    Car renters beware. Rented a premium vehicle over a month ago. Ended up switching vehicles from a full size Mercedes Benz SUV to a BMW sedan due to the first car having a "musty" smell to it. I did not think to check the BMW all around for any damages just from being tired of travel and wanting to get to my destination. Rented the vehicle on 12/17 and returned the car on 12/20, a few days later I get an email saying I caused damages to the front bumper. I did not take pictures of the vehicle but over a month later they are claiming damages for a scratch on the front bumper. Spend the extra time to walk the vehicle with a representative and make sure you agree on the condition of the vehicle.

    update again (4/25/22): I literally went back and forth between sixt and expedia for months. Someone at cooperate sixt finally contacted the Phoenix sixt (they have no published number for me to call). The lady from there was the first nice human I encountered (ironically). She called me and listened to my story and agreed to tell corporate Sixt to process a refund. Despite this, it was still weeks more of me begging and them rejecting screenshots of their own emailed promises before all the parties finally returned my money. Expedia has been an absolute nightmare to work with. I never write bad reviews, but this was just hell. I feel bad for the lady at Pheonix sixt because this review is on her car rental place and Sixt corporate and expedia are the ones who booked this impossible appointment and left me in this horrible situation, so i truly blame them. Please note their hours 10,000 times and don't think for a minute that they'll be open past 12:00 am, despite what's written on your reservation. update: sixt told me only expedia can refund my money. They" can't do it in their system." Expedia says sixt is refusing the refund. They keep blaming each other. I had to dispute $788 on my credit card with chase and am awaiting resolution. I am reporting this to the better business bureau. Shame on all involved. Buyer beware. They give you appointments to pick up cars even when they're closed! I had an appoint for 12:45 am that I made through Expedia. We showed up a few minutes before 1:00 am and the place was closed. We were stranded and exhausted with young kids and tons of luggage. Another family there was stranded too. The next morning the guy at Fox rental car told me that everyone besides for Avis is closed by 12:30 am at Phoenix airport. Sixt is refusing to refund my money despite my having spent hours on the phone with both Sixt and expedia explaining what happened to us. Sixt still allows your to make an appointment right now for 1:00 am on their website even though they know they are closed (note the appointment time on the photo I attached of their website!). SHAME ON THEM! The other photos is of my son and our luggage stranded in front of their closed store.

    Caveat Emptor! Customer assumes the risk that Sixt vehicles and/or service may fail to meet expectations or have defects. I have used Sixt throughout Europe and the United States and have never had any issues with the company until my recent experience. As I was conducting business in Phoenix, I took out a long-term rental with Sixt. The initial vehicle I used had no issues other than the tags were to expire during my rental period. I called customer service about the expired tags and was told I could exchange the vehicle for another one in the same vehicle class. When I arrived at the counter, Ricardo informed me that they did not have any vehicles available in the class I chose. He said he would upgrade me to the next vehicle class. I initially prepaid the rental and when the total charges on the screen showed an additional amount of approximately $375, I questioned it. Ricardo told me the difference between what I prepaid was a security deposit of $200 and miscellaneous terminal usage fees and applicable taxes. Okay, makes sense. When I arrived home to check my rental agreement email, I discovered that Ricardo charged me a $50.40 per day upgrade fee. So Ricardo was not forthright when he explained the amount I was questioning. The amount I saw on the screen was not the total rental fee, but rather the additional costs due to the upgrade fee, nearly an extra $1,500! Never in my life have I EVER been charged for an upgrade due to the vendor/company/organization not having my class or size available. I’ve been upgraded by airlines several times when the class had been oversold. Airlines upgraded me from coach to business or first class without any additional cost to me. I attempted to call the customer service number on the email, but at the time a recording said they had an unexpectedly high call volume and to call back later. I emailed customer service instead. After 3 days I received an email saying my complaint was forwarded to the duty station at Sky Harbor and that someone would be calling me to resolve my concerns. After a week of no contact, I emailed again. This time I did receive email communication from Laura Yao, manager of Sixt at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. She said she contacted me and offered a solution. However, no contact was made - no email, phone call, voicemail, etc. I made arrangements to swap the upgraded vehicle with a Toyota Rav 4, the original type of vehicle rented. I was told one would be held for me that day. When I arrived a few hours after making my arrangements, I discovered that the Rav 4 set aside had been rented out. Jazzmin at the return counter was helpful and assisted with placing me in a similar vehicle and updating the rental agreement accordingly. It doesn’t end there. I noticed on the agreement, for the newest vehicle, a fueling fee. Jazzmin explained that the fee was a fuel prepay and that I could return the vehicle with any fuel level. I recently returned the vehicle, with approximately a quarter tank of fuel, and to my surprise, I was charged $211.01 for on-site refueling. Really? Refueling three-quarters of a tank at this amount means the gasoline was approximately $19.40 per gallon. Insane! The other car rental agencies onsite are only charging a $2.00 per gallon premium above current prices. Even with the premium, the cost of fuel at other rental agencies wouldn’t be more than $6.00 per gallon! I called, and sent an email to customer service about this practice as well. I was told they are “investigating” the matter. We shall see. I’m not happy at all with the experience. Should I NOT be credited for the onsite fueling charge, I will definitely be filling a complaint with the better business bureau and the Arizona State Attorney General’s office. This location certainly has some business practices that need to be addressed, including dirty vehicles. I want to be clear. My complaint with Sixt is with this location only! My experience with Sixt in France, Germany, Switzerland, Washington DC, Washington state and Oregon have been exceptional.

