Staff is not trans friendly. I've exclusively been called by my dead name, despite asking immediately after that they call me by my preferred/real name. They always confirm it is displayed in my file, but then immediately resume calling me my dead name. From the receptionists, to the psychiatrists I have yet to be respected and referred to appropriately. Never even said I was trans or asked for specific pronouns, just asked 50+ times to be called something other than my dead name, and have yet to have it be respected. One of my friends has had the same experience here during the same month (March 2021) so it's something this facility needs to work on.

It took me 30 years to finally confront the issues I had been facing for far too long, thinking it was up to me and only me to fix myself. I finally decided that wasn’t working for me, and saw little hope of it changing at any point soon. Serenity Mental Health Centers goes above and beyond anything I could’ve expected, or even hoped for. The staff as a whole is always so accommodating, kind, and they will work with you regarding payments. Their top priority is your mental health, before anything else. Dr. Clay is truly wonderful, and I always feel so comfortable discussing my mental health needs with him. He listens, and he will always work out a plan that fits those needs. My life has changed drastically for the better in the last year. I am finally on the medications I never knew I needed, and I knowing how beneficial they’ve been… I kick myself for not seeking help sooner. There is no shame is having a little help, my quality of life is so worth it. Thank you Serenity and thank you Dr. Clay..I am forever grateful!

I have had a good experience with this location for over a year until my last visit, where I was told out of nowhere that the doctor I've been seeing is leaving and I am being shuffled to the next doc available. I realize that doctors change but to let me know last minute and to now have to have a longer appt to rehash things that this person is going to be clueless about is just plain frustrating. It sure would be nice to at least in one point of my life to not be treated as medical cattle. They could have notified me sooner as well.

My opinion is, they care more about money than their patients. I have been a consistent patient, never missed an appt, always arrived early, and always paid on time. There was a lack of communication for my last appt and missed my first appt of like 40 apts in a year. Rather than allow some grace especially since I have been so consistent they decide to charge me. This to me says you don't care about me as a patient and only care about money . This is really sad especially with working with people with mental health issues. You should probably question your ethics and morals. They actually lost more money than they gained because the next week they would have received more than $20 through my insurance but I canceled future appts. They clearly showed they could careless about me as a patient as they chose $20 over retaining me as a patient. The TMS also was a huge waste of time and money for me. I would not recommend going here. ***To the posted response below for Serenity. I already spoke to a manager and the review reflects management's decision and lack of consideration for patients... feel free to keep the $20 and I'll keep the post up.

I had my first visit with Dr. Clay yesterday & I can honestly say, for the first time in the YEARS I've been battling mental health I felt heard. I was listened too. I wasn't judged. I felt that he genuinely wanted to help me. I had called a few different places prior to contacting Serenity & played Phone tag to eventually getting no phone call back which ultimately made me shut down and not want to get help. I finally had some friends suggest serenity and someone specifically recommend Dr. Clay and I'm glad they did. I was contacted within 30 minutes of requesting an appointment and was able to get in within a week and a half (my choice, could have been in sooner) of calling. I am excited to continue this journey of getting help for myself and I'm glad I chose Serenity to help me get there. I 100% would and will recommend them to anyone struggling.

My wife had an appointment with Brian Thomas. Maybe it was a bad day for him, but she left feeling worse than before she went. He didn't really listen or seem to care. I called to see what happened because she doesn't like confrontation, and the lady I talked to was really apologetic and super nice. Well later we got a bill for over $300 and I called back to see if they could at least lower it somewhat for a 15 min appointment that did more harm than good. The lady I talked to was extremely nice and understanding, but unfortunately didn't have the authority to do anything about the bill and talked to management to see if they could work with us. Well I was disappointed that "since the service had been rendered" we had to pay the full amount as it was. So disappointed at their response. Nice staff that works there, but apparently management is out of touch with the customer and avoid Brian Thomas.

Avoid this location at all costs! From my experience the Dr's are great but the operations staff is a complete nightmare to work with. You're probably already struggling with some sort of Anxiety, PTSD, or depression and the TMS techs are extremely Judgmental! Good luck finding someone at the front desk in the early morning hours when you arrive for TMS as Brittany is probably gossiping in the back with the technicians about other patients' problems. Anyway I refuse to be judged by the people I pay to help me overcome challenges. I took a risk with this place to help with my depression only for it to be made worse. Thankfully there are much better clinics in the Valley! If you do decide to try this place--run for the door if you find out your TMS technician is Lindsey! You have been warned!

