I’m sorry to say I use to come here a lot. It’s always busy every time I come and nowhere to sit. Bad experience with the barista I asked for extra ice with my drink and she was giving me an Attitude and kept going off on me. I told her it’s not about the money and she keeps making me look like I don’t know what I’m talking about. Every coffee shop I’ve been to never have I been treated like that. Even my friends got upset because i told them how I like it and they made a big deal. I’m so upset how I was treated. I just wanted my coffee my way…. Coffee isn’t just black and white and always the same way.

I stopped coming here for a while because the service was horrible. I decided to give it another try with my friends today and it was even worse. All the baristas there were so rude to my friend ordering coffee. They were loud and humiliated her in front of everyone while she was placing an order. I never had a chance to grab her name because I was in shock how someone can talk to a customer in that manner. She had dark brown hair and has an absolutely disgusting attitude. We bought the coffee but never again will I return. There’s so many other local coffee shops in the area to support.

Absolutely love this place! Super cool little speakeasy in the back of Lux on Central. Amazing craft cocktails, fantastic service and reasonably priced. They have a specialty food menu or you can order from the every day amazing food that Lux offers. Best part about this cool joint is the people. I have never met a staff member that wasn't completely awesome!

By far a gem in Downtown Phoenix! Super tucked away and the atmosphere swing when walking in was rad! The pastries were incredible! Got the strawberry thumbprint and the pb Sandwich and the matcha drink. The layout of this establishment is super cool and the fact that they have a speakeasy tucked away and connected through the cafe is very genius like! The staff here was super friendly and helpful. Lines can get long here but it's well worth the wait! They also have a lot of couches, chairs and tables to get your work done! It is loud but very manageable. Parking was a breeze. Would highly recommend! P.s please take your phone calls outside because nobody wants to hear your conversation😅

We are big fans of this place. It is a bit rustic inside, but the food and service are great. The selection of pastries was great and the coffee is top notch. The service is always friendly and helpful. Parking can be challenging depending on the time and day you visit. We stop in every time we are in the area. Enjoy.

By far, the coolest coffee shop around. The wide variety of pastries are unbelievable great - fresh, healthy or not so much. There's fresh fruit all over the place. Hidden rooms to enjoy a coffee. Funky artwork adorn the walls. Ice coffee absolutely delish but small and $13.50 for two. A bit much. All in all, a great experience on many levels.

I would have never expected the treat that I was about to experience, when viewing the place from outside. But, Lux Central offers some of the best quiche and nuanced coffee outside the Europe. A great, relaxed atmosphere that mixes old with new, casually careless, yet welcoming like a hug from a friend.

A very unassuming, slightly tricky place to find if you don’t know what to look for. There is no sign to indicate where to go and the entrance faces the parking lot behind the building. That being said, once you’re inside here it is easy to get overwhelmed. Their menu is extensive, with a full cocktail section in the south corner as well as the traditional cafe experience when you walk in. I ended up ordering a raspberry cheese danish, a lemon cranberry scone and a butterscotch banana muffin, along with an almond milk chai and a red eye. The butterscotch muffin was the highlight of my morning! So delicious and sweet with fresh banana on the bottom. This place feels very too cool for school but still had great energy and would highly recommend stopping by on your visit of Phoenix.

Right in the middle of downtown and along the light rail is a local, unique coffee shop -- Lux. Lux serves rich, hot coffee and espresso drinks. You'll find an assortment of treats and pastries and sandwiches served fresh. Literally, the stop serving once the day's allocation is gone. I like to get here early if I want to find a seat. It does get over-crowded at times and, actually, it can be hard to find a seat out of the hot sun on occasion. The funky, industrial chic decor adds to the shops charm.

The place is very welcoming and you can immediately feel at home. They offer wide variety of coffee, aswell as alcoholic beverages and delicious food and pastries. Used to frequent this place a few months back, hoping to see this place again soon. Oh and their Mac n Cheese are to die for.

