review is due to the service we received. When we arrived at the location there was a short line and we expected to wait some time. But as we stood in the line outside to dine, people would walk into the diner and be seated immediately. No one was ever informed that if you go inside you will be served faster. We waited in line for close to 30mins. When it was our time to put our order the host said "hold for just a minute" and then we saw 2 guys go into the diner (who had just walked from the parking lot) and get seated with menu and drinks immediately without wait. After ordering it took over 45 minutes to get our food. The moral of this story is if you have an hour to 1.5 hours to spend to get the food. Go for it. It tasted good. The atmosphere was nice but the service was terrible.

Welcome Diner sits on a subtle neighborhood corner like a perched rare bird glowing in the night. You’ll feel like you’re in an oasis. Maybe it’s the cooling mist that sprays from the trees or maybe it’s the staff! Visit here and experience a well run establishment. These folks know what they are doing. Clean, friendly, splendid services. No frills here, the persistent high quality food plus cocktails will bring you back. I find myself ordering foods I normally would not eat. The music is always soft in background and you won’t find higher quality food late into the night that Welcome Diner. It’s hard to say goodbye.

I had the Windy City hot dog and it was great. I'm definitely coming back for breakfast. Breakfast is all day. Great service, cute diner, outdoor seating with patio misters and plenty of parking.

Visiting family and instead of waiting 2.5 hours for a mediocre meal we opted for this wonderful spot. I had the fried chicken sandwich on the most tender and flavorful biscuit ever! Also Brussels sprouts— perfectly charred —Others had burgers. Kudos all around to the staff. Love the vibe here. Outside patio is a sweet spot after sundown. Oh! And and next time can I have the kid’s PBJs? Next level! Sorry: no food pics — we gobbled it up too fast.

Went here for the first time this evening. Loved the burger. The host greeted me and was helpful the whole time. The lemon pie I got for to go was scrumptious! Not cheap but worth it. I can't wait to go again. Also the workers cooking on the line were so focused and professional. Shout out to y'all, I noticed the hard work.

Visiting from Chicago. Food was great! So surprisingly delicious. I was expecting mediocre since it's a diner, but it was all really quite perfect. Service was also great. I had a mimosa and my daughter had a fruit punch. We loved them both. A1 experience. If I ever come back, I'm down to eat here again for sure.

This place has a great atmosphere, it feels like home. The decor really fits with the downtown vibe. The food and drinks are good and available late. This is a great place to hang out, especially when you can sit outside. Check it out.

Fun vibe and lots of originality and charm. The food is almost really good. The chicken biscuits are delicious but would work better as a platter than a sandwich - too much bread and the biscuit is too dry. Great mac and cheese. Desserts are fine but not that special. Cornbread is different but not so much in a good way. Fun attempt. Mixed execution.

My favorite restaurant in Phoenix. An easy go-to. Provides options for all kinds of appetites and tastes. Upbeat, friendly, quirky, delicious, homemade, simple yet diverse selection. Great decor, feels like visiting a cool friend's home kitchen. The staff here is amazing, friendly and funny. I'm always in a good mood when I leave.

I had this place on my list of places to check out because I noticed they had a good amount of vegan options. I decided to check them out for brunch. I will say though they have a brunch menu, there are no vegan options on it, but luckily they have an all day breakfast menu that had a vegan option. I ordered the tofu scram-bowl and it was hands down the best vegan scramble I’ve ever had. I added avocado to it and I highly recommend ordering it that way because their avocado was so fresh and a nice touch to the dish. The arugula that’s piled on top seemed misplaced. I ate it separately as a little salad because the scramble didn’t really need it. The sauce that’s drizzled on top was what stole the show. It has a perfect amount of heat and an amazing flavor to it. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and my god their lattes are amazing. The vanilla flavoring was subtle and it wasn’t too sweet. The espresso had a nice rich flavor. This was the best vegan breakfast that I’ve had in Phoenix thus far. They have a nice patio with misters on that make the heat manageable. We opted for sitting inside, and the inside has a nice diner feel to it. I will definitely be coming back to check out their happy hour, and more of their vegan menu items. They also have rotating vegan comfort food on Thursdays!

