I have eaten at Chino's for years. Their old location in Phoenix, their old location in Chandler. This new location is fantastic. The new building looks great. I ordered a Jen red pork quesadilla, jade red chicken by itself and pork fried rice. The Quesadilla had nice spice to it from the pork, the tortilla was nice and crispy with plenty of cheese. The jade red chicken was tender, sweet, spicy and crispy. The pork fried rice was flavorful and loaded with delicious pork. The cherry on top is of course their complimentary snickerdooodle cookie. Absolutely fantastic meal, great new building and the staff was very friendly.

Stopped by as I saw the new location, haven't been in some time and decided it was time for a return. This time I had ordered the Jade Chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was extremely flavorful and zesty. Definitely recommend if you haven't already had it! This place has consistently good food and service. Food was ready within a few mins, I will definitely be back for more!!

I’ve loved Chino since the late 90’s. The guy at the counter today was cheerful but I didn’t get his name. The jerk chicken was what first hooked me. I honestly like everything on the menu I just prefer some things to others. I recommend a jade red chicken quesadilla with plum sauce. The egg foo young and the chili relleno are both different from anywhere else and both great. Have you ever tried a veggie quesadilla? I can’t write enough here so I’m just going to stop. One more thing -a free cookie?!!! Seriously how is Chino Bandido not more popular?

I mean you can’t go wrong with a yummy quesadilla Jadé chicken and yummy rice! And the cookie is just fun! We showed up right when they opened and there was literally a line already! It’s worth it! So yummy! 30$ for two people is kinda steep but we love supporting local so totally worth it!

My husband and I have been going here for years now, from the time they were located at 19th and Greenway. We loved the new place as well, it looks spacious compared to the old one. The food here is so good, if you live in Phoenix metro and haven’t tried it yet, you are missing something great. The flavors here is a good blend of Chinese and Mexican food, well you can figure that out from their name. They have a good portion size. I usually order a combo where you could get 2 proteins, rice (regular or fried), your choice of beans and you have choice of either burrito or quesadilla where you can add one choice of your protein. You do have choice to skip both quesadilla and burrito as well and enjoy your meal. Well their sauce is really good and don’t forget the free cookie that comes with each meal.

Chino Bandido offers a unique culinary experience, blending Asian and Mexican flavors seamlessly. The fusion of dishes like Jade Red Chicken and Jerk Fried Rice is creative and flavorful. The casual atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a must-try for those seeking something beyond traditional cuisine. Chino Bandido not only delights the taste buds but also offers great value for money. The prices are reasonable, considering the generous portions.

Been my favorite restaurant in Phoenix since its early days when its decor could have been kindly described as an eclectic collection likely acquired from several nearby school cafeterias. Although the furnishings may have changed with an upgrade, the food continues to be of the highest quality and boasts a delicious savory goodness I have as yet to find anywhere in my travels.

Chino Bandido is the reason I drive 24 hours to see my in laws. I love this place and we fill up a cooler of to go food before we leave town. I love the new location, lots of parking and seating. And the Jade chicken never disappoints.

Flew down in a small plane with a friend from the area, and tried out Chino Bandido. He raved about it, and I wanted to give it a shot, since it was featured on DDD. Having personally appeared on an episode of DDD at a friend's restaurant, I'm a fan of DDD places. The menu was a little confusing, as it wasn't exactly clear what sides/amounts came with what items. I'm sure for locals, and those who frequent this place, it's less confusing. Staff was pretty friendly, but didn't necessarily go out of their way to explain things when asked. Food wait time was normal. The food was perfectly acceptable. I wasn't wowed. I got the jerk chicken, and the jade red chicken. My friend got the Pollo Diablo. Both the jerk and Diablo chicken were supposed to be the most spicy, but I didn't think either one was particularly spicy. The Jade Red almost had more spice. Considering the hype, I was a little let down. The food was good, but it wasn't amazing. None of the flavor profiles really stood out. After a while it all just kind of blended together. The cookies were a little old/stale. We got there right at opening. Maybe some of the stuff was leftover from the day before. Rumor is the restaurant is different than when it appeared on DDD. Allegedly, the owner divorced/remarried. One wife got the original recopies featured on DDD, and the other wife got the restaurant and name. In summary - it was good, but not amazing. I might eat there again if I flew back to the area, but I would also probably look for other featured restaurants in the area. Unlike MayMoes in Logan UT, I wouldn't fly in just for this.

This is my favorite go-to restaurant in Phoenix- great food and service! I have never had a problem. The owners are hard working and take pride in their food/service. Try a jade red chicken quesadilla, it will change your life!