I’ve been going to Lux for years and it was always my favorite local coffee shop. But I have to give one star because I was shocked at what I experienced this week. The doors were all closed and there was no air circulation while the entire place was packed with many people without masks. There are very few chairs to sit outside despite abundant space. The chairs outside were in the strong sun, making it difficult to sit there for more than a few minutes. Additionally, I have never paid so much for a SMALL latte...$7!!! That’s unheard of! It was a small latte with soy milk. People choosing milk alternatives should not have to pay so much more. I almost didn’t want to tip thinking about how much I’d pay in the end. But they are the ones putting their health on the line by working in those conditions. I had to at least tip. Customer service was also so so, but I don’t try not to expect the norm these days given the global situation everyone is pressed by. Lux, please respect the community’s health and safety, and stop being a spreader hub. Please make your pricing equitable and decent. Thank you.

Great coffee shop. Lots of options. There’s seats outside too. I got the iced velvet coffee. It’s my favorite also got whip cream. So good. It’s home made whip cream! Wanted a chocolate croissant but they sold out. It’s a popular item.

I was apprehensive to come here based on the poor reviews related to customer service. I went and tried it anyway. Service was okay when ordering. However, a while later when I asked where the restroom was, the girl literally rolled her eyes at me. FYI, If you go there, the restroom can be found making a right where the refrigerators in the hall are, and then taking the first left.

Lux Lux! Love this coffee shop, the brew has so much flavor and the environment is industrial and rustic. Concrete floors with brick wall. Unique multi-dimensional light fixtures with a combination of couch and comfy chair seating. Bench seating also. I had the grilled chicken snadwhich, so fresh, incredible arugula flavor with a side salad. The art here is awesome, it has a great vibe 💯. The atmosphere looks just as awesome as the food and coffee tastes. Stefan at the front talked to me about the area and the food, super quality nice service and really gave a homely feel. So this was almost a perfect experience. My initial interaction with the front counter and while I was asking questions was cool. But then when I went to order my food, the young man definitely had an off putting attitude. Like many people in the reviews have said; it's this "too cool for school attitude". It's unfortunate how one interaction can definitely throw the rating off. I was happy that even though he told me that breakfast was over; there were still brunch items on the lunch menu. However, the young man with the hat in the back? He had good energy. He was very friendly and helpful. The food was overall good but the pancake could have been a little bit warmer. Bacon was good. Like other people have said, the front room is too loud. I would say it was overall a positive experience, and I will definitely be back to try it again.

Even during corona the service was speedy, got a hot americano with cream and sugar. Really went well with the complimentary chocolate chip cookie that’s, to literally die for. I love their club sandwich here, and I will usually drive out of my way to get one. They also have a great selection of lunch items, smoothies, and of course, coffee. This is a small coffee shop that offers outdoor seating and great service. Either way, I would highly recommend going to this place for lunch or coffee.

I was looking for somewhere with a decent choice for breakfast and discovered this gem. I’m vegetarian, so there were several good options for me too. The service is friendly and efficient. Both of our meals were very tasty, hot and of great quality. Tea and coffee were great quality too. This is somewhere we will return to soon.

This coffee shop is an independent, quality-driven coffee company. Their big focus on what coffee they serve is based around seasonality, coupled with their strong brand and talented baristas. They’re a force to be reckoned with. I could assure you guys that you can be addictive once you would taste their different flavors of coffee.

Best egg sandwich in Phoenix. If I’m feeling something a little sweet on the weekend, the iced Velvet with espresso whip. Other than that, the iced coffee will our hair on your chest. I sure hope to spend a lazy Saturday morning here again soon.

Great drinks, tasty food, but LONG lines! The line is intimidating and may have partly been people ordering drinks/pastries togo, but I think it's worth the wait. That being said prepare if you go during prime weekend brunch hours. However, there are usually a couple spots open at the bar up for grabs. Couches and a couple community tables are available if your bottom just wants to find a seat. Dutch baby was great - not too sweet and the whipped cream it came with had a touch of coffee. Drinks were great, and the bartender was friendly and quick. Overall, cute place to get brunch, chat over some drinks, and start your day. Parking in their shared lot or on the street.

Great place to work and catch up with friends! It has a chic and stylish place. Good thing they have Wi-Fi here! Their cakes are good, especially the Cheesecake, which I like the most. Some of the best coffee I have had in phoenix. The workers are very nice. I do have a complaint about the business itself, lux seems to be such a "hip" place but for some reason they dont post on social media (at all) but especially when they are closed for the day.. There have been 3 separate times that I drove to lux just to see notes posted on the door about them being closed. That's crazy that they dont simply post online to notify their loyal customers. Very frustrating!