Cozy little diner, everything was kept nice and clean. The staff were very polite and friendly. Very fast service we barely waited any time at all for our food. The house made biscuits were really good. The poutine was great and could have been a meal itself. The prickly pear lemonade was out of this world amazing. I will be coming back again and again for the lovely brunch experience.

Dog friendly. Very hipster vibes. Mac and cheese was great, added Brussel sprouts and jalapeño relish. *chefs kiss* The Carol was also really good, great sauce. They should sell it. The drinks were also good. They don’t have the normal selection of Jess was a great bartender.

First time in. Lured here by a friend who wouldn’t stop talking about it. For good reason. The diner is quaint. It’s really refreshing that it’s located in the Roosevelt neighborhood and not on a major road or in a super busy area. This place is tucked away and so there’s ample street parking. The atmosphere is open and inviting. And as you can see, the food was really good too. Bummed they were out of the hibiscus date cherry pie but enjoyed the strawberry rhubarb. Staff were easy to talk to and busting their butt for great service.

Welcome Diner is aptly named. The staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is comfortable. I had the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich along with the Pulled Pork Fries. They were fantastic. The fried green tomatoes were fried to perfection and we're tasty. The pulled pork was served with a wonderful tangy mustard based bbq sauce. I finished it off with a slice of Salted Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie. That was paired perfectly with a cup of black coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Welcome Diner today.

Beautiful place beautiful people. Located at an intersection so there's parking on the street and behind the building. Nice shaded area to sit outside or you can choose to sit inside at a booth or the bar. Jahir is an excellent hostess and waiter.

As soon as my Big Jim sandwich hit my mouth, I was immediately sad it was going to be gone at the end of my meal. Welcome Diner has the best "diner" food around with an amazing retro atmosphere. I recommend it to everyone now and am so glad my family and friends found this Phoenix staple!

Located in a former church with stained glass windows and some items from a time capsule which would’ve been interesting to read except they are mounted on walls over other tables...High ceilings make it very noisy. Lively vibe. Live music when we were there added to the din. However, the tacos were delicious—I had the lobster taco and al pastor. Both delicious as was the seasonal margarita. Slow service.

The food is amazing (best fried chicken biscuit I've had to date!). The cocktails are amazing. Worth a stop! This is such a fun diner, the cool Phoenix nights with a cold cocktail and food is such a great experience! The servers and staff were all great, our first chicken biscuit sandwich was undercooked when I cut it in half but I took it back inside and they made me a new one without any questions and were really quick about it. The outdoor seating area is a must. The salad was delicious, gumbo was spicy and tasty, the mac and cheese was amazing. I would go back and back and again if I lived in town! First friday on roosevelt is a short walk down the road if you want to cocktail and then shop!

We sat at the counter and watched the cooks. Everything looked great. The Jackfruit fries were amazing and so was the big Jim sandwich. Will definitely be back to try more of the delicious food. There was a huge patio but I'd really recommend sitting at the counter in front of the cooks if possible

We got into Phoenix airport late, this place was close enough, and super hungry! This place had good reviews and was open till 2am. Perfect. One of the most delicious grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had. Not exaggerating! The smoked Gouda and smoked tomatoes with the slightly charred sourdough bread reminded me of bacon, as a vegetarian I miss that smoky bacon crunch on sandwiches. The brussel sprouts and vinaigrette based slaw were very good as well. Staff all had great energy. Just exceptionally laid back, efficient, and friendly beings. Much needed after a long day of airport travels. Food came out fast. Beer and liquor selection was decent. Overall the ideal "Welcome" into Arizona for us.

BEST ? COFFEE ?I? HAD ?THE? WHOLE ? TRIP. I had the daily scramble and I subbed salad, while my guest had it with potatoes. I was actually really happy about eating green salad for breakfast. But probably not every one agrees. Anyhow, I ordered coffee too. They said they were making a fresh batch and it would be ready soon. It came halfway through eating my meal, but the wait was worth it. The sweetness and aroma of blueberries was just heavenly. It is the best drip I have ever had outside of a coffee house.