Having known the owners since I was a kid, I can say the people and food are both incredible. It's in an odd shopping complex and has a unique ambiance, but worth it completely! Get the jade red chicken.

Come in several times a year, and for the most part have decent experiences here. This time not so much. Ordered 2 combo plates and both had barely any rice (which cost a dollar extra) and hardly any beans (they just barely covered the bottom of the container on the side). Called up and talked to a worker there and they apologized and said they would talk to the cook. Nothing ever mentioned about trying to make it right with us. Very disappointed this time. Hopefully this new location isn't the end to their customer service.

The restaurant itself is nice and has a 90’s diner vibe. Good music and conversation. They could work on wiping down the tables more often, but for the most part it’s clean. Ordering was easy and the Unko taking my order was happy and ready to take orders with a smile. Answer all my questions and suggestions. Got my meals in about 10-15 minutes. The Jen Pork was my favorite. The crunch on the pork went great with seem like a sweet and sour sauce and paired with steam rice was DELICIOUS. The Jade Chicken was the second best but what this establishment is most none for. Also in a sauce that tasted like sweet and sour was good with the steam rice. Don’t get anything of the fried rice. They literally just fried the rice and that’s it. No real flavor to it. So the Jerk chicken was really hot. Guess I was expecting them to serve the meal with some avocado and sour cream but nothing that said it was Mexican fusion. It was just Chinese influenced. My opinion. The last meal which was #8 was DRY the meat and the bland fried rice made the water I was drinking taste like HELLA better. All the meals came with a cookie. Snickerdoodle was hard and I felt like it was missing something, but the chocolate chip cookie melted in my mouth and warm as if it just came out of the oven. All in all it was ok. I will not be returning but that’s just me.

Fast and friendly service. The machaca shredded beef was my absolute fave. The jade red chicken was a second fave. We also had the emerald chicken - it was okay, it had good flavor but prefer other 2. Love that it's family owned!

Good food good pricing huge helpings and a free Snicker doodle cookie with every order. Sit down or take out, it's great either way. I usually take half of it home for later. We came here with neighbors to wish them luck with their new location. I always have the same thing: Emerald chicken, Jade Red Pork, black beans, and house fried rice. I love the black beans because they have a faint taste of ginger. I always have leftovers, but most of the guest had none. Best snickerdoodles in the Metro.

Pretty good. Food came out fast and accurate. Place is clean and they give u new cups to help prevent the ronas. Beans were runny and need some season, aside from that it was little things that kept them from a five star.

I sure miss living near this place. even though it is clear on the other side of town from me I sometimes go treat myself. You know a place is good when it is full of police and fire fighters, they take their food seriously.

I grew up about a mile from this place. If you're from the area you'll remember the famous "Coach" bar that used to be next to it. I've been there a hundred times but I never wanted to try this place because it looked like a dump, still does. But I saw it on diners, drive in's and dives and decided to give it a shot. Woweee, that food is delicious!! Price is on point. I just wish they would do some investing and clean the place up. Other than that, perfection!

If you're seeking an excellent eating place that is hidden from crowds of people after that this is your place. We come below for several family members birthdays and also get-together and are always dealt with surprisingly. The whole personnel is fantastic as well as go out of their means to not only get you whatever you need yet likewise to have purposeful communications with my family members. I very suggest this place. Terrific area for special occasions as well as the prices are about the like various other great eating areas

The food itself is fantastic -- but when I drive miles out of my way to get here to find it closed (understandably) and it's marked open online, it's incredibly frustrating. Please let your customers know you're actually closed.

I went for a friends Birthday Lunch today. Ordered the Egg Foo Yung Bowl & the Jade Red Chicken Bowl with fried rice on both bowls and 1/2 dozen of their Snickerdoodles. Both bowls also came with a cookie. I took majority of my food home to share with hubby. Egg Foo Yung was ok, I've had much better, and gravy on it was really different from what I would expect on Egg Foo Yung, seemed more like a mashed potatoes type of gravy. Jade Chicken #7 is so so so good! Great flavor! It is slightly spicy the more you eat but so good. I always have to have sauce on any rice I eat, otherwise rice is too dry for me and makes me gag, but I love rice so I sauce it up. So I ordered extra #7 sauce to drizzle onto my rice. Sauce is a little greasy so be aware of that. Their Cookies are Great!!!

Well, for my birthday, all I wanted was chino bandido... With all things going on I hoped trying to order online would be the answer. It's not, the system is definitely flawed. My food was clearly made way before my scheduled time to pick up, and I assumed since the bag was closed up tightly, that it was what I ordered. It was missing some things, when I got home and tried calling ( twenty times, finally getting through and put on hold for 12 minutes, I called back, to be put on hold again. I was very clear I didn't want to sit on hold again, but was put on hold and forgot about again). So, now my card has been charged and I can't get a hold of anyone to fix this. Not exactly worth the long drive, over cooked food, and missing dinner.