The flavor of a morning coffee was comforting and exciting that was the reason why I don't miss drinking coffee every day. I always choose this place too for it's cozy and the design theme is appealing especially if you like taking a photo for Instagram. The bartender was very cool and responsive! This is an ideal place for me!

I lived in NYC for 8 years, and I’ve been to Paris. But still - nothing beats being home in AZ having Lux nearby. Their pastries and coffee are the best around. (I do still miss the old building! New one is pretty tho.)

I love Lux. I love their pastries, the atmosphere, the food and drinks, the COFFEE of course. Their house made whipped cream is to die for. The espresso martini is my favorite drink, the pork belly BLT is delicious, and they have so many good desserts, I wouldn't be able to name just one (plus they're always changing!) Going to Lux is a favorite pastime of mine.

We visited for coffee after a long walk on a cold frosty day. My partner, who considers himself to be quite an expert on such matters, declared this coffee shop to be the best he has ever tasted. Great hipster place for a breakfast. It locates in a simple building without any sign ( or at least I didn’t notice it ) so it’s quite hidden. Open concept cosy decor inside. Friendly stuff. My egg sandwich and muffin were delicious-very fresh and well done. My chai latte was good - but size wasn’t so large - I I would add more milk ( I really don’t understand why they fulfilled only 60% of my huge mag). Anyway - great place with a great customers inside👍🏼

As a first timer I had a bit of a challenge locating LUX on the first try at 6am and in the dark...but the adventure paid off. Tucked behind the building was the door to the freshest pastries (literally the croissant came out of the oven, onto the display and into my togo box while I ordered) and best pulled shot of espresso we've experienced in Phoenix. All this goodness was produced and served by an efficient team, clearly good at what they do and entirely more friendly than I can muster at 6am. One review called the place "cozy". I wouldn't say that, at least not at 6am. At that time of morning it's a bit frenetic, filled with the motion and sound of a production bakery feeding a steady stream of morning commuters and other early risers. Just like the morning coffee run should be! Go!

I usually love this place but this past visit was not so great . The place was packed as if there isn't a Pandemic going on .There was no social distancing measures put in place besides the faded 6 feet markers on the floor which people did not adhere to .

I love the drinks and the sweets. I've noticed a difference in the baristas based on time of day. Usually super friendly and on it. This day, I went around 10. I would consider it quite busy. I was attempting to get my husband drink order via phone and the lady taking orders was standing in front of me by the glass panels. Hes starting to call out what he wants and she says I'm going to go to the next in line. I said he was giving me the drink order. So she says ok. I tell my husband to repeat and at this point she literally starts asking the people behind me what they want for dessert. That wasn't the issue, what was the issue is she is still standing in my face yelling at them instead of going behind me or letting me pass her to get to the counter. So I had to let her know I couldn't hear him while she yells at those behind. Now she stands quiet. My husband orders and we get to the front. The cashier was super polite and made a joke of the yelling. I ordered 2 drinks and a croissant. We get the croissant and one of my drinks is called. I wait til the customer behind me pays to move up to retrieve my drink thinking the other is right behind. I'm standing and another barista walks up to ask if I need something and I advised I was waiting on my other drink. She mutters of course you are. I heard. When the yelling order taker handed my drinks over she made sure to start each sentence with my name. I will listen next time to see if that is customary or their way of indicating secrets. It was just a bad experience. If it was my first I would never return. Having worked in restaurant and retail and now overseeing customer service-speeding a customer through their order doesn't change the speed of output and only stresses the customer and adds stress to the person taking the order. I didnt see drinks being made faster from speeding through the orders. So to rush was wasteful and left me feeling bad that I didn't know what my husband wanted immediately. Sidenote we tried to look up the menu via the website but not created for mobile viewing. And we tried Google photos for a screenshot of the menu. I tried to have my order ready but wasn't expecting to be treated the way that I was. Tldr: Times of day will indicate the service. Know what you want before you walk in the building.