I’ve been seeing Dr. McClure for over a year and absolutely love this office, so I am actually switching to another psychiatrist since Dr. McClure moved to the Biltmore office :( The office staff are so nice and easy to reach, while I was at NAU in Flagstaff and had side effects they were super quick to call me back and send over a new prescription or schedule me in ASAP. Definitely worth the 45 minute drive!

Getting the Prescription to the Pharmacy was the biggest nightmare I’ve ever experienced. Every time you call the office for an update you are always on hold for 15-20 mins before someone even answers the call. Don’t leave a voicemail and/or place in line because you won’t get a call back either.

I walked into an appointment with Dr. Clay yesterday and walked out with a sense of relief, and of hope :) The staff at Serenity Mental Health Centers were warm, welcoming, and inviting. I am a person who likes to ask a lot of questions pertaining to my mental health and Dr. Clay and the other staff in the office happily clarify everything I need. This is the first mental health center I have been to (they have various locations throughout the valley) and I have always felt safe and comfortable here. Highly recommend to anyone searching for a new Mental Health Center.

I'm not even sure where to start when reviewing Serenity Mental Health. They remove the institution feeling of seeking Mental health treatment. From the moment you step foot into the office there's a sense of calm. Your met with a smile and "I'm so glad you're here" in the most genuine manner. Check in is super easy. Payment options are available and stress-free. My provider is Pauline. Her energy is inviting, warm and familiar. You don't feel like a stranger and you don't feel like a patient. You feel like family or a close friend. Pauline genuinely cares about you as a whole. How you feel. What your goal is and the best possible regimes in order to work towards small health goals. She makes me feel heard and not just like she listened to what I said. She's honest in her approach and caring and compassionate in her delivery. I feel like I have choices in my treatment that don't always fall back to changing medication or adding more medication. I feel like diagnosis are explained and how the brain and functions can change due to trauma. I've been given a confidence about taking care of my mental health and I no longer feel as though seeking help is a weakness but a strength. The whole team at Serenity makes coming to the office something you don't have to dread. Communication with the providers is made easy and the response time from them is something I wish all providers worked to make a priority. I'm grateful to have found a place who truly cares about me as a whole. Not just a name on a chart. I wish i was better with names to be able to shout out everyone. But Chandler and the Gilbert staff make if feel like you're meeting up with friends. Thank you for making this possible.

Can't recommend DO. Aaron Clay enough. He genuinely cares for the mental and physical well being of his patients. Very good at his job and puts a lot of thought into planning a course of action for treatments. The practice is very nice also. Welcoming, and staffed by an array of kind caring people. You are in good hands here

After less than awesome experience with another healthcare provider, I was referred over to Serenity by my girlfriend. From the moment I walked in I was treated with the care and respect that I was looking for. Everyone that I interacted with had the most amazing attitude from start to finish. When I was able to speak with my provider Bree, I so happy to be given the kind of treatment that I had been looking for. I’m so glad that I found Serenity and would recommend them to anyone concerned about their mental health. Thank you to the staff and especially to NP Bree for giving me the care that I needed. I’m looking forward to starting my mental health journey with such a committed and caring partner like Serenity!

The staff at serenity mental health are awesome. They are always patient and kind and compassionate no matter what the circumstances are. My doctor, Dr Clay is very knowledgeable and has been a big part of my improvement with my mental health issues. I am also a mental health professional. I am a psychotherapist so being in the mental health field, I feel that I have the ability and discernment for excellent mental health care. I would recommend serenity mental health centers to any of my family or friends.

DO NOT COME HERE. THE PRESCRIBERS ARE 100% INCOMPETENT AND WILL NOT HELP YOU. THEY JUSY PUSH THEIR KETAMINE THERAPY AND TMS THERAPY. I saw Danny McClure here and he completely ruined my life for about six months. He was not prescribing me medication at a therapeutic dose the entire time I saw him and he also chose to prescribe me, someone with generalized anxiety and a history of panic attacks, Wellbutrin which is known to heighten anxiety. This medicine, along with not being on any medications to control my other symptoms, plunged me into full blown panic attacks that occurred 24/7 for about four months. I called the office, audibly crying, and begged them to help me or do something and they said to just cut the dosage down and give it time. I eventually went on Ativan, which I was on until December 2020 when, after seeing a competent doctor who put me on therapeutic doses of medications and attending an 8 week IOP program, I felt comfortable stopping it. If I could sue this facility for neglect and malpractice I would in a heartbeat.

