Best shredded beef tacos in Phoenix. Chips and salsa are amazing. Excellent food. Mondays are all u can eat taco night for $16.99 Get it! Menudo is ALL maiz and no meat. Best drinks in town.

I had the El Pollo Especial Muy Rico. It was flavorful, and the salsa and red sauce were both good as well. This is a family business that has been in operation for 60+ years.

I've been going here since I was young always been the best. The service is the best and friendly. The food is fresh hot and delicious. The margaritas are superb!!! Absolutely complaints. All dishes recommended. Stop in for some food and great memories.

Food was delicious we had a snappy waiter but there was a gentleman that would pass by and always asked if we needed anything our lady waiter did bring everything we asked but was just a bit rude over all experience was great definitely will be back. Very clean and organized thank you. Love the Christmas spirit 💫✨🎄

Well this has been a long time coming, as far as me writing a review of POPO's. I am a native Phoenician and have enjoying this place my whole life. What can I say that hasn't been said by many people over and over again. It is a perennial top five Mexican food restaurant in the state of Arizona in my humble opinion. Every item I've had over the years has been nothing short of great. Now here is a little secret that many don't no about unless you go there often, those margaritas ooooohhh those margaritas will get you where you need to go in a hurry either frozen or traditional. You can thank me later. Lol. The only semi critique that I have and it's more of a want then a need is that if they could sell those margaritas (all flavors) in a half gallon closed container to take home, they would make a killing for sure. Go and have one on me. Happy eating!!!

This used to be my favorite place for authentic Mexican food but recently I ordered pick up for a birthday and 1 order was wrong, my order was a mess couldn't tell what it was... I know now get your chimi ala cart when ordering pick up and everything on the side.. the rice and flavor of the food otherwise is amazing!!! If you haven't been here before I suggest dining in never had a bad meal or experience

4/2022 update: back again and they were busy, as usual. We all meet here twice a year and as A large group so it can be difficult to get seated but they were helpful. Original post: A favorite for decades though we don't make it over here often. Should've realized that we needed to call ahead though I'm not sure they'll take a reservation for only 3 people. When we arrived, around 11:30 on a Sunday, we were told it'd be about a 30 min. Wait but they didn't ask for my husband's name or number to actually get him in line for a table. It wasn't until I went back in and asked if we could bring out chips and salsa that I found this out. 😒 So, we finally actually have our names in and see someone come out with chips and salsa. We'll, I went back in and asked again and found out we could order them. I Really wish they'd said sometime the 1st and 2nd time I'd gone in, especially when I mentioned my husband being diabetic. So, we ordered, got them and were soon brought in to eat. It took a bit to get water and a bowl of chips. The staff were wonderful so running all over. The food was good, as always. In the end, we learned a bit that I hope will help us and others the next time we go.

Best Mexican food ever. Update: I haven't been here since October 2020 since we live out of state. Still the best Mexican food anywhere. Living in Arkansas the Mexican food there is horrible. It's sad when On The Border has the best Mexican food in Arkansas, lol. I just love the food and people here. I wish we could come here more often. We will be back more this week before we leave town at the end of the week.

Another favorite dish and spot!!! Super busy, however they were able to get us in quick, taken care of with no mistakes, and without feeling rushed. Unfortunately for them I did get sick (I came from the hospital not their fault lol) And blew chucks quietly in a to go bag so not to disturb anyone eating. However the bag didn't hold up and it soaked through the bottom. I felt horrible for the staff.Yes I cleaned it, but still... it's my responsibility. The staff here amazing the food was delicious The atmosphere great We will be back for sure, just not after a hospital visit!

We been here 2x and this was our 3rd time and like always the food is delicious. As you can see they serve a good amount of food which is great. Chips and salsa is unlimited. The chips were freshly made which was so good! Salsa is not too spicy is mild but delicious. Great prices as well. Will be coming back. Service was great as well.

#1 combo meal was absolutely delicious. There was way too much food for me to be able to sit in one sitting. My leftovers didn't even make it to the fridge, they immediately jumped into bellies as soon as I walked in my front door. The environment is social and personable and customer service was great.

Hadn't been here in a while, and this was the first time to dine in. This place is amazing! Had been craving tacos and Popos did not disappoint. So filling and delicious. Fast friendly service, atmosphere was great, will definitely be back!!

As soon as “Laura” our waitress came over I could tell this was not going to be a good experience. She was short, 0 customer service, and I heard her tell another coworker “COMO CHINGAN” as soon as she finished taking our order. It doesn’t matter who she was referring to, that’s enough to make your meal sour. Who wants to hear your waitress cussing 🤬 others out? Not once did she come check in to see if we needed anything. I had to flag her down twice. The second time I asked another waiter for a soda refill and the check because she just couldn’t bother to check. He whispered to her and she gave us a look and laughed. Needless to say I won’t be back. Also, as other low reviews show, the food is absolutely GROSS it has a freaking POUND of SALT 🧂 if cooks would pay attention and adjust this, the food could actually be enjoyable.

We waited a little bit to get a table for two. When we were seated we were served chips and salsa and was asked for our drink order right away. We promptly received our drinks and our server came to introduce himself and take our order. We ordered a cheese crisp and a Chimichanga enchilada style, and a #10 dinner with Red Chile burro enchilada style with rice & beans. It was all promptly served and delicious as well. The Margarita's are always great here too. We have been coming here for years, it's one of our favorite Mexican restaurants to frequent.

Favorite spot for over 30yrs . They know how to cook the best Mexican food and how to run a successful business. POPO’S is a west side must .

My wife & I came in and Jamey was our server. Food was good, but the service we received made it 10x better. We recommend this place with 5 stars. If you go here, request Jamey. He made sure all of our orders were correct with all our crazy food allergies. You will not be disappointed. Somebody promote this kid!!!

It's been about 3 or 4 years since I've been back here. I have missed this place so much! We ordered takeout Saturday and drove it back to Avondale and it held its temperature. The pollo especial is the absolute best and it fed me for 2 days lol. Portions are GREAT! Chips are not greasy! Everything is flavorful! The only complaint I would have is that I paid for the hot salsa and I was given the mild chunky one. Fyi tge picked was after I smothered it in more jalapeno cream cheese lol. Otherwise it was nicely arranged lol.

Great local Mexican food. The spinach enchilada is best I ever had. So much cheese and flavor.

Food was delicious asked questions tho and just wanted a burrito with meat and cheese for some reason my burrito had beans and rice on it kinda mad me sad but food is great

Visited here on our vacation and were blown away. Service was incredibly fast, the food was hot and delicious and the flavour was amazing. So happy we stopped by and tried Popos while in the area.

Been to the Indian School location a few times but the flavor has definitely changed. The beans were delicious but the rice was not Mexican rice, more like Spanish and did not like it nor the salsa that came with the chips, and my green burrito was a bit salty. The mango margarita was really good but lacked any hint of alcohol. I liked the atmosphere and the wait staff were friendly and I liked the fact that they did not hover over us so we could enjoy a conversation during our meal.

Great tasting mexican food! Unlimited chips and salsa. Drinky drinks tatse good as well!