We had planned on another restaurant but it was closed (Monday). So we just went to the Welcome and had a lovely meal. We ate outside which meant a nice space with lighting reflecting the neon sign, ordering at the window, more 'delivery' than wait staff but fine. The food was high quality, moderately distinctive takes on American classics. Big Jim - a kind of fried chicken and bacon sandwich - was a special treat. Excellent fries. Reasonable prices. Food came fast. In short, an excellent diner with more flair than many.

It took me so long to try this place out that I understand they moved from their original location into this new location. The building itself has a great modern diner vibe and plenty of outdoor seating. There are several booths inside and seats at the counter. I was a fan of the vibe. Three of us sat inside and took our time ordering. It was 5pm on Monday so it wasn't too crowded. Our server was nice and let us take our time after letting us know what the specials were. They have happy hour during the week from 5-7 with a few food and drink specials. The menu isn't too large but has a good mix of offerings. There were several items I wanted to try but I landed on the bumblebee biscuit (fried chicken, honey, beer mustard, pickles). It came with a small side of watermelon. I thought flavor wise it was great and it definitely hit the spot. My girlfriend got a welcome burger and fries and my friend got the champion burger with fries (bacon jam, cheddar, thousand island, tomato, arugula). It's a large portion of food. The fries are crispier which is my preference. They both needed to go boxes. Overall it's a cute spot and a solid menu. I would definitely return, especially when it's a little cooler outside to hang on the patio.

  • 5/5 Kathryn D. 3 years ago on Google
If you're looking for the unique, quirky, off the beaten path side of Phoenix, come to the Welcome Dinner. With 9 stools around a bar near a hot kitchen, it is a small place with a lot to see. The cooks are very friendly and talkative and will give you their opinion on their dishes if prompted. Try the classic cheeseburger, fries, and soda - it's definitely a favorite.

  • 5/5 Rosalinda B. 4 years ago on Google
My friend and I went to the diner and were able to get seats inside at the tiny counter. I'm sure as it gets warmer, those will be harder to come by and that when the weather is nice, most people sit outside. It is indeed a tiny space on the inside and half the seats have a direct view into the kitchen area, which is kind of homey. I'm pretty small, so the size inside wasn't an issue for me, but claustrophobes and bigger people might feel squished. I ordered a hamburger and fries and my friend got an egg sandwich. The burger was pretty good but relatively small in comparison to what's generally served at restaurants. If you're really hungry or a big eater, you'll probably want to go for the double burger. The fries were good - nice and crisp. My friend was pretty happy with her egg sandwich but unhappy with her cup of water, which was apparently pretty bad even for tap water. They have a bunch of organic sodas, along with Coke and Diet Coke, if you're like me and can't wash down a burger and fries with anything but a carbonated beverage. Overall, I thought it was a pretty cool place and will definitely return with more friends in tow. (Possibly for one of their movie nights...movies + tasty food = a good time). Bonus points for their helping with the downtown rejuvenation while also supporting local businesses (Schreiner's, Mary Coyle's).

Make sure not to zone out while you're driving to the Welcome Diner or you'll zip right past it (as my friend and I did). It's right on the corner of 10th Street & Roosevelt in a cute little red and white dining car. There are a few parking spaces behind the diner on 10th Street.

The welcome diners one of the coolest places I've ever eaten. Their outdoor seating is incredible, well lit for mood lighting and plenty of different sitting options depending on how many people you're eating with and if you're just drinking or drinking and eating. The inside is pretty cool too, great atmosphere. One thing to note is that the staff is very methodical, so if you feel like you're not being helped fast enough, they definitely know that you need help. They make good food, not fast food.

  • 2/5 Jessica P. 4 years ago on Google
The first time I ate here they told me they were out of hush puppies. I saw them hanging in the fryer basket so I'm not sure why I was told otherwise. Then we ordered mac and cheese, and yes, we did change it at the last minute. But we still got the mac and cheese. Which at that point took 45 minutes to get to us, so we were too hungry to pick a fight. But we did mention it and the waitress was kind of rude about it. The second time I ate here it was about 15 minutes before anyone took my order. So we ended up just leaving. I might try again but for now I just go to Gallo Blanco instead.

I ordered the Okra/potatoe/tomatoe dish and it jad great savory flavor (kind of small but I also ordered the biscuits and gravy too) and it was a good portion. My dad ordered the Welcome Burger and he thought it was just all right. My guy who served us was busy so didn't get the best vibe from him, but the greetor/hostess was very friendly. Overall I liked the food, service & value was avg/above avg. But 5 stars for the autjenticity.