I have been seeking care for mental illness for the better part of 30 years. I've never experienced the level of care that Serenity provides starting with the very first contact for intake. From that moment on, you know that you are cared for as a whole, past AND present so that they can help you move to a healthier future. My experience with Dr. Clay has proven that whatever I am facing in my quest for mental wellness, he is on my team and ready to provide the care and modifications to my medicine and other treatments so I can live a better quality of life. Serenity has been a game-changer.

From the initial call seeking an appointment to meeting my new doctor this is an amazing facility with a friendly compassionate staff! They consistently provided confirmation and reassurance. I felt very at ease. And Bree Scott has such a welcoming personality, kind and lighthearted, I truly enjoyed the experience and feel confident I’m in great hands!

I’ve had nothing but the best experiences at this location! All of the staff are super kind and welcoming. I’m always called back within 10 minutes of my arrival, so it makes it very easy to expect the total duration the appointment takes. I’ve been seeing Paulene for about 9 months, and she has done a phenomenal job of making me feel heard about my issues or concerns. It’s comforting to know that medication management is one of her top priorities when meeting with patients.

For now… 1 star. They cancelled my appt when i walked in because my doc was unavailable. I drove 10 miles to get there. Apparently they won’t leave a voicemail to tell me they cancelled it. And the next avail isn’t for month later. What does THAT say about the importance of mental health?? The dude on the appointment line asked me 50688532 questions and even took my ssn!!!! I really needed help… disappointed to say the least. Maybe find another mental health care professional that won’t dismiss your needs so callously

I have been taking my child here for over a year and I have nothing but good things to say. From the front office staff to the licensed professionals, this facility genuinely cares and has bent over backwards to help us many times. I wish I had found Serenity before wasting my time elsewhere (for years) trying to get help for my child.

Everyone is respectful, kind and professional. The rate of prescription refills is pretty quick and they always follow up with you to let you know when they have sent it to the pharmacy. Dr Howser (sorry if spelt wrong :,) ) is great, he has a very calming demeanor and you can tell he really cares. I was hesitant after my psychiatrist retired after seeing her for 13 years. But i feel like im in good hands at serenity. I would give 5 but since I have only been there twice so far I might change my answer later down the road :) but so far great experience.

Tyler Amman was great! She asked questions that no therapist bothered delving into before. I left feeling optimistic and that my care was truly tailored to me. She was very empathic and actively listened. I felt comfortable and safe.

Tyler is so kind and personable. She has been such a huge help and in comparison to the other places ive been the staff here is wonderful and so kind. I really feel at home whenever I come to my appointments. Tyler listens and gives you the tools and options to get better and really cares. I love serenity mental health!

I love the Mr. Clay dude he's really fun but also remains serious about helping you. Very well rounded thought processes, he understands the specific words that you're saying and asks questions if he's not 100% sure that's what you mean. Very thorough and has his own way of minimalizing the hard conversation without "tucking it under the rug." The ladies are all really nice and fun to chat with as well! Best place ever :3

Have no idea why my husband's name is on review but I am writing a review on Dr. Clay. I have a long history of seeing psychiatrists & Dr. Clay is the best one I've ever dealt with (and I'm not one to be very fond of doctors in general). I was at an epic low when I started seeing the doctor 1.5 years ago. He treated me with respect & really listened to my concerns. I don't know how he does it, because his schedule is always full, but I never feel rushed. Sometimes you just get lucky & run into someone who excels at their chosen career. Bottom line - my quality of life has improved expedentially. If u are reading this review for yourself or a loved one, try meeting with Dr. Clay & I wish u all best :)

Serenity is a great mental health center! Their staff was very friendly and attentive, Dr. Clay was very helpful and listened to all of my concerns. When I needed another verification for my medication, they were quick to respond! The office is beautiful and clean. I would highly recommend Serenity if you’re in need of a mental health center!