    I have used SIXT 4 times now. Each time another challenge and issue. My last experience I drove away from the rental facility and the check tire light came on about 20 minutes away. I filled the tire. It was fine for the next 3/4 days. As i drove back to the rental place the light came back on.... Now they are charging me for the tire and a full day of rental. Obviously the tire had a slow leak and it happened to end up on me. They sent me the bill 4 months after the rental. They won't get on a phone. They asked me to send them documentation that would prove I filled the tire with air.... Have you ever heard of being able to get documentation from a gas station after you fill the tire with air? Absurd. Back and forth on email with ridiculous responses. You can't talk to someone on the phone. They don't answer simple questions.... Taking my personal and companies business away from SIXT.

    This was our first time renting from Sixt and we couldn't be more pleased with it. Our customer service was stellar thanks to James, who was friendly, efficient and went above and beyond to make sure out experience was a great one. The vehicle return was the easiest we've ever experienced. We highly recommend using this car rental service as they're far and away better than their competitors, and at a better price too!!

    Worst experience ever and I will NEVER rent from Sixt again. We were handed the keys at a pick up counter in the garage. Our vehicle was dirty on the outside at pick up but no big deal we wanted to leave the airport. No one inspected the vehicle upon pick up or drop off. I did take a photo of existing damage. Regardless we are being billed for multiple new scratches on the vehicle including the one circled when we took the vehicle. How do you send photos days later of damage?? We rent often from other companies and have never once experienced something like this. I feel completely scammed and the more reviews I read about Sixt I feel that it’s a common occurrence. In response to your reply : I have reached out via email multiple times with no response! I will update when this situation is corrected.

    I had never heard of Sixt before noticing I got corporate discounts with them. I was super pleased by the prices and service I got having used them for the first time. They upgraded me to a fancy Volvo for free, making my spur of the moment rental a fun affair rather than something obligatory. The staff is helpful, patient, and honest. The ladies at the counter were so kind, and the guys downstairs who check in and out know what they're doing. Very pleased to have taken a chance with these guys.

    I have never received such great service from a car rental! A few employees really stand out and I just want to pass along the feedback. They deserve some reconciliation! Jared S at check in and (I’m unsure if her name) the woman who helped get our car and car seat where absolutely amazing! They were so kind! The whole process was wonderful!! I have had some nightmares with car rentals. Best service I’ve have hands down.

    I was extremely pleased with my rental from Sixt. This was my first experience with Sixt and it was fabulous. From the initial beginning to the vehicle selection to the return experience we're all perfectly done. The next time I rent a vehicle I pray that Sixt will do me the honors to rent one of their vehicles. Thank you Sixt and Jerry. Bless you all.

    The vehicle we reserved had a flat tire when we arrived. The representative gave us keys to another vehicle and said would email us updated paperwork to reflect the change. We asked if there would be an extra charge and he said everything remains the same and we drove off. We returned the vehicle and received an invoice for almost $1,500.00 more than our original reservation agreement. SIXT has no live customer service to answer any invoice questions and we have sent multiple emails with no response. Its been 2 weeks since we dropped off the car and still no resolution. We feel taken advantage of and scammed! We are seasoned travelers and the lack of communication in resolving an issue (totally their era) is something we have never experienced with any other car rental company. Don't let the cheap up front prices fool you!