Amazing place with a splendid ambiance! The waiters are super nice, and the food resonates with the Sicilian culture. If you want an amazing hand made pasta, do go here, do not even think about showing up without a reservation. We will definitely be coming back and recommend them to all of my friends.

Chino Bandido's, which has been featured on Guy Fiere's show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is one of the most unique restaurants in the US. Serving a fusion of Chinese and Jamaican, they have dishes that cannot be found anywhere else. Machaca Beef, Jerk Chicken, Fried Rice, Jade Pork and Refried beans are just some of the foods that can be combined in a large variety of ways. This is a location for a lunch or light dinner, and generally it is packed during lunch time. I strongly recommend trying as many of the different items as possible, because there is a great variety of tastes, textures and spices. I am certain that every one can find one or two combinations that will suit them.

Make sure you check out the menu before heading over there. So many choices, I ordered pork ribs quesadilla and Jade red chicken burrito. Black beans are so delicious. Rice options, jerk rice, white rice, fried rice.

  • 5/5 Dawn L. 3 years ago on Google
I have loved this place for like ten years and was very disappointed the Chandler location closed down years ago since I lived on Gilbert. I now am in Phx and have a better chance of getting takeout! Food is awesome! And with Covid, they have been able to retain all their employees even with no dine in service. The volanco cookie is a must for chocolate lovers! (This cookie may only be available on limited purchase so ask but the Snickerdoodle is just as good.)

This place went downhill, it use too be so good! My red chicken burrito was small barely any chicken, not much flavor besides lettuce and rice. The fried chicken rice wasn't impressive, not much spice and stale. I don't really recommend this place any more.

Have been here many times since moving to Phoenix and will go back many more times. The food is amazing and even when the line is out the door, the service is incredibly fast. Minor issues we've had were always taken care of with the best customer service. 10/10 highly recommend if you haven't yet tried it.

  • 1/5 Joseph Gazing W. 3 years ago on Google
I ordered my food and waited in the car like they told me to. After 45 minutes of waiting and watching several cars that came after me leave with their food, I went inside to ask about my food. They couldn't find my order nor my name or credit card number in their system even though my credit card was charged. The incompetent person doing this asked me several times what my name is, even while I was holding up my credit card to her face with my name on it. She asked me if I was sure I ordered under that name, while the other incompetent person who actually took my order was standing right next to her. That incompetent person instead of verifying that she took my order under my name (which I think I know my name by now), commented that I wasn't waiting that long, implying that I was being impatient. I guess if you go here be prepared to wait 45+ minutes, have people tell you you're being impatient, not deliver any food to you, but still charge you for it. If the food is as good as the service, I would be afraid to try it.

  • 4/5 AZ J. 3 years ago on Google
It's a novel hole in the wall kinda place, the food all tastes similar. Rice and beans hasn't ever changed so you should know what to expect, your mind won't be blown but it's fast and cheap.

My husband insisted not to try this place when someone recommended it, having been recommended it himself by someone before I even met my husband. Not sure how Guy Fierri kept a straight face. The concept is interesting, but it designed for those who want to eat, not those who want to eat food. It was absolutely disgusting and so greasy we both were sick afterwards. Maybe it went downhill, but I for the life of me don’t understand how so many people continue to rave about high fat, high calorie, greasy, flavorless slop.

Place has good flavor and excellent service but for the hype it gets I was expecting a little more flavor. I got a little input from the staff and decided try the jade chicken and the jerk chicken in a quesadilla. Liked the jade chicken however the jerk chicken in the quesadilla had an odd flavor. The little salsa came in to save the day. Overall good place but I’d like to give it another shot to see if it lives up to the hype

So the mistake I made was not coming to Chino for my first visit super hungry. Everyone was super helpful and nice, they are no longer doing samples (just an fyi) - I ended up getting a cheese quesadilla (boring I know) but it was really delicious and I tried my companions jade red chicken which was super tasty too. Cheap but delicious - my favorite!