Everyone at Serenity has been amazing! This doesn't feel like a doctors office it feels more like your going to see your family! I've never felt more safe and taken care of truly! Dr. Clay is outstanding I've never felt more comfortable and able to be myself 100% with any other doctor and I've seen many doctor's over the years. When I walked into Serenity i felt hopeful and hopeless all at the same time almost defeated. Within the first few weeks I immediately felt different my friends and family could see little changes. Four to five weeks after my first TMS treatment I felt like a completely different person. The person I had never been but was always meant to be! I wish that I had this opportunity sooner! These amazing people truly care about you and getting you to your best self... Chelsie, Olivia, Jamie and Dr. Clay thank you for everything I don't know where I would be with out you all!

I recommend this office, it’s the only one that’s treated me successfully. I can be very difficult to treat and work with but Brian put in a lot of time and effort into finding the best fix for me . I’d highly recommend him he genuinely loves his job and knows what he’s doing. You can be honest with him without fears of being scolded. He’ll listen to you and take your wants and needs into consideration! The office is clean and the area is easy to access. :)

Yesterday was my first visit. Easy location to find, comfortable and welcoming environment right when you step in. The staff was friendly, patient, knowledgeable and kind. Brian Thomas NP is very professional, kind and knowledgeable. I finally feel like I'm being heard and cared for regarding my mental health. After my visit, I feel I am heading in the right direction in getting the help I need. Thank you Serenity!!!

Very good place with very good people. No complaints. they have a daytime support line where you can ask any questions without having to stop by the office. My psychiatrist has always been very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable during every visit. They also do ketamine infusions here, though I've never tried it yet. It would be awesome if they could have an online portal to schedule and keep track of appointments.

I could not recommend Serenity enough! Seeking help for your mental health can be scary but everyone at Serenity made the environment feel so safe and welcoming. I’ve been to many clinics where the nurses and technicians were passive aggressive or flippant but that has not been my experience with Serenity, all the staff are so kind! When I started a new treatment, a technician took time to talk me through the process which definitely helped ease my mind, I always felt like I was in good hands and being listened to!

Best place I’ve ever gone to. Out of everyone I’ve been to this is by far the best place. The kindest staff members, the second you walk in you feel safe and welcomed. The smell is also weirdly comforting? I love this place so much and my psychiatrist is the best. I’ve only gotten better ever since I came here. I see Tyler and she is by far the best psychiatrist, she’s so understanding and just has a very welcoming aura. 👍👍👍

The entire staff at Serenity is wonderful! Dr. Clay is top notch and I feel like I have gained many resources and strategies to help better my mental health. Highly recommend this company and especially Dr. Clay although you will probably have to wait awhile to see him because he’s so amazing he books up quickly!

I can’t say enough good things about Serenity and Brian! Everyone I spoke with was extremely supportive and compassionate. I’ve been to many different psychiatrists offices and this is by far the best one I’ve seen. From the intake nurse I spoke with on the phone, to the receptionist and of course Brian. He listened to me and really seemed to understand what I was going through. He was never condescending as some psychiatrists can be. I felt completely at ease with him. I would recommend Serenity to anyone who needs to see a mental health professional.

  • 5/5 Julie H. 1 year ago on Google
From the first day I called to ask about being a new patient, I started the intake process to place me with a great fit. My 1st appointment with Dr Clay was worth the wait. The nurse spent a good chunk of time asking more questions and then the doctor took the most time any psychiatrist ever has to REALLY LISTEN. When all told the entire process was probable 3 hour between both dates. I discovered that I have been missed diagnosed for over 10 years. My new diagnosis is something else that mimicked the prior, but it all makes so much more sense now! I'm so excited to finally get the treatment I never was able to achieve in the past. Looking forward to my future!!!

If I could rate a million, I would! The entire team is extremely patient, kind and respectful. To note, Ashley, Dawn, and Dominic have made my experience with Serenity and absolute pleasure. There was a mix-up with my pharmacy and they ensured I was a priority. I can’t recommend this location to enough people! Dr. Pauline has been my first doctor in this type of field, and has ensured me comfort yet informative information on how to assist me. Also, as a person she’s as genuine as it gets. Love her, and her team!