Best Espresso based drinks and pastries in the valley. And I have tried all the best coffee shops in the city...lol! Their espresso has this delicious, deep, intense yet still balanced flavor that comes through strongly in all their espresso based drinks. The regular coffee can be improved. Pastries are baked FRESH DAILY IN HOUSE by real pastry chefs! Try finding another coffee shop in the city that does that! Lux recently started juicing green juices as well! Great as a healthy option. They are also one of the only places in the city to get alcoholic drinks with fresh squeezed juices they lovingly prepare all day! Fresh fruits available galore too...I’m impressed!

Has all the ingredients to make a lovely coffee place that it is. The Honey Vanilla Cinnamon latte was very good and they have a good range of pastries (the flourless chocolate cake was great). The staff were super courteous and made us feel at home. Stefan and Kara were really sweet and made our first (of the many more to come..) visit memorable.

The house made chai tea is great, hot or cold, and they even recommended adding cinnamon and vanilla, which added a nice flavor depth to it. The baked goods look and taste great as well. The atmosphere is extremely chill and laid back and people watching never stops. The seating is comfy and comfortable there’s a lot of it. I highly recommend this establishment when wanting to get a nice coffee or relax with a some baked goods, or bring your laptop and work from here!

Okay, I’ve been here multiple times with a friend and it’s just gotten better. The local artist works are neat! The space is spruced and vintage at the same time. The pastry selection - wow. Although vegan options are minimal, they did cater and was so great I forgot to capture. Vegans - try the vegan pecan pear scone. Almost a meal. The specialty drinks are my go to’s. Looking forward to trying more from the menu and expanded bar soon.

Really cool unlabeled spot. Great iced coffee and delicious breakfast, although I was bummed my eggs were burned. It was a little confusing when we entered because a barista told us to not order with them at the front but to go to the bar at the other counter.. then that bartender told us to go to another room in the back and order there. The guy that served us was very nice thankfully but it shouldn’t be confusing to order food and coffee. I would definitely come back next time im in Phoenix!

Flew into Phoenix to visit a friend and this was close by. It's a little confusing inside only because they have such a great space and just one register, but the staff is super friendly. Smiles all around and I overheard multiple staff members asking people if they've been helped and what they're waiting for. On top of that, when they took my name for my drink, the 2 who spoke with me made sure they called me by my name. I'm not used to it, but it's a touch to be great with service. Their cold brew was great black and had great flavor. It's not watery, it's not a weak roast, and it's not packed full of any flavors that outweigh any others. Great danish too

Lux is always a good vibe with good music, good service and great food/drinks. We ordered the NY strip which comes with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Everything was full of flavor and the drinks were also delicious.

I’m visiting Phoenix, from Northern California, in town for the two day Metallica concert. I was wondering what to do around here on the day in between sets. I wanted to have a good, light breakfast and some coffee at a special spot, so after a little online searching I decided on Lux. I arrived just two or three minutes before breakfast service ended and the place was PACKED. A really cool dude weaved through the crowd and pulled me over to bar, saying he would take my order there because he didn’t want me to miss the breakfast. The breakfast and coffee arrived quickly. I have never been to any restaurant or coffee shop with such great staff before, this blows my mind. On top of all of that, the breakfast sandwich was simple, but probably the best I have ever tasted. The coffee was great too. I am really understating how good that sandwich was.. It was just what I needed after a night of heavy metal. I also got an espresso martini. I’m not one for these types of drinks but it was so damn good. Every time I visit AZ, I am floored by the friendliness and quality of the people and businesses.

Amazing food & drinks! Great for breakfast & brunch. Music is a bit loud during weekdays - lots of people working on laptops, surely most wouldn’t mind it slightly quieter. Love this place, and the staff are all amazing!

I was in town visiting a friend and she took us to Lux Central. It was a great atmosphere. I had the Margarita it was tasty and not too sweet! My friend had the espresso martini and I think I can say with confidence that that was the best espresso martini I've ever tasted!! We also got coffee drinks to go that were also amazing! If I make it back to Phoenix in the future I will make sure to try some food because the menu looked great! Definitely stop in to Lux Central if you are in the area, if you're not, make the trip!!

I was in line by 10:53am to get breakfast but the cashier was spending 2-3 mins with customers talking about life etc and by the time it was by then, it was 11:04. There was only 5 people in line. He blamed the kitchen when he should had taken responsibility for making me late to place my order. I now have to drive elsewhere for food. **update** As I left, I saw the people prior to me in line getting their breakfast. What a poorly ran establishment