This diner used to be my favorite restaurant, I would go and order the Mac n’ Cheese with bacon and a Hibiscus Lemonade. This was before COVID hit. Then they closed for months and finally reopen. I was so excited I brought my boyfriend with me like before and we ordered what we usually got and the menu had changed and the burgers were practically 5 times smaller. We considered the burger a kids meal and instead of fries we got chips. my mac and cheese was okay but i didn’t get bread crumbs on it like usual. and no more hibiscus lemonade.

First time and I was disappointed. The biscuits in in the IG pics looked delicious but were hard and dry. I really wanted to love this place and go back over and over but I guess it wasn't meant to be. The welcome mule had little to no alcohol and too tangy. I love a good mule, but didn't find it here. The fries kind of sealed the deal.

Cozy spot inside the pierce neighborhood. If you like a good ole fashion diner style food with and updated atmosphere, then you should totally check this place out! Their patio is adequately shaded and has enough seating for the lunch rush. The food is solid diner food, I had the No Way Jose burger double patty and it was fantastic. Their ranch is also homemade if you like that kind of stuff. You can tell the food is reach and made in house, especially the French fries. I loved to visit their previous location on Roosevelt and I can see why they had to expand! Fun neighborhood joint I highly recommend checking out. Also, they have a full bar with lots of good drink options!

Great place. Outside seating is the best. The BumbleBee Chicken and Biscuit is a must. The Mac and Cheese is also tasty, but the fries were a little too salty. Still love this place and will always return.

This was the first time I had ever been to this place and I was very impressed. Food and staff were great, social distancing and safety measures in effect. We went with a group of friends so we got to see a little of everything off the menu. There isn't a kids menu but my 2yr old son had the grilled cheese sandwich with fries and we all had a bite and loved it. I had the Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, biscuits, potatoes and eggs and I will say it's a pretty hearty meal. The Mac and Cheese looked great and the person eating confirmed it's deliciousness. They have great drinks, I enjoyed a Bloody Maria (Bloody Mary with Tequila) and that was great! I will definitely be coming back to try different menu items

Super friendly staff and excellent fried chicken! We also tried the grilled cheese with tomato jam, I wasn't a huge fan of the tomato jam...wasn't what I was expecting, but it's always fun to try new things. The patio had a great vibe with lots of shade trees! A great place of the beaten downtown path!

If you don't want left overs and want room for dinner this is the place. The burgers are like sliders, pretty small and tasty but not worth the price. The atmosphere is pretty unique like an old school diner but with heavy metal music blasting. Overall, pretty good food and service, may be worth a try if you're downtown Phoenix.

Wow... I saw some good reviews and decided to check it out for dinner since it was close to my hotel... little did I know, I'd be in for one of the best pulled pork sandwiches of my life! And I've had a lot of them. The salad was excellent too. The cocktail was delicious, the service was friendly, and the outdoor seating was really chill. I was traveling solo for work, but this would be a fun place to eat with a group too.

I had the bumble bee chicken sandwich. It was really good with honey and a spicy mustard on top. You can get fries or a side salad with it. Every employee is super friendly. There is outdoor seating with misters.

We’ve been coming to the Welcome Diner since back in the day when they were located off of Roosevelt. They have always treated us like family. Every time we have friends or family over from out of town we always suggest this place because the food quality is always top notch and the staff is always a pleasure. They have the best Big Jim chicken biscuit sandwich. The PBR is always cold! perfect for the AZ warm nights. The daily special is always a hit !! Don’t think twice, Welcome and come on down to your neighborhood diner !

Welcome Diner is definitely a vibe and I'm bummed that I didn't get to experience dining in. We ordered online and picked up takeout. The quality of the food was good, but I'm sure it would have been better served hot. The food is a bit pricey in my opinion, but it is high quality for a diner.

Great diner! Enjoyed my smoked pulled pork benedict. We also liked the lil birdy (fried chicken sandwich w/ cheddar). Tasty fries too!

Amazing food and service. The chicken sandwich was incredibly good and the cocktail with Jaritos was very tasty. Love this spot in my neighborhood!