    SIXT is our favorite car rental company and we use SIXT every time — unless they’re not available. SIXT has excellent customer service and well- maintained rental vehicles. We couldn’t be happier with SIXT and Walter was really helpful. We had a brand new BMW SUV!

    Really great car rental experience overall! I was able to check in ahead of time on their app, this made it super quick and easy to pick up my car right after landing into PHX. I got an upgrade from a RAV4 to a BMW which was really nice. About 5 minutes and exactly 6 miles after picking up the car I got a “low tire pressure alert”on the highway, I pulled over to call the company. The issue was resolved after being on the phone 1 hour with various customer service help agents- my only complaint is I wish the customer service line was quicker to get my car issue resolved. I ended up driving back the 6 miles with the flat tire since it was only flat and didn’t have a hole or damage to it, this was a specific instruction given by the agent. Once I got back, my car was switched out super quickly and then I could be on my way to the hotel. Overall great car rental experience I would rent from them again in the future.

    Great car. However, the first BMW we were given had a preexisting mechanical issue that was disclosed during the first ten miles. Exchanging the car was not convenient and took away valuable time.

    Wow, Shon's service was exceptional, one of a kind and professional! It's hard to find that anymore and SIXT definitely met those high expectations today! In my time of need, they came through! Their prices for the best of the best selection was unbelievable! It a must to rent with SIXT for all my future rentals. They take their time with you and you're not just another customer! I'm blown away still! Shon is your guy and SIXT should be your choice! Seriously! Take my word and you won't be disappointed!

    Great experience all the way. Adriana at Phoenix airport was very personable on top of being knowledgeable even about company history. Chose Sixt based on rental rates as well as Expedia ratings. Car rental category was Camry or similar. Drove off in a BMW 430i with 13000 miles on it. Would not hesitate to rent again even without the BMW.

    Outstanding service. They didn't have The rental car that we had reserved, so they upgraded us to a much nicer one, no charge. We noticed a scratch on the car, they didn't dismiss us, they went and personally reviewed the vehicle with us and annotated everything we discussed. Price was extremely reasonable. The main thing I enjoyed is the customer service, which was much better than we've grown to expect from other larger rental car corporations. I will definitely use this company moving forward.

    By far the best car rental company I've dealt with, not only did Sixt have a nice selection of higher end cars (rented a BMW X5), but the staff were friendly and helpful in recommending some neat places to check out that related to my planned trip. The car was nearly brand new and in great condition (at least until I decimated the fly population with the car and had a thousand bits of fly guts on the car, but such is life driving around Arizona; check out the included photo). Included all the nice tech you'd expect from a new car. No wait to pick up the car, and no wait to drop off the car.

    So easy. So friendly, so clean. I used the online registration on the bus ride from the airport, which was super simple. Then I bypassed the counter (read: no waiting at all!) and went straight to the garage. Gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and showed me to the car. The car was super clean and really nice. I was so glad that I rented from them and definitely will rent from them next time! Returning the car was just as easy! This is my new favorite car rental company!

    Great experience at Phoenix Airport renting with Sixt. THE Chris was courteous and provided me with upgrade options for a bigger vehicle with more power. Because I was taking just a short drive to my destination and would be driving around town, I decided against the upgrade and was satisfied with my Mini Cooper convertible. What a fun car to try out as a rental, I really enjoyed its zippy drive. Getting the car out of the airport and returning it was a breeze. The only thing that could have gone better was the emails and receipts…for some reason, everything was in French. Google Translate and the return attendant were both helpful and stated no new issues or damages upon return. I will definitely be renting with Sixt again in the future.

    I’ve used Sixt the last 3 times I’ve gone to Phoenix. It’s a great price, especially if you pay in advance. I’ve not had any troubles with the cars. The last time I was there Nicole checked us in and she was wonderful! The customer service here has always been great, actually. I don’t always like giving reviews after just one time. Companies, just like people, sometimes have bad days. But Sixt has always been wonderful.