I really do not understand the hype over this place. I don't believe it deserves 1-star as the restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly, food was prepared quickly and received hot; however, it really just. Was not good. :( I got a jen red pork quesadilla, jade red chicken, steamed rice, and pork fried rice. I am a huge fried rice fan, so I went for that first. It really does not have much flavor at all except a hint of black pepper. The quesadilla would have been good (nicely grilled, yummy cheese) without the pork; I just wasn't a big fan of it. The texture was fine, but the taste was just very artificial and overly sweet. The jade red chicken was similar, but even more sickly sweet. I'd sooner eat the jen red pork for sure. I only really tried the "Chinese" part of the fusion, so I can't speak for the "Mexican" part. But there are much, much better Chinese-American restaurants in the valley. I really found just about everything inedible and threw about 3/4 of my meal away. (The snickerdoodles are great, though...) Really sad. Wanted to love it. Glad other people do and still wish them the best. But definitely not for me. A plus though, for those who do love it: The servings are huge! You really do get so much food.

I've loved this restaurant and eaten here for nearly 30 years. Their new building is more modern but I prefer their humble hole in the wall restaurant they were in originally. That said the food is still what it was 30 years ago. I stop here every time I come back home to AZ. I wish they would move this fabulous cuisine to Colorado.

Is always such a good treat! Love how fresh everything is. We make a 30-mile drive just to treat ourselves. I love the Chile rellenos. You have to try them if you like crunchy and cheesy.

Absolutely AMAZING food and a casual relaxed atmosphere. Food portions are huge and excellent flavor profiles. You won't be disappointed!

Great food! There is a variety of bowls which can have either an Asian or Mexican influence. The staff has reduced the in line time process by providing a menu with pictures and descriptions before you get to the cashier. It's relative priced and the portions are huge. The staff are very efficient and nice! We go here for work lunches often and always have a great time.

Food was great! I ordered the jade red + Diablo and was delicious. Also comes with a free tasty cookie :) only thing was my girl and I ordered two difference types of rice but we got the same so maybe not as many options as they advertise but that was my girls issue not mine 🤷🏽‍♂️ everything was bomb for me

I absolutely LOVE this place. The crossover is a perfect blend of flavor and quirkiness. The first time there the menu and ordering may be a little overwhelming, but once you understand their system you will be a pro in no time. Personally I love a combo with jerk fried rice, an Emerald chicken quesadilla and Jen Red Pork. A slight secret is to get a side of sour cream to add to your beans. Of course finishing off with a snicker doodle cookie is the best if you have room.

Added to my list after seeing on DDD. Was good but not great, had the Jade Red Chicken with Jerk Fried Rice. Chicken was similar to what most places call orange chicken but slightly different flavor is was good. Jerk Fried Rice was also good, will be back since it's close to work.

Visited on a whim and it was fantastic! This place offers a wide menu selection, from rice bowls to burritos and quesadillas, allowing for customization with various bases and proteins. There’s also a free cookie that comes with your order! The generous portions, reasonable prices, and quick, friendly service made it a great experience. The spacious, clean, and vibrant atmosphere sets it apart from your typical Chipotle. If you're after a quick and satisfying meal, this spot is a must-try. I'll be returning for sure!

Have been going to Chino for a long time, never disappoints. I took my wife there for the first time and this was shocking considering she is born and raised a Phoenician like myself. The audacity!! Just kidding, she loved it though and now we will take the kids. Red Jerk Chicken is amazing and the service was very helpful and nice.

I really wanted to like this place. I've been wanting to go for a while. The meat was dry on both of the entrees that I tried. I wouldn't be surprised to learn this was an exception, and if I go back, I'll update this review. The black beans were amazing and were the highlight of the experience. It's prices are high for the quality and experience.

I usually never have a problem when eating here but the last two times my red jade pork (in the photo) and the re jade chicken have been dry and extremely chewy and hard to eat threw and today was that today again idk what’s been going on lately but it makes it not worth the high price and I hardly come because of it

The food was delicious if you enjoy spicy food I would recommend the Pollo Diablo and jerk chicken, if you don't do spicy but like more sweet go for the Jen red pork or the jade red chicken. The teriyaki sauce is really good as well. The jerk fried rice and black beans were very flavorful.

I have been coming to Chino Bandido's every time I visit Phoenix for 12 years now. It's a must stop for my rare visits here. Always tastes amazing. While I have tried the whole menu, the Jade Red Chicken, the Jerk Chicken, the Fried Rice, and the Black beans are where it is at!!! I even order extra most times to take on the plane trip home. Snickerdoodles are fresh and perfect. My warning is if it's your first time, don't come in with expectations, the unique Cajun, Mexican, Chinese fusion you will not have tried anywhere else in this world, you will love it though!

This is a place you must visit Arizona classic Mexican and Chinese food fusion. I really enjoy this place don’t be intimidated by the line it is always busy but the staff is hardworking and positive they always make the food so perfect and fresh. The line is always worth the wait and now they have a new bigger location even better.