    I purchase car rentals almost every month for work and personal travel and this was my first (and will be my absolute last) time using Sixt. Everything was seemingly smooth with the rental experience at first, no accidents or incidents occurred and I walked around the car with the representative at the drop-off location to assess any additional cosmetic damages upon the car return. Come to find out a day letter, I get an email stating a scratch was found on the aluminum car rim in which they charged me $875 for damages (according to the estimate paperwork I received, they are basically replacing the entire aluminum rim). I've never felt more ripped off using a rental car company and will not be using them in the future.

    This was the first time using Sixt and I will say it was one of the best experiences I have had renting a car. Ricardo at the Phoenix Airport was awesome. He gave me great customer service even though it was 15 minutes before closing. You have definitely got me as a customer for life over the big box rental companies. If you haven't rented with Sixt, I will say, what are you waiting for? You have nothing to lose but the stress of renting. See you soon Sixt! Thank you!

    It was such a great car rental option! We got a very nice BMW vehicle for just $50 a day! We enjoyed it a lot! Couldn’t even imagine it might be possible to get a luxury car for such less money! Thanks a lot to an agent Michael who helped us to chose the vehicle. He was very nice and gave to us the best option. As well as gave some good recommendations for our trip to Phoenix! Since now we know where to go to get a good rental car easily and for less market price.

    If it’s too good to be true then believe it! After returning the car, I received an email stating damage to the car (a scratch). There was no damage noticed prior to or after the rental. Do yourself a favor and request they walk the inspection with you and take a video or pictures. There’s a reason they charge a ridiculously high amount for the deposit. It’s so they can make false claims to make money. I rented an X5 for 2days at $50/day. Sounded like a good deal until the scam. I will be fighting this one. Buyer beware!!!!

    For my recent trip to Phoenix I wanted something a little more special than your run-of-the-mill economy rental car, so I decided to give Sixt a try. Man, am I glad I did. I originally reserved a BMW “3-series or equivalent” and was able to complete most of the check-in process from my phone while waiting to pick up my bags in the airport. I got a notification that the car I originally selected wasn’t available, and was prompted with a few different upgrade options (with an associated upcharge). I wasn’t too happy about this, but when I got to the desk to check in, I was happy to find that I was upgraded to a BMW 4-series at no additional cost. The car was amazing, and the entire check in and return process was smooth and efficient. I’ll definitely be going back to Sixt the next time I’m in Phoenix, and I’ll start seeking them out in other cities I travel to as well.

    Walter was amazing!! His attention to detail did not go unnoticed. He sanitized the desk… I also dropped my license and he picked it up for me and cleaned it which was so thoughtful. He was also able to upgrade our car acknowledging my best friend’s birthday. You may lose him to BMW because I was in the market for a new SUV and he sold me 😂 Jerry greeted us upon our return and I loved our interaction. So friendly. This was my first time using SIXT and it will be my choice in the future because of these two interactions. Thank you for making our trip special!

    I came in for a memorial service and needed a car rental on the spot and SIXT Rent A Car made my life easy. They helped me get in a car at a price that was good for me. I didn’t know the area well and when I went to pick up my rental the gentleman at pick up helped me figure out if my hotel was in a safe place. All a great experience!

    We rented an SUV and had a seamless experience. The vehicle was clean. Getting the vehicle on arrival was fast, drop off was simple. The only process that was long was getting to and from the Car Rental Center. With this airport add an extra 30 minutes for the train to all rental car companies. I have never used this company before and I will definitely use them again.

    I used SIXT in Germany and thought it was great so I was hoping it would be the same in the states. Thankfully, it was one of the easiest car rental experiences I've had! The mobile check-in/car selection option is a nice time saver and the process to get the keys was simple. I will definitely use them again.

    This was my second time using Sixt and because the first rental experience was awesome, I decided to use them again. First I have to say, Walter went above and beyond during check in. I was in town for a funeral, so this was the last place I wanted to be. After being assisted by Walter, I left feeling a whole lot better. He was personable, efficient and extremely helpful. The car, just like my first experience, did not disappoint. The entire process from check in to return was great.

    Absolutely the best customer service and professionalism I have experienced in sometime!!!!! Being in the business of sales and daily customer interaction, and being a customer as I travel often, it’s rare to come across someone who has a passion to serve others in their job and takes care of the customer the way, Jared did me.. challenged with a fast pace scheduled on a regular basis, I am guilty to slow down and take the time to share a review when it’s needed. I absolutely could not miss the opportunity to carve out time and share of the great customer service I received with the Jared !!!! I’m booking a flight back to Phoenix early November, and you better believe I will use the same company and hope I get the same rep, Jared!!!!

    I have never had to write a bad review for a car rental in my life. We returned our rental at approximately 4/430am and dropped our keys in the drop box. Not thinking of it at the time we did not take pictures of the car. 1 month later we received an email demanding over $400 for damages. When we spoke to them they said “well even if it happened after you parked it in our parking garage you are still liable for damages”. Listen I have no issue admitting if we had gotten into any type of accident or anything however we did not, heck we barley put any miles on it. They sent us photos of one side smashed, we wouldn’t have missed seeing that when we dropped the car off. So be ware if you rent from them you won’t get your receipt, and you better take lots of pictures of the rental before and after. Shady is putting it nicely.

    Ricardo at the desk in the lobby was very nice and efficient! I did not get the name of the young lady at the desk downstairs but she was also great! Got a fabulous BMW X5, brand new at a great price! Super clean. Everything went so easily! Note that they don’t open until 7AM in the lobby, so if you get in early you might have to wait, unless you can use the QR code with your reservation number. I have rented here before, and never had a bad experience.

    I reserved my vehicle for for Monday, May 1, but at the last moment my airline changed my flight to Sunday. I was so worried about having to Uber everywhere in an unknown city but I decided to walk up to the counter and ask for help. I was so happy to speak to this very nice Mexican gentleman (sorry I can’t remember his name) but he was so helpful and got my all taken care of in a matter of moments. Then I went down to pick up my beautiful brand new Black Toyota Camry that was sparkling and ready for us to drive off. Thank You Sixt for an amazing experience in Phoenix, Arizona.

    First time renting with SIXT and was a little skeptical, but everything went well. The customer service at pick up was fantastic. Jared didn't hard sell anything and even upgraded the vehicle. He was very friendly and we were out quickly. I was a little worried with return, because they were busy and said we could just leave the keys. Got my invoice an hour later and everything was good. I always take pics and video just in case though.

    Great customer service and got the car I requested, quickly, easily. Scott C. and the staff were helpful following a fire alarm (false alarm), making it easy to get on my way. Have to say, prices were good, too, for a reservation less than 24 hours in advance. Have used Sixt successfully in Europe in the past, too. Will be back!

    Fantastic customer service by Juan. It was my first time renting with Sixt and he made the check in process easy. He also upgraded our car from an Altima to a BMW X5 because I told him we were heading to sedona and gave recommendations on where to eat and also letting us know that there was a storm on the way. When we head down to pick up the car I noticed that the car smelled like weed. I had let the supervisor know prior to leaving so I wouldn't get charged for it. Other than that everything else was fine.

    FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE! One of the managers, Reza, and his team (pictured) really helped us out when we had an emergency and took care of us. They were quick, knowledgeable and very helpful. Will definitely come back here to rent a car and recommend you do, too. Their returns are in the shared airport rental car garage at the lowest level. Very easy to find, good signage.

    Had a great experience my first time renting with Sixt in May. Abe went above and beyond to make sure I got the correct rental. He is a true professional and has great customer service skills. The other female staff member (which I don't remember her name) was awesome and friendly as well. I normally don't write reviews but I had to because my experience was fantastic. I will definitely rent with them again in the future.

    I reserved a car from this company and when I showed up they didn't have my car I reserved for $85/day. So they offered me another car which turned out to cost me $900 for 4 days! Ridiculous! I'm so tired of rental agencies not having the car you reserve online. Why do you even ask what car a consumer wants to rent when you NEVER have the car in stock. And why should I have to pay way more when you don't have the right car?????

    Aja, at the counter was super helpful. Had read a ton of bad reviews on these guys. I was late getting to the airport by several hours and the people on the 800 number were not really helpful at all. She hooked me up with a better ride, and gave me a discount, totally helpful and knowledgeable. They need to put her in charge of the customer service.

    We always try to rent with Sixt. We have never been disappointed. Jared assisted us and he was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable.

    We’ve rented from Sixt all over US. Never had any issues with customer service or their vehicles. Lots of premium options to chose from, this time we got a convertible BMW, it was smaller than expected but we still had lots of fun. Next time I’ll opt for Audi or Mercedes convertible if available.
